Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

THE HEART
of the
PROBLEM

Have you noticed that dishonourable conduct and downright dishonesty appear to be sweeping our nation from Parliament to the market place?  It seems that the depravity of man is in evidence everywhere.  Adulterous relationships are condoned.  Incest is on the increase and crimes of violence are reported on a daily basis in our newspapers.

On the international scene things are no better.  Terrorism, war, aggression and hate abound on every hand.  The humanists' dream of a world united in universal brotherhood and peace is but a hollow joke.  Man has proved that he can not govern his own lust for power and pleasure.  How then does he hope to rule creation in goodness and justice?

The sociologist and the humanist tell us that the problem lies not with man, but rather with man's environment.  Such an argument is surely foolish, for man has made his own environment what it is.  Our cities, our slums, our dens of iniquity, our battlefields and our bombs are all the products of man's depraved ingenuity.

Almost 2,000 years ago the Lord Jesus Christ declared man's heart to be the problem.  He said, "Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies; these are the things which defile a man" (Matthew 15:19-20).  The Bible also asks a pertinent question and supplies the only reasonable answer:  "From whence come wars and fightings among you?  Come they not hence even of your lusts that war in your members?" (James 4:1).  This state of affairs is common to all human beings.  "For all have sinned and come short of the glory (standard) of God" (Romans 3:23).

All of us are born in bondage to iniquity (see Psalm 51:5) and we need to be set free.  The only one who can set us free from the slavery of sin is the Lord Jesus Christ.  He Himself said, "If the SON shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36)

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus the spotless, sinless, Son of God became Man and paid the price necessary to redeem us from sin.  That was indeed a costly transaction, for He paid the price in His Own Blood.

The Bible says, "Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things such as silver and gold, from your vain conversation, received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious Blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and without spot" (I Peter 1:18, 19).

L. E. Jones, the hymn writer, knew the power of the redeeming Blood of Jesus when he wrote: "Would you be free from your burden of sin?  There's power in the Blood, Power in the Blood, Would you o'er evil the victory win?  There's wonderful power in the blood!"

Do you long to be cleansed and set free?  Then turn away from self and sin (repent) and place your trust in the Son of God who shed His Blood for sinners.  He was raised again from the dead to prove that He paid the redemption price in full.  Why not trust Him with your eternal destiny now?

The Bible declares that anyone who thus repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is saved for eternity and should:

• Be baptized (immersed in water).   Matthew 28:19 & Acts 2:41
• Join with others of like faith.                             Hebrews 10:25
• Separate themselves from ungodly systems.  2 Corinthians 6:16
• Tell others of God's grace.                               Matthew 28:19

Haven't read the devotional yet.  Wanted say that I have email photos to Pat for the Bi-weekly Challenge.  Since it is my first attempt at sending pictures, not confident that they actually went....Pat??

Will be back in the morning to study the devotional.
Pleasant dreams all.

Pat

Yes, Liz, I got two emails from you.  I have to study them to find out how to retrieve the photos and today has been a horrendous day for me with absolutely no spare time.  I really felt like I needed one of Chris's twins he posted.

Pat - I don't know when Jack wrote that devotional but it as relevant today as it was then, maybe more so.

I haven't been writing devotionals as I have been expecting and praying over a couple of testimonies that I am expecting. I'll link them when I get them. They are far more important than anything that I can write.

Happy birthday Ruth.

Welcome home Margit. Hubby has been leading the choirs in here while you were away and din't have time to get the duster out.

How am I doing so far Chris?

Congrats Marliyn on topping 2500. How is the new PC doing?

Jenny - Praying that all will be well sis.

Ria - Keep shining for the Dutch.

Good Morning

Pat a devotional that is perfect for the time we are in.

RUTHIE    HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Blessings for today
Ruth

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It was a rainy and very chilly night here in Georgia and it is not yet daylight.

Pat, the devotional today is excellent and so true.  We as humans are always finding something to blame other than recognizing the true cause of our problems.  What Jack wrote fits with an editorial I read in the paper yesterday that our Federal Communications Commission has decided that filty language is now acceptable on our broadcast television channels.  It seems that year by year the standards go down more and more.

Lee, sorry to hear of your new heart problems.  Heart disease seems to be progressive and one thing gets fixed and we feel well for awhile and then it pops up again.  Glad you are on top of the situation with your doctor.  I will be praying for you.

Ria, your writing in English gets better everyday.  You are doing a great job.

Jenny, sorry to read that your computer problems were not solved with the disks you received.

Happy Bithday Ruth.  Hope this is a wonderful day for you.

Chris, know you are glad to have Margrit home and Margrit glad to read that your mother is doing better and is hopefully on the mend.

Marilyn, 2500 postings is indeed a milestone.  Keep up the good work! :D

Janet, I can't image having three Christmas trees.  We do well to get one tree up and decorated.  Pat did get a new artificial tree this year as the old one had lost most of its needles.  She and her sister have it all decorated and this is probably the earliest we have ever decorated for Christmas.  I even wrapped my packages for Pat yesterday while she was at swimming.  She should like them as a couple of them are things she told me she wanted.

Today I need to get started on my Christmas cards and letters.  I have been busy the last couple of days preparing Christmas music for the Calvin Cove folks and today will go to sing with them.  I had to prepare new song sheets and write out quite a few Christmas songs I thought they would enjoy singing.  We are going to be "kids" again for awhile this afternoon as we sing some of the secular Christmas songs and then will finish up with the Christmas Carols.

Pat, I do hope you got your Avon items straightened out and packed.  Our son and his wife gave my wife an early Christmas present of the Avon lighted snowman and that is certainly a cute and delightful Christmas decoration.

Joyce, sorry to hear of the loss of your friend and neighbor, but what a wonderful way to leave this earth.  It is a shock for those left but a great way to go.

Sonja, sure good to see you posting often now.  We missed your posts during the summer.

A special good morning to Chris, Liz, Nards, Karmat and anyone else I have missed naming today.  It is about time to get out in the rainy weather and go up for coffee.

Happy Birthday Ruthie.  I hope your day is splendid!

We ahve snow!!!  I would be really, really excited, except Bernard had to go to work (about 45 miles away) and he said it was really bad.  As it is, I am just excited, but will be really really excited (not ot mention relieved) when he gets home.  Hey Nard -- did you hear about the truck on Green River Bridge?

Have a good day.  I've got a toddler going full speed, so I suppose I should at least stay within seeing/hearing distance. 8)

Good Morning. Thank you Pat for the devotional from Jack today.

It took me over 1/2 hour to get online and I don't know why I am having problems.

After work today I am taking my ar to the garage owned by the brother from my church to see if he can fix the window. I sure do hope so.

Must move on now to the other forums. Yesterday I posted a prayer request for the husband of a couple I worked for down south, his condition does not look good.

Excellent devotion from Jack, Pat! Thank you!

My little addition to it:

Do Not Be Yoked With Unbelievers

2 Corinthians 6:14-18

14) Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
15) What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
16) What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
17) "Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
            Touch no unclean thing,
            and I will receive you."
18) "I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters, says the
            Lord Almighty."

Good morning fellow Cp'ers!

Boy, did I have a busy day yesterday afternoon.  It was non-stop running around from here to there.
<Soni wonders if every Wednesday will be that busy>
I did sleep good!

RIA~You did it!  Yah, you go, girl!!!! You are quick learner.  I love reading your post. They are all so colorful and you post some great poems. Love you!
Thanks for the prayers.   :-*

Thank you, LARRY!  I have been able to post more because I don't go outside often.
::)  It is way to cold for me. Today we got some snow. Not much, but I thought I would share some with you folks who don't get any.
Are you ready?
Hold your hands out!

Catch !

hehehehhe...did you catch it? Was it cold?  hahahha...

I don't have to much going on today.  Just taking the boys swimming.  They have a swim meat Sat. and Sun.

The kids and I are going to make some ornaments for the tree.  This will be Chandraya's first time making them.  She is jazzed!

Janet

As others have already said, Pat, Jack's devotional is very timely for today.  I heard on TV last night about some of the terrible rulings your government in Canada has made, regarding "hate speech" etc.  And it is getting so bad here as well.  Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Sonja, your addition was "right on" as well.  We usually think of "unequally yoked" as referring to marriage, but I think it also means in relationships with friends, etc.  If we are Christians, we cannot afford to spend a lot of time hanging out with people who are against all that we hold dear.  We need to witness to them, yes; we need to live our lives in such a way that they see there is a difference; but our closest friends should be those who have a "like, precious faith."

Larry, I have more trees upstairs!  Want another one?  We bought several of the small fiber optic ones a few years ago from a store here that re-sells things that were bought from large stores, then returned for whatever reason.  They were very cheap!  ;D  And small--I noticed we had three or four of the little 18" ones.  I am going to take one up to the nursing home and set it in Mom's room.  She will enjoy it.  One little tree I am decorating with all shells from our trips.  So far, it has three things on it, plus the lights.  One more project....just what you need at this season, right?  ;)

Lee, I am so glad you told your friend it is NOT God who causes sickness.  The devil is the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy.  I get really upset when I hear people blaming my loving Lord for the works of the enemy!

Today is painting class day, so I won't get as much done here as I want.  I got my Christmas cards, and anxious to get started on those.

Gotta run, see you later!

I'm happy that you all enjoyed Jack's little writing so much.  I did too!  ;)

HEY KARMA and NARDS!!  I just heard that Ashville is going to be treacherous driving with the snow.  Isn't that near you?

Yep.  I drive right through there going both directions.  (I live about 20 miles west of Asheville and work about 25 miles south of Asheville).

It wasn't terribly bad getting here, but the day is not done.

A thing that our Northern friends always have trouble understanding about North Carolina is that snow is not simple here.  We have many roads (even Interstates) that cross fairly high and steep mountains.  When this happens during the day, MANY people are away from home with no way to get home except crossing those mountains.  Add in the 18-wheelers that simply cannot move on the road or get off it either one, and we usually wind up with horrendous traffic jams.  It's rarely a situation of not being able to make MY car move - it's more often that there's 500 cars between me and the exit I need to take, and they can't move because 5 miles ahead, an unlucky trucker is sideways in the road.  At that point, everyone tries to take back roads, and they become incredibly jammed as well.  Our state is incredibly unlucky, because we don't have enough snow statewide to convince policy makers in Raleigh (where it rarely snows) to buy enough equipment, salt, and sand to properly take care of the roads in short order.

My 45 mile trip has taken me as long as 4 or 5 hours on many wintry occasions.

So, now that I've complained, I'll shut up and git.  I might be back around later.  Kinda busy here in the office today, and that weather has me nervous, too.
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

To add to what Nards said.  We also get kidded a lot about everything shutting down with only an inch or two of snow.  There is NOWHERE here that is flat or straight.  Nothing like trying to navigate a mountain road with an inch of snow on it!  :o

Nards, is there anything you can do at home?  I'll let you have the 'puter, I promise.   :-\

I finally got Capt. Destructo to take his nap. It only took an hour.  :-\  He'll probably sleep 15 minutes.  hahaha

I'm baking a loaf of bread in my bread maker.  There may be some left for supper.   :P

I like what you said about being yoked with non-believers.  I've always encouraged the young people in my life that it is okay to be friends with non-Christians, but our closest friends should be Christians.  I think Jesus modeled that for us.  He loved everyone and related with everyone, but his 12 closest friends were the disciples.  (I acknowledge that Judas poses some issues, but him notwithstanding . . .)
