Mourning Turned Into Dancing

Psalm 30:11
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing.

If you've never read The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, it might be difficult to understand how God could turn mourning into dancing.  For hiding many Jewish people in their home during World War II, Corrie and her family were imprisoned in a Nazi death camp.  Corrie alone survived that ordeal and went on to travel the world, sharing one message: Jesus can turn loss into glory.

Years ago I was drawn to watch Corrie ten Boom one day on television.  She spoke about a meeting, long after the war, with the S.S. soldier who had stood guard in the showers at her concentration camp.  When I heard her speak about extending her hand in a gesture of forgiveness,  her words pierced through my soul like a dagger.  How could she offer the hand of friendship to him?  Lacking her own strength, Corrie prayed to God for Him to give His forgiveness to this man.  And when Corrie's hand touched the former soldier's, she likened it to love's lightening going through her arm, to the man, and then back again.

At the time, there were many people whom I felt incapable of pardoning.  God's name topped the list.

Corrie's words lingered in my mind and heart, making me miserable.  But I finally surrendered my life to Christ.  And God's power of forgiveness has turned my own mourning into dancing.

Prayer~
Lord, Your "merry saint," Corrie, knew joy was a condition of a heart filled with forgiveness.  Help me see this too!

A friend of mine sent this to me by email this morning.  I thought I would share it with you.

Faith is risking what is for what is yet to be.
It is taking small steps knowing they lead to bigger ones.

Faith is holding on when you want to let go.
It is letting go when you want to hold on.

Faith is saying yes when everything else says no.
It is believing all things are possible in the midst of impossibilities.

Faith is looking beyond what is and trusting for what will be.
It is the presence of light in darkness.

The presence of God in all things.

Good morning, EVERYONE!

Sorry I have been very busy with life with my children.  Chandraya has a dance competition this weekend and Troy has a swim meet here in town this weekend.  I am trying to juggle all this when the times clash.  Not sure how I am going to manage tomorrow.

Etta Sue, I am still here. Thanks for noticing.  ((hug))

I may be in Monday if not sooner.

Love
Soni

Well, my bug seems to be losing its power over me, so since the weather is going to be gorgeous (predicted for the 60s), I'll probably dressand try to go out for a little while.

Soni, thanks for those definitions of faith.

Here's one that really touched me in the last sermon I heard before my husband died during that week:

Faith is when you step out on nothing
and

God holds you up.

Sonja ~ I thank you for the devotional. I still don't have anything to say, but you were missed by all. 8) :o

Etta Sue

Pat ~ I don't see where it says 'Local' for Google.  Are you talking about when you are on CP?  At the top of the pages?

Ruth Ann ~ I like that definition of Faith.  He can hold us up when we are rock bottom.

Carol ~ I am sure you will like the PSP lessons or you won't.  Don't get discouraged...I was ready to scream until it finally clicked in.  I love making animations....can't wait to show all of you my Valentine.....gotta wait...gotta wait...gotta wait.

Sonja ~ So glad you noticed that I noticed!  tee hee!  I would love to see Chandraya at her dance competition.  Does Lila Mae show signs of wanting to dance?  Just be happy that Troy will be competing in town and not across the state.  How is Zachary doing in school?  When I think of Mike I think of him in his brown UPS shorts.  Too cold for that now, right?  And I just love your profile photo!

Karma ~ Get plenty of bed rest for the big day/night!  We are anxiously awaiting our new little baby.

Have I ever told all of you how I love living next door to Ivalou, my sister?  Last night I came on here to search for the name of the hospital that Ivalou's granddaughter was in giving birth to Ivalou's great-grandson.  I found I could 'see' the babies.  So I found Augustus Byron Greene, the Vth!!!!  I printed it out.  I called Ivalou and told her I was coming over...at 10 p.m.!!!!  She was really surprised that I had a picture of her new great-grandson!  He was born in Ohio so we might not see Gus until Easter!!!

I missed Stray Cat this morning.   :(

Just checking in for a minute, before I go back to bed.  grrrr.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, I've been up and at the moving and sorting today and packing Avon and now I'm here to share a cup of coffee with you all.

Thanks so much, Soni, for today's timely devotional.  I appreciate you so much.  I pray every day especially for all of the moderators on CP and you are one of them so daily I talk to our Heavenly Father about you and your dear family.  I love your kids!  I have last year's Christmas card here in front of me so that helps me remember as well.

Ohh, what good "Faith" reminders too!

Etta Sue, try typing in Google.ca (ca for Canada).  Maybe it's just the Canadian Google that has that Local.  I was so surprised and there's a little "New" icon beside it.  No, it's not on the Google ads on these pages but going right to Google on another web browser as if you're going to search for something.

Carol, where are you taking your PSP lessons?  Do you have a URL?  Make sure you share your finished products with all of us.  We have that section just for that!  I love seeing what others do.

Ruth Ann, glad you're feeling a bit better and that your weather is nice enough to get out and enjoy.  I'm going to the basement!

Worth repeating...

Faith is when you step out on nothing
and
God holds you up.

Jerry, you sweetheart!  Keep on being "gabby" please?  I love that car and that's when I see it...when you have nothing to say!  LOL

I'm printing this out, Soni...

Now, I'm back down to the dungeon...

Talk to you next coffee break!

While in Europe in 1987, we visited "The Hiding Place" in Haarlem, The Netherlands.  You can visit the website www.corrietenboom.com for a real look at "The Hiding Place" as well as the shop.

A neat story about how we found the place..............I knew from Corrie's book that it was in Haarlem.  We got to the town and asked, but nobody knew of the Ten Boom Clock Shop.  We talked to a storekeeper who spoke English but he didn't knew of it.  We moved down the street and finally found someone who knew the words "Ten Boom" but with her not speaking English, we could not undertand how to follow her directions.  The storekeeper had been watching us, saw what was gong on and came down the street and intepretated for us.  God sure helped us then.

We got to the shop, then being turned into museum.  It was not open to the public yet.  However the lady let us in and gave us a very personal tour of the shop, the living quarters and "The Hiding Place."  What a thrill for us to see such a place of honor.  We have some pictures taken inside the home....Now just where are they?  Hmmmm

Later in Germany we saw the concentration camp at Dauchau.  What a sharp contrast....one place..saving lives, the other...taking lives.  We will never forget either one.

HAPPINESS
To be happy with a man, you must understand him a lot and love him a little.
To be happy with a woman, you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.

Reminds me of the guy that found a bottle on the beach in California.  He opened the bottle and out comes a genie...granting him one wish.  The guys thinks a little and says, "You know I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I'm afraid of airplanes and I get terrible sea sickness on a boat....so build me a bridge to Hawaii."

The genie gets a flushed look on his face and is visibly flustered as he says,"Do you realize what it would take to build a bridge all the way to Hawaii?  The environmental impact issues I would have to deal with? The reststops, restaurants, motels and gas stations that would have to be built?"

Then he says, "Isn't there something else I can do for you?"

The finder thinks a little, hems and haws and finally thinks of something, "Well, you know, I've always wanted to understand women?"

The genie says, "You want that a two lane or four lane?"

Saturday February 5th ... It's just another foggy day here in Ohio Land !!  Well, not much is new but I must tell all of you be sure to check your smoke detors ( sorry about the spelling ) at least once a month. I found out todaythat with this new house our's that we have throughout the house really do work.  I say that because they all went off at the same time this morning. WHY ... NO FIRE for us ... it's just that we had a friend come over to cut out some cement in the basement which had caused a lot of smoke to happen which caused the alarms to go off and they did work !!  The entire basement was filled with smoke as was the upstairs so we had to open windows to clear the air ...

Other then that we are all well.  School this week will NOT have to be made up later in the year ( Larry ) because our school is so far ahead of schdule we can get caught up in ~~ 1 wk time so it is nice to be able 2 get out of school the end of May & enjoy summer vacation while everyone else is still catching up. Hm ... what else ?  Etta I really enjoyed your e mail that you posted I'm going to share with all of my friends too that is just to cute !!

So, better go & get some more clothes washed up so that this family has something to wear for the next week.  Take care & I will return again when I can !!

The Holy Spirit: Preachers Without Power

Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a
good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having
strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, desiring to be teachers of
the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which
they affirm.
--1 Timothy 1:5-7

Another thing that greatly hinders God's people is a hardness of
heart caused by hearing men without the Spirit constantly preaching
about the Spirit. There is no doctrine so chilling as the doctrine
of the Spirit when held in cold passivity and personal unbelief. The
hearers will turn away in dull apathy from an exhortation to be
filled with the Spirit unless the Spirit Himself is giving the
exhortation through the speaker. It is possible to learn this truth
and preach it faithfully, and still be totally devoid of power. The
hearers sense the lack and go away with numbed hearts. Theirs is not
opposition to the truth, but an unconscious reaction from unreality.
Yet scarcely one of the hearers can tell another what the trouble
is; it is as if they had been hearing an echo and not the voice, or
seeing a reflection and not the light itself.  Paths to Power, 55.

"Lord, that's a challenging thought. I'm sure that I have many times
preached and taught in my own strength, without the filling and the
power of the Holy Spirit. Deliver me from that error, Lord, that no
one's heart may be hardened through my failure. Amen."

Soni, great devotional this morning.  I have several of Corrie Ten Boom's books, and love them.  Also, I can't remember if I told you or not, but I LOVE that photo of you!  Hugs to you and yours today.

Eddie, how neat that you actually got to see The Hiding Place.  Such love the Ten Booms demonstrated to their Jewish neighbors, even giving their very lives to save them.  Man's inhumanity to man is so awful, but folks like the Ten Booms restore my faith in humanity.

I went over and washed Beth's hair this morning.  Her head is still hurting really bad.  Also, I posted a prayer request for John's mother.

We are moving furniture around today; also have had two families come to look at our house we have for sale (not the one we live in now.)  We are thinking of the future, trying to make plans, downsize, etc. to make things easier on the kids if we should die before Jesus comes to take us in the Rapture!  ;D  Losing a family member suddenly causes you to ponder these things............ :'(

Hi, Ruth Ann--so glad you are feeling some better today.  Enjoy your getting out.

Pat, if you will come over and help me rearrange, I will come over and help you with your switching around!  ;)  Sure wish we lived closer!

I need to go vacuum some more and move some more furniture.  I caught my toe on a garden hose this morning, didn't fall but jerked my back, now my lower back is hurting.  :(

Hi, Etta Sue.  I just cannot sit here long enough to do PSP, but I really am glad Pat taught me how to compress photos with it so I can post them.  Someday maybe I will be able to learn more about all the wonderful things that program will do.  It is amazing.

Hey, Gabby Jerry!  Good to see you saying nothing in here! ;)  Happy cat-sitting! ;D

Wow!  It is raining here!  And I was really surprised when I opened the door and it rained in my face--really unexpected.

Sweetheart grandson Mark just left to go home.  He was here all day helping move heavy stuff, then working on Beth's computer, and showing Darrel about how to sell things on ebay.  God really blessed us with wonderful grandkids.  (Just like YOURS, I'm sure!)  ;) ;D

Darrel got a new big screen TV, and the remote doesn't work.  I have a small TV in the bedroom, same brand---guess whose remote got snitched?? >:(   ;D We will have to contact RCA and see about getting another one, I guess.  It is really disappointing when you get something like that, and then it doesn't work.

WELCOME, JORDAN!!

Hey, Soni---I'll bet your camera went along on that drive with you, huh?  And did Troy win his swim meet?  How did Chandraya do in her dance thing?  Hello to Zack and Lila Mae, also to Mike.

Ruth Ann, glad you had a peaceful day.  One day soon I hope to have a calm and peaceful day.  It's usually peaceful around here, but lately it has been anything but calm!

I'm going to shower and go to bed early.  I'm worn to a frazzle tonight.

Nice devotional.  Interesting posts and guess we all love and admire CorrieT.  I remember when the movie came out and a gal I worked with went with her husband.  She was angry that it turned out to be a Christian Movie and they left after a few minutes!!  Made certain that I heard all about it.....!

I enjoyed your jokes Etta Sue and Fast Eddie.  Will try them on others, too good to let pass.  I also especially enjoyed the 'Faith' post by Sonja and will attempt to do it in Calligraphy.  Would make a nice little wall hanging.

Someone sent me this site about the Birth of a Hummingbird.  It is so interesting, will try and put it here...if it doesn't work will someone help out??

THE BIRTH OF A HUMMINGBIRD

This is truly amazing. Be sure to click on NEXT PAGE at the
bottom of each page; there are 5 pages in all. A lady found a
hummingbird nest and got pictures all the way from the egg to
leaving the nest. Took 24 days from birth to flight. Because
you'll probably never in your lifetime see this again, enjoy; and
please share.

http://community-2.webtv.net/hotmail.com/verle33/HummingBirdNest/

Find this amazing as they are so hard to photograph.

I have been busy cooking meals as Wendy is ill at the moment.  So have not had time to spend on the computer.  Did post some pictures and you can see how Spring has started to arrive on the island.  Understand the plum trees are in bloom in Victoria...will have to go and see real soon.

Have a pleasant evening and God Bless.

I'm just popping in for a minute or maybe two...well, maybe three! :D.  Like Jerry - I haven't a lot to say!
Ruth Ann: So nice to see that you had a lovely day.  I'm glad you are feeling better.  Now - what about Pam...how is she?

Etta Sue:  I cracked up reading those jokes...esp the last one about poking fingers at the elderly aunt. I'm still laughing!

Janet: You DO have wonderful grandsons....I wish we had family closer than a 4 mile drive.

Our eldest granddaughter, leaves for France on Tuesday, as an exchange student.  She is only 16....and will be gone for 3 months!!  Please pray for her.  Her name is Kelsea.  I feel very "uneasy" about this.  Sixteen is very young to be doing this.  One good thing, though...the girl from France spent her 3 month exchange here last summer, so we did a chance to meet her.  She is from a good family.  Not a Christian family, though, I know that for sure!

Oh dear...wonder what's happened to "Stray Cat"!...any sightings, Etta Sue?

Marilyn:  I'll go over to Prayer and Praise and see what you have said about Gloria.

BTW, Marilyn - I can read your new name at the end of your posts - seems much clearer...to my eyes anyway!

T-Bear: We always change out smoke alarms when the time changes....its a good rule to follow...for us, anyway.

Janet, I'm sure my grandkids will be awesome, but as for right now, they have a bit of growing up to do!! :-)

Have a good evening.  I was supposed to be in the bed all day today, but I talked nards into going on a "date" (Japanese steakhouse and Wal-Mart), and now I'm thinking maybe I shoulda stayed in bed.  It literally wiped me out.  Guess I'll be resting the next couple of days.
