JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you. . . But rejoice.
1 Peter 4:12-13

With maturity comes the ability to rejoice in trials.

The immature believer becomes angry, depressed, offended, stops singing, stops praying, stops reading the Bible, and asks, "Why did this have to happen to me?"

Peter teaches us that sufferings and trials are our portion in a world ruined by sin, and controlled by the devil. The devil wants us sad and silent, but the Lord says it is possible to have joy and be a good testimony in the midst of trials.

What we have in Christ cannot be taken away by any trial, and trials are our opportunity to show the world the difference that Christ makes.
-C. Knott

Faint not Christian! though thy God
smite thee with the chast'ning rod;
Smite He must with Father's care,
that He may His love declare.

Pat:  Rejoice in the trials.  Yes, it is sometimes difficult to stay strong.  The Book of Job is good to read through trials.

I can't sleep as result of a little earache that is now under control.  We leave at 5:30 A.M. for a day in Mexico -

Karmat:  thinking of you now.

Marilyn:  I am scheduled to begin my first PSP class on the 6th.
Best wishes to all.  Carol

Ruth Ann Bice

A friend and I were just discussing this subject day before yesterday. Continuing to pray and being thankful for trials is difficult, but we grow a lot when we follow our Lord's commands.

It's raining, so my back's playing up again.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

Good Morning Thank you Pat for the devotional. I have heard those comments from immature believers. Now I know what scripoture to give them. I like what C. Knott said.
Quotetrials are our opportunity to show the world the difference that Christ makes.

Carol if you have any problem email me and I will try to help you.

Going today for my first Deep Tissue Massage and adjustment. The first of 12 in 8 weeks that is.

RuthAnn sorry I missed your call yesterday.

Isn't it wonderful to see cindy back with us. Be sure to give her a big Welcome.

Hello!!  Don't know about Willie yet, but Phil in Pennsylvania saw his shadow this morning.  Hannah Cove (my neighborhood) Harry (just a name I gave him) is still sleeping as we here in the Southern Appalachians do things at our own pace.  However, it is very cloudy, so, I don't think he could see a shadow, even if he tried to wake up and get out and about.  :-)

I've got some stuff i need to do today, and all I want to do is curl up and sleep some more. :-)  Not likely though, 'cause Travis is raring to go.  Of course he is always raring to go.

That said, I guess the earlier I get started, the quicker I get finished and can get home to let "him" take a nap. <wink, wink>

6 days and counting . . . .

Well, Wiarton Willy didn't see his shadow.

    On February 2, 2004 [not this year (2005)] a white groundhog was rudely awakened in Wiarton, Ontario and at eight o'clock he looked around, saw his shadow, which according to Groundhog lore, means there will be six more weeks of winter.
Karma ~ The only groundhog to see his/her shadow is the one pulled from their burrows and with all the hoopla and flashbulbs going off the groundhog is bound to see his/her shadow, but ain't it fun.  ::) ;) 8)

    I didn't realize the new Cindy is the 'old' Cindy!!!  Welcome back!!!  Do you still work for the newspaper?  How are your lovely kids?  And you cat(s)?

    Great devotion, Pat.  I think God has shown me to look for the brighter side of life.  Whatever trial is given me, it could be worse.  Thank God, it isn't worse.

    It got cold again last night.  It is still winter and according to the sun in Indiana, it is going to be 6 more weeks of winter....THEN SPRING!! !! !

    I love my fireplace.  Really seems a lot cozier in my house!

    Happy Ground Hog Day ... 6 more weeks of winter & fog delays !! ( ha ha )

    Well, have to keep this short as I am getting ready to bake some cookies so I need to head back upstairs & get to work ... so I just wanted to stop in and say hello so have a wonderful day & I will be back when I get the cookies made up so take care & see you all soon !!

    Hugs,

    Larry Hanna

    Tbear, I will have a couple of those cookies--thanks!! :)

    I have another busy day as need to leave here before long to go to the Senior Center to teach the Windows Essentials class this afternoon.  Today's lesson is learning about the keyboard and then how to handle and retrieve a file from a CD.  This is a big break through in our classes as we have alwayrs had our students use floppy disks.  Of course now new computer generally don't have a floppy drive.  I was delighted to see our lessons start to use the CDs as many of our students have no idea of how to use their CD in their computers.

    Etta Sue, I would like to use some of your little graphics, like the one of the cross today, on our church webpage.  May I have your permission to use some of them.  I will try to remember to let you know so you can see how they were used.  Thanks.

    Pat, I really liked the devotional today.  I think as we get older and experience some of the trials of life regarding our health or that of loved ones it is an opportunity to grow in our Christian life.

    We have a groundhog on Stone Mountain, GA, called Beurigard Lee, and he didn't see his shadow this morning as it is raining, cold and dreary.  So I guess this means Georgia will not be having 6 more weeks of winter--at least I hope that is what it means.

    Welcome back Cindy.

    Karmat, sure hope Travis wanted that nap so you could close your eyes for a little while.  Better get all the rest you can because with a new baby and a three year old you won't be getting much of it for awhile.

    Marilyn, hope your massage therapy works well and you will be feeling better as a result.  Will the deep massage be painful?

    Ruth Ann, hope your back gets to feeling better.

    Guess I had better get a bite to eat for lunch.

    Janet

    WELCOME BACK, CINDY!!  ;D ;D

    I had a sleepless night worrying about Beth, because she called after I went to bed, and was hurting everywhere!  But she is feeling better this morning, and even took a shower.  I need to go over and wash her hair, as we have to be really careful of the wound.

    I went to the wellness center and worked out for an hour, then swam a quarter mile.  Now I feel like taking a nap!  But of course, too much to do for that, at least until later.

    Larry, I wish I had some of your computer skills.  Beth can't get online at all; her computer says it's still on dial-up, and she has had cable for months now.  I tried to figure it out, but had no luck.  Guess we will have to call someone to help her.  Mark is out of school on Friday, maybe he could come up and help her with it.  I will call and ask.

    Freezing fox!!! HAHAHAHA!  FOG!!!  Pat, I laughed out loud when I read that---it hadn't even occurred to me it may be a typo!  What a difference one letter makes!

    Larry, the deep tissue massages I had in Thailand sort of hurt, but in a good way, if you know what I mean.  Sure wish I could afford to get a massage once a month or so.  Marilyn..........enjoy!!

    Hello to Carol, Kathy, Liz, Etta Sue, Jerry, Papa John, TBear, and all whose names are not coming up in the computer in my head at this minute---OH---Karma and Nards!!  We are waiting anxiously with you for your precious little bundle of joy.  I LOVE the name you have chosen for her!

    Ruth Ann, big hugs to you today, and blessings to all of you.

    A quick hi-- please say urgent prayer for all involved this morning.

    At the airport where we work : Teterboro: a plane couldn't make the take off--went through
    fence across a busy highway crash landed into a warehouse which is right next door to a
    tech school.

    The miracles --no kids hurt at school or warehouse --plane was fully loaded with fuel
    but the type that doesn't explode on contact so no buildings had to be evacuated.

    The traffic lights on the highway were on in such a way that only two - three cars
    were in the way of the plane. (red light would have had dozens of cars stopped)

    The people in cars and some on board are at hospitals now with ---a miracle --only
    two people are missing at this time.

    Please pray.

    Will keep you posted.

    Going to check around and if I can get back and tell you more I will.

    Take care and as always,

    Love in Christ,

    Joyce

    Wow! It's amazing how these are always so applicable.
    I had a bad week, with intense pain that ended me up in the ER, where they didn't do any tests but gave me a shot and sent me home. At least not that I remember, I was pretty out of it. So went to the doctor for a followup and she wants to test again for MS. I hadn't told her that two other doctors said that before I moved here, didn't want to give her any ideas, but she said it too.
    Having cared for people with MS in the past, I can tell you that hearing you might have it really knocks any thoughts of praise right out of your head for a while! And my spiritual life has been suffering because of it.
    Gotta get back on track, and this was a good reminder!

    Judy, I did see Charles Stanley,(feel lost if I miss him), in fact my whole family watched with me.

    So very cute when the little girl he took out of the congregation just hugged
    and hugged him.

    His teary eyes said it all ---"-and a little child shall lead them "

    Liz, I did see part of Larry King show--what I saw was very good-maybe I
    will check and see when rerun will play and watch the whole program.

    Karmet, please rest up--you will definately need your strength and "then
    some more" in a few weeks.

    Janet, dear one, please take care and know that I am praying for your
    strength to keep you going and going and going in these trying times.

    Ruth Ann, prayers that your back will be back to normal --miserable
    having back aches....

    Thinking I will make this an early day; so much commotion and couldn't concentrate
    much on work.

    A lot of phone calls but nice to see such caring people wondering how we are.

    Love in Christ,

    Haven't heard about the plane accident, then again I'm still trying to figure out what the news channels are out here!
    It's so fortunate in that it was so potentially devastating and it wasn't. This country has been through enough!

    The Holy Spirit: Moratorium on Activity

    Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties;
    and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way
    everlasting.
    --Psalm 139:23-24

    I suppose my suggestion will not receive much serious attention, but
    I should like to suggest that we Bible-believing Christians announce
    a moratorium on religious activity and set our house in order
    preparatory to the coming of an afflatus from above. So carnal is the
    body of Christians which composes the conservative wing of the
    Church, so shockingly irreverent are our public services in some
    quarters, so degraded are our religious tastes in still others, that
    the need for power could scarcely have been greater at any time in
    history. I believe we should profit immensely were we to declare a
    period of silence and self-examination during which each one of us
    searched his own heart and sought to meet every condition for a real
    baptism of power from on high.  The Pursuit of Man, 94.

    "Lord, I do pray that You would move in the hearts of leaders in
    churches everywhere to prompt this time of silence and self-
    examination. So often activity feeds on itself and it takes a
    conscious effort to step off the treadmill to re-evaluate. Stimulate
    our hearts, and quiet us today to hear from You. Amen."

    Cleanse Me
    (Click to hear music)

    Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
    Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
    See if there be some wicked way in me;
    Cleanse me from ev'ry sin and set me free.

    I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
    Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within.
    Fill me with fie where once I burned with shame;
    Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

    Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine;
    Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
    Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
    I now surrender, Lord--in me abide.

    O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
    Send a revival--start the work in me.
    Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
    For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

    Hi Chris ~ I am usually lurking around. If I don't have anything to say, I don't post!  I thank you for noticing my picture. Etta Sue took this one and put it on her website. I then copied it when I got home and put it on CP. ;) 8)

    Special hi to youl, Jerry!  Often I don't have much to say either, but I like to drop by and just see what everyone has been up to.
    Sometimes I post something that I think is of interest, and there isn't even one comment from anyone...then I ask myself....why bother?
    Kinda silly feeling that way though isn't it.

    Joyce:  I saw that plane accident on CNN this morning.  Its a blessing that there were no fatalities.

    Gina: I'll be praying that you don't have MS.  I have a dear friend who was diagnosed with MS fifteen years ago.  She does have a few symptoms, but really  she is doing quite well.  I'll pray that this will be the case with you!

    Chris and Margit:  I always appreciate your devotions, and Pat's as well.

    Karma:  I must go back and read the baby's name.  I know you told us.

    Janet:  Oh dear - I am so pleased that Beth is feeling some better  How is John's Mom?

    Hi everyone.  Just back from choir practice, where we didn't have any heat and it was very cold, and we are now watching the President deliver the State of the Union Address before the United States Congress.  Interesting to watch the politicians.  Our class went well this afternoon although the material we were teaching in this lesson seemed to be a bit skimpy and we had to do some improvising to have training for the two hours.

    Welcome Rosebud.

    Janet, wish I lived closer (although really don't want to live in the midwest again as we love living here in Georgia) so I could help out with the computer for Beth.  Hope your grandson will be able to help change the settings so it doesn't try to dial up.  Computers can certainly be frustrating.  Sure hope today has been a better day for Beth and that you were able to get some rest.

    Joyce, that was a terrible plane accident and just a miracle that folks were killed in the cars and buildings as well as the plane.

    Gina, sure sorry to hear that you have had another doctor confirm the MS.

    See you all tomorrow.
