JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

What does the divine sufferer (Jesus) demand from us?
Only our faith,
our love,
our grateful praise,
our consecrated hearts and lives.
Is that too much to ask?

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Seeks, Seeds and Weeds
Mark 4:1-21  NLT

1Once again Jesus began teaching by the lakeshore. There was such a large crowd along the shore that he got into a boat and sat down and spoke from there. 2He began to teach the people by telling many stories such as this one:

3"Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seed. 4As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it. 5Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The plant sprang up quickly, 6but it soon wilted beneath the hot sun and died because the roots had no nourishment in the shallow soil. 7Other seed fell among thorns that shot up and choked out the tender blades so that it produced no grain. 8Still other seed fell on fertile soil and produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted." Then he said, 9"Anyone who is willing to hear should listen and understand!"

10Later, when Jesus was alone with the twelve disciples and with the others who were gathered around, they asked him, "What do your stories mean?"

11He replied, "You are permitted to understand the secret about the Kingdom of God. But I am using these stories to conceal everything about it from outsiders, 12so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled:

    `They see what I do,
but they don't perceive its meaning.
    They hear my words,
       but they don't understand.
So they will not turn from their sins
       and be forgiven.'

13"But if you can't understand this story, how will you understand all the others I am going to tell? 14The farmer I talked about is the one who brings God's message to others. 15The seed that fell on the hard path represents those who hear the message, but then Satan comes at once and takes it away from them. 16The rocky soil represents those who hear the message and receive it with joy. 17But like young plants in such soil, their roots don't go very deep. At first they get along fine, but they wilt as soon as they have problems or are persecuted because they believe the word. 18The thorny ground represents those who hear and accept the Good News, 19but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for nice things, so no crop is produced. 20But the good soil represents those who hear and accept God's message and produce a huge harvest--thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted."

21Then Jesus asked them, "Would anyone light a lamp and then put it under a basket or under a bed to shut out the light? Of course not! A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light will shine.

What kind of soil is your life right now?

The four soils represent four different ways people respond to God's Word.

Usually we think that Jesus was talking about four different kinds of people.  But he may also have been talking about (1) different times or phases in a person's live or (2) how a person receives God's message in some areas of his life and resists it in others.

For example, you may be open to God about your future but closed concerning how you spend your money.  You may respond like good soil to God's demand for worship but like rocky soil to his demand to give to those in need.

Ask God to help you strive to be like good soil in every area of your life at all times.

The drive to Bloomington, Indiana University, was great.  No problems at all.  The two hour drive seemed like a lot less time.  And of course, it always seems like a shorter drive back than going!!

This has ben a long day.  John just called, I was waiting up for the call.  Now to put the dog out, feed the furnace and off to bed.

Papa John I know the time with Cornelia is rollercoastering.  It is a difficult time for you  both.  Just remember we here are all praying for you both.

Marilyn I didn't respond to your situation when you posted, didn't read it till tonight.  I will be praying for a healling for you too.  I am there with you.

Janet you need to make sure you get enough rest.  you are pushing too hard I think.  Just remember I am continuing in prayer.

Etta Sue Good devotional.  Reminds me of Romans 12:1-2

Sue The emails are a great reminder.  I still am not totally organized. but I have redused a lot of clutter.  John is glad for that.

Have a good rest everyone and God Bless.

The Holy Spirit: Some Other Time
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I
do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because
I go to My Father.
--John 14:12
"You will receive power" (Acts 1:8a). "Eagerly desire the greater
gifts" (1 Corinthians 12:31a). Anything that God has ever done for a
soul He will do for anyone else, if the conditions are met. The Lord
who blessed these men that I spoke about, and the thousands who
followed them but whose names are not known, is willing to do the
same for us as He did for them.

Unbelief says: Some other time, but not now; some other place, but
not here; some other people, but not us. Faith says: Anything He did
anywhere else He will do here; anything He did any other time He is
willing to do now; anything He ever did for other people He is
willing to do for us! With our feet on the ground, and our head cool,
but with our heart ablaze with the love of God, we walk out in this
fullness of the Spirit, if we will yield and obey. God wants to work
through you!
The Counselor has come, and He doesn't care about the limits of
locality, geography, time or nationality. The Body of Christ is
bigger than all of these. The question is: Will you open your heart?
The Counselor, 121.

"This thought is very convicting, Lord. I know I've been guilty of
praising You for Your power and goodness, while secretly doubting
that You were really going to work in my present situation. Forgive
me that duplicity, Lord, and give me faith to believe You for Now,
for Here, for Me. Amen."

I pray the Lord will bless you all today and give you the desires of your heart.
If we do no get weary in well doing we will reap what we sow if we faint not.

I had a great night's rest last night...probably because I was tired when I finally got to bed....also I was cold.  I can't sleep when I am too warm.  Anyway, I feel very rested today!

I am praying everyone has a God-filled Day!

Nita

Karma, I sent you a pm.  You didn't get it?  Anyway she is fayepek on DPC and her PAD blog is called faye's fotos.  She sure has some great wildlife ones.  She has some real characters.  I like Maggie. haha

I slept well last night too.  I'm sitting here enjoying a cup of Hazelnut coffee and listening to the dogs play in the living room.  My daughter, Kim, will be here soon, for coffee and dog play, so they'll get excited when they hear her car.

Blessings, and as Etta Sue said, have a God-filled day. :)    Nita

Nita

Wow!  I can't believe no one has posted since my morning post.  I guess everyone is busy. :)

We, my daughter and I, just took the dogs for a walk.  It surely feels nice in the sunshine.  I did notice that lots of lawns were all nice and mowed.  Mine isn't.   Guess I'd better think harder about it.

Well, keep having a blessed day. lol

JudyB

During the day I rarely can get the puter to hook up to the server.  Today so far is different.

Hi Nita, and Karmat, also Etta Sue.

Pat where are you today?  Looking for some hymns to send to a friend.

Well bye for now and God bless.

Sue

Nita, mow the lawn?  Can I come do it for you?  I would really like a dose of summer right now.

Judy B, yes the reminders are nice.  If they keep me motivated to do my thing than I will consider it a positive influence!

Papa John, it is so nice to hear that your church family is taking care of you as well as your blood family.  I pray that Cornielia continues to improve one slow day at a time.

Al, I'm not sure what I would do without my blood family.  They can be frustrating at times, and I know there have probably been many days that mother would liked to have strangled me but I know she loves even so.

Please pray for this tiny little one

I had to work today and struggled with getting the job done as my nose had that raw feeling of a cold starting.  I left work and on a whim stopped by my daughters to see if she had left for work yet.  I was in luck and she was still home.  We went shopping and I priced out the DVD's at Walmart for the Toronto Gaither taping.  It will cost almost $100 plus taxes to get the DVD's and CD's for the shows.  Ouch!  Perhaps another day.  We then progressed to Zeller's (another department store) and I purchased two skirts that were 40% off each.  I wouldn't even have seen them if my daughter hadn't been with me.  I then dropped my daughter at work and I am now home and plan to take a Neo Citron and go to bed early.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

I have been very busy the last couple of days and didn't even get into CP yesterday to post.  Nothing in particular but a bunch of little things.

My son was over for several hours today and we were trying to decide what to do with my desktop computer.  We found a new replacement motherboard that matches what I have so I bought it outright from a seller on eBay for $25.  He will replace my motherboard when it comes as he has built several computers, incluidng one for me several years ago.  I hope that will solve the problem of it suddenly and unexpectedly rebooting.

Our washing machine died on us a couple of days ago.  As it was 25 years old we decided to replace it and the new Maytag was delivered today.

Pat has been busy as well helping with getting the decorations for our Senior Sunday ready.  This is an annual banquet our senior ministry has on the Sunday closest to Valentimes Day.  We have a lovely sitdown dinner and then entertainment.  They prepared for 16 tables.  She has been on the run all week and announced a little while ago that she was staying home tomorrow.

Papa John, glad to read that Cornelia is doing better and was able to come to the table.  That probably tired her but I expect it also was encouraging to her.  I thought it was a very good sign that she has once again started her lists for you.  We certainly don't want you to slack off on your duties. :)

I was so far behind that I am not going to make individual comments this evening.  I have enjoyed reading all the postsings and the devotionals.  Tomorrow I will be gone most of the day as it is our volunteer meeting for our computer learning center and then our Computer User Group in the afternoon.  My very good friend, Rod, is doing the presentation so it should be a good one.  I will take my laptop and webcam and we will do a demonstration as this is the subject of part of his program.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Janet

Good evening, everyone.  I had a great day again today, painting.  After the frustration of yesterday, it was really nice!  I do believe I will be able to finish three paintings in the 5 days, as I only have finishing touches to add tomorrow.  :) ;D

Thank you, Papa John and JudyB for your concern.  I felt better today, but now my arm/shoulder is really hurting again, so this will be a short post.

Good to see you, Larry!  I was wondering about you, and am glad you were just busy, and not ill.

Beth will be kept in the hospital for another week.  Her Dr. says those wounds need careful attention.  Darrel has been working so hard, trying to get her ramp lengthened so it isn't so steep, and forming up for pouring some concrete.

I'm going to shut this down, watch an hour of TV and hit the sack!

Love you guys!

Well I finally got on the internet with  the help from the cable company.  I must have had 125 emails to read. It was only a minor thing to get back on the internet. A small problem with my  firewall.

Jany took me to lunch at the airport , it has a real nice restaurant called the Silver Lining. Expensive too. We had Deep fried Cod and a green salad. $11.00 each. Ouch. Then I went to Fays and we went to the hardware store to get some pain and some chain. Tomorrow I will put the first coat of paint on her door where they put the board on the window. Also take her grocery shopping. She likes to get out when he weather permits and it's been so nice here for the last few days.

I washed my car so It will probably rain tomorrow >:(

Papa John

Cornelia has not been feeling as well today. When the physical therapist came her blood pressure was very low. She called and talked with the cardiologist's nurse. Later we took her blood pressure and it was up normal again. Later the nurse called back and said if it fell very low again we would need to bring her in to see the doctor.

Our daughter, Beth, came from Knoxville today. We just hope things will begin to improve soon. Cornelia is depressed because she keeps saying that she will never get any better. I believe it is just going to take some time and we need to be patient.

Sometimes we go two steps forward and one step back.  Yes, we get so much support from our church family.  When we were in the hospitals most of our elders came at one time or another for prayer.  She is of course on the prayer list which goes out everyday in email from the church.  A Baptist church down on the corner from us has her on their prayer list and she has received a great pile of get well cards.

Good to see everyone today.

Papa John, what you are describing is so like Jack was so often.  Depression is just so read and I've been told that it's so common for folks after a heart attack and after heart surgery.  I know that Jack had it but he came out of it.  How I'll be praying for you and Cornelia my dear brother.  You both are so special to me.
