JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

We are back from a whirlwind trip to San Francisco and I picked up something that has given me larynigitis so will have to cancel the family gathering here tomorrow as it may be contagious.

Sonja:  You are teaching your children to "fly" when you let them learn how to do things and do them on their own.  My greatest compliment was when our daughter told me that I had taught her to "fly "when I was telling her about how difficult it was to work and raise 4 children at the same time and Don travelling so often - it is true as they are very independent and capable.

Iain:  You have a lovely message this morning.

Pat Scott:  We met Adrienne and had a wonderful visit.

Good Mornign I was unable to get on CP all day yesterday and all last night.; I had to change ISP's because netzero kept kicking me off as soon as I got on. SO I kicked them off my computer. I am now with PeoplePC.com for only $10.95 per month.

I was next door from 4 p.m. yesterday until about 8:30 helping Gilbert with the kids. He had a surgical proceedure yesterday and wasn't able to do much.

Anyway I am off the read the other forums.

Well, Good Morning Everyone...

Sure glad to read Iain's lovely devotional.  Thanks Iain.  My printer is printing it out as I type.  I'll go through it more closely a little later with my Bible open.

Well, I had a lovely day yesterday but for some reason, I was so tired.  I dozed on the sofa when I finally got home and slept all night so well.

Now, I'm going to be delivering Avon today.

Sorry you are home with a "bug", Carol.  Not nice.  Glad you had a nice visit with Adrienne.

Hey, Janet!  Sounds like you had a nice night last night too.  I'd love to do something like that.  We have some small little theatres in our area in many of the little towns and Judy McKenna and Norm have told me of going and having a good laugh from time to time.

Speaking of Judy McKenna, let's keep her husband, Norm, in prayer.  For quite some time, he's been under the weather and they just couldn't come to the reason for this until recently and he's got heart failure and his lungs are involved as well.  He was to have some surgery but he couldn't have it due to the condition of his lungs.  So...pray for the McKenna's.

Hi Marilyn...  Nice that you live so close now to Gilbert that you can give a hand with the kids.  Bet you were happy to be there with them.

Re PSP7 and PSP8, I agree wholeheartedly, Chris.  I am going to take some classes in the New Year on PSP8 and hopefully, I'll get more used to it.  I've been using PSP since version 3.14 and have seen many changes over the years.

Hi Sonja!  Enjoy that swim meet!

I'll be back later.

Guess we're all entering our busy time of the year now.

Trials and Pain: Faultfinders

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of
the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every
side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
--2 Corinthians 4:7-9

Nowhere else in the entire New Testament is the humanity of the
great apostle [Paul] seen so clearly as when he staggers under the
cruel attacks of the anti-Paul bloc in the Corinthian church. His
sufferings are there the most poignant and nearest to the sufferings
of Christ because they are inward and of the soul. For always the
soul can suffer as the body cannot....

But from Paul and his afflictions we may learn much truth, some of
it depressing and some altogether elevating and wonderful. We may
learn, for instance, that malice needs nothing to live on; it can
feed on itself. A contentious spirit will find something to quarrel
about. A faultfinder will find occasion to accuse a Christian even
if his life is as chaste as an icicle and pure as snow. A man of
ill will does not hesitate to attack, even if the object of his
hatred be a prophet or the very Son of God Himself. If John comes
fasting, he says he has a devil; if Christ comes eating and
drinking, he says He is a winebibber and a glutton. Good men are
made to appear evil by the simple trick of dredging up from his own
heart the evil that is there and attributing it to them.
We Travel an Appointed Way, pp. 79-80

"Deliver me today from faultfinders and those of a contentious
spirit. Satan has used these so often to discourage and attempt to
defeat me. Silence them today, for Your glory. Amen."

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Pat

Thanks Chris for sharing that.

He Giveth More Grace
(Click to hear music)

Author: Annie Johnson Flint
Musician: Hubert Mitchell

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater;
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase,
To added affliction He addeth His mercy;
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.

Refrain

His love has no limit; His grace has no measure;
His power has no boundary known unto men.
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again!

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done.
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.

Refrain

I didn't get online yesterday at all.  God does answer prayer.  I have a full day today also and was praying that I could get caught up on CP fairly quick.  And, lo and behold, CP was down so ya'all couldn't post your dozen posts each... ;) ;)

I was on the computer nearly 16 hours yesterday...Why? you ask!!!  I print out calenders for family and friends.  Then I have these magnetic strips that the pages slide into and you can stick them on the front of your fridge.  Lots of room to write appointments on.  But I also type out family and friends birthdays so they don't have to write them on.  I had forgotten that last year, 'January' wouldn't print out right.  So I ended up using a whole new program for making my calender.  Three calenders are just immediate family info...the rest are bunches of info.  But I got it done.  Then found numerous mistakes.  So I will probably print the first three out again!!!  Woe is me!!!

Today is our Victorian Dinner at church tonight.  I am taking Ivalou and two nieces.  When you enter our church, you feel like you are entering a 5 Star hotel...the entry hall is transformed with Christmas Trees lit and decorated.  Our Grand Piano is being played by a pianist.  Then when you enter the CLC, you are in a huge dining room with 60 round tables set up and decorated by 60 different ladies with their own china, crystal and silverware and decorations.  We will have dinner that will be served by the men in the church...all dressed in tuxes and suits and last year all 480 women were served and eating in 20 minutes.  Then we have a guest speaker....talk about being pampered!!!

Etta Sue that sounds like such a lovely dinner. Do you dress up in victorian clothing too. That would be a neat thing to do.

4.30 p.m. in England.

Got you!  Praise God!.......I kept trying yesterday and this morning Pat to no avail, just messages popping up to try "Netscape" and that didn't get me to you either.

Iain Thankyou for the devotional. The Lord works His purpose according to the circumstances.  Yes He does all things well.  His timing is absolutely perfect.

Riathe German Christmas market is in Birmingham centre for a couple of weeks....Lovely food.......Don't the Germans love cakes and cream? I went to Austria many years ago and really enjoyed the strudel and cream in the mountaintop cafe.....

Etta Sue Have a wonderful time at the Victorian do. Wish I could come, sounds very Christmassy.  That will get you into the seasonal mood alright.

Chris and Margit Hello.  Hope Margit has cleaned up now....

Sonja I have been praying for you and thinking of you....what was the result please?

Marilyn  Oh dear more "puter" problems.  Mine is still very slow. The update isn't "all that".

                         DRAKE WELCOME

I know there is a lot of catching up to do on site so will be back later to have a peep.

Love and prayers.

Hi Jenny...

Yes the site was back up and running last evening.  They had a terrible day of everyone of their clients complaining (including me!!!) but they could do nothing as it was beyond them and involved their upline server.

Sometimes when you have trouble getting our site with one browser like Netscape, it's a good idea to try the other one (MSIE) or whatever as sometimes you are viewing the cached version.  Click "RELOAD" or "REFRESH" often to make sure you're getting the latest version.

Ian, I enjoyed reading your message today on Psalm 146:7, thanks for sharing your heart.  :)

I sometimes think we should just seek God, not His will.  The reason I say this is,  His will is not something to be known apart from him.  When we get to know Him, and talk to Him; someway he will guide our steps.

My life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.  We often talk of open doors as Paul also did, but we need not try to limit God in any certain way.

Just think of some of the ways He reveals himself: a burning bush, a pillar of fire, and a cloud, a ladder stretching into heaven, a man's donkey and etc.

When God goes after someone, He speaks in whatever way necessary to communicate His will to that person.

Our job is to seek God in the most deep and personal way we can.  God will lead us and make our paths straight.

Thank you Ian for your morning devotions to this web site. :)

Thank you again for letting an old man share a
few thoughts of his own.  ;D

Yep, it's a Cheshire cat, from Alice in Wonderland.
And it just loves spiders.
Unlike my wife! lol.

Boots how nice to see you picture, now we can see how is writing all these wonderful posts.

Chris, That Cheshire cat is something, new color isn't he.

Please pray that my son Gilbert's pain will be relieved today, his surgery was a MAN thing. So you brother's know how to pray for him.

Yes, the camera battery is all charged up and plenty of floppies in the case.  I am hoping this year to get a list of who has what table.  Maybe Ivalou can write them down for me.  No, we don't dress up Victorian style.  Some  are real dressy, some are dressy, some in jeans and a Christmasy top.  Doesn't make any difference.  Just there to be pampered and have a wonderful time that we can talk about the whole year!

I got this in an email today.....

Why is Jesus better than Santa Claus?

Santa lives at the North Pole ...
JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh ...
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year ...
JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies ...
JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited ...
JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters
your heart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa ...
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap ..
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is
"Hi little boy or girl, what's your name?" ...
JESUS knew our name before we were born.

Not only does He know our name,
He knows our address too.
He knows our history and future and
He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly ...
JESUS has a heart full of love

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO ...
JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry" ..
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."

Santa's little helpers make toys ..
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs
broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but ...
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree ...
JESUS became our gift and died on a tree.... The cross.

We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas,
Jesus is still the reason for the season.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16[/color]

Etta Sue, I remember your photos of that event last year!  Wonderful, and so fun!  Wish I could go with you, but pictures are the next-best thing.  I also wish I was as computer savvy as you, I would love to do a calendar.  Oh, well----I plead ignorance! (Saves me a lot of time, too. ;))

I'm just popping by between tasks-----see you all later!

That was a great devotional Iain.  I have felt like a 'spiritual' prisoner here in my town for the past 13 years.  Realize now that there was a reason and God had the answer.  TMI for here.  When the Lord is ready for the next step, he provides the reason and opportunity.  Have learned to wait for that!

Chris, you really do make my day.  Thanks for all the wonderful graphics.  My granddaughter is really interested in going that route with her wonderful artistic talent.  Many opportunities in that field, tho' hope she will choose teaching instead.  Will have to do much praying for her to make the choice that will be just right for a career.  That is something only she can decide.

Loved your story about the trees Janet.  That is what I was hoping people would respond to....tales about Christmas Trees, past and present!

Wouldn't mind a piece of that shortbread.  Or a dinner like Etta Sue attended.  We are having our Seniors' lunch next week at church and am taking a friend (Alice) from another Baptist Church.  Rather, she is taking me, since it is her car.

Back to the packing.  My poor bird is puzzled by all the change going on.  He keeps demanding more lettuce than usual!

I have to include my echo to your words, BOOTS.  I love it when my Father quietly nudges me in one direction or another ... without my even asking for His advice.   :)  In all the seemingly "small" things of life, He is guiding and leading and holding my hand.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.   ;)

Away in a Manager
(Click to hear music)

"She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:7

Words: Verses 1 & 2, anonymous, in Little Children's Book for Schools and Families, by J. C. File (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Evangelical Lutheran Church in North America, 1885). Some sources show the author as Martin Luther; this attribution (probably incorrect) is based on the title "Luther's Cradle Hymn," given to these words by the composer, James Murray, in his Dainty Songs for Little Lads and Lasses (Cincinnati, Ohio: The John Church Co., 1887). Verse 3 is by John Thomas McFarland (1851-1913)

Music: "Mueller," James R. Murray, 1887

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle til morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to live with Thee there.

A very simple, yet profound though Boots. many thanks for it. I'll chew that over for a while. He has of course revealed His will for us through the Scriptures but I understand your point. Thanks bro.
