Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Morning Devotional...

UNBROKEN FELLOWSHIP

J. Wilbur Chapman once came to F.B. Meyer with the question, "What is the matter with me?  So many times I seem half empty, and so many times utterly powerless.  What is the matter?"

He put his hand on Chapman's shoulder and answered,  "Have you ever tried to breathe out three times without breathing in once?"

Thinking it might be some new breathing exercise, Chapman answered, "I do not think I have."  "Well," said Meyer, "try it."  So he breathed out once, and then he had to breathe in again.

Don't you know," said Dr. Meyer, "that you must always breathe in before you can breathe out, and that your breathing out is in proportion to your breathing in."

We must fill the reservoir by prayer and a meditative study of the Word of God before we can draw out for service.[/b]

When You Pray
(Click for music)

At the close of the day, when you kneel to pray
Will you remember me?
I need help every day, this is why I pray
Will you remember me?

Chorus:
When you pray, will you pray for me
For I need His love and His care
When you pray, will you pray for me
Will you whisper my name in your prayer

At the close of the day, when I kneel to pray
I will remember you
You need help every day, this is why I pray
And I will remember you

When I pray, I will pray for you
For you need His love and His care
When I pray, I will pray for you
I will whisper your name in my prayer

Janet, how true, how true.
We must replenish our spiritual stores in order to be able to give when others need it. This site is a source of replenishment for me.

Marilyn, I'm thankful you have a new car.

Y'all take care.

...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

Hi, Ruth Ann!  Yes, it is true, and I am "learning to lean" more all the time.  I find that alone time in the car is a great place to pray and cry out to the Lord.  Since you drive to and from work every day, I'm sure you use that time in that way, too.  (((hugs)))

I'm off to painting class again, hope to not be so tired this evening, as I did sleep last night.  I wish you all a great and God-filled day, and will check in as soon as I get home to see if the new Shuford family member has arrived safely!

Thank you Janet for the devotional this morning, I know I do not come here and make comments often, but I read this page every day.Today is a nice sunny day but a cold wind, and has you look around you can see that the birds, flowers, and  trees are all coming to life.

Spring is a nice time of the year, and it seems to make people come alive, start to communicate with one another after the dull and dark days, an evenings during the winter time.

Don't you know," said Dr. Meyer, "that you must always breathe in before you can breathe out, and that your breathing out is in proportion to your breathing in."

It has been said that people but especially men, understand/grasp things better if they are explained using word pictures.  Janet your post used a word picture that really illustrates the point.  I'm sure most of us tried to breathe that way, if only in our head.

Thank you for this mornings devotion.

Thanks for that, Janet.  If there was ever one who needed it, it is me.  When I go into the pulpit, I will be empty unless recently filled!  And I'll be doing that this Sunday, so FILL me, Father, by Your Word & Spirit.  Amen.

Sue

Just stopping in to catch up, and see if there were any news on our "newest family member".

I must go, I have much to get accomplished today.  On a good note, I received a phone call this morning which tells me that my Job Search is working!  :)

Have a great day everyone!

Marilyn

God Morning, Thanks al for the devotional, somethign we all need to hear.

"We must fill the reservoir by prayer and a meditative study of the Word of God before we can draw out for service"

Not much time to stop and write a long post or even a short one. Time for me to go to work so I will get back to you all later.

Hi also to Ed and Al...  Great to see your thoughts on today's devotional as well.

Yes, Janet, as most have said, this devotional today was just so meaningful--especially to me. " Lord teach us to pray!"

Marilyn, we'll look forward to seeing you when you return from work.

Now, I must run and start my errands for today.  Hopefully we'll have many messages to read later on.

The Holy Spirit: He Can Be Grieved

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for
the day of redemption.
--Ephesians 4:30

Because He is loving and kind and friendly, the Holy Spirit may be
grieved.... He can be grieved because He is loving, and there must be
love present before there can be grief.

Suppose you had a 17-year-old son who began to go bad. He rejected
your counsel and wanted to take things into his own hands. Suppose
that he joined up with a young stranger from another part of the
city and they got into trouble.

You were called down to the police station. Your boy--and another
boy who you had never seen--sat there in handcuffs.

You know how you would feel about it. You would be sorry for the
other boy--but you don't love him because you don't know him. With
your own son, your grief would penetrate to your heart like a sword.
Only love can grieve. If those two boys were sent off to prison, you
might pity the boy you didn't know, but you would grieve over the
boy you knew and loved. A mother can grieve because she loves. If
you don't love, you can't grieve.  The Counselor, 51-52.

"Lord, I think I take Your love for granted and consequently forget
how grieved You are when I sin. Overwhelm me today with Your love, so
that I might be more careful to not grieve You. Amen."

I received this from our cousin in Garden Grove CA  Thought you would all relate to it.  It is rather long but well worth the time.

Crabby Old Woman

What do you see, nurses?
What do you see?
What are you thinking
When you're looking at me?
A crabby old woman,
Not very wise,
Uncertain of habit,
With faraway eyes?
Who dribbles her food
And makes no reply
When you say in a loud voice,
"I do wish you'd try!"
Who seems not to notice
The things that you do,
And forever is losing
A stocking or shoe?
Who, resisting or not,
Lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding,
The long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking?
Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse,
You're not looking at me.
I'll tell you who I am
As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding,
As I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of ten
With a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters,
Who love one another.
A young girl of sixteen
With wings on her feet
Dreaming that soon now
A lover she'll meet.
A bride soon at twenty,
My heart gives a leap,
Remembering the vows
That I promised to keep
At twenty-five now,
I have young of my own,
Who need me to guide
And a secure happy home.
A woman of thirty,
My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other
With ties that should last.
At forty, my young sons
Have grown and are gone,
But my man's beside me
To see I don't mourn.
At fifty once more,
Babies play round my knee,
Again we know children,
My loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me,
My husband is dead,
I look at the future,
I shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing
Young of their own,
And I think of the years
And the love that I've known.
I'm now an old woman
And nature is cruel;
'Tis jest to make old age
Look like a fool.

The body, it crumbles,
Grace and vigor depart,
There is now a stone
Where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass
A young girl still dwells,
And now and again,
My battered heart swells.
I remember the joys,
I remember the pain,
And I'm loving and living
Life over again.
I think of the years
All too few, gone too fast,
And accept the stark fact
That nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people,
Open and see,
Not a crabby old woman;
Look closer . . . see ME!!

Did ya miss me?  Hunh?  I tried to get online this morning and couldn't.  I tried to call CoreComm to see what was wrong but couldn't.  As soon as I pressed the last button, I was told that the lines were all filled and to try again later.  I tried to call Jerry and got the same message.  I DID call Ivalou but then that is only 70 steps away.  I didn't turn on the TV at noon for the news.  Ivalou was gone but when she came home, she said a lady she had lunch with said her phone wasn't right either.  Ivalou tried to call a 1-800 number and got the 'lines filled' message too.  So she used her cell phone...it is out of Indy and got through.  But I came in here around 4:30 p.m. and got online.

Now MSN IM isn't working.... :-\

WHERE THE BABY?  I just knew I would read about a new baby!!!!!!

Marilyn, glad you got a different car.  They can be frustrating, for sure but glad you found a working one.

I can't think of much more to say other than last night did start out being foggy....like TBear said but when I took Jerry home from Small Groups, it had cleared up here.  But TBear lives near a river so it gets foggier there.  It has been gloomy all day....a great day for a nap!!!  But I didn't take a nap!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

Tbear, what a delightful surprise.  I wanted to get my spoon and have some of that and how did you know I love ice cream.  I appreciate your thoughtfulness.  If possible I want to go see the movie Phantom of the Opera sometime this weekend as I love the music and I understand it is a good movie if you like music, which I do.  Other than that I don't know of any plans.  This will be #64 for me.  Don't know where the time has gone.

Beth, what a pleasant posting and was so happy to read that you were not experiencing that headache today.  Hopefully that is past now and you will be feeling much better.  You certainly have made a good recovery.  You certainly have one very special mother.

Marilyn, glad you were able to get the car and resolve the other money matter.

Etta Sue, glad to see you back online.  It is very frustrating when those things we are used to don't work.  We become very dependent on them but I guess it helps to keep us humble when they don't work for awhile.

Janet, thanks for the devotional today.  Hope your painting class is going well and that you aren't too exhausted to enjoy it.

Good to see all of the postings.

Janet

Hello again!  We had an ice storm this morning, everything was coated in very slick ice!  I walked ever so carefully from my car to the building where we are having class, praying with each step "Lord, please don't let me fall."  And He didn't let me fall, praise His Name!  :)

I am working on a large Christian/Patriotic painting, and am excited about it.  It is coming together nicely.

Beth, I'm so happy to see you posting and delighted you didn't have a headache today!!  God is so good!  Prayers continue for John's mother.

Baby Shuford, what's taking you so long?  :-\  I surely hope all is well with them.

Marilyn, you sure got that car in a hurry!  God is taking good care of you!

Hi, Larry--you and I were posting at the same time.  I am also 64, but a few months ahead of you.  Your special treat from TBear did look yummy---are you sharing? ;)

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments on today's devotional.  I appreciate them.

This lady does not let any grass grow under her feet when there is a need. Good thing I had some $$$$$$ in the bank.  I can't seem to get the hood latch to work, I have a call in to the people I boutght it from to ask how they managed to get the hood open to replace the battery. I want to get the oil changed since the car sat since last April. It also has an oil leak I want to get checked out.

Wow Janet sure glad the Lord kept you on your feet. Can't wait to see a photo of the painting.

Etta Sue I hate being without a phone you never know when you will need one. Thank God for Cell phones tho'.

Larry I am 1 year older than you 65 now. But your Birthday isn't until Saturday so I won't make you a card yet. haha

Pat are you feeling better? and did you get my email about that surgery thing with a friend?

Here we go again .........   :o

Today I received not one but two certified letters from the IRS demanding I respond immediately with the more than $13,000 they figure I owe or they will levy all my assets!  Well, I don't have any assets nor the $$$$ or I'd comply immediately.  Of course, my tax attorney is up to his eyeballs with paying clients in the throes of tax season, so I could only leave a message for him.  These things just make me feel like I've been beaten about the head and shoulders ... or something like that.   :(  It will be okay, I just hate getting this sort of mail

Marilyn I am happy for you that you have a good car. Now we need a home for you and your "family."  That's next, right?  God is good ... He always provides.

I was hoping to see news of Trav's little sister, too.  But I understand how discombobbled a new Daddy can become at a time like this.  Patience ... patience ...

JudyB I have read that before and it touched my heart then the same as just now...we all need to be more aware of "the person inside."

Beth it's so good to see you posting and to read that your horrendous headache is gone!  I'm still praying for John's mother...and John.

I'll be back later ... BTW, Etta Sue, I did miss you!!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi Everyone...

I've been lying down this evening trying to get rid of some discomfort in my neck and shoulder.  Was at the doctor today and she renewed my prescription for percocet.  I wish I were closer to Pat Hannah.  She could get rid of this pain!  She did in Wilmington!

Anyway...

Thanks for sharing that poem, Judy.  Nice to see you in here as well.  I've printed it out.

Yes, Marilyn, I got your email.  Thanks!

Nice to see you posting Beth.  Glad that your computer is better and better still, so happy you didn't nave a headache today.

We always miss you, Etta Sue and that's not nice when the lines are down.  I've been anxiously waiting for word about Travis's little sister as well.

Janet, your painting sounds lovely.  I'm sure we'll see photos of it when you have it done.

When will it ever end, Jane?  My goodness!  Praying for you.

Great to see "Gabby" on today.  Please don't be a stranger!  LOL

Well, must go and take another tablet and then I'll be back a little later,

Love you all,

Pat
