Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith?
Isaiah 10:15

The divine Husbandman knows pruning better than anyone else.

During such work, we may smart under the blows of the axe, yet how necessary they are. Such pruning is of twofold value, to prevent the spread of decay, and to promote the growth of fruit.

While enduring the axe in our own lives, we must be careful to not accuse our Lord of harshness. When we witness such purging in the life of another, we must be extra careful not to assume we know why.

The wisest of Gardeners is at work, His will, His motives, His methodology, and His timing are perfect.

Good morning. Pat thanks for the devotional this morning. You were up late as usual and I hope you are feeling better and that your pain is subsiding. Percocets are not good to be taking for an extended period of time. They are addicting.

I am going to have the smog testing done on the car this morning and then tomorrow the mechanic friend of mine will  be checking out that oil leak and checking it out in general. Since it is new to me I want everything to be right on it. The seller was supposed to dothe smog test but I think maybe they didn't know that. So I will be deducting that amount fromthe balance due.

Well See you all later.

Kristi is darling.  It makes my heart smile to see that loving grin on Travis.  No problem with bonding there, right?

JudyB ~ You got me....but only because I knew what was going to happen.  (that's my story and I am stickin' to it)

Suppose to get in the 40°'s today but it has quite a few degrees to go.  Ivalou and I may go shopping if she doesn't go to her DIL for lunch.  Haven't heard from her yet.

Well ... hope that FRIDAY finds everyone well.  We are doing well here in our household it's to be a busy busy busy weekend for sure ... I am dropping hints for my husband to take me out for dinner so we will see what happens. The kids are doing well ... my daughter has another full day of school once again and we woke up to clear weather so that was wonderful too.

So, I just wanted to stop in & tell the proud parents ... I am happy to hear that your NEW ONE has made there appearance & that all are well & happy & I also love the pictures too.  So, take good care of that new one & treasure all those special memories in your heart as the time will go by really fast too.

Better go ... have things to do before my DH gets home early so take care & I will do my best to be back this weekend sometime.

Hi all!!  Just popping in to say hi.  It still hurts to sit in certain chairs for too long, so I don't have long here. . .

I've also seen that Tyra means "assertive woman" hehehehe.  I may have my hands full.  Travis is very fond of her already.  The first night, we had just gotten to the mother/baby room, and bernard was going to take him get something to eat.  Travis looked at the nurse who was checking on Kristi and said, "Don't touch my baby."  Yea, maybe a little possessive too.

Have a great day.  I'll catch youns later!

Interesting devotional, Pat.  When does it stop?

Kristi is a cute name, Karmat.  Hope your days simply keep on being wonderful.  Also, that you can soon sit in comfort..... :)

We are having another cold morning.  I would normally not be on the computer, but had a wakeful night and not filled with zip this morning.  So came to the computer to read.  Read something that is sort of nice:

A Christian alternative

The differences between the generations don't need to lead to conflicts. Christians can offer alternative understandings of aging.

The Bible views the conflict between generations as abnormal. Yes, youth is a wonderful thing, but it is not the only thing. It is a blessing in many ways, but it can, on some occasions even be a curse. When Isaiah pronounced judgment on Jerusalem and Judah, he said, "I will make boys their officials; mere children will govern them" (Isaiah 3:4).

Young and old can come to mutual understanding and appreciation of each other. In the Kingdom of God, "Children's children are a crown of the aged, and parents are the pride of their children" (Proverbs 17:6). Old men dream dreams and young men see visions (see Joel 2:28; cf. Acts 2:17). And God promises that He will be with His people of every age bracket. "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He Who will sustain you" (Isaiah 46:4).

Sometimes think that churches have forgotten the above.  Generation gaps seem to be getting even wider in Christian circles.  At least in this part of the world.

Carpet bowling went well and I managed to stay out of trouble.  Some of the folks get a little confused, which in turn confuses those of us who are not confused.....with makes for an even more confusing time....Senior moments ;D

You got me also, Judy B.  (heh, heh)

Feel good, Beth.  Hope everyone has a pleasant day and God Bless.

Liz

Well, Ivalou called and said she was going to her daughter-in-laws for lunch.  Ivalou's great-granddaughter has been home from pre-school this week but has been feeling better today.  She is hoping she gets to see her great-grandson, born last November, too.  I got another call while I was talking to her and it was a great-nephew, Aaron.  Aaron will be 28 in August.  He was born with the cord wrapped around his head and lack of oxygen got to his brain.  It was told to his parents that he would never walk or talk or live past 4 years.  Well, Aaron graduated from high school, holds down a full time job as maintenance in an elementary school (been there 9 years), lives alone and buying his own home.  But he doesn't drive.  He had seizures and the doctor's said he shouldn't drive.  He hasn't had any seizures for years....as long as he takes his meds...but he has no interest in driving.  He has a moped that he takes to work and to see friends.  But he wanted to know if we could go out to eat somewhere....Subway.  Sure!

When he got in the car, he was upset.  Seems he washed his billfold in the washer with his pants.  Said that was stupid of him to do.  No, we all do things like that.  Don't put yourself down and think of it this way....you will check your pockets from now on and never do it again.  But he wanted to go to the ATM and make sure his card worked.  Sure didn't want to go somewhere and use it and it wouldn't be good.  That would be embarrassing.  It worked fine.  He calmed down and realized that washing his billfold was a good lesson for him.  Bless his heart.

The Holy Spirit: Buried Under the Snow

Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
--Matthew 13:58

How many blessed truths have gotten snowed under. People believe
them, but they are just not being taught, that is all. I think of
our experience this morning. Here was a man and his wife, a very
fine intelligent couple from another city. They named the church to
which they belonged, and I instantly said, "That is a fine church!"
"Oh, yes," they said, "but they don't teach what we came over here
for." They came over because they were ill and wanted to be
scripturally anointed for healing. So I got together two
missionaries, two preachers, and an elder, and we anointed them and
prayed for them. If you were to go to that church where they attend
and say to the preacher, "Do you believe that the Lord answers
prayer and heals the sick?" he would reply, "Sure, I do!" He
believes it, but he doesn't teach it, and what you don't believe
strongly enough to teach doesn't do you any good.

It is the same with the fullness of the Holy Ghost. Evangelical
Christianity believes it, but nobody experiences it. It lies under
the snow, forgotten. I am praying that God may be able to melt away
the ice from this blessed truth, and let it spring up again alive,
that the Church and the people who hear may get some good out of it
and not merely say "I believe" while it is buried under the snow of
inactivity and nonattention.  How to Be Filled With the Spirit,
18-19.

"Lord, don't let me be guilty of keeping the truth of the Holy
Spirit's ministry 'buried under the snow.' Help me to both teach
and live the active presence and controlling power of the Holy
Spirit today. Amen."

Things are not going well for me with this car. I went to my appointment this morning to get the smog test done and the engine light which is suppose to come on  when you turn onthe ignition without starting it would not come one and the mog test could not be done, it also has a slight miss and that would hinder the test. He told me that maybe thelight had burned out.

So I pray that tomorrow when I take it to the mechanic that all of it can and will be fixed all in one day except for the smog test which has to been done and certified. Especially the oil leak. If all this keeps up I will just tell them to take the car back and get the old one fixed.

Going to get my nails done this afternoon.

I don't think that it will be more than a light bulb gone Marilyn, or the car wouldn't start.
The ignition has to have a contact before the car starts.
Praise God again. :)

Hello Everyone...

I'm late getting here today but had a busy day so far.

Nice to see you all.

Have you all been to the "RED CHALLENGE"?  Enjoy!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have had another very busy day.  My new friend, Rod surprised me at the Senior Center this morning with cake that the men all shared.  That was very nice and like Tbear's cyber cake there was plenty for everyone who wanted a piece and I had a little to bring home.  Then Pat and I picked him up at his home and we went to the Country Senior Center as this was our Learning Center volunteer meeting day.  I gave a Powerpoint presentation for about 15 minutes on our activities involving our computer user group.  We had lunch provided after the meeting and then we had another planning meeting for our next term.  It was after 2 pm when we got home and I was beat so took a nap.  Now trying to catch up here on the computer as I watch the news.

Marilyn, sorry that your car didn't pass inspection.  Do hope the problems will be small.  I always shudder at the time of year when I have to get my older cars inspected.  Fortunately this year I had no problem.

Etta Sue, that is an interesting story regarding your great-nephew.  Just shows that we should never give up on a human being.  He is having a productive life and undoubtedly is an inspiration to those that know him.  Glad his ATM card wasn't ruined.

Karmat, I hope Travis will always feel that way about his little sister.  I think most bigger brothers are that way with sisters, although they will certainly have their moments.

Tbear, don't be too subtle with your hint for your husband to take you out to eat.

Someone sent my wife the following little story, which I wanted to share with you all today:

QuoteDancing With God
When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.  When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.  The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.  When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music.  One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.  The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.

When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i". "God, "u" and "i" dance."  God, you, and I dance.  As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life.  Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.  May you abide in God as God abides in you.  Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.  This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.

If God has done anything for you in your life, please share this message with someone else, for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.  There is no cost but a lot of rewards; so let's continue to pray for one another.

And I Hope You Dance

Janet

I can hardly believe it is almost 6 PM and we are still on page one!  Many of you must have had a busy day, as I did.

Marilyn, don't panic, many times cars have a $2.00 problem and are traded in and replaced with a $20,000 or $30,000 car.  Darrel always says about cars that do not get as good gas mileage as we want "You can buy an awful lot of gas for $30,000.  Even at nearly $2.00 per gallon.  I hope the mechanic gets the problems taken care of; as it sounds like your old car has "had it."

Etta Sue, your nephew sounds like a neat guy, and I'm sure he will check those pockets carefully from now on.  Who among us hasn't washed (and ruined) something left in a pocket?  I surely have!

Hello, Larry.  I see you are keeping busy as usual.

Hey, Pat!  Hope you're feeling better today.

New Mom Karma, bet you are reveling in those beautiful kids.  They are SO sweet.

I need to get off here, my back is complaining.  Too much sitting this week!

Good to see everyone's posts.  I'm concerned though Marilyn, concerned that you may be buying a vehicle that isn't "up to par".  I'd feel better if you got an independent mechanic to  check the car....not the present owner's mechanic.  Sometimes it better to put your money into your present car....a car that you know.

It was a busy day here for me as well.  Nothing very exciting.....just a challenge to keep caught up with the everyday chores.

Has anyone heard from Papa John?  Perhaps he is in transit, driving to Florida.

Glad to know Beth is feeling better!
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Marilyn

Judy it is an independant mechanic. It is my mechanic. I am positive that it would cost more to repair the old car. It needed shocks, struts, frontend work, brakes and tires. The shocks and brakes alone are almost $800 dollars.

I don't think this one is going to cost that much. at all. It could be something very small.

I am relaxing tonight, I just ate 2 pieces of toast with homemade Blueberry jam and a cup of hot chocolate. Already had a hot shower and washed my hair, gots my jammies on too.

Might as well say good night all.
