Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

It appears it is going to be a chatty day here in CP today.  That's good!

MIEKA, how wonderful to see you have been here!  I miss you SO much, my little sister.  And I pray you do get to be here in the US for the holidays and can come online more.  Blessings to you, dear one!

Liz, that is a really good poem you posted.

Pat and Etta Sue, hope you both feel much better and that right soon!

Papa John, please don't take a vow of silence here---we all love to read your encouraging posts.  Merry Christmas to you and Cornelia! :)

Chris, good to hear from you today, too!

Hi Soni!  Hi Mullet!  Hi Darryl!  Hi Kathy!  Hi Marilyn! Hi Jenny!  Hi Ria!  Hello Larry!

I will write a few lines while eating my lunch and listening to the wonderful Christmas music from Moody Broadcasting.  I went to coffee this morning and then to the "Y" and walked two miles.  My leg muscles are beginning to tell me about all this walking.  It is going to take awhile to build back the muscle tone.  I walked 30 laps of the gym.  In a few minutes I will go to the church to sing with the folks at Calvin Cove.  This will be our last day to sing Christmas songs and hymns this year.  They will not be there next week as the adult day-care center will be closed all week.

Mieka, sure good to see your posting and am looking forward to hearing more from you after you get to the USA.  My son is making a business trip to China right after the first of the year.  He is very excited about having the opportunity to make the trip.  They are staying a couple of days extra to do some sight seeing after their business is concluded.

Pat, was sorry to read that you hadn't been feeling well.  Also Etta Sue, you had good news but also some not so good in that you are still in pain.  Hopefully the medication will soon begin to relieve the pain.

Mullet, sorry to have to tell you that you didn't decipher my little riddle.  What it says is "As I was going around my cornfield, I met a cow, I called my dog to get that cow out of my cornfield."  It is a silly little story but one I have remembered all my life.

Marilyn, sure glad you got your car fixed and know you are relieved not to have a large labor bill for the repair.  Glad you have found someone to come and stay at your place and take care of your dogs.

Papa John, good to see your postings.  Don't be a stranger as we all look forward to seeing your postings.

Mullet -- sounds like you got busted on the chores thing!  8) ;)

Hi Papa John.  It's good to see your "green" self again.

Sorry I missed you Mieka.  It is great to "read" from you again.

Etta, sorry about your arm.  That has got to be annoying.  I hope it gets better soon (I'm wanting to see pics of that baby ;D)

I hope everyone is prepared to have your bestest CHRISTmas ever.  Here at the Shuford house we have told the CHRISTmas story (birth of Christ) probably a dozen or so times, because Travis likes to look at the picture (in his toddler Bible) of "Baby JEEshus," "Mareee," and "Jostheth."  On Christmas morning, each of the grandkids memorizes part of the story from Luke and they recite it at mom's.  Travis (23 months), Sawyer (4 years) and Brooks (25 months) are sharing the verse "Glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace, Good will to men."  Travis has to say the last four words.  He's got the "to men" part pretty good, but "goodwill" sounds kinda funny still.

Oh well, guess I've chatted enough.  My prayers are for each of you to have the most spirit-filled Christmas you have ever had!

love

The First Noel
(Click to hear music)

"There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified." Luke 2:8-9

Words & Music: Traditional English carol, possibly dating from as early as the 13th Century

The first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
In fields where they lay tending their sheep,
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.

Refrain

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.

They lookèd up and saw a star
Shining in the east, beyond them far;
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.

Refrain

And by the light of that same star
Three Wise Men came from country far;
To seek for a King was their intent,
And to follow the star wherever it went.

Refrain

This star drew nigh to the northwest,
Over Bethlehem it took its rest;
And there it did both stop and stay,
Right over the place where Jesus lay.

Refrain

Then did they know assuredly
Within that house the King did lie;
One entered it them for to see,
And found the Babe in poverty.

Refrain

Then entered in those Wise Men three,
Full reverently upon the knee,
And offered there, in His presence,
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.

Refrain

Between an ox stall and an ass,
This Child truly there He was;
For want of clothing they did Him lay
All in a manger, among the hay.

Refrain

Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord;
That hath made heaven and earth of naught,
And with His blood mankind hath bought.

Refrain

If we in our time shall do well,
We shall be free from death and hell;
For God hath prepared for us all
A resting place in general.

Refrain

Pat, so sorry to hear that you're not feeling so good these days. I wish I could send some of my wife's homemade Chicken/rice soup through the E-MAIL.

Here is a chuckle-for-health Story:   my wife had to take me to the hospital emergency room for sever knee pain.  When we got home and looked at the discharge papers from the hospital, we noticed that in the "patience description" area they had described me as "A WELL NURISHED MALE"  - hhmm, I guess that's one way of saying it!  ::)

Good afternoon everyone.  My absence is attributed to my living at the computer deeply entrenched in writing my book.  In quickly scanning past posts I see that Pat has been under the weather.  Unable to find a post giving the cause, but pray she will recover soon.  With pat being absent is like an ice cream sunday without the goodies.

I sincerely wish everyone a glorious Christ centered Christmas celebration.

SOMETHING TO CONSIDER.........

I would like to address the Real reason for Christmas.  Yes, we all celebrate the Christmas of our youth by sharing gifts with friends and loved ones, and it's always a pleasure to participate in this memorable occasion in our homes.  However, the true meaning of Christmas for "Born Again" Christians is the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Here's something we can all share with our unbelieving friends, another perspective of Christ.   His birth was prophesied 735-years before His birth, and this prophecy states He would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), of a virgin 685-years before He was born (Isaiah 7:14), at the time specified; 530-years before His birth (Daniel 9:25), He would go down to Egypt and would return (When His family fled king Herod's sword) (Hosea 11:1) 752-years before His birth, His triumphal entry into Jerusalem on a colt (Zechariah 9:9) 520-years before His birth, His betrayal for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12-13) 520-years before His death, and king David prophesied He would die by crucifixion approximately 900-years before crucifixion was invented by the Romans (Psalm 22).  There are just over 300 Biblical prophecies regarding Jesus Christ, and every one of them that have been fulfilled have been fulfilled to the very letter.  No errors.  There are more to come, but they will not be good news to those who have not accepted Him as Lord. When God created man He gave them "Free will", and we have the right to exercise our "Free will" as we please and accepting Christ as our Savior is a matter of personal choice.  That baby born in Bethlehem, was, is, and will always be, the Lord God Almighty.

Jenny

Amen and Amen Lee..Thank-You dear brother...We have a wonderful Saviour and our dearest friend...He is "Immanuel" God with us...
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. The Lord Bless you all.

Jenny

Well, I did it again.  :(  Not only did I take Sunday off from any "computering" but I didn't get online yesterday, either.  And today I had to go in to work for half a day.  So it took almost an hour and a half to just read what I've missed in NEM.  I haven't been anywhere else yet.

Janet, that story about the mother with four young children was a real hoot!  I've printed it out - Gene had to find out what I was making me laugh so hard. ;D  And I'm going to give a copy to our pastor.  I know he and his wife will enjoy it.  (He told Gene and me, when his three were all in their teens "You don't know what it's like!" - forgetting that Gene got six through that stage and I managed to let all three of mine survive.)

I got word from the hearing aid people this afternoon that my mother's hearing aids are ready.  Praise the Lord.  They weren't sure they'd be able to have them before Christmas.  Now it's just a matter of the nursing home being able to get her there to get them.

When we were at the eye doctor's last week we asked if they could possibly move his cataract surgery up so it could be done before the first of the year.  The co-pay on our insurance will be soaring after January 1.  Praise God they've moved him up to December 30 instead of January 13.   It meant a couple of changes in his driving schedule and my work schedule, but no problems there.  So next week at this time he'll be watching TV with a patch on his eye.   ;D  He's so anxious to get it done.

Sonja, thanks so much for the beautiful family card.

Guess I'd better check out some other places here.

Lots to read and all of it good!  So nice to hear from Mieka and also Papa John.  I miss your daily posts Papa John...

Sonja, thank you for the lovely Christmas Greetings.  It makes my heart smile when I see your wonderful family.

Today, I went to the Senior Centre and only six of us were there to carpet bowl.  It is my last time to do so at the Centre.  Moving day is next Tuesday.  Then Allen drove me over to visit with Al for awhile.  He is weak but in good spirits.  His bed looks out over the street and the window has a lovely nativity scene for him to enjoy.  The grandkids even strung lights on the medical pole and across the window.  He is well loved and cared for by both friends and family.

Tomorrow Wendy comes to take me to their home for a couple of days.  Will come back on Boxing Day as much still needs doing here.  We are going to have something or other delivered for dinner and go to the Carol Sing at the Alliance Church.  Christmas Day, Ralph is giving Wendy & I a break from the usual all day cooking of turkey.  He is taking us to a especially nice place in Victoria for an expecially nice dinner.  Wow!  So I am also well loved and cared for.....

The suite is coming along well.  It won't be finished before New Year as the fellow doing the work is stopping for the holidays...as of tomorrow.  That is okay.  Just wish it wasn't creating so much stress and work for my little daughter.

I am going to close this post and do another one with the words to a song that talks about how Mary felt when she was expecting the birth of Jesus.  It is a haunting song and Amy Grant sings it on a Christmas album 'Home For Christmas.'  Someone commented on the subject one time so this will be continued....

karmat

Good night all!  Would love to stay and chat, but I've got to go wrap presents.

Loveyouns

Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song)
     by Chris Eaton/Amy Grant

I have traveled many moonless nights.  Cold and weary with a babe inside and I wonder what I've done.  Holy Father you have come and chosen me
now to carry your son.
I am waiting in a silent prayer.  I am frightened by the load I bear.  In a world as cold as stone, must I walk this path alone.  Be with me now.  Be with me now.
Chorus:
Breath of Heaven.  Hold me together.  Be forever near me.  Breath of Heaven.  Breath of Heaven.  Lighten my darkness.  Pour over me your Holiness.  Pour over me your Holiness.  For you are Holy.  Breath of Heaven.

Do you wonder as you watch my face if a wiser one should have had my place.  But I offer all I am.  For the mercy of your plan. Help me be strong.  Help me be.  Help me.
Repeat the chorus twice.

I am always thrilled and chilled by the beauty of this music.  One can only realize how young and frightened Mary must have been.

Have a Blessed and Wonderful Christmas everyone.
God Bless,
Liz.

Liz.............

WOWZER!  Lots of posts to read.  I agree.....when you take a day off the computer it takes a long time to catch up. :)  Did I read where someone called "you" gabby?? ;D

Tomorrow we have our Christmas Eve brunch....and that will be at my house, so I'll see Jane tomorrow too.  :)
