Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

The calendar year, its beginning and end, place no limits on the faithfulness of God.

Our bank accounts and vacation days might be depleted by the end of the year, but God's compassions are unending, and His mercies are new every morning, all year long.

They are just as great and available to us on any ordinary day of the year as they are on January 1.

So instead of waiting for the "new year" in calendar terms, let's rely on His great faithfulness, and thank Him for it, every day of the year!
--Carl Knott

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
(Click to here music)

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and spring-time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Refrain

Well, yesterday was quite a day!  It was our 50th wedding anniversary, and they made us go up and stand near the pulpit, laid hands on us, and thanked God for us and prayed for us!  Then, after church, we went and had lunch at one of our favorite restaurants on Trinidad Bay.  We're still going to celebrate the 50th on this Thursday - we'll be going to one of the high-class restaurants locally along with our pastor and his wife.  So, thanks be to God!

AL MOAK!!!  50th???  YESTERDAY?  or is it THURSDAY?

What's the date of your 50th?

Marilyn:   Thanks for the nice wake up note - I will go there and check it out right now.  Thanks again for the information.

nards:  Yes, I listened to Reggie White - I will miss his young enthusiastic voice.

the news is so sad about the SE Asia region also very wary news about Russia and China joining forces for military exercises.   Try to ban things Made in China from your lives.

Carol

Marilyn

Banning things made in China will be hard to do there are so many of the everyday things we use that are Made in China.

Nards I too was a fan of Reggie white. A great Christian man.

Trials and Pain: Long Eternity to Enjoy Ourselves

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the
world, the love of the Father is not in him.... And the world is
passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God
abides forever.
--1 John 2:15,17

Any appeal to the public in the name of Christ that rises no higher
than an invitation to tranquillity must be recognized as mere
humanism with a few words of Jesus thrown in to make it appear
Christian....

Christ calls men to carry a cross; we call them to have fun in His
name. He calls them to forsake the world; we assure them that if
they but accept Jesus the world is their oyster. He calls them to
suffer; we call them to enjoy all the bourgeois comforts modern
civilization affords. He calls them to self-abnegation and death; we
call them to spread themselves like green bay trees or perchance
even to become stars in a pitiful fifth-rate religious zodiac. He
calls them to holiness; we call them to a cheap and tawdry happiness
that would have been rejected with scorn by the least of the Stoic
philosophers....

We can afford to suffer now; we'll have a long eternity to enjoy
ourselves. And our enjoyment will be valid and pure, for it will
come in the right way at the right time.
Born After Midnight, pp. 141-142

"Lord, may I be faithful to call people to that which is important
to You, at whatever cost. Thank You that 'we can afford to suffer
now; we'll have a long eternity to enjoy ourselves.' Amen."

I, too, am so glad that Janet is in Kansas.  Also I don't know if Mieka would have been in danger if she were in China but I am glad she is in the States as well.

Driving to church was kind of scary at times.  Every thing was white and then there were times where I was driving through thick white fog.  Praise God. no one was stopped in the road.

With the bad road conditions and the unusually amounts of snow fall right at Christmas our minister was surprised that we had over 800 people for the two candle light services Christmas Eve.  God is good.

I took Jerry home right after church.  His daughter had called and left a message that she would see Jerry Sunday afternoon but Jerry had already told me that it would be 4 pm. or later so I decided to come on home and have Christmas dinner at Ivalou's.  Both her daughters and their families from Ohio came.  Her son and family came.  One daughter and friend had tickets to see the Colts game in Indy so they came later.  What a game!  I am not even a sports fan but we watched it on TV.  Go Colts!!!  There were 16 of us and then Melissa and Greg came making it 18.

We bring White Elephant gifts....something that is good but that we no longer want.  Then we play Merry Christmas Bingo with decks of cards.  When you 'Merry Christmas', you have the choice of choosing a new gift or steal someone elses!!!  It is always fun and gets the family to be united.

Jerry called Ivalou's and said that Lynn called and said they would come next Sunday.  Bummer for Jerry.

The two girls spent the night at Ivalou's.  They are still there.  I got up and got online.  Jerry was online so I went to Pendleton and got him.  He left his medicine in my car and felt he needed his medicine.  His car is here.

What a beautiful morning it is/was.  Cold....earlier it was -1°F...now 12°F.  But every thing was covered with white frost.  Every little twig, wire on a fence, electric wires....everything.  Beautiful.

I'm just popping in to say hello!  Both my granddaughters are here---a first for us!  They have been here at the same time with their parents, but not just them before, so it should be an interesting day.  Right now, they just can't decide what they want to do.  I think they expect Grandma to entertain them!  :-\

Anyway, I wish all of you a joyful and peaceful day, and my thoughts and prayers go out to the poor victims of the weather in Asia.  What a catastrophe!  I cannot imagine such devastation and loss of life, even seeing the pictures on television.

See you later, need to get these girls "sorted out."

* Good Afternoon Friends *

I'd been here this morning but my husband wanted to get to Ft. Wayne to pick up a car battery & a VCR for his parents while the crowds were low in number so that's what we did first thing this morning. WOW we got right in & found what we were looking for & I even got some good bargins too.

The money that my MIL gave me I bought a couple of really nice sweaters in light blue & red ( I'll get a picture of me in them ) then over at Wal*Mart with the money that my husband gave me I bought another pair of jeans * jacket * mixing bowls * address book. So, all I need to do is get everything washed up & hung up in the closet.

We also made a stop at STARBUCKS for a COFFEE ( not impressed ) so we then headed home & the trees were beautiful too & watching the snow come down on them made it all the more special & we are hoping that our digital camera will hold a charge long enough to get some pictures for me to share.

So, our good friend AL had a 50th Wedding Anniversary yesterday well here is a little picture that a good friend sent me so I hope that you will enjoy it AL ... so many more special days ahead for you & your wife.

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

Yes, I know it's almost noon, but finally I'm better able to function today. My son is taking me to a town not far away where they have a really huge WalMart which also has a section of aids for those of us who deal with handicaps.

I hope to get a bath bench and a hand held shower head with some of the money on WalMart gift cards.

Larry, thanks for the private message. I've wanted that lady's email and web address for some time. Will work on the instructions when I return this afternoon.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Hi everyone.  Don't have much planned for today as have already been to the "Y" so plan on working on some of my computer projects this afternoon.  I will probably slip in a nap somewhere in the afternoon.  The housekeeper is here but should finish up before too much longer and everything will be nice and clean and sparkly again for a few days until we mess things up.  We still have our tree and decorations up but sure Pat will take them down before the housekeeper comes again in two weeks.

I heard on the news this morning that the casualty toll in SE Asia is up to 21,000 and there are 485,000 homeless at the moment.  In all likelihood these numbers will grow.  Certainly a tragedy with so much destruction and heart break.

Tbear, that sounds like quite a shopping morning you all had.

Janet, it sounds like you will be very busy today with your granddaughters.  What a priviledge you have to spend this time with your granddaughters.

Etta Sue, it sounds like that was quite a family get together.  Jerry, sure sorry the plans with your family were delayed a week and that you had to miss spending the time with Etta Sue's family.  At least you can be looking forward to next weekend.

Hi Chris and Margit.

Al, happy 50th to you and Marbeth.  That is a wonderful accomplishment.  We have about 6 1/2 more years before Pat and I reach that milestone.

Marilyn, I am also going to check out the PSP lessons.  Haven't decided whether I want to commit the time needed but will at least look at the site.

Pat, thank you for the fine devotional thought today.  Also Chris, thanks for the additional devotional material.  One of my Christmas gifts was a little book of devotional readings written by Billy Graham in a nicely bound little book.  It is called "Hope for Each Day" and has a separate reading for each day.  I am on my last week of Bible reading to complete the reading in a year plan.  Now I need to look for a different plan to this next year.

Ruth Ann, glad you are feeling better and I hope find what you want at the Wal-mart.  If any of you are interested in what I sent to Ruth Ann and also to Janet, it was a copy of the Kim Komando Newletter that talked about getting digital pictures off your digital camera.  You can find her site by doing a Google search for Kim Komando.  I find she has some interesting tips and information from time to time.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Sonifo

Good day!

I am off to work out.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hello everyone!!

Just poppin' in to say hi right now.  Bernard and I are trying to plan a party of Travis's 3rd birthday.  We want him to have some attention all his own before the baby arrives.   I think we've decided to do it here, at our house, but haven't decided on anything else yet.  Any suggestions?

The news from Asia is devastating.  Every board I've been on seems to have members or friends of members there, that are still unaccounted for.  So sad.

I'd better go.  I've got to get Travis dressed and go run some errand.  It's warmed up to 33F so if i leave now, I might make it back before it starts dropping again!

laters!

Well, Katy and I took Abby back to meet her mom, as they are going to Dodge to visit her great-grandma this afternoon.  Both of the girls wanted to do an oil painting---nothing else would satisfy---so we did.  Abby only got her sky and mountains done before she had to leave, but Katy got hers finished, just now.  I have to take her in the morning to meet her Dad, so she doesn't have much time either.

Yes, Larry, I am SO blessed to be able to spend time with these little girls.  Abby is 7 now and Katy is 11.  This is really the first time they have been together like this, but I hope it will not be the last!

Death toll stands now at 23,500, latest radio report I heard just a few minutes ago.  I did talk to my young friend Joe last night, he is fine.  He is in or near Bangkok, and the devastation is in the south part of the country----scuba diving area.  So very sad to think of all those lives wiped out in an instant, and the millions left homeless, too.

Larry, the problem I have is with a CD that Walmart made---there don't seem to be any images on it.  I should have put them on my computer, but it deletes them from the card, and I wanted a CD, too.  I must learn how to burn them myself.  Grrr....  But thanks so much for your thoughtfulness in forwarding the newsletter.  I'm sure there will be tips I can use.

This grandkid wants attention, so I better give her some (more) so she will want to stay with me again sometime!  ;)

Home for the afternoon break and not much of it left. I have to stop at the Vet to pick up a couple of tranquilizers sor Happy. He has an appointment tomorrow as his ear is looking infected again, then I will need another for the follow up visit in two weeks. I tried yesterday to get him into the car and he wasn't having any of it. He slipped out of his collar and stood looking at me like I was crazy. So we came back in th e house. so much for the practice run in the car.

I started to work on His and Bebe's Christmas photos last night and PSP froze up on me and wouldn't do anything. So I quit. I photo had more than 29 million bytes and  it wouldn't compress . Will try again tonight.

I actually got Fay to eat some of my Enchiladas today.  It is so hard to get her to eat new things. This morning she had me roll her bacon in flour before I cooked it, after she had soaked it over night in water to get the smoke taste out of it. I never heard of that before and it tasted like pure tastless fat to me. I only took a bite to see what it tasted like.

Well back to work soon.
