Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

Who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord?
1 Chronicles 29:5

In seeking volunteers to help build a temple for the Lord, King David first stressed how much he himself had already done.

"I have prepared with all my might for the house;"

"I have given...over and above all that I have prepared;"

"I have willingly offered all these things."

Surely these exemplary acts stirred his people into action. In like manner, the King of Kings would now say to His people, "I have willingly offered all," and then, "who among you is willing"?

Will you take up the challenge?
—W. P. W. McVey

I Gave My Life for Thee
(Click to hear music)

And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves,
but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
II Corinthians 5:15

Author:  Frances R. Havergal, 1836-1879
Musician:  Philip P. Bliss, 1838-1876

I gave My life for thee,
My precious blood I shed,
That thou might'st ransomed be,
And quickened from the dead;
I gave, I gave My life for thee,
What hast thou giv'n for Me?

My Father's house of light,
My glory-circled throne
I left for earthly night,
For wand'rings sad and lone;
I left, I left it all for thee,
Hast thou left aught for Me?

I suffered much for thee,
More than thy tongue can tell,
Of bitterest agony,
To rescue thee from hell;
I've borne, I've borne it all for thee,
What hast thou borne for Me?

And I have brought to thee,
Down from My home above,
Salvation full and free,
My pardon and My love;
I bring, I bring rich gifts to thee,
What hast thou brought to Me?

Ruthie ~ I am happy you have someone to share your life with. That is all anyone can hope for.
;)

Carol

Ruthie:       It is terrific to read your happy post about your Brian.

I watched  a bit of Billy Grahmn last night but not sure if it was a rerun or not.  His message is always so on the mark.  Get out and do the Lord's work.

Pat:  Thank you again for the daily devotion.
QuoteWho then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord?

Must get going here today.  Isn't it disgusting to hear the flashing news about M. Jackson having the flu?  Our news is really off the wall.  I don't care.

Carol ~ Hi, it is good to see you too! ;) 8)

Ruthie

Last night it snowed after the rain and now it looks like a winter wonderland.

Thank you Carol and Jerry for your comments.     I am truly blessed.   Brian lives a long way from where I live but we have the telephone.  This morning he called before going to work and prayed on the phone for me and asked for God's presence during my eye operation.  I am so happy that God has brought him into my life.   And now I am listening to a beautiful CD by Grace Baxter.  She sang at our Valentines Party.  Her songs are soothing and remind us of Christ's love for us.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.  God's blessings.

Love Ruthie
The Lord is my light and my salvation Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Ps. 27:1

Janet

Hello, Ruthie!  My, you have had a lot happening in your life lately.  I'm glad the physical problems will soon be cleared up, and congratulations on you and Brian finding each other.  As Jerry said, having someone to share your life with is such a great gift.  Be happy!

Judy, that was so sweet of your hubby to go get that sweater for you.  Guess we will both be keeping our sweeties, huh? :D

I have made a HUGE mistake, now I must try to correct it!  We booked a trip to Mexico and the Copper Canyon; and last night realized that if we go on the dates we reserved, we would miss Mark's graduation!  NO WAY can I do that---so it is to the phone I go to see if we can change dates without too great a penalty.

I spent the whole evening last evening working on Mark's scrapbook; want to have it ready for his graduation reception.  I did make good progress on it.

Pat, you needed the sleep!  And I pray you are feeling much better today.

I should go over and take a photo of Beth with her ROSES with my camera so I can post it.  I took one with hers yesterday.

Well, I must get on the phone and try to fix my problem.  TTYL.

Gosh, all kinds of news.  Troy swimming at State. Beth using her walker and even exercising.  Janet showing her Valentine's from her hubby.  Judy getting her surprise sweater.  TBear holding a surprise for us for TODAY.  Sarah's team being district champs.  Ruthie has a new sweetheart...Brian Christian.  Zachary liking school and getting his meds on timel.  Chandraya practicing for her dance program.  Lila Mae not like monsters. Chris posting his daily Tozer devotional.  Troy working laying tile and carpet...I could use him here.  Carol reading a friends Chicken Soup book.  Ruth Ann getting home early and walking the dogs.  Beth getting roses from John. Pat having company until 8 p.m.  Jerry coming out from lurking.  Al telling us about Hawaii.  Marilyn didn't have much to say about herself but being lovely about reply to other's posts.  Janet's big mistake in booking dates for Mexico. Soni getting her studio set up.   TBear welcoming her new niece into the world and sharing her with us.   Great reading!!

Well, Ivalou and I left about 2 hours before showtime last evening.  It wasn't dark when we got downtown but almost.  I followed my map but the interstate has changed since the map was done so I overshot my exit.  But I found the Murat Theater easily.  We had a free parking pass and since I have Jerry's handicap placard on my rearview mirror they told us to park in the handicap parking area.  We went inside.  Beautiful.  I know now that when I went down there to my Senior Prom back in 1960, we were in the lobby.  I remembered the big square pillars.  I remembered where the band was set up and where the tables were set up.  Really brought back memories.  We showed an usher our tickets and he told us what stairs to take but the doors wouldn't open until 7:30 p.m.  So we walked around.  And lo and behold, we saw a second cousin of ours and her daughter.  So we talked to them until time to go to our seats.  To think, they both live less than a mile from us and we see them in downtown Indy!!! (We saw them the last time we were at Beef 'n' Boards, too) We got to our seats....there really isn't a bad seat in the theater even though we were in the balcony. ($55 tickets...wonder what Orchestra seating was?)   We both could see the whole stage.  The acoustics was fabulous.  Then I remembered that maybe in the 4th or 5th grade, I was in that theater and attended the Murat Shrine Circus.  I remembered elephants being on that stage!!!!  Oh, well.  The musical play was fantastic.  I love to watch dancing and hear the singing.  'Thoroughly Modern Millie' was great.  Such talent.  We were back in the car by 10:45 p.m.  Got out of Indy with no problem at all.  But we were hungry so we stopped at Steak and Shake and had burgers and fries.  Home a little after midnight.

It had been raining while at the theater.  Rained when we were at Steak and Shake.  Pouring rain between my garage and the house.  Lots of wind.  At 1:13 a.m. I was awaken by what sounded like someone knocking on my window but it was thunder.  Then lightening.  More hard rain.  Later I woke and it was silent.  I got up to check if my basement had water in it...didn't.  I turned on the outside lights and everything was white.  The rain turned to snow.  Trash day today but it wasn't slick taking the trash...just wet snow.

That's what I did since posting yesterday.

a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m.

LOL Etta Sue.  I enjoyed your post!  Wish I couldn't have been there to watch all the danceing and singing with you.  Glad you had fun.

Janet

Wow, Etta Sue, what a lovely post!  You did good, girl!  And your day yesterday sounded more like mine or Marilyn's!  Glad you had such a nice time.  Thanks for responding to EVERYONE as you did.  I don't do as well, but I will keep trying.

God is so good to Janet!!  Praise His wonderful Name!  I called, and only had to be on hold for about 6 minutes or so, and was able to change the dates for our trip with no hassle whatsoever!!  And saved us $200, to boot!  Isn't God wonderful!  I had to shout and dance around the room after I hung up the phone.  :)

Carol, I surely agree about Michael Jackson---like, who cares if he has the flu?  Good grief, aren't there more important things to clog the airwaves with than that?  >:(

I also agree that the "wedding" of Prince Charles and his longtime mistress is not news to get excited about.  My opinion, of course.  Why do the news people think only bad news is worth reporting, anyway?  There are really a lot of GOOD things happening, but if you hear about them, you only hear it once, but the bad is repeated ad nauseum. :P

Okay, now I will go do something else!  I'm happy!! ;D

Wonderful news about you, Ruthie!  God is so gracious and merciful to give us not only what we need but far more!  Praise be to Him.  Got to go this morning to pay a bill for our new carpet and vinyl.  We've got new windows too.  Our mortage is bigger, but at least things are done.  We thank our Lord for it all.

Janet - so glad it all worked out so well on your travel - now you can relax and do what you need and want to do.

karmat

God is good.  I lvoe reading about what all He is doing in our lives.

Kristi is doing well, adn Travis is still a doting big brother.  Right now, she is asleep, and he is playing in the floor next to me.  We're doing okay, so far.  Today is my first day "flying solo."  Up until now, I've had someone with me helping me out, or someone taking Travis to help me out.  I think we are doing pretty good.

Janet, I assume your trip is a diving one?

go soni, go soni, go soni!!!

TBear -- beautiful baby.  There is a sign in one of the examining rooms of my OB/GYN that says something to the effect that "Newborn babies are God's way of showing us there is still hope for the world."

Etta, you crack me up!  Enjoy your snow and stuff.  We've just got rain here.  I love the Steak and Shake.  Unfortunately, the closest one to us is like 3 or 4 hours away. :(

I know I've missed someone, but let me say, if you posted, I read it and I'm glad you're here!!!

Hi Everyone...

What a pretty sight outside!  I just would love to get into the car and drive and get some photos.  But, my shoulder and arm are still too painful to do that but maybe the snow will be still here tomorrow.

Great to read all your posts.

Ruthie will be having her surgery in a couple of hours and will try to let me know later on how she's feeling.  She has several health problems right now so it will be good for her to get these all ironed out before the wedding bells (whenever they ring!).

I agree with your post, Janet about Prince Charles wedding news.  It's a crazy world!

I won't mention everyone here today but please know that I've read all of your posts.

Soni, it's great to see your news about your lighting and studio equipment.

Great stuff.

I will say though that I'd love you all to visit a new photo site.  It's a Photography Cafe type of site but you are to feel free to upload your photos to your own gallery.  Four of us run it and although it's not a Christian site, nudity is not allowed nor is any Adult Only content.  The upload sizes are larger than what we can offer here on Christian Photographers so it might be a nice place for you to share.  You will be able to link back and post your medium-sized photos here on CP.  Don't forget though that this is a photographers site and critiques will be given to your photos so it is best if your "snap shot" type by put here and your more scenic ones or abstract ones, etc. be put on there.

CLICK on GALLERY or FORUM and REGISTER  This will be a great place if you'd like more folks to see your photos on the internet.  It's great to have lots of places to share.

Janet

Soni, it's so exciting that you are getting your studio all equipped professionally!  Now you can REALLY go!  Congratulations!!  (((hugs)))

Karma, I'm sure you are enjoying your little ones.  Believe me, those years are so fleeting!  And the grandkids grow up even faster, if you can believe that!

Pat, please don't overdo it.  Maybe someone will take some photos of your snow and share them with us, but you stay in and take care of yourself, okay?

Karma, no, the upcoming trip (will be in June now instead of May) is another one with Grand Circle, and I doubt we will even see the ocean.  But I hope we get to go diving before too long, I am missing the underwater world.

Al, great that you are getting your little place all fixed up.  It sure makes life more pleasant when we have nice surroundings, I think.  I guess some people enjoy living in chaos, but I don't understand how!  And no, I am not saying you EVER lived that way, I'm just rattling on here.  Bet your Marbeth is a wonderful housekeeper!  Blessings to you both.

I registered, Pat. :)

So I see, Soni!   Great to see you there and hopefully we'll see lots of your wonderful photos--portraits and scenes.  (I can think of two I'd love to see on there that I bought!)  LOL

No, Janet, I won't overdo it.  Promise.

Karma, great to have you.  She's one week old now and we've not seen many photos!  ;o)

Well, I nearly went to Kansas!  But I'm not.  My son-in-law is leaving Thursday night at midnight for Mexico to build a house with some others from his church in a week and he offered me a drive to visit Janet but plans have changed.

We'll try that out at another time though for sure if Phil does this again and he thinks he will.

I registered, Pat.  Just need to be approved.
A watched clock never boils.

Nita

I registered too, Pat.  I'm not sure how often I'll get there, but I'm hoping to begin getting out with my camera more.

Lots of good news to read in the last two days.  BETH, I'm so happy for you.  It's such a blessing to see how you're improving and read the joy in your posts.

We are having beautiful weather here on the Oregon coast.  There's so much I want to begin doing in my yard....weeding, etc.....but I'm not to do anything for another two weeks.  I hope I have the same energy when I can finally get the doc's release.  And my lawn needs mowing, and bushes cut back.  All the spring stuff.

Ty and Rocko get their last puppy shot tomorrow and can then go to the groomer.  Their first hair cut!!  I'll post a picture of my babies after they come back home.

Pat, I had satallite tv for awhile.  I got in on a really good deal, so took it.  It lasted a year and then prices were going up, so had to cancel and sell the dish.  We got back on cable yesterday, but I could never afford it.  My daughter (her son lives with me) is paying for it.  She came and visited and Kyle told her we only got 4 channels....haha...it was pretty boring tv for a teenager.  I was just fine with it, but I have to admit, I do enjoy the Hallmark channel and Animal Planet.  I still have my small tv that picks up the Seventh Day Adventist channel (3ABN) through the air, and I watch that a lot.  I'm not vegetarian  now, but love their health shows too.

Well, this sunshine is just tooooo tempting.  I have to go out even if it's just to cut some branches at eye level. :)

The Holy Spirit: The Daunting Task

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of
God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and
also for the Greek.
--Romans 1:16

The greatest event in history was the coming of Jesus Christ into the
world to live and to die for mankind. The next greatest event was the
going forth of the Church to embody the life of Christ and to spread
the knowledge of His salvation throughout the earth.

It was not an easy task which the Church faced when she came down
from that upper room.... Left to herself the Church must have
perished as a thousand abortive sects had done before her, and have
left nothing for a future generation to remember.

That the Church did not so perish was due entirely to the miraculous
element within her. That element was supplied by the Holy Spirit who
came at Pentecost to empower her for her task. For the Church was
not an organization merely, not a movement, but a walking
incarnation of spiritual energy. And she accomplished within a few
brief years such prodigies of moral conquest as to leave us wholly
without an explanation--apart from God.  Paths to Power, 7-8.

"We continue to need that power, Lord, or we still are hopelessly
incapable of the task You've left us. Empower us for our work, Holy
Spirit, even as You empowered the early church. Amen."
