JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Your Final Authority

"I am the Lord, I change not."
(Malachi 3:6)

The world's order of things is unsure and indefinite. Desperate words of uncertainty are crying out daily from radio, television, and newspapers. Everything around us seems to be in turmoil.

But, praise God, if you're a believer you have something you can depend on: the unchanging Word of God!

God has no double standard. He doesn't say one thing today and something else tomorrow. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

If you will make the Word the final authority in your life, it will give you stability when everything else around you gives way. If you'll let what God says settle the issues of life, you'll be confident when others are confused, peaceful when others are under pressure. You'll be overcoming when others are being overcome!

What does it mean to make God's Word the final authority? It means believing what He says instead of believing what people say. It means believing what He says instead of what Satan says. It means believing what He says instead of what the circumstances say.

Determine in your heart to do that today. Make up your mind to live by faith, not by sight. Fearlessly commit yourself to the authority of God's Word and there won't be anything in this unstable world that can steal your security from you.

Janet thank you for that reminder.  I tell the girls that the yardstick they should use is God's Word, and to let that be the guide in their lives.  Jesus the same Yesterday Today and Forever. AMEN

Janet  have a good rest tonight.  You need it to keep your "temple" working properly.

Thank you for the anniversary wishes.  This is the first year in many that John has been away the weekend before our day.   At least he is not struggling with snow, and that is a good thing.

Janet and Papa John, I am continuing in prayer for you and your loved ones.  You can count on that.

Sue Flylady is a good place to start in getting organized.  I use her method too.  The sweet thing is Kass and Elby have taken to heart the night routine.  Their clothes are laid out and school supplies are ready for the next day.  Now if I could get that.......

Pat I love the pictures you have from the various albums that are at the top of the page.  They are beautiful.  I don't always comment, but do so enjoy them.

Well I am off to bed   Good night everyone.

Ruthie

Hi Everyone:

I have a new job with Evangelism Explosion Canada.    Praise God

Way to go Ruthie!

Thanks for a nice devotional, Janet.  I love the Psalms.

"The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the defense of my life, whom shall I dread?"
       Psalm 27: 1

Comforting words in a time of need....

We had a day of sunshine today! ;D ;D ;D

Terrible storm on Sat. and power went out for quite some time.  Lots of trees fell  in the area.  We were lucky tho' and all is okay.  The trees are not deeply rooted and constant rain causes them to topple over in high winds.  I must go out and take some photo's....also of the terrible mess created by the construction going on.

Amanda is getting her Wisdom teeth removed on  Wed. and Wendy is having her MRI on Friday.  Busy week.  I went to Victoria today as have been delaying until the rain stopped.  Was wonderful to get out and about!  Tomorrow must spend the entire day ironing a huge basket of clothes for everyone.....I would much rather sit and paint my watercolors.

Happy Birthday, Marilyn.  Happy Anniversary Judy & John.

Anyone feel like a little smile:

Church Service

After church one Sunday morning, a mother commented, "The choir was awful this morning."

The father commented, "The sermon was too long."

Their 7-year-old daughter added, "You've got to admit it was a pretty good show for a dollar."

                                    :) :) ;)

I will continue to pray for Cornelia, Papa John, Beth and a few others....
Will also try to get to the Photo section and view and comment.  So many things take up my time right now.  Not enough hours to cover all the bases! ( I do read all the posts and care about everyone.)

Pleasant day/evening and God Bless.

Liz

My post went into cyber space so I will try again.

I am up as I am unable to sleep so I am having some warm milk and waiting for the dogs to come back into the house.

I received some very hurtful news yesterday that realy almost ruined my day. If you will recall I mentioned  a little while back that my oldest grandson was getting married in March. He is getting married on March 11th and his grandma has not been invited to the wedding, in fact there are other members of our family who will not be going but for different reasons.

It seems the brides family has invited so many guests that there are m,ore peeople than they are paying for so some of our family was sacrificed. Of all the unmitigated gall of her family, you would think that the grooms grandmother was more important that some of the bride's  friends.

I din't say anything to Gilbert about it as I din't want to hear him berate the rest of the family. He would have told me "What did you expect from them mom, they haven't invited us to anything in years".and I would havew felt worse than I already did.

Maybe God has a reason for me not to go and is protecting me from more hurt.

Any way I am going to call Happy back in and try to get some sleep.

Marilyn,

What a difficult situation.  I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel.  It seems like one of those times when wisdom like this is appropriate.

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Praying.

Thank you Kevin, I am praying about this. I do not understand why  or what is going on, but God is in control. Perhaps he is protecting me from some dangerous situation if I were to travel, perhaps some accident on the way there, whether in a car or an airplane. Maybe a hurtful situation in the family, I don't know only God knows.

Good day to alll.

I have enjoyed the devotional today.  But, praise God, if you're a believer you have something you can depend on: the unchanging Word of God!

Praying for your situation Marylin. The Lord knows your hearts desire here.

Congraulations Ruthie on your new Job. As I am  from Canada I was wondering what  Evangalism explosion Canada Is?
I am certainly enjoying all the pictures.

Prayers are for Papa John, Cornelia, Beth, Janet and Darrell.  May God bless you all abundantly.

Not much happening today.  Nice and sunny here but cold as it is to be all week.  Heard on the radio that we have 42 more days of winter!  That many?   :idiot:  The older I get, the less I like winter!

Tomorrow I am to take the elderly couple to Bloomington again for his Speech Therapy.  At least, I will be away from these four walls!

Sorry I missed your birthday, Marilyn.....HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!

Sorry I missed your anniversary, John and Judy....HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY!!

Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here."  Revelation 11:12

Without considering these words in their prophetic connection, let us
regard them as the invitation of our great Forerunner to His
sanctified people. In due time there shall be heard "a loud
voice from heaven" to every believer, saying, "Come up
here." This should be to the saints the subject of joyful
anticipation. Instead of dreading the time when we will leave this
world to go to the Father, we should be longing for the hour of our
emancipation.

It is a quiet day.  The temp is -6*C.

Just checking the messages.  I am continuing in prayer for all the needs mentioned.

Pat How are you today?

Be back later.

Marilyn~Take heart and don't let things like this get you down.  I was not invited to my grandsons' or granddaughter's weddings either. I was only at my daughters' weddings when they had a "regular" wedding (one daughter's first wedding was in Reno and the other's second marriage took place in the County jail    ??? )  I am not included in much that goes on with the grandkids ... haven't even been sent photos for years, except for the cd David made for me when I was in Sacramento in December.  God knows our hearts but He also knows theirs.  He will give comfort and, one day, we will have all the answers -- if it even matters by then.  ::) Let Jesus heal those wounds you and Gilbert feel ... I've heard "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with."  Makes sense to me.  Life is short.  Loss and heartache seem to fill too much of it.  I know.   I'll be praying that you find that place of perfet peace -- in His Arms of Love.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This has been a very busy day.  After coffee this morning I had some errands to run including getting the tags for my daughter's car and going to the grocery store.  Then Pat and I went to the senior's monthly luncheon and had a very nice time with friends from church.  On the way home we stopped and purchased a new washing machine as ours died this morning.  We got a new Maytag washer and it will be delivered on Thursday.  The old one was a Maytag and it lasted for 25 years.  I came home and took a nap and Pat has been napping since I got up.  Glad I can stay home this evening.  We had a really beautiful sunny day today but the wind was brisk and cold.

Marilyn, sorry that you have been hurt relating to the wedding of your grandchild.  Sometimes our family situations are such a mess.  I have come to think that almost every family has some very difficult elements and situations.

Janet, glad your painting is going so well.  Hope you were able to rest better last night and will do so again tonight.  Thanks for the devotional.

Chris, that was indeed the piece we sang Sunday.  I looked to see if there was a link to a preview of the song but didn't see one.  We don't sing pieces like this too often.  I had never seen the term "white gospel" before but it definitely was in the gospel music category.  I really liked it and enjoyed singing it.  The congregation seemed to appreciate it as when we finished there was spontaneous applause.  Generally this is frowned upon in our church as we sign to glorify God and not ourselves so I hope this was just the evidence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.

Gord, afraid I can't package and send you the warmth.  :)

Sue, I don't think I have ever had rice with chili but know that would be good.  Do you put the chili on the rice?

Jane, glad to hear you will be getting a tax refund.  I am still waiting for some final documents before I can prepare our returns.  I do plan to file electronically again this year.  I did so last year and it was great.  The refund was electronically deposited in less than 10 days.

Liz, glad you were able to get out and the weather has improved where you are.

Ruthie, congratulations on your new job.  It sounds like it will be something you will really enjoy.

Marilyn

Thank you Jane for those words of comfort and wisdom. You always have just the right words from the Holy Spirit for me. I appreciate you so much.

I have been out using the weed eater in the front yard until my battery ran out of juice. It is warm enough that I have on a tank top. I have been wearing my new red hat today. I sent some of you photos of Gilbert and I and I had on my new Red Hat. I also posted 5 photos of my outing yesterday in my gallery this morning, I will post more tomorrow. I thing there are going to be about 50 eventually, between the ones I took and the ones Gilbert took last night.

Hi Melody...

Evangelism Explosion was started by Dr. Kennedy in Florida many years ago.  He is the pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church.

I'll see if I can find a link.

EDIT:  Here's a link to what it is:  http://www.freegift77.com/evangeli.htm

Victory in Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Eugene. M. Bartlett

I heard an old, old story, How a Saviour came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins And won the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing pow'r revealing,
How He made the lame to walk again And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried "Dear Jesus, Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't To me the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory,
And I heard about the streets of gold Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing, And the old, redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there The song of victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

Hello all!  All I can say about grandchildren pushing grandparents out of their life is that they are missing one of the truest blessings God can give.  Both of my grandfathers died before I was born.  One grandmother died when I was 12, but the other lived until I was almost 30.  She was one of the dearest people in my life and I cannot wait to see her in heaven someday.  It's been almost 7 years since she died, and I still miss her.

Also, my kids are crazy about their gps.  My mind just spins to know that they (yours) deliberately keep you out of their lives.  But, as a word of encouragement.  I truly believe that a grandparent's prayer is one of the most effectual that can be.  My great-grandmother died in August before I was born in October.  Some of her last words were, "Edith [my mom], I could go on if I knew all the young'uns (the great grandkids) were going to be okay."  Her daughter's (my dear grandmother) last words were when the chaplain came to visit and said, "Mrs. Valentine, would you like to have prayer?" and she said yes and began praying (he meant for himself to pray :) ).  She named every child and grandchild by name.  It was her last coherent thing she said.

My point?  Almost all of my cousins have, by some means, come to know Christ as their Savior.  Your prayers ARE heard.

Papa John

Sorry I haven't been in today. We have been busy around here. I believe Cornelia had her best day yet and we are somewhat encouraged.

We had a visit from the nurse who will come three times this week and three times next week. Her vital signs were good.

I think I am going to bed early again. Rachel is coming again tonight to help Martha.

I hope you are all doing well.

Marilyn, I'm sorry about your situation.

Papa John

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Janet

Karma, I agree whole-heartedly about the power of grandparents' prayers!  And I think that one of the purest loves on this old earth is the love of a grandparent for his/her grandchildren.

Marilyn, I'm so sorry about the situation.  I have one grandson who has told me he wants nothing to do with me, EVER.  (Because I cannot approve of his lifestyle.)  My reply was that I will never stop praying for him.  And I won't.  So keep your chin up, your trust in God, and one day we will understand.  I know it hurts, and hurts badly, but we can only go on, and keep on praying.

My friend Carol Ann gave me a shoulder/back/arm/hand massage yesterday in class while the instructor was doing a demonstration, and it helped my arm and shoulder pain tremendously!  Thank God for friends!  :)

Thanks, Larry.....the painting is going very well!  I had two commissions to do, and have both almost completed.  Then I want to do one I am going to call "Cast the First Stone" of Jesus and the woman taken in adultery.  I just feel the annointing to do that.  (Prayers encouraged and appreciated!  :) )

Beth continues to do well.  But oh, my, how awful her feet look!  One is completely black now!  :P  She said they told her that was good, but boy, it doesn't look good.  Her doctor said he may release her on Friday, but I hope they keep her a few days longer.  We don't have things ready yet for her to come home.  We might have to enlist some help to get ready.

Congratulations on the new job, Ruthie!  I know you have worked with them as a volunteer, so that's something you are already familiar with, huh?

Thanks for the prayers, Etta Sue.  We all appreciate that so much.

JudyB, we are still dry as popcorn here, but they are predicting colder, much colder weather this weekend.   :-\  Thanks for your prayers as well.  You who continue to pray are true friends indeed.  Love you!

I need to finish some laundry and try to get to bed a little earlier tonight.  See you tomorrow.

Hi, Papa John, we were posting together.  I'm glad Cornelia continues to improve.  God bless you all as you walk through this tough time together.  We love you.

Ruth Ann Bice

This is Ruth Ann after an extremely busy and fruitful day. The doctor complimented me on my cholesterol readings, blood pressure, and pulse readings, and on holding the weight loss. He suggested waiting a couple of weeks and then trying for additional weight loss, but cautioned that he didn't want me to be quite as "near anorexic" (those are his words) than I was the last period of weight loss. So, it will be slower but I look forward to seeing less of me in the near future!

Then, when I get to meet y'all, there will be "less of me to love."  ;)

I'm thankful to hear of progress from several of you, and share your thanksgiving over answers to prayer.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
