God is good, and He has not held my faults or my failings against me. He has never put up His hand when I have sought forgiveness, nor has He said to me, ‘No, Iain, not this time. I have given you enough chances and enough clean slates.’

IAIN:  Thank you for ALL of the words of encouragement.  Even though I know everything that you have written to be true and applicable to me...it was good to read them.  I never tired of hearing/reading of God's love for sinners and of His forgiveness for those who ask.

I especially liked the part where you said God never said, "No Iain, not this time.  I have given you enough chances and enough clean slates."

Surely He could have said that to me, but like you, He didn't.  He opened His arms and welcomed me home each time I failed.

We've got a couple of movies to watch.  One is the Billy Graham movie "A Vow To Cherish."

We watched the Billy Graham movie last night.  What a GREAT movie.  Ken Howard (you may remember that he was Ann Landers son-in-law)
is the husband, with a wife and two children.

In the movie, Ken's wife comes down with Alzheimers.  The movie is about his devotion to her, his commitment of taking care of her in all situations.  Others around him want him to have her committed to a care center, even his children....he will not do that.

Donna and I are approaching the time in our lives when something of that nature could happen to us.  We know and we are committed to doing whatever is necessary "Till death do us part."

Maybe we didn't understand it when we said those words back in July 1960, but as we've grown in the Lord, we know what they mean NOW.  AND we are more committed than ever to living out those words.

WISHING ALL GOD'S BLESSINGS TO EACH CP MEMBER IN 2005!!!

I had intended to stay up until midnight, but my eyes had other plans........ ;)  Each new year begins with or without my watching.  I am so thankful to God for another new beginning.  May we all let go of any old things we need to rid ourselves of;  anger, jealousy, envy, touchiness, unearned guilt..........along with clutter that mars our homes.  Yesterday I did get rid of some stuff and intend to do more of that today.  It is amazing how much more peaceful we feel in a clutter-free house.

Along with Marilyn's and Larry's churches, our church is having a pastor candidate coming tomorrow.  We have to take John to Dodge for his flight home, so will not be able to go in the morning, but hope to get home in time to go hear him tomorrow night.  Also, we are having a church supper tonight so everyone can meet the family.  This couple has three children.  I am praying for God's perfect choice in a pastor for the church.

My resolutions are the same as usual:  More time in the Word, and lose weight!   ;D

Thought I'd stop by and say 'hi' and a happy, healthy, and blessed New Year to all out there.  I spent the evening first at my church where we had a special service with testimonies of what the Lord had done over the past year, and then a call to pray BIG PRAYERS in the year to come!  After that, we singles had a party at a members home with lots of great food, games and fellowship. A couple of ladies rode with me and we left the party about 11:30 and got home just at midnight.
It's now 10:15 and I'm not out of my jammies yet! Just enjoying the morning...  Don't get to do that anymore since I'm working... :-\
Shalom.

Is "JESUS" the sweetest Name you know?

Jesus Is the Sweetest Name I Know
(Click to hear music)

Thy Name is as ointment poured forth.
Song of Solomon 1:3

Words & Music: Lela B. Long

There have been names that I have loved to hear,
But never has there been a name so dear
To this heart of mine, as the Name divine,
The precious, precious Name of Jesus.

Refrain
Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
And He's just the same as His lovely Name,
And that's the reason why I love Him so;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.

There is no name in earth or heav'n above,
That we should give such honor and such love
As the blessed Name, let us all acclaim,
That wondrous, glorious Name of Jesus.

Refrain

And some day I shall see Him face to face
To thank and praise Him for His wondrous grace,
Which He gave to me, when He made me free,
The blessed Son of God called Jesus.

Happy 2005 from Noblesville, Indiana!!!!  Yes, Larry, I have discovered PSP again and animations.  It is fun!!!!!

Whew!  What a day so far.  I was awake at a few minutes before midnight EST but woke up a few minutes after midnight.  Jerry was upset because when I changed channels, he missed the big ball coming down on Times Square!  I was asleep!!!

It is dark and gloomy here in Indiana today.  Not a day for much of anything other than vegging out.  I haven't even fixed lunch yet.  So I had better run.

Good morning on this brand new day of a brand new year!  We have stormy winter weather here today but I'm staying inside so let it rain!  I've got my fire to keep me warm.   ;)

Yes, PAT
... "Jesus" is the sweetest name I know ... And He's just the same as His lovely Name ... Thanks for all the songs you bring to us here in CP.

I notice a small problem has shown up in my home:  The skylight is leaking in my kitchen!  :-\  Just as I was leaving for my trip to California, a few weeks ago, it was leaking and I placed a pan on the floor under the skylight and (tried to) patch the place where I saw water coming in.  During the night we have had some pretty heavy rains and, once again, when I went into the kitchen the floor was wet!  I guess I'll have to find some young person who can climb up on my roof and fix the seal around the skylight.  hmmmm   :-\  Of course that will have to be when it stops raining!   ;)

I am off to look at some of the other forums and then I'm going to do some reading and maybe a little studying.

I'll be back ...
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

I'd really appreciate maybe owning a copy of this film.    I found it touching as it's coming up to Jan. 10 when I lost my dearest friend on earth and I miss him so much.  I know that Jack would be so very, very happy to be a part of CP.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from Vancouver Island, BC.  I looked outside this morning and our world had been changed from green to a lovely white.  Snow is still falling, tho' it is starting to melt.  Misty (cat) is outside having a great time.  Squeek looked outside and went back to the fireplace!

Papa John, that is a great site.  My ears are still ringing!!

Have a quiet day planned....taking down the decorations and returning to normal.  Finding a warm spot and curling up with a James Michener book 'Recessional'.  About retirement living in Florida.

Thanks Pat for all your hard work....and also to the helpful elves who make many lives better.

Pleasant Day to all.  Liz

Jane, that's terrible!  I'm sorry about your leak.  I hope you can get to the bottom of this problem soon.

Hurray for all you stay-up-laters!  It was really quiet here last night.  I was asleep before midnight, and didn't wake up, so I'm assuming it was quiet.

I'm not making any resolutions at all.  I'm trying to set some goals for just today!  Puppies need baths, burn some papers if the rain lets up a minute. (actually, I see sunshine at this moment).  Well, I guess I do have one resolution.  I need to be in the Word more.....reading with commitment and purpose.

Jane, sorry about your skylight.  I have lots of leaks, but they are all in the garage so far, right at the back door, but still not in the kitchen.  This poor roof has been patched so many times.  If they tried to replace it, the entire structure might collapse.  :P  One thing about older homes.....always something.

Blessings in this brand new year.  My prayer for all of us, for this year, is that we may walk more and more in step with the Holy Spirit each day.  I'm praying that our hearts may become more tender to the Lord's voice, and we might each experience anew a "First Love" surrender to our wonderful Jesus, Lord and King, Brother and Friend....Savior.  Oh, how I need Him.

Janet

We are just home from the church supper.  The prospective pastor and family are VERY nice, very approachable and down-to-earth.  I hope they are voted in.......and I haven't even heard him preach yet!  We plan to get home from Dodge in time to hear him tomorrow night, though.

Somthing unusual happened tonight.  One of the board members announced that a family had come by the church earlier, I think there were 5 or 6 in the family.  Anyway, they said they had just arrived in town, had come here from Texas to take a job.  They had found an unfurnished mobile home to rent, but had NOTHING with them--no beds, no blankets, not even a towel!  So he asked anyone who wanted to go home after the supper and bring back any items they wanted to give this family.  He told the guy to come back by about 8 or 8:30, but he showed up again at 7, before we had finished eating, so there was nothing there for him yet.  Beth told them if they wanted to come get it, she had a futon they could have.

What we (Darrel and I) thought so strange is that they would come to take a job; bring their kids, and bring NOTHING with them.  Not even a pillow or a blanket??  Does this seem odd to you?  It sort of makes us wonder if they are running from the law or something.  Or are they just very unprepared, and rather foolish?  What do you think?

Our internet connection fouled up again today, but now is on again.  Maybe just too many kids out of school and on the net!  Hope it stays on now.  I don't want to have to call them again about it.

We will be away again tomorrow, taking John to catch his flight back home.  Beth is really going to miss him!

God bless you all...........good night.

That was fun, Marilyn.  I was going to turn off the computer, then decided to check a few sites first....
My quiet day didn't happen, ended up cooking dinner.
Also no time to read....always have at least two books on the go....second one is:
A World According to God, by Ron Hansen.  Just in case folks think I only read things that are not 'worthwhile'!  Seems that wrong impressions are easily formed these days.

Pleasant dreams all.  Liz
