Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

"Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee."
(Proverbs 4:5-6)

Recently, God has been raising up ever-growing numbers of people who are hungry. Hungry to know their Lord in a deeper way. Hungry to serve Him--in pulpits, on mission fields, in homes, in office buildings, and anywhere else He might choose to send them.

They are people who simply aren't content to find the path of least resistance and coast their way into heaven. No, they're determined to run the race...to run, as the apostle Paul said, to obtain the prize. Spiritually speaking, they are on the road to excellence.

Are you among them?

If so, I want to share four simple words that, I believe, will enable you to run the race like a winner:

Put the Word first.

Whether your goal is to be an excellent evangelist or a first-rate engineer in the service of the Lord, it is the wisdom that comes from the Word of God that will get you there.

Jesus said it this way: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33).

So commit yourself right now to do whatever it takes to totally saturate yourself with the Word of God. Use every available moment to read, study, listen to, and meditate on it.

I know it won't be easy, but if you've made a definite decision to amount to something in the ministry of Jesus Christ and you are determined to take the Great Commission seriously, then be diligent. Put the Word first and there will surely be glorious victories ahead.

Great devotional Janet.  Looks like I'm first today.  Got to take the kids bowling this morning, they are on the homeschool league.

Enjoyed all the poems and games from yesterday.

Bless all who come this way today!

Choose you this day who you will serve; As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

AAADD
(Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder)

This is how Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder manifests itself :

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide my car needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mailbox earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

I see that the Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered.

I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed

the bills aren't paid

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

the flowers don't have enough water

there is still only one check in my check book

I can't find the remote

I can't find my glasses

I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.

Do me a favor, will you?  Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember to whom it has been sent.
Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!

Good day. I am glad to say its a bright cool but sunny day here today. NBut it looks like it will be short lived because snow is in the forcast for tomorrow.
I am of to take in as much of this day as I can.
Tonight I look forward to my bible study .
This was a wonderful devotional today-so much to glean from it.
Whether your goal is to be an excellent evangelist or a first-rate engineer in the service of the Lord, it is the wisdom that comes from the Word of God that will get you there.
I need to hold this thought-
God's blessings to all-have a great day!

Marilyn - I meant to answer your post, but, on my way, I spotted my email folder, so I went to that first . . .

Etta Sue

Good morning!  The Euchere Club was a success.  They played cards, ate and visited.  And I think they all had a good time with old friends and making new friends.  The last two ladies left at 6:10 p.m. and I left at 6:30 p.m. for Small Groups!  So I had a few cleaning up items to do when I got home last night.  Anyone for leftover snacks, come on over!!

Kitty is coming this afternoon to see my spiffy-ed up house.  She is bringing Photo Shop Elements for me to install on my pc.  I am going to take a photography class and the guild uses Photo Shop.  I feel like a traitor since I have PSP!

Then this evening is Beef and Boards and the dinner theater.  'Phantom' is the play tonight...not 'Phantom of the Opera', tho.

Then it is relax, relax, relax for the rest of the week.

Marilyn ~ Thank you so much for your church website.  I just didn't have time...slow dial-up system...to click the other day.  Let whoever in charge of the website know it is a very nice, presented website.  Good job!

Janet ~ Do you really wonder why you are tired?  Really?  Beth really needs a roommate or go somewhere where she can be assisted 24/7.  Does she realize how you would feel if she were 'down' for hours because she couldn't contact you or Darrel?

Papa John ~ You know I am still praying for you and Cornelia.  God's will is always right.  And I know you will accept God's will.  Cornelia is in a win-win situation.  No matter what happens......she will be healed!

Good Morning  :coffee: Thanks Janet for the Devotional today. It is very good.

Thank you Etta Sue for the How Dogs were Created email. I love it and have saved it in my text files.

Today I am going to Jan's, Fay still doesn't want to get her hand in water even with a glove on, she is afraid infection will set in if it gets to warm in the hot water. So I also have to go to her house this afternoon sometime to wash all her dishes that have been left since I was there yesterday.

Tonight is the annual Business meeting at church. Oh yeah, I told my pastor about all the misspellings on the website.
Tim Wade the Associate Pastor has gone back home to his family so he isn't at our church anymore so that will have to be changed also. But I think it was my Pastor who did the misspellings. Tim was working on it before he left. Maybe I can get the Pastor to let me  help him with the site.

Time for me to get going.

Thanks for the Devotional:

Many little jobs to get done and not enough time.  I have company coming for dinner, and wouldn't ya know the toilet has gone on the frits so Mel is out at present getting a new rubber stopper for the tank, the day I would think is not too far off when we will have to consider replacement with a whole new toilet. My plants need to be watered, I have to place an order from Sears catalog, I just about forgot I have a repair job to do on my recliner ( the seam is pulling apart thankfully it is fabric)

Poor me now has to leave for work.  Will see ya all tomorrow.

Hi everyone.  Just a quick message today as we are getting ready to leave for our trip to Florida early in the morning.  I am taking my laptop but don't know how much opportunity I will have to get online.

I had an interesting day as folks from the SeniorNet Computer Learning Center in Aiken, South Carolina and one representative from another local Computer Learning Center met with 5 of our volunteers/officers to share with them how we do business.  We met for about 2 hours and enjoyed a nice quick lunch together with some subs that we could eat while we talked.

Janet, thanks for the fine devotional.  I hope Beth has had a better today today and not fallen anymore.

Etta Sue, you are having a very busy week.  Glad you had such a good time yesterday.

VERSE:
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill,
Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt
not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly
comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is
the fulfilling of the law.
    -- Romans 13:9-10

THOUGHT:
Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to have laws to keep
people in line! That's the point behind Paul's message here. Treat
our neighbors like we would like to be treated. Love them as we
like to be loved. If we do that, then we're not going to do
anything that would hurt them, much less violate a command of law!
PRAYER:
God who gave Moses the Law on tablets of stone, please write
your character and will on my heart that I might be a living stone,
testifying to your righteousness and grace. Help me to think more
carefully about how my neighbors feel before I act or react to them
-- not just today, but every day! In the name of your Son, Jesus I
pray. Amen.

THANK GOD FOR THE LITTLE THINGS

Thank you, God, for little things
That often come our way.
The things we take for granted
But don't mention when we pray.
The unexpected courtesy,
The thoughtful, kindly deed.
A hand reached out to help us
In the time of sudden need.
Oh make us more aware, dear God.
Of daily little graces
That come to us with "sweet surprise"
From never-dreamed-of places.

I am really surprised to see we are still on page one for today.  Lots of our folk must be having a busy day.

I got quite a few things done this morning, didn't go exercise in order to have more time.  I addressed all the family reunion newsletters that go by snail mail, researched a couple things on the computer, then I went to Beth's and took out her trash, put a chicken in her crockpot to cook, did several other things fpr her, and then hurried to Hugoton for my chiropractic appointment at 11.

Then it was to the Christian school to return the Christmas costumes my church borrowed; and while there I had the most delightful time of visiting and prayer with their new director.  That lady was certainly sent to that school by God.  She has a long history of Chidren's ministry, along with her husband, and such a heart for kids.  We found we have several mutual friends, and it was just a lovely visit.  We prayed together for my church, her school, our friends who are sick, and for Beth.   I went away from there refreshed in my spirit.  That was surely a divine appointment!

Next I went to visit Jeff's (my son in law's) grandmother, who is 100 years old.  She was so happy to see me, and we had a nice little chat.  Then I went to McDonald's for a salad, then to school to spend the last half-hour with Abby and bring her home.  So here we are, and will be until her parents get home this evening, maybe around 6 or 6:30.  (And isn't this all just FASCINATING??)

I am hoping for more hopeful news from Papa John today.

Larry, have a lovely time in Florida!  We are going to Horn Creek, Colorado this week for Family Camp---just for three days, with our church family.  It's a really neat place, not too far from Pueblo.

I'd better shut this down before it becomes a novel!  :-[

Just as I was posting this, Diane walked in the door!  So now I can go home!  :)

I am sitting here yawning just reading of your day Janet.

Just as I was finishing up at Jan's my cell phone rang and it was Pastor Leroy asking me to stop and the store and bring them a few things. Today is one of my day's off from them. I did that and went on to Fay's she had done her dishes. Praise the Lord. Then I  came on home and ironed 2 shirts and a Pr. of pants for the Pastor and 3 of my  blouses. I still have to go to the Church Business meeting tonight. But I will be home in time to watch the Women's Ice Skating.

Tomorrow I am taking Fay grocery shopping.

I got home to be greeted with the news that my dear mother in law, 94 years old, is in the hospital in Amarillo.  So I need to call and find out what's going on with her; Darrel didn't get it all straight.  We need to know before we go to Horn Creek.

Aslo, Beth says she has a Dr's appointment on Thursday.  That will have to be changed, as we won't be here that day to take her.

I want to watch the ice skating tonight, too....if I can keep my eyes open. :sleepy:

See you tomorrow!

Well it has been a long time.  A new computer and a new internet server.  Hopefully my problems are over.  Pat I will phone you with the new address.

Marilyn it seems you had a day like I do.  The only problem is if I turned my water on and let it run I would run the well dry!  I had to laugh at your story.

Janet your devotional is good.  You know that the Lord knocks on the doors of his servants to refine them.  In other words it never rains but it pours.  I am sorry about your mom-in-law.  I will continue to pray.

This has been a rough day.  I am tired, and about ready for bed.  Like Janet I want to watch the ladies skate.

I must go now
God Bless

Nita

Just checking in.  I was wondering if there was word from Papa John.

Pat

Well, last Thursday evening, I showed my friends slides of "Digital Africa" to the Guelph Hiking Trail Club and I took my friend.  In the night after the slides, we both got ill.  She now has strep throat!

I just hope that I can shake this soon.

Thanks for your notes letting me know that you're praying for me.  My bed is so comfortable the last several days.

Now, I'm locking the door and we'll all chat tomorrow.
