Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: because His mercy endureth for ever.
Psalm 118:1

This psalm speaks of a gate, a stone, and an altar (vv. 20, 22, 27).

The gate symbolizes the way by which we approach God; the stone emphasizes the reliability and permanence of the One to whom we come; and the altar, the sacrifice of a life--the price of entry.

These truths are echoed in the words of the Lord Jesus, "I am the way"--the gate; "the truth" --the stone, "and the life"--through the altar.

So we say, "O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good."
--Drew Craig

I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live,
I will give thanks unto the Lord as long as I have my being;
My meditation of Him shall be sweet,
I will give thanks, I will give thanks unto the Lord.

Good Morning to all of you who enter this site today.

Pat thank you for your faithfulness at giving us a new devotion each day and thank you to those who are helping you with tha job, Etta Sue, Sonya, Al and Janet when she returns. You are all blessed.

It is still raining here with a lot of wind I lost power on one side I my living room, I think it is  from water getting into  the wall or something like that and shorting it out. So now I have a long extension cord going from my dining area to the Surge protector that has the Christmas tree, Outside lights and TV on it.

Still have some more work to do before we finish decorating the church We have 1000 lights ont he tree and that isn't really enough but will have to do since all the decorations are already on it. I will take photos when we are finished.

I want to thank all those who are praying for me to be led to my new home. I appreciate and covet your prayers. I fell at peace with this so I am not stressing over it.

Must get ready for work now.

GOOD MORNING FROM ... OHIO

I just stopped by to say HELLO & hope that everyone is doing well.  Well, it's once again Wednesday which means it's a church nite for all of us. As we are studying the Life of Christ & I must say that the class is really good too. Sure have learned a lot since we started the class. Our weather here in Ohio has been like springtime we had rain most of the day on Tuesday & then we had HIGH WINDS.  But the Lord blessed us with a wonderful rainbow & it was beautiful too. But, that will all change by the weekend ... SNOW is coming so just how much ?  I guess we will have to wait & see what we will be getting.

So, I better get going & check out a few more spots & then get going on getting some dessert made up for dinner tonight & it's a big hit in the family ( yes I'll be posting the cheeseball recipe too ) so take care one & all & I'll see you all again soon !!

Blessings & hugs,
TBEAR

Carol

Well, it is Don's birthday as well.  I gave him his gift last week - it is an Ott floor lamp and he really enjoys much easier reading now.  We are off to Denver this day and meeting two of the children.

Pat:  So sorry about your fall on ice.  It sounds like it just bruised in both knees but even that takes time to heal.

Larry:  Shopping at WalMart is always a difficult experience and I can understand why Pat needs to rest after such a day.

Zeebers:  I hope that you check back in here and come for some comforting words often.  You have a heavy load  - I think that you should be in our Prayer area.  I am praying for you and your grandson as well as your son.  Drugs are in control in his situation - may he find peace.  As for your brother in Mississippi, I pray for his comfort and that he will have the right message from someone to change his stubborn outlook.

Lord, make me an instrument of your love.
Carol

Etta Sue

Thank you for all the 'thank you for the devotion' yesterday.  I love doing them.

Pat, do be careful.  I worry about you.  I, too, worry about falling and wondering how long I would lie there before someone noticed...if I couldn't get up.

Zeebers, well, all I can say is my prayers are for you and your loved ones.  And I thought I had problems.

Good morning to everyone else.  It is gloomy here today.  Jerry and I are going Christmas shopping if I ever get off of this computer.  We are suppose to go for lunch somewhere and it is almost 10 now.  So Whhhhhhooooooosh!  I am gone!

Thanks TBear for wishing Noel a Happy Birthday.

Do you all have your birthday in your profile?

We love to have birthday parties on CP!

Once you have your birthday in there, then the software inserts that date and your name on the Calendar.

Windy and RAINY and RAINY and windy  here today!!!  Ahhhh.....I love it.  We are supposed to have high winds through the day and evening, I guess.  You know what that means!  Right?  Yep, you guessed it........

TO THE BEACH

Gotta see if those waves are up.  I'll take about 100 pics and maybe keep one. :)   Even without the camera I love to sit and watch an ocean storm.

Oh, Marilyn.....bless your heart.  You do need a new place to live.  One half of your power is out?  I don't suppose the land lord will do anything since he wants to sell?  Hurry, hurry, Lord....and get our sister our of there. Please.  amen.

Pat,  how are your knees?  Did the ice help the swelling?  Be sure and do what Etta Sue suggested...pack that cat litter on your knees too.....right over the ice. :-*

and now to the beach..........love, nita

Good morning!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOEL and DON!!!!!

It's still snowing in Rossland, BC.  It hasn't stopped snowing since Saturday morning.  Red Mountain Ski Resort is officially opening tomorrow, but the ski-bums have been out in full force all week, even WALKING up the slopes.  I just cross-country ski occassionally, but I wouln't mind learning backcountry skiing - sounds like a lot of fun.

PAT - how are your knees?

We got a new WalMart in Trail (that's the town 10 kms downhill from us).  I haven't been there.  The power is out in Trail anyway today (too much snow for the lowlanders).

My Subaru is getting it's snowtires put on today.  About time.

OK, off to work!

Chandraya and Zachery both got their shots.  They didn't do to bad.  I think I am the biggest baby when it comes to shots.

I have dance in an hour so I better get my dancing gear on.  Hope you all have a wonderful afternoon.  I run a little slow now since I am 104.  wooo... LOL

Every time I see that little poem at the bottom of today's devotional, I start singing this:

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever,
I will sing, I will sing,
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever,
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord.
With my mouth will I make known,
Thy faithfulness, Thy faithfulness.
With thy mouth, I will make known,
Thy faithfulness to all generations.
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever,
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord.

Trials and Pain: The Labor of Self-love

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if
I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
--Galatians 1:10

The labor of self-love is a heavy one indeed. Think for yourself
whether much of your sorrow has not arisen from someone speaking
slightingly of you. As long as you set yourself up as a little god to
which you must be loyal there will be those who will delight to offer
affront to your idol. How then can you hope to have inward peace? The
heart's fierce effort to protect itself from every slight, to shield
its touchy honor from the bad opinion of friend and enemy, will never
let the mind have rest. Continue this fight through the years and the
burden will become intolerable. Yet the sons of earth are carrying
this burden continually, challenging every word spoken against them,
cringing under every criticism, smarting under each fancied slight,
tossing sleepless if another is preferred before them.

Such a burden as this is not necessary to bear. Jesus calls us to His
rest, and meekness is His method. The meek man cares not at all who
is greater than he, for he has long ago decided that the esteem of the
world is not worth the effort.  The Pursuit of God, 112.

"Lord, give me this peace, this rest, this meek and humble spirit this
morning. Deliver me from concern for the esteem of this world. Give me
victory today over every trace of self-love. Amen."

Pat, the saying "when you feel that you are falling, fall on your knees" doesn't mean outside on the ice!!
It's to do with prayer, and preferably indoors! lol
Marilyn, you are a hardy lass, I pray God will move you out of that place rapidly!
Zenobia, you and I agree, never give up on anybody,, He never gave up on you and me"
Praise God for His infinite patience with us, :)

Hi, Jerry, snowmen or palm trees?? :D

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We have what our weatherman called a perfect 10 on his weather meter.  It is very sunny and clear and up to about 70 degrees.  However, we have more rain headed our way tomorrow.  We are going to go to church for the Wednesday evening dinner, Vespers and choir practice.  Pat will fix her packets for the kids for Sunday services while I have choir practice.

Zeebers, it is good to see you stopping by and I wish I could think of some words to express that could help ease your burdens.  All I can say is that I will be praying for you and those that you love so much.

Marilyn, your wiring situtation doesn't sound very safe.  I know you are being careful.  I certainly hope you soon find a new place to live.

Happy Birthday Don and also to Noel.

I need to be brief today as must get started on my Christmas cards and letters.  The time is fleeting.  We did get the packages we have to mail all wrapped and taken to the post office this afternoon.  Pat brought in the decorations and will work on decorating a little at a time for the next couple of days.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

karmat

LOL Chris...  That's so true.  I'll be careful from now on.

I think it was Ruth Ann that suggested kitty litter.  I tried that last year and it sure made a mess in my house from the bottoms of folks shoes so I think I'll just stick to my sand and salt.  I just have to be careful that the salt isn't too thick and is shovelled onto my bushes and little garden.

Hi Chris ~ I vote for palm tree's. I lived in Florida from 1978 to 1981 and I loved every minute of it. My wife and daughter loved it to, but our son hated every minute of it and guess who won out. He is in the army now and has spent most of his time where it is warm year round. LOL!!! ;)

Just stopping by to say good evening folks before I go to Bible Study. I've been busy today runing errands going tothe gym and to Tai chi. I picked up my layaway at K-Mart and bought dog food while I was there. I didn't make it to the church to help finish up decorating. They were there until 4 PM.

Thank you Chris, I guess I am pretty hardy to survive what life has brought  my way. My mother always told me I was a survivor when life got tough.

Yes Larry  am being careful, turning off the surge protector and making sure nothing catches fire. I had a problem withthe same sockets last year.

Pat ow are the knees todasy. You better be careful young lady.

Thanks for asking, Marilyn!  They aren't as bad.  I sure iced them a lot and Ibuprophen helps too and I took an extra celebrex.  They are sore but not as bad as I thought.

Well, it's settled, once and for all.  The New Testament says that husbands are to make the coffee.

I like that, "He brews".  Funny!

We've been without internet most of the afternoon, just when I was starting to feel smug and think that we were going to get away without any outages here in Rossland.  Too much snow everywhere, but it's finally stopped snowing tonight!  The bad news is that it is supposed to start up again tomorrow.  Oh well.
