JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Personal Life:
Alone With God

And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples.
--John 6:3

Just prior to this miraculous multiplying of the bread and fish, Jesus "went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples" (6:3). That fact is noteworthy. It seems plain that Jesus withdrew purposely from the great press of people who had been pursuing Him.

There are some things that you and I will never learn when others are present. I believe in church and I love the fellowship of the assembly. There is much we can learn when we come together on Sundays and sit among the saints. But there are certain things that you and I will never learn in the presence of other people.

Unquestionably, part of our failure today is religious activity that is not preceded by aloneness, by inactivity. I mean getting alone with God and waiting in silence and quietness until we are charged with God's Spirit. Then, when we act, our activity really amounts to something because we have been prepared by God for it....

Now, in the case of our Lord, the people came to Him, John reports, and He was ready for them. He had been quiet and silent. He had sat alone with His disciples and meditated. Looking upward, He waited until the whole hiatus of divine life moved down from the throne of God into His own soul. He was a violin tuned. He was a battery recharged. He was poised and prepared for the people when they came.
Dr. Tozer in Faith Beyond Reason, 130,133.

"Lord, I'll spend a lot of time in the company of people today, but just now I come in quietness and silence to wait for You to fill me. Amen."

Kneel at the Cross
(Click to hear music)

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name
that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confesss that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

by Charles. E. Moody

Kneel at the cross,
Christ will meet you there,
Come while he waits for you;
List to his voice,
Leave with him your care
And begin life a new.

Refrain
Kneel at the cross,
Leave every care
Kneel at the cross,
Jesus will meet you there.

Kneel at the cross,
Give your idols up,
Look unto realms above;
Turn not away
To life's sparkling cup;
Trust only in His love.

Refrain

Thank you Pat. I signed in and left Papa John and his wife a message. My heart goes out to them both. I really enjoyed the music above, it's beautiful. God bless you.

I am saddened to hear the news about Cornelia.  I am hurting just as the family is hurting.  We are family here so we are hurting.

On a lighter note...well, my mower would get clogged up with snow if I mowed my grass today.  And what a beautiful snow we have.  Everything is so clean, pure and white and it is one of those snows that everything is coated by the snow flakes.  All the twigs in the trees and bushes.  Even my clothesline is coated with snow.  God's Eye Candy!

I am off to 60 Chix today.  I only know of two people for certain that is going...Judy and I.  So it may just be us since the snow came.

Good Morning , I came in earlier looking to see if there was any news on Cornelia.I don't know if Papa John will be posting any place anytime soon so I will try to catch them on Skype later. But I am sure they will all be at the hospital.
It really surprised me that they would  call ME, I was so thankful that they  did.

Thank you Pat for the devotional, this morning? Did you notify everyone to come and pray for Cornelia. I have seen names that I haven't ssen in awhile.

The grandkids are here, they spent the night with me while  Gilbert, Sarah and her parents went to see at show at the Casino just down the road from thier house,. I would have liked to have gone too. They had an extra ticket until about an hour before I picked up the g-kids.

Good Morning Everyone...

It's a lovely sunny day here in Guelph but hovering around the zero mark.  I have some errands to run and then some much needed "shovelling" around my house as my vacuum cleaner needs to be used!

Will keep Papa John and Cornelia in my prayers as I do my work.

Yes, Marilyn, I sent out a letter to all members.

This is just in from Norm Tock.

I JUST hung up from talking Papa John and I  am ready to post this in SN.

I just got off the phone with Papa John. The fist thing he said was "I have good news." Cornelia had the respirator taken off and is breathing on her own again. If anyone has had one of those things on you  know how uncomfortable they are.
Is this a case of powerful prayers or just Dot's Miracle. I don't think we will ever  know however we may turn it over to Fox News where they can talk about it and then rehash it year after year.
As he was done talking he said to tell all of you "She is still in critical care - She has a nurse with her one on one. Right now things look pretty good.

I enjoyed the devotional today.
Its cold and we are just emerging from  another snow storm.
Hope its good for tomorrows services at church.

I will check in again later to see if there is any news on   Papa John and his wife, Cornelia.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and spring-time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

The Holy Spirit: Buried Under the Snow
Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
--Matthew 13:58
How many blessed truths have gotten snowed under. People believe
them, but they are just not being taught, that is all. I think of
our experience this morning. Here was a man and his wife, a very
fine intelligent couple from another city. They named the church to
which they belonged, and I instantly said, "That is a fine church!"
"Oh, yes," they said, "but they don't teach what we came over here
for." They came over because they were ill and wanted to be
scripturally anointed for healing. So I got together two
missionaries, two preachers, and an elder, and we anointed them and
prayed for them. If you were to go to that church where they attend
and say to the preacher, "Do you believe that the Lord answers
prayer and heals the sick?" he would reply, "Sure, I do!" He
believes it, but he doesn't teach it, and what you don't believe
strongly enough to teach doesn't do you any good.
It is the same with the fullness of the Holy Ghost. Evangelical
Christianity believes it, but nobody experiences it. It lies under
the snow, forgotten. I am praying that God may be able to melt away
the ice from this blessed truth, and let it spring up again alive,
that the Church and the people who hear may get some good out of it
and not merely say "I believe" while it is buried under the snow of
inactivity and nonattention.  How to Be Filled With the Spirit,
18-19.
"Lord, don't let me be guilty of keeping the truth of the Holy
Spirit's ministry 'buried under the snow.' Help me to both teach
and live the active presence and controlling power of the Holy
Spirit today. Amen."

Hi everyone.

Certainly glad to see the posting from Marilyn to learn that Cornelia is now off the respirator.  It sounds like she is getting the best of care.

We haven't had any snow here but just a light rain all night and throughout the day.  It is suppose to get down to 27 tonight.

Today is my great granddaughter's 2nd birthday.  I have only seen her once but was able to hold her in my arms when she was about 5 months old.  She won my heart instantly.

Tomorrow is Senior Sunday at church.  We will be occupying the choir loft and doing the anthem.  Following the church service we are treated to a lovely luncheon and program.  It is always a nice affair and we look forward to it.

Haven't done much today as am trying to recover from yesterday.  We did go to the library and stopped at the grocery store this morning.  I did watch the Olympic's opening ceremonies last evening and they were quite spectaular.  I have been watching some of the events today and will watch the figure skating tonight.

Marilyn

Here I was so worried that I was going to have to drop my health insurance and today  One of the Pastors from the McKinleyville Communtiy church called me. He and his wife need someone to do their laundry and ironing and take him shopping and run a few errands. Al you may know Pastor Leroy Caywood and Joanne. They have The Healing Stream Ministry on channel  10 at 4pm on Fridays and on 12 at 7:30 pm on Sundays. God is so good. He has brought me  a wonderful couple to work a few hours per week for. I can do the laundry and ironing here at home.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Cornelia's second heart attack, but then encouraged by the news that she is off the respirator.  I'm continuing in prayer for them, as I know all of us here are doing.

I had a very intense week but a productive one.  Tomorrow after church we are invited to Diane's for lunch, as Mark is home and they know we want to see him.  :)

I'm glad I decided to check in tonight before going to bed, so I can pray more specifically for dear Cornelia and Papa John.

Sue, I'm praying for you as well, as I know this is a sad day of remembrance for you.  (((hugs)))

Marilyn

Janet I am praying for you and Beth as well.

Sue such a sad day for you.

Pat I know your heart is broken too recalling all the tough times you went through with Jack.

I am in good spirits tonight. My mind is at ease and I know God is in control. god is so good all the time. I am so looking forward to tomorrow and church. I called my pastor today to ask if he would help me find someone to mow my lawn. I don't have much and Gilbert is no help at all, Sarah mowed theirs. Gilbert wanted me to wait until March, Is he kidding me, it is already  tall.  :idiot:

The grand kids were so thrilled with the opening ceremonies last night they were fascinated by the skaters with the flames coming off their backs and their helmets. We also watched Dancing with the Stars and they liked that too.
They were amazingly well behaved this time. They even told me how much they enjoyed their visit.

Good Night
