JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.
Joshua 3:5

Abide in him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
1 John 2:28

The Israelites were to set themselves apart from everything because the next day God was going to do wonders among them.

The long awaited entrance into the Promised Land was about to happen. Dear believer, God is about to do a greater wonder among us. He is going to send His Son to the clouds to call us to be with Him forever.

Unlike Israel, we have not been told the day or the hour so we need to live today as though we will see Him tomorrow.

It May Be At Noon
(Click to hear music)

H. L. Turner

It may be at morn, when the day is awaking,
When sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking,
That Jesus will come in the fullness of glory
To receive from the world His own.

Refrain
O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song?
Christ returneth, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen, Hallelujah! Amen.

It may be at midday, it may be at twilight,
It may be, perchance, that the blackness of midnight
Will burst into light in the blaze of His glory,
When Jesus receives His own.

O joy! O delight! should we go without dying,
No sickness, no sadness, no dread, and no crying,
Caught up through the clouds with our Lord into glory,
When Jesus receives His own.

Well it's not quite morning here yet. So I am a little early ::) a few minutes early.

Pat, I love reading your morning devotionals, every morning. I may not always say it but, I do.... :D

I need some help identifying these, objects.  I will take any ideas, anyone may have. They were made before 1938, I know that much.

Thank you

Good morning, friends,

Tbear, thanks for the bigger font. I apologize for being the old lady with the bad eyes. But, then again, I'm really thankful I HAVE eyes and can see, especially after that glaucoma scare.

Yesterday, first day back at work after the holiday was really hectic. But, hopefully, things will be better today.

Also, I checked out a vested retirement I have with a company I worked with for 12 years. Actually, that pension will start at age 65, so I'm very thankful. I see reason now to think I can make the much-needed repairs on my home. Praise you, Lord!

Y'all have a good day.

Thanks so much for that, Bob.  Much appreciated.  I know that the Moderators who help provide the daily devotionals will like to see that they are appreciated by you.

Your items are unknown to me.  I'll keep hunting though.

Hi Ruth Ann...  It's always so difficult to go back to work after several days off but even more difficult if you aren't feeling well.

Have a good day.

Good Morning to One and all who will enter the NEM door today. Please come in a stay awhile, have a cup of Coffee or Tea and one of those Krispy Kreme donuts over there on the counter. If you are diabetic I have made some little cakes with Splenda especially for you.

Not much new here today, It rained during the night but what else is new here on the Northwestern coast of America at this time of year.

This coming Sunday the new Pastor is coming to meet the congregation and our Sunday school hour will be spent hearing his testimony and fellowshipping with him and his family. He is 39 and has 2 children. That is all I know about im other than that he comes to us from Fresno California.

RuthAnn I am glad you are feeling better.

Bob ~ Your items look like fasteners that hold screens and windows in windows and outside doors to me. Maybe even to hold mirrors.  I don't believe it would be to have a matching one and a lock put in the holes...duh, you could use a screw driver to loosen one side and get whatever it is open!  Does someone know what they are?

Good morning.  I have heard from Kaye Don and Barb.  They are in Florida and are in their new Park Mobile Home.  Libby, the dog, loves her new home.  Jenna, a granddaughter (she's 18) that went with them, loves the golf cart and has already taken a ride with Grandpa on his Gold Wing.  Right now he has telephone use left by the previous owner.  Hope he has it for himself so he can have a faster dial up instead of using his cell phone.

I have a great-nephew who is on the fire department in Lapel.  Nick is an EMT.  They were transporting an injured person by ambulance to the hospital and the ambulance was struck by another vehicle.  Nick was taken to the hospital for observation because he said he was hurting all over.  No one in the family has told us anything so we are assuming Nick is fine and didn't have to stay in the hospital.  So a quick prayer would be appreciated.

Bright and sunny in Indiana.  Warmer...heat wave!!!  41°F!

Hi everyone.  Just a brief stop this morning as I want to get on with some projects that need doing.  It is a beautiful day here in Georgia and suppose to get into the 60s before the day ends.  That will be a welcome relief.

Trish, congratulations on the new baby.

Bob, I looked at the items but don't have a clue beyond what Etta Sue has suggested.  It appears they are definitely some type of fasteners.

Marilyn, just as your church is doing, our church will be welcoming a new senior minister on January 9.  I am very optimistic that the Lord will use his pastorate to help bring our church back to what it should be.  We have had a rough couple of years.

Etta Sue, sure hope your grand neiphew is all right.  Riding in an ambulance is dangerous as often people don't hear the sirens.  Glad your brother make it safely to Florida.  You have something to look forward to in a few weeks if you can go and visit with them.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today and I do hope you were able to get rested up some last night.  It sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Ruth Ann, that is wonderful news on your upcoming pension.  Unfortunately the expenses go on when we retire so all income is appreciated.  Hope your day today is less hectic at work and that you are feeling better.

We had a joyful time yesterday when our grandson, his wife and the new great grandson were here for breakfast and spent a little while with us.  The baby is so cute and so little.  I am hopeful that we will be able to see this one grow up as they will live in our area rather than 100's of miles away.  Unfortunately, as I have said before, our grandson will go back to military training for 7 months starting January 3rd and then will likely go to Iraq.  He will get a 2 week leave after the training so we hope to see him again before he leaves for overseas.

Hi to all those who stop by latter today and those who posted and I didn't mention.  I have read all of the postings.

Trials and Pain: Underneath Are the Everlasting Arms

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting
arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say,
"Destroy!"
--Deuteronomy 33:27

Surely Bible-reading Christians should be the last persons on earth
to give way to hysteria. They are redeemed from their past offenses,
kept in their present circumstances by the power of an all-powerful
God, and their future is safe in His hands. God has promised to
support them in the flood, protect them in the fire, feed them in
famine, shield them against their enemies, hide them in His safe
chambers until the indignation is past and receive them at last
into eternal tabernacles.

If we are called upon to suffer, we may be perfectly sure that we
shall be rewarded for every pain and blessed for every tear.
Underneath will be the Everlasting Arms and within will be the deep
assurance that all is well with our souls. Nothing can separate us
from the love of God-not death, nor life, nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature.

This is a big old world, and it is full of the habitations of
darkness, but nowhere in its vast expanse is there one thing of
which a real Christian need be afraid. Surely a fear-ridden
Christian has never examined his or her defenses.
This World: Playground or Battleground? pp. 7-8

"Lord, I'll go today in the power of these awesome promises. I'll
rest in these strong assurances. I'll face this 'big old world'
and its 'habitations of darkness' in complete peace as I trust
You completely today. Amen."

Jesus Wondrous Saviour!
(Click to hear music)

Jesus, wondrous Savior! Christ, of kings the King!
Angels fall before Thee, prostrate worshipping;
Fairest they confess Thee in the Heav’n above.
We would sing Thee fairest here in hymns of love.

Fairer far than sunlight unto eyes that wait
Amid fear and darkness, ’til the morning break;
Fairer than the day-dawn, hills and dales among,
When its tide of glory wakes the tide of song.

Sweeter far than music quivering from keys
That unbind all feeling with strange harmonies.
Thou art more and dearer than all minstrelsy;
Only in Thy presence can joy’s fullness be.

All earth’s flowing pleasures were a wintry sea,
Heav’n itself without Thee dark as night would be.
Lamb of God! Thy glory is the light above.
Lamb of God! Thy glory is the life of love.

Life is death if severed from Thy throbbing heart.
Death with life abundant at Thy touch would start.
Worlds and men and angels all consist in Thee:
Yet Thou camest to us in humility.

Jesus! All perfections rise and end in Thee;
Brightness of God’s glory Thou, eternally,
Favored beyond measure they Thy face who see;
May we gracious Savior, share this ecstasy.

Hello everyone!!

It is a cool day here in WNC.  Not too hot, not too cold.  Travis and I went to eat lunch with Bernard today.  His parents live on the route, so I stopped to let Travis see them.  He's there now -- wouldn't leave!  So, I've got a couple of "free" hours.  I think it might be a good idea to get all the toys from Christmas put away.  Whaddya think?

Reading about all ya'll get new pastors reminds me of the book by Francine Rivers that I just finished reading.  It's called "and the Shofar Blew."  Honestly, I didn't like it as well as some of her other ones, but I think it would make good reading for all young pastors going into a new church, and the older men who would be mentoring them.  Oddly enough, it would probably be considered a "woman's" book, though.

The news out of Asia is sad.  I've seen several speculations on "why" it happened (spiritual and otherwise), adn you know, I had a thought today.  It just did.  It was a natural disaster, and it is sad about the lives lost.  I trust God to make good come out of it, though, even if we never see it this side of heaven.

Bob, I can definitely identify two of those objects -- the round thingy on the left is called a penny, and the rectangular thingy with the lines and numbers is called a ruler.  As to the other, I have no ideas.  :-) :-)  (okay, okay, I crack myself up!)

Congrats to Jacob and Trish -- parenthood is a trip!

Have a great day.  I'm off to play with the toys.  I mean, I am off to clean up the toys!!

So true, KARMA.  I, too, am trusting God to bring good from chaos ... He is STILL in control, and this was no surprise to Him.

Trish and Jacob~I wish to add my congratulations to those of the others!  A new baby can bring such blessings to an already blessed home.  I'm happy for you.   :D

Lily of the Valley
(Click to hear music)

I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
Song of Solomon 2:1

Words: Charles W. Fry, 1881; first appeared in the Salvation Army's The War Cry, December 29, 1881.
Fry wrote the lyrics in Lincoln, England, while working with the Salvation Army there.

Music: William S. Hays; adapted by Charles W. Fry

I have found a friend in Jesus, He's everything to me,
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
In sorrow He's my comfort, in trouble He's my stay;
He tells me every care on Him to roll.

Refrain
He's the Lily of the Valley,
the Bright and Morning Star,
He's  the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

He all my grief has taken, and all my sorrows borne;
In temptation He's my strong and mighty tower;
I have all for Him forsaken, and all my idols torn
From my heart and now He keeps me by His power.
Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore,
Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal.

Refrain

He will never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here,
While I live by faith and do His blessed will;
A wall of fire about me, I've nothing now to fear,
From His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory to see His blessed face,
Where the rivers of delight shall ever roll.

Refrain

Thank you all for the nice comments on the "In the Kitchen" index.  It was a lot of fun and involved a lot of selecting, copying and pasting.  I hope it will be useful in finding the recipes you might want as we will try to keep all of the recipes links on that one page.  Seeing all the good recipes almost (but not quite) makes me wish I could cook.  I feel I do my part by eating.  Fortunately my wife is a wonderful cook.

We only had 9 turn out for choir practice tonight but we got started on our Easter music.  We will be doing selections from the Messiah and have only 12 practices to learn the practice the music.

Time to say goodnight.

The rain is coming down. It is that strom we have been expecting to come in from the Gulf of Alaska. The weatherman said there would be lightening and thunder. Ok that means that Happy will be sleeping nestled next to me so tight that I will have very little bed to sleep on.  :o He doesn't like thunder. It doesn't bother Bebe. Pat how is Geordie with thunder or fireworks?

Good evening all....I'm just popping in for a few minutes.....lots of time spent, reading other forums here.

Bob:  I can't help you out too much with those items either....I did check out that site, and see where some of OUR members post there as well.  I think it would be fun to have an 'ANTIQUE page" here on C.P.

What do you think, Pat?  Could we do something like that?

TBEAR:  Where in Ohio do you live?  My son used to live in Medina, Ohio....do you know where that is?

I am so upset too, about that devastation in Asia.

Now, I must check out that prayer forum that Pat has mentioned......see you there...
