Morning Devotional...

Do you really treasure God's Word?

In Proverbs, Solomon says, "My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding; yes if you cry out for discernment and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasure; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God."

It's really easy to understand this proverb.  It just means that if you seek understanding of God's Word the same way you'd seek a store of burried treasure you knew about, why then you'll find that understanding.  The problem is never with a Bible that is hard to understand, but it's with laziness of heart and mind.

How much do you really want wisdom and the knowledge of God?

Oh, Wonderful Word!

"The Word of the Lord endureth forever." 1 Peter 1:25

Oh, wonderful, wonderful Word of the Lord!
True wisdom its pages unfold;
And though we may read them a thousand times o'er,
They never, no never, grow old!
Each line hath a treasure, each promise a pearl,
That all if they will may secure;
And we know that when time and the world pass away,
God's Word shall forever endure.

Oh, wonderful, wonderful Word of the Lord!
The lamp that our Father above
So kindly has lighted to teach us the way
That leads to the arms of His love!
Its warnings, its counsels, are faithful and just;
Its judgments are perfect and pure;
And we know that when time and the world pass away,
God's Word shall forever endure.

Oh, wonderful, wonderful Word of the Lord!
Our only salvation is there;
It carries conviction down deep in the heart,
And shows us ourselves as we are.
It tells of a Savior, and points to the cross,
Where pardon we now may secure;
For we know that when time and the world pass away,
God's Word shall forever endure.

Oh, wonderful, wonderful Word of the Lord!
The hope of our friends in the past;
Its truth, where so firmly they anchored their trust,
Through ages eternal shall last.
Oh, wonderful, wonderful Word of the Lord!
Unchanging, abiding and sure;
For we know that when time and the world pass away,
God's Word shall forever endure.

Iain

Clear and to the point as usual Al.

It's about a year ago now that I started to pray for one thing in particular every single day. I asked God for wisdom.

What has He shown me?

My ignorance of Himself, His Christ and His Word.

He feeds my hunger for wisdom through shining His light on my ignorance. I love the way He deals with me each day and I cannot but wonder at the patience He has with a sinner like me.

Christ is wisdom and that is why I ask for more of Him each day.

With love to you all.

Your brother in Christ

Iain

Our electric was off in the night for about 2 hours.  I don't know why.  I just heard my monitor squeek when the lights came back on.  Sounded like a smoke alarm with weak batteries.  I knew it wasn't that because the batteries were changed last week.  So now I am going to be busy re-setting clocks.

Ivalou called last evening and we have free tickets to go to a Broadway Musical tonight in downtown Indianapolis at the Murat Temple.  I don't think I have been in that building since Senior Prom back in '60!  But I know where it is and now to get the tickets from the people who are too sick to attend.  Also Ivalou and I are planning on going shopping today and eating out.  Busy day!

Good morning, friends,

It's good to hear from y'all today. Have fun, Etta Sue.

Have y'all seen the wonderful email that's going around that picks out the letters (in order) for the word "Valentine" from the verse John 3:16? If not, I posted it a week ago Sunday. It really impressed me.

Have a great day.  I'll be thinking through today of the love and adoration I feel for the One who loved me the most -- my Saviour and my God.

Good Morning to one an all. I have not completed my card for you yet. No time this past week.

Prayerfully this new week will be bringing things a bit back to normal for me. I do have to take the car for the smog test but this time It will be right here in Mckinleyville and not all the way to Eureka. Then I go to Eureka to get my liscense tags for this year.

Wm's  is starting today for the new year. We had put it off because one of the main people had Gastric bypass surgery last month. Some time this week I have to take Fay to the Podiatrist to have her toenails cut. I go for a massage tomorrow and  am praying that I will be able to get back to the gym a couple of days this week. I missed Tai Chi twice last week going to Eureka about the car.

This may sound like a lot to you but for me is is just a normal week of running here and there doing who knows what.

SDo  must get on with my day.

Greetings to everyone who enters today and Have a Blessed day.

Hi everyone and a special welcome to the several new members that I haven't greeted before.  I look forward to getting to know each of you in the days ahead.

Happy Valentine's Day.  I can't buy my wife flowers as the cat won't leave them along and she doesn't want chocolates so I am just giving her some extra kisses today.  She did give me a little heart shaped box of chocolates.

It is a rainy and rather drear day here but not cold.  I understand that tomorrow it is to get above 70, which will be nice.  I went to to coffee this morning but don't plan to get out the rest of the day other than to get the mail.  Pat has an appointment this afternoon to get a permanent.  We have decided to make the trip to Florida next week so she wants to get prepared.

Marilyn, I was delighted to read that the problems with you new car were not very expensive.  Do hope the sign in the vets office will pay off.  At least you will be addressing people who love animals.

Etta Sue, hope you and Ivalou have a great day and enjoy the Broadway Musical tonight.  You can't beat the free tickets since the fare for Broadway Musicals is always pretty high.

Tbear, your graphics today are very pretty.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you found the database problem and was able to fix it.  I am sure that helped you have a nice weekend.

Iain, nice to see you posting today.  Hope you are feeling better by now but know you don't complain.

Al, thanks for the devotional today.

Janet, sure nice to read that Beth was up to being out and that she had no adverse affects from her day on Saturday.

Guess I had better move on and get busy with some of my projects.  The hours seem to speed by and I don't seem to get much accomplished.

.

A quick good morning from my icy corner of the world.  I'm finishing my coffee, then will run out and put water on the car windows to thaw them before I take Kyle to school.

Ty and Rocko were tiptoeing around in the grass because it was frozen, and cold!  We didn't stay out long.

Marilyn, that's so neat that your friend told you about putting a flyer up at the vet's.  Find a home for your babies.....and mama gets to come too.  How cool is that? :)     I've only had Ty and Rocko for 5 months now and i can't imagine not having them with me.  They're family in every sense of the meaning.  They give more than I could ever give to them.

A nature sounds alarm clock!!  I'd like that.  But I don't know if it would wake me up.  I have a nature sounds cd to put me to sleep. :)  I usually don't use an alarm to wake anyway.

I'm so happy to read that Beth is feeling better.  God is so good.

Time to take the dogs out.  I'll check in later.  Nita

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Darrel and I went to the wellness center and worked out, then swam, so we are getting back on track.  I had missed all last week because of my painting class; I have learned about how much I can handle (finally!)

My sweetheart gave me a nice gift, and I will have him take a photo of me with it, then post it later.  I am taking Beth to the doctor to have her sutures removed this morning, so no time just now to do it.

We are having a beautiful day here in SW Kansas, and hope you are, where you live.  See you later!

Happy Valentine's Day!

To let you all know what the weather is like Wyoming.  Yesterday it got up to 50 something and today it is snowing pretty heavy.  We got at least 3 inches already.  Should make for some good winter shots though.

My studio stuff should get here in 4 days.  <soni gets all excited>

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Great devotion too.

Rushing in to say "Good Morning" while it's still morning.

We're simply covered in ice.  I looked out and my car is so thick with ice.  It's supposed to change to plain ordinary rain later though.

Thanks for all of your Valentine wishes (like your graphic, Etta Sue).

Iain, thanks for your added words this morning.  I'm always blessed by your posts.

Thanks Al Moak for the devotional.  I had thought that I was going to do one quickly this morning when I got up in the night when I couldn't sleep and saw that it wasn't opened.   ;D ;D

Hi to the rest of you...  So nice to see you here today.

I'll be back.  Have an avon order to pack rather quickly.

Hi everyone.  My older sister (who is also my neighbor) came and got Travis this morning and my mom is going to keep him this afternoon.  We had been together since I came home from the hospital last week, and he probably needs some "outside" attention.  At Kelly's (my sister), he's got two older cousins (almost 17 and 14) who are homeschooled, and whom he loves to play with.  Then, he will go to my brother's house with my mom where he gets to play with his two youngest cousins (Sawyer, 5 adn Brooks, 3).  I miss the little guy. :(

I'm feeling stronger and better each day.  There are times, I almost feel "normal" again.  Hahahaha.

Marilyn, I think that is an awesome idea about hte vet's office.  You could try the same kind of ad at a Pet Superstore (if you have one of those), or even use that "take" on advertising for a  place -- not just vets' offices.  Grocery stores, libraries, anywhere that has a public bulletin board.

Sorry I didn't mention everyone.  I'm still a day or so behind, but be patient with me.  I'm going to scoot and do a couple of small chores while the baby sleeps.

Happy Valentine's Day from a rainy Western NC!

The Holy Spirit: Confirming Signs

And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them
and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.
--Mark 16:20

Such words as these in the second chapter of Hebrews stand as a
rebuke to the unbelieving Christians of our day: "God also bearing
them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles,
and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will." A cold
Church is forced to "interpret" such language. She cannot enter into
it, so she explains it away. Not a little juggling is required, and
not a few statements for which there is not scriptural authority,
but anything will do to save face and justify our half-dead
condition. Such defensive exegesis is but a refuge for unbelieving
orthodoxy, a hiding place for a Church too weak to stand.

No one with a knowledge of the facts can deny the need for
supernatural aid in the work of world evangelization. We are so
hopelessly outclassed by the world's superior strength that for us
it means either God's help or sure defeat. The Christian who goes
out without faith in "wonders" will return without fruit. No one
dare be so rash as to seek to do impossible things unless he has
first been empowered by the God of the impossible. "The power of the
Lord was there" is our guarantee of victory.  Paths to Power, 12-13.

"May the power of the Lord be with me in my ministry today, so that
I might not be 'outclassed by the world's superior strength.' Amen."

Hello from Belarus again, finally, at last, etc...

We made it back safely, and all of our luggage made it as well, even though we thought for a while that it wouldn't.  When we arrived at the Nashville Airport to check in, we found out that our ticketed schedule was different than the schedule they had in the computer for us.  However, the lady at the counter started calling to get it straightened out.  She eventually had to read every single line, code, letter, number on the ticket to someone else on the phone who typed it into his system, reticketed us with our original schedule (so that we wouldn't have to spend the night in Warsaw), and we were on our way.  Good thing that we showed up 2 1/2 hours early, but even so, we only had 10 minutes to clear security and make it to the gate.  Got to Chicago, and our flight out of there was 2 hours late arriving, so it would be 2 hours late leaving.  This was a problem because we only had 1 hour and 40 minute layover in Warsaw to catch our flight to Minsk.  I just knew we would have to end up spending the night in Warsaw again.  However, when we arrived in Warsaw, they got us to the transfer desk, where our boarding passes were already printed out for us, and shuffled us quickly to the gate, where they had delayed everyone for 30 minutes because of us.

When we arrived in Minsk, all of our luggage was there, and we cleared customs in record time (not a usual thing here).  They didn't even look in our bags, and we had 6 of them, so that was a miracle as well.

Went to the Bible School to get our vehicle and the keys for it, and when I did, they asked me to preach on Sunday.  I posted some pics from it on the Photographs here section.

Talk more later, as I'm tired.

Blessings,
Mike

Hi Pat.  I make it a point to try and click on at least one Google ad each time I am here.  I know it helps, so want to make sure I try to do my part.

Mike, I'm happy to know that you made it home safe!

Ruth Ann Bice

Skief, I've been praying for y'all. Hope your wife made the trip okay and that she's doing well. Also, the rest of you, too.

It's so good to arrive home at a reasonable time.

Y'all have a wonderful evening.

Mike, it sounds like you had an exciting, at least anxious, trip back home.  Glad everything turned out well.

Sonja, hope you haven't gotten too much snow.  We are suppose to hit the 70s tomorrow.

Pat, hope the ice all melted off when it turned to rain.  Nita, hope it thawed out up your way as well.

Janet, glad you were able to get back to the fitness center.  I haven't been walking now for about 3 weeks as the last few times I tried to walk on the treadmill or do the mile walk I ended up not feeling very good at all.  I will see my cardiologist this Friday.  Sure he won't be happy that I am not walking but it was leaving me exhausted.

Pat, thanks for the reminder to click on the Google ads.  I usually try to click on at least 4 a day but know I have missed some days.  I will try to do better.

karmat, glad that you are feeling better.  It sounds like Travis will have had a busy day today.

Chris, thanks for the Tozar devotional thought for today.

It took a lot longer to get back here than I anticipated!  Beth and I went to see Mom, then to see Jeanie, then to Alejandro's (our favorite Mexican eating place) for lunch---then when I got home, Darrel wanted to go to Hugoton to test drive a car the dealer had called him about.  So we did that (nope, didn't buy it, don't need another car, anyway.)  Then--Diane was really busy with Valentines orders, so I made some deliveries for her, helped Abby deliver some Girl Scout cookies, visited with Mark, called some framing customers, went to the park with Abby so she could play--------And then we all went to Liberal to eat at the Taste of China for supper.

Karma, glad you're doing well, and bet Travis had a fun day.  I'm sure your relatives enjoyed his visit, too.

Larry, sorry the walking is leaving you so tired, and hope you will be feeling stronger soon.

Pat, I will try to do better about those Google ads, I always mean to click on some, and do sometimes, but not as often as I should.  Some of them are quite interesting.

Mike, good to know you are safely back in Belarus with your family.  Travel can be interesting, and sometimes frustrating!  Good to see you posting, I have missed you!  I saw your photos in the RED challenge, and will go look at the others.

Ruth Ann, good to see you home earlier!  Have a good rest tonight.  Love you!

It is bedtime again, and I still have the NEM to get ready for tomorrow, so best get to it!
