Morning Devotional...

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the
salvation of the Lord. . . It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth
.

Lamentations 3:26-27

Jerusalem had been destroyed and all was desolation.

It reminds us a little of our devastated society today. But in days like these there are two good things for God's people to do.

He counsels us to patiently and quietly wait for His certain salvation. And as we wait, we are to take God's yoke upon us, and labor for Him, for it has great reward.

May God help us to do these good things.
--Edwin Fesche

Thine almighty arms are around me,
and my head is on Thy breast,
For my weary soul has found Thee
such a perfect, perfect rest.
Gracious Saviour,
now I know that I am blest.

I just wanted to be the first one to post today.  Just got up here, and am getting ready to leave for the Bible College.  Things are slowing down a little, but also picking up.  I have 10 days left before we fly back to the states to get the program/schedule ready for next spring.  We had a big shake up at the Bible College, and I've had to take up the work of the Academic Dean and a lot of the work of the Director of the school.  What fun!!!

Trials and Pain: Piles of Ashes

Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful;
nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of
righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
--Hebrews 12:11

If God has singled you out to be a special object of His grace you
may expect Him to honor you with stricter discipline and greater
suffering than less favored ones are called upon to endure....

If God sets out to make you an unusual Christian He is not likely
to be as gentle as He is usually pictured by the popular teachers.
A sculptor does not use a manicure set to reduce the rude,
unshapely marble to a thing of beauty. The saw, the hammer and the
chisel are cruel tools, but without them the rough stone must
remain forever formless and unbeautiful.

To do His supreme work of grace within you He will take from your
heart everything you love most. Everything you trust in will go
from you. Piles of ashes will lie where your most precious
treasures used to be. That Incredible Christian, pp. 122-124

"Lord, give me the grace to withstand 'the saw, the hammer and the
chisel.' I want the finished product; I often chafe under the
process. I submit myself today to Your working. Amen."

Hello!  It's really quiet in here today, huh!  It's almost 9 am and only 3 or 4 posts.  Wow.

Not much to say, and I've got to get started on the day's jobs here at work.

Have a great day, all!

Good Morning Everyone. Thank you Pat for the devotional today and to Chris a big thank you for the divotional for Mr. Tozer.

Well yesterday I got 19 photos framed priced and ready to go for the Craft Faire they look so nice in the frames. I've also been working on the PSP stuff and doing other things too. Went to my Tai Chi class after being off for a week due to the floors being redone at the Senior Center.

Ruth Ann so glad you are back and had a wonderful time. I heard from Jenny this morning about your phone call.

The cable company is coming today to install the cable for my computer and the TV, so I will be home from work early but have to go back after they leave and Fay comes back from the doctor.

She is doing well but is not being very cooperative about eating what is prepared for her. I had to prepare two differnt meals for her at supper time yesterday.

Ok Time for me to go check the other forums as had have a little extra time this morning.

Y-all have a great day.

Good Morning Everyone...

Boy!  I'm tired today.  I didn't get home last night till about 11:45 pm and by the time I looked at my emails and opened a new New Every Morning, I was sure ready for my bed!

It's always nice to come here and see who's already checked in.  Nice to see you made it first again, Mike!  I hope that when you are in the states, you'll still be able to check in.  Will there be a computer for you to use while you're here?

I always look forward to seeing your Dr. Tozer devotionals, Chris.  That prayer today sure is my prayer today!

Quote"Lord, give me the grace to withstand 'the saw, the hammer and the
chisel.' I want the finished product; I often chafe under the
process. I submit myself today to Your working. Amen
."

Nice to see you checking in Nards.  Don't work too hard!  ;D

TBear...   Did you enjoy your breakfast?  What did you have?  I'm off to have mine now.

Glad you have those photos framed, Marilyn.   Sounds great.  Hope you sell them all.

Logar, did you see my message yesterday?  The site you are using won't let you link to it to show your neat little graphic so I uploaded it to the CP server.   You're seeing it because it's in your cache on your computer but no one else can see it.  And it's so cute.

Beth ~ Wish you lived closer.  I would get you out of the trap.  I know how you feel.  I feel the same when we have a big snow and I can't get out my driveway.

John ~ You will be with Beth before you know it!  Love your count-down.

TBear ~ I have been meaning to ask...did you make your animations?  They are so unique and so cute.  They really liven up the place!  A concert in Indy?  Your daughter will be within 4-5 miles from me when she travels on I-69.

Pat ~ Hope you got your much needed rest.  And thanks for the great devotion.

Sonja ~ Did you dance yourself out?

Nards ~ Thanks for stopping in for a bit.

Ruth Ann ~ Wow!  That time sure did fly.  Welcome home!

Larry ~ You deserve some days without posting to all.

Logar ~ You do have a real neat graphic.  But use the one that Pat put on here so we can all see it.  It is really cute.

Marilyn ~ Framing?  Do you mean boughten frames or frames with PSP?  19 is a lot!  Perhaps you can take a picture of your pictures!!!

Chris ~ Thanks for the devotion.

Bright and sunny again in central Indiana but cold.  I am thinking about Christmas decorations and also thinking about Inky and Christmas decorations.  May do very minimal inside but decorate outside.  Then Inky won't rearrange the decorations so much.

Hi everyone.  I wanted to get here earlier today as it was so late when I posted yesterday and then was too tired to say much.  It is another beautiful day here.  This is Calvin Cove day and we will be singing the group of secular and sacred Christmas songs and hymns that I have put together for the group.  We had them last year and they really seemed to enjoy them.  We should be able to use them 4 times during the month of December.

The Christmas Cantata we are working on is "A service of Lessons and Carols" with some very beautiful carol arrangements.  I recorded the tape tracks for the bass part that our choir director made for us onto1 the computer so can practice them with ease.

I just had to stop my posting and put in a different keyboard as the batteries died in the wireless one.  Fortunately I was able to get a USB keyboard at our last SN volunteers meeting as we had replaced all of the IBM keyboards with different ones and they were offering these to anyone who wanted one.   Glad I have it.

Ruth Ann, wow that 10 days went by fast and sure it probably went even faster for you.  Glad you had a safe trip home and that you didn't get stuck in Detroit all night long.  Know you must be exhausted.

Welcome to the_8th-person.  Is there a story connected to that screen name?

Pat, you are going to have to watch those late nights out!!   :D  Hope you had a great time with your hiking friends.

Marilyn, does Fay tell you to fix one thing and then won't eat it so that you have to fix something else?  As Etta Sue said, I hope you will take a photo of your picture framing efforts so we can enjoy seeing them.

Tbear, I have prayed for your daughter's safe trip and for your peace of mind toight.  Even though my daughter is almost 40 (she still lives at home) so I am relieved to hear her come home when she has been out in the evening or night.  I am certainly enjoying your cheerful postings and the cute little graphics.  (The same for all the other graphics that spice up the postings.)

Logar, hello to you today.  Always nice to see your postings.

Chris, the Tozier devotional was something about which I guess I had never really thought about.  It is a wonderful analogy as most of us have a lot of rough edges that God must mold as he wants us to be.

Nards, good to see you checking in and hope your day at work isn't too stressful.

Mike, you must be a very talented man of God if you can balance all those different jobs.  Hope you don't overstress before your return to the States for your holiday.

Al, if you have a chance get some computer speakers that have a subwoofer and you will really enjoy music on your computer.  I listen to mine almost everyday and it is great.  I have a set of Alsace Lansing speakers with a subwoofer that is under my desk and the sounds are marvelous.  They were not very expensive, especially since a couple of years ago they had them on sale for $40, which was about half price, at Staples Office Supply store.  I have been listening to beautiful piano music all morning as I have been working on the computer.

John, we are enjoying your count down until you will be visiting with Beth.  Sure you will pass whatever test Beth's brother has for you as you sounds like a wonderful person.

Sarah, hope your practice today goes better for you.  Has all the snow melted out your way?

Guess I had better stop writing as this is growing into a book.  After Calvin Cove this afternoon I am going with my new friend, Rod, up to our new Fry's Electronic store to look around.  Neither of us have been there but apparently it is huge and have a lot of things related to computers.  I will give you a report later.  Fry's has just come into the Atlanta area.

Hope everyone has a great day.  Now back to work on my webpage problem.

WinterRose

Thanks Pat it was a good breakfast too. I made OATMEAL for my son & then I had polish sausage for me & cheereios not much for breakfast but I was not very hungry this morning.

ETTA ... I was doing a search & that is how I came to have all these special animations as I am not so talented to do those fancy things. Also have a good friend that I have helped out with adding them to her board & they have added a little someting extra special to her board. As for the blinkies ( like the hugs one in my last post ) that is due to my daughter ... as she has gotten me started on them & I have a lot more to post so maybe some day I will ... As for the concert tonight that she is going to ... it's at the FAIRGROUNDS & she is going to see someone called: KELLY CLARKSON ( she was the 1st AMERCIAN IDOL WINNER ) and so ... I'm hoping that she has a good time & a safe trip too & will tell you about it tomorrow after I see her soo keep her in prayer today !!  One last note ... SNAIL MAIL COMING YOUR WAY so it's out in the mailbox and you might have by the weekend so be watching for it !!

So ... folks time to get out the CLOTHES & GET SOME MORE WASHED so take care & I will be back again soon !!

The First Noel
(Click to hear music)

There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
Luke 2:8-9

Words & Music: Traditional English carol, possibly dating from as early as the 13th Century

The first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
In fields where they lay tending their sheep,
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.

Refrain
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east, beyond them far;
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.

Refrain

And by the light of that same star
Three Wise Men came from country far;
To seek for a King was their intent,
And to follow the star wherever it went.

Refrain

This star drew nigh to the northwest,
Over Bethlehem it took its rest;
And there it did both stop and stay,
Right over the place where Jesus lay.

Refrain

Then did they know assuredly
Within that house the King did lie;
One entered it them for to see,
And found the Babe in poverty.

Refrain

Then entered in those Wise Men three,
Full reverently upon the knee,
And offered there, in His presence,
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.

Refrain

Between an ox stall and an ass,
This Child truly there He was;
For want of clothing they did Him lay
All in a manger, among the hay.

Refrain

Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord;
That hath made heaven and earth of naught,
And with His blood mankind hath bought.

Refrain

If we in our time shall do well,
We shall be free from death and hell;
For God hath prepared for us all
A resting place in general.

Refrain

Pat - Now, I would go into withdrawals if there was not a computer that I could hook up to the internet while I was there.  I do so much with the internet that I don't know what I would do without it.  Yes, I'm part of the post-modern generation that is totally hooked up.

Larry - I don't know about talented, I think it is mainly because I'm the only one they could put it on.  I do have a couple of teachers though that I can rely on heavily to do a lot of the work.

I'm home from work now, and will be relaxing the rest of the night.  I may actually play a computer game or something to relax.  My wonderful wife is cooking some fabulous chinese food for supper.... yummmmmmmm....  and my daughter is playing by herself.  Glass of Iced Tea by my keyboard....  Life is good.
A watched clock never boils.

CHINESE FOOD ... my favorite do share what sort of goodies that your wife is making up.  I also enjoy RIBS, EGG ROLLS, CRAB RAGOONS, PORK FRIED RICE !!  But, since I am diabetic it hard to stop myself with certain foods ... so do share what your having with the rest of us !!

PAT ... here are some special words to one of my favorite songs ...

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

Greetings again,

Chris and Margit, I wanted to say Hi and Thank you so for this days devotional as It is so true about using a hammer on marble, which I am sure God has felt about me at times.I am so pleased that he would find me worthy to spend time trying to chisel me into a blessing for him.. God bless you, both..

Pat, You are so sweey for your kind comments on Miss Cheryl and my caregiving of her.. It has been a long road for her and I.. I can remember her and I riding our tandon bike 20 plus miles a day and us eating outside at our favorite resturant where they never even took our order for we aways ate the same thing there..Now she has no clue as to a thing but she still is cheerful and  loving..
I was going to tell you we were in Regina 3 years ago at the Grand Nationals with one of our horses.. We would love to come back and travel some.

I am so pleased to let you know I will be taking 2 weeks off and spending the 14th to the 22 of December in Hawaii and than going to Oregon to see my mom  for Christmas.. I don't think she will be coming back here to live she is in a wheel chair all the time now.. And there is no room in her house for a wheelchair.. I will be taking alot of Photos in Hawaii and am looking so forward to it.. I spent  almost 3 weeks there last Christmas but  want to see my mom and so will only spend a week there this year..

I will be back in later..

God bless you, Alma

G'morning, friends,

I KNOW it's not morning, but my body thinks I needed all that sleep!  ;)

Danny treated me so lovingly, even borrowing a vehicle that was easier for me to ride in while I was there. And, the host and hostess and their family (no - I don't consider them to be landlords - they were much too kind) were absolutely wonderful.

We mainly just spent time together. His performance was great, and many people swung round to tell me how wonderful my son is and that he's the very best country entertainer on the circuit in Britain today.

Music, of course, for a proud mother's ears.

I'm still recuperating, but will get back into the swing of things pretty soon.

I finally had opportunity to speak with Jenny a few moments as we were already in the car park at the airport for my return. She sounded dlightful and I was thankful we spoke. She relayed that Ria's father is in the hospital with pneumonia.

Must go - my body says it has not rested quite enough yet.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
And I don't borrow from its sunshine
'Cause the skies might turn to grey.
And I don't worry about the future,
'Cause I know what Jesus said,
And today I'm gonna walk right beside him
'Cause he's the one who knows what is ahead.
There are things about tomorrow
That I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.
And each step is getting brighter
As the golden stairs I climb.
And every burden is getting lighter
And all the clouds are silver lined.
And, over there the sun is always shining
And no tears will ever dim the eye
And the ending of the rainbow
Where the mountains, they touch the sky.
There are many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.
Yes I know who holds my hand.

This will cheer you.......... :D

I love that song, too!  It was the song my daughter Jean sang just after she became terminally ill.  Now, every time I hear it -- or try to sing it -- I choke up.   :'(  But I still love it!  My mother used to sing it a lot, as well.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Well, since everyone was asking, my wife made just a simple stir-fry with Chicken and Mushrooms, and fried rice.  It was delicious as usual.  I'm looking forward to next saturday when she is going all out for the Chinese food.  She invited a bunch of her Belarussian girlfriends over to wish them Merry Christmas (S Rozhdestvom), just before we leave.  We'll be having Cashew Chicken (no cashews - my favorite), Sweet and Sour Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Veal Stir Fry, Kung Pao Chicken, Egg Rolls, and Crab Rangoon.  Can't wait!!!!!  I'll have to starve myself this week so I can eat a bunch on Saturday!!!  My wife is an awesome Chinese cook.  The girls she's invited over are coming early in the afternoon to help her cook and learn how to do it themselves.  I get to sit back and enjoy the meal :-)
