Is there anything too small or too large for God?

The Mundane Things

Matthew 6:11, 12.
  "Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."

God really is lord of all events in this world.  So often, consciously or not, we think of Him as being lord of just the great events, the headline events, the earthquakes, great storms, etc.  Of course He is lord of those things.  But we need to remember that every great event is just the result of an infinite number of smaller ones.

So we really have to conclude that our God also cares about the "small" events - and, ultimately, all events.  Because He is infinite, He is lord of ALL events in space and time.  In fact, time is just the relative succession of all events from the beginning to the end, and our God is the Author and Regulator of it all.

We need to draw an important and practical conslusion: God is concerned for our daily and hourly sustenance and activities.  For that reason, Jesus taught us in this model prayer to ask for our daily bread and to seek His forgiveness for our daily failings.  And while we're at it we need to realize that other's failings, since they impact us, need our forgiveness just as we need God's forgiveness.

After all, it's His kingdom in which we live, His power alone by which we live, and all the credit (glory) is His as well.  So let's begin each day by acknowledging these things to our Father-God in heaven.

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and spring-time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Thanks, AL ... I love this hymn and it has become almost my theme song... My Father is so faithful to keep His promises and to watch over my everyday stuff....  I love Him so!

I have had an awesome weekend.  A beautiful wedding on Saturday of a couple of my neighbors and friends from church.  (She's 76 and he's 81) then Sunday singing at the nursing home. One of our faithful women has passed into eternity and her memorial service is Monday (today). Another woman asked for a special number the next time we sing there ... she says no one knows this song and she wants it sung at her funeral  "When They Ring Those Golden Bells"  Well, we know it and will most certainly sing it next time we are at this particular nursing home.

Then tonight (Sunday) I went to the meeting at the tent (where the wedding took place on Saturday  and it was an awesome service.  God is sooooo GOOD -- All the time!!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi everyone.  Another quick check-in from Florida.  We have decided to stay in St. Pete for another day and on Tuesday will go visit our friends north of here and then will return home on Wednesday.

I am continuing to give computer lessons here and that is the reason for us to stay another day.  I am also trying to get the software updated and everything checked.

Once again I haven't read the past messages so won't make individual comments.

We are having beautiful weather here yesterday and again today.  Think it will get into the 70s today.

Ritz

 :coffee: Good morning all! Yes, Al, you couldn't have said it any better! I am reminded time and time again how awesome our God is when I hear songs like "How great thou art" and "Our God is an awesome God!" But he's also the God of everything else, Like when he spoke in a gentle whisper to Elijah at the cave on Horeb. (I Kings 19:11-12) I thank God for his day-to-day faithfulness, and I thank you Al, for reminding me. Peace Brother, Ritz.

Marilyn

Good Morning; My power was out for a couple of hours yesterday and when I came back on there was no internet connection. I went on to prayer meeting at 5 pm then to the evening service where the Evangelist spoke again. We had an awesome service.

I got a call when I got home that Pastor Leroy's wife, the one I work for, was at the hospital, she had fallen and cut her head. I will be calling him this morning to see how she is doing and if she is back home again.

I also got a call yesterday afternoon from some one from the church down south about the Pastor there. He is having some  health issues with Congestive Heart failure and is thinking of stepping down from the pulpit. The call was for prayer there too., This is Pastor Oliver, Victor's father, if you remember Victor Oliver.

Thank you Al for the devotional today and it is good to see all those who have already been here. It is raining here today and  the rain is expected to stay for awhile. We are on flood watch again, or so it said on the national news a little while ago.

My heart is saddened by all who are losing their loved ones.  My prayers continue for those left behind.

I had to have my tire aired up again yesterday.  This morning I am to have...hope they don't leave me hanging...the washer repairman come at 11 a.m.  Then between 12 and 2 the plumber is to be here to give me an estimate and a time to re-do the plumbing and possibly a submerged sump pump.  Then if I have time, I want to go get two new tires.  Or at least tomorrow if not today for the tires.  They say problems come in three's.  I am done now.   :cool:

Aaron, my great-nephew came last evening and visited for a few hours.  He is a delight....even if he is a relative!!   <3

SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE

Thanks, Ritz, for the reminder about Elijah at the cave - that's an excellent reminder of how God is also the God of the small, seemingly insignificant things.  Our lives should be dedicated to Him whether we're speaking with kings or whether we're washing the dishes.  It's all His - the dishes, the kings, and everything in between.

Janet

While reading Al's good devotional and the comments on it, I am reminded of how we can be a blessing to our families and others, just by the ordinary, every day things we do.  While at Beth's this morning, I prayed for God's blessing on her as I prepared a crockpot of stew, washed her clothes, folded and put away clothes, took out trash.........all of those things bless her life, even if not noticed until they are NOT done.  When I wash and fold Darrel's clothes, I pray silently for God to bless him......and so it continues.  I hope someone somewhere is praying for me, too.  And since "what goes around, comes around," I'm sure they are!  :)

It is supposed to get into the 70s today, the 80s tomorrow, and the 60s for the rest of the week here!  Hard to believe, after having all our water pipes frozen just a week ago.  That's Kansas!

Larry, I'm so glad you are enjoying great weather while in Florida.  I'm sure you are a blessing there, just as you are here with us.  God bless you, dear brother.

Marilyn, it sounds as if all (most) of the pastors you know are facing attacks from the enemy just now.  So they must be doing something right.

Both the Home Health nurse and the lady who has been helping Beth told us today tht this is their last week.  The agency has been having problems, and we are wondering if it will be shut down completely.  If so, we will request help from the one at Garden City or the one in Liberal.  I just cannot handle ALL of her care.

Since the weather is so nice today, I think Darrel and I will attempt the job of constructing rails on the ramp her built for Beth.  He is trying to figure out the best way to go about doing it.  And I know he will get it figured out.

My body fat content was down another percentage point this morning!  Yippee!!  ;D

I'd better get with the program here; I don't know who else would run the vacuum, etc  :P

YOUR RIGHT TO BE WRONG

A humorous story has it that a newly appointed young clergy
person was contacted by a local funeral director to hold a
graveside service at a small country cemetery in Iowa. There was
to be no funeral, just the committal, because the deceased had no
family or friends left in the state.

The young pastor started early to cemetery, but soon became lost.
After making several wrong turns, he finally arrived a half-hour
late. The hearse was nowhere in sight and cemetery workers were
relaxing under a near-by tree, eating their lunch.

The pastor went to the open grave and found that the vault lid
was already in place. He took out his book and read the service.
As he returned to his car, he overheard one of the workers say,
"Maybe we'd better tell him it's a septic tank."

Why is it we make our biggest mistakes in public? And some people
can't avoid it...former hockey goalie Jacques Plante wonders,
"How would you like a job where, if you made a mistake, a big,
red light goes on and 18,000 people boo?"

But we should never give up our right to be wrong. Good judgment
comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment. It
is your right to be wrong. "No (one) ever became great or good
except through many and great mistakes," said William E.
Gladstone. Great mistakes are opportunities for great learning.
And great learning makes for great living.

You have a right to be wrong. And if you are to build a great
life, you have a duty to make great mistakes. If possible, laugh
at them. Always learn from them. And try to make sure your next
mistake is one you haven't made before!

Good day from across the miles.
I enjoyed the devotional today Al.
There is so much to gleam from God's word.
I am excited by what God is doing in our midst.
A day to be involved and excited about reaching out to those who do not know the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Its a nice day here today and I believe we will get another snow storm before the week is out.
May God bless each one  today. :thumbsup:

It's so nice to read everyone's posts in here.

Thanks Al for the wonderful devotion today.  It touched my heart.

I hope everyone has their pin on our map.  If anyone has trouble, please PM me and maybe I can help.

Whew, I'm tired!  I went over to Beth's this morning and did stuff for her, and then later Darrel and I went over and worked the rest of the day on the rails for her ramp.  We are both worn out, and not finished yet, but tomorrow is to be another warm day, so maybe we can finish it then.

Looks like a really slow day here on CP.

I am home from work I did not have to work for the Pastor today but I went over and had him sign my time sheet then  did the dishes made the bed and took out the garbage, sat and visited for awhile then came on home, I made Cole slaw and ate a quesadilla, I have a few of my sweaters is the dryer. I have been putting off washing them long enough.

Tomorrow Fay gets the stitches out of her finger, I finally asked her today why she had her fingers over the edge of the table while I was moving it she said she wanted to feel if I had cleaned out the edges. She has been blaming me for her finger getting cut  so I told her  she should not have had her fingers in there in the first place.   :cool:

Slow here today.

Janet good to see you are taking it easy. :lol: and not overworking yourself just like  I me.  :lol:

Aren't the words of this hymn just so wonderful?

.

Jesus Wondrous Saviour!
(Click to hear music)

Jesus, wondrous Savior! Christ, of kings the King!
Angels fall before Thee, prostrate worshipping;
Fairest they confess Thee in the Heav'n above.
We would sing Thee fairest here in hymns of love.

Fairer far than sunlight unto eyes that wait
Amid fear and darkness, 'til the morning break;
Fairer than the day-dawn, hills and dales among,
When its tide of glory wakes the tide of song.

Sweeter far than music quivering from keys
That unbind all feeling with strange harmonies.
Thou art more and dearer than all minstrelsy;
Only in Thy presence can joy's fullness be.

All earth's flowing pleasures were a wintry sea,
Heav'n itself without Thee dark as night would be.
Lamb of God! Thy glory is the light above.
Lamb of God! Thy glory is the life of love.

Life is death if severed from Thy throbbing heart.
Death with life abundant at Thy touch would start.
Worlds and men and angels all consist in Thee:
Yet Thou camest to us in humility.

Jesus! All perfections rise and end in Thee;
Brightness of God's glory Thou, eternally,
Favored beyond measure they Thy face who see;
May we gracious Savior, share this ecstasy.

Hi Janet, I just read an email about the Pastor who was at the gravesite preaching to the septic tank and here the same story is on CP.   It is funny.

It is snowing big flakes off and on here in Canada.   God bless

Thanks for the devotional.
Yes it has been snowing here as well.  I am hoping it does not snow tomorrow morning at least,  as that is the day a few of us stop at the restaurant for breakfast.

My hubby has had photo's in a box many arrived after his mom passed away, so this past few days I have been putting them in an album and rest which are papers cert. etc. I have put in sleeves, all I have to do now is buy a binder to put them in. Going down memory lane has been wonderful.

I will check to see how I put my pin in the right spot.

Time to move on

As far as the Pin on the Map is concerned, just remember this...

To put the pin on, you go into your profile.  But to view any of the pins that are on there now, you don't go into your profile, you just click on the button above that says "Member Map" and everyone who has their pin on the map are named at the bottom of the map.

If you want to see (for instance) where Melody lives in the world, just click on her name and then use the zoom feature while her profile is on the map and it will zoom right into Newfoundland, Canada.
