Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.
Psalm 19:7

In what ways is the "law of the Lord (i.e., the Word of God) perfect"?

First, it is perfect in the sense of being inerrant, containing no flaws, inconsistencies or contradictions.

Second, it is perfect in the sense of being complete and all-sufficient to meet man's needs.

Third, it is perfect in the sense that it reveals God, who is perfect in His character and in all His ways. God's Word is a perfect revelation.

As the instrument of the new birth (1 Pet. 1:23), if believed, it converts the soul.

Has it converted your soul?
--W. Ross Rainey

Precious holy Bible, treasure rich and rare,
Word of God eternal, balm for every care;
God's full revelation of the sin of man,
And of Christ's redemption, and salvation's plan.
--A. P. Gibbs

Yes Pat. "Precious Holy Bible"

"In the early 1980s none of us had a Bible.  Between all of our hundreds of church memebers we had just one New Testament.

A little later we started to receive Bibles as a result of "Operation Pearl", when foreign Christians boldly brought one million Bibles into China on a boat.

The Bibles we received were all wet and we had to dry them in the sun and separate the pages, but we didn't care.  These gifts were more precious than gold!"

Good Morning from California 4:40 a.m. I couldn't get back to sleep after getting up to take some Ibuprofen for the pain in my elbow and wrist, which started to hurt again yesterday in church. I decided to stay up and fix a cup of coffee now the pain is gone but I am not going back to bed.

I am enjoying the music Pat so nice, thank you.

Soni happy that you made it back home safe and sound. Is there any news on your Brother?

I heard from Billy Carper over the weekend and will post a prayer request for him.

:) Good Morning everyone, It's been a while since I have posted but I have been to Colorado and came home sick but am feeling somewhat better now. The weather in Colorado and all across the mid west was wonderful and I had a good trip. The day I was in Denver I was walking around in shirt sleeves. What a difference with the temp of home. I managed to stay ahead of a weather front coming home which was good.I see you folks have been busy on CP as it took me some time to catch up on all the news from when I left on my trip. Judy keeps me up to date as well while I am on the road so you may not hear from me for a while but I do keep up on the events that are going on, and please be assured that you folks are prayed for. I'm going to go for now, some things to do.
God Bless.

Good morning Bonesy, Marilyn, Pat, Sue, Ria and Jenny!
I had a great weekend.

Troy won first in the 50 freestyle and 2 seconds in I think 100 free.  He did good!

We had a great time with my family. It was the first time we all had been together in about 22 years.  It was busy in my mom's little house.  I took lots of pictures.  I am getting them ready right now. Fun!

My brother is doing much better.  He was a little wore out but that is to be expected.

I will be back later.
Soni

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We have a sunny morning but it is chilly here today.  We are suppose to have colder weather for several days.

We had a good church service yesterday and then enjoyed dining out with several other friends.  I came home and rested a little and then watched football.

Pat, that is indeed a beautiful medley of hymns and am listening to it as I work here on my computer.  Isn't it comforting to know that the word of God is perfect and something we can truly rely on.  Everything else seems to be changing in our societies and not for the better, in my view.

Sonja, glad to read that you were home safely and look forward to details of your weekend and learning how Troy did in his swim meet.

Jenny, reading your excerpt from the book about Brother Yun makes me realize how much we take having the Bible for granted.

Ria, we have had a number of incidents in the USA where students have attached teachers or other students.  Just within the last week or so a student was arrested as he was planning such attacks.

Marilyn, sorry you couldn't sleep well for the pain in your elbow and wrist but glad the medication made it stop.  Getting up so early you should have a nice long day.  It sounds like you have a wonderful Sunday in the fellowship of your church.

bonesy, hope the illness you came home with is short lived and glad you were ahead of the bad weather.

Hope everyone has a great day.  I plan a nice quiet day working here at my computer on some webpage updates.

Papa John

Well, Cornelia and I are reading through the Bible  out loud again this year.  We have finished Genesis and are now in Exodus.  Reading and studying the Bible is important because we want to understand the truth God has revealed to us.

Acts 17:11  Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. (NIV)

I hope you all have a good day.  It has been trying to snow here but it is just a little flurry.  The temperature us now 21 degrees and it is supposed to get up to 30 degrees today.  This is a good time for an old man like me to stay indoors.

--- Papa John    ;D          <:))))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Etta Sue

Good morning all.  Church was great yesterday.  The message was on anti-abortion.  We had a comical, heart-rendering skit about a boy and girl in the womb.  Really put the message of ProLife across.

Jerry and I later had breakfast and then went to WalMart.  I needed a few things and so did Jerry.  It snowed all the way to his house.  I wanted to stay but also felt I should get home.  So I brought Jerry home with me.  We watched TV...glad I have 'picture-in-picture...so I could watch the Colts game.  Indiana so wanted the Colts to go to the Super Bowl but it won't happen this year.  I am not a sports fan BUT when it is big games like this one...I like to be in the know...not read about it in the paper or watch it on the 6 o'clock news.  Ali and Inky entertained Jerry and I.  It was like Inky was showing Jerry what all she could get into!  She is a busy little one, for sure.

Today is bright and sunny.  I did see a few flurries while we were reading our daily Bible readings.  Oh, I just looked.  It is cold out there....only 13°F.  Think I will stay inside today.

Glad everyone had a super God's day and all who were traveling, arrived to their destinations safe and sound.

Personal Life: Stay in the Secret Place

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will
direct it to You, and I will look up.
--Psalm 5:3

Retire from the world each day to some private spot, even if it be
only the bedroom (for a while I retreated to the furnace room for
want of a better place). Stay in the secret place till the
surrounding noises begin to fade out of your heart and a sense of
God's presence envelops you. Deliberately tune out the unpleasant
sounds and come out of your closet determined not to hear them.
Listen for the inward Voice till you learn to recognize it. Stop
trying to compete with others. Give yourself to God and then be
what and who you are without regard to what others think. Reduce
your interests to a few. Don't try to know what will be of no
service to you. Avoid the digest type of mind--short bits of
unrelated facts, cute stories and bright sayings. Learn to pray
inwardly every moment. After a while you can do this even while you
work. Practice candor, childlike honesty, humility. Pray for a
single eye. Read less, but read more of what is important to your
inner life. Never let your mind remain scattered for very long.
Call home your roving thoughts. Gaze on Christ with the eyes of
your soul. Practice spiritual concentration.  Of God and Men,
128-129.

"Lord, I need all of these practical suggestions. Direct me today
to those things that would most enhance my walk with you, and
enable me to serve You better. Amen."

MIEKA says hi to all her friends on CP!

Nita and I were chatting with Mieka on Yahoo last night and she made me promise that I would "say a hi to everyone I love on CP"  She said "It will take you many hours to do that."  She started to name each of you to whom she wanted to send love, and hugs, and sunshine, and flowers, and candy and smiles and ... It truly would take me many hours!  Anyway, I chose this way to try to deliver her message.  Hope you don't mind.    :-\
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Carol

Thanks, Jane for sending on the message from Mieka!  It is good to hear that she is doing well.

In "Grace for the Moment" by Max Lucado - today's message is on David, who says "I will live in the house of the Lord forever" - it is because he yearns to be with God forever, not that he wants to shut out others.  It is good to remember that we have Grace every moment of our lives.

Carol

Hello everyone!  I am at work.  The college I work for didn't have class today, so most of my students assumed they didn't either.  ::)  The Basic Skills department doesn't take many breaks.

I am just looking around.

Glad the update went smoothly.  Hope Spiff sticks around awhile, though he is probably a pretty busy young man.  Thanks, though, if you stick you head in!

I'll "talk" more later.  Got some stuff I gotta do, right now!

Good afterneen everyone.............

It's really been a quiet morning.  We just got back from Hawaii. ;)  Not really, but we did spend two hours watching an old video from two trips we took in 1988/9 with our two foster children.  Kevin, our oldest went with us in '88 and the island folks didn't want us to take him back with us.  Kevin really blended in perfectly because he is black and white and very handsome.  His finding Island kids to play ball with caused their parents to invite us to a great family picnic.  Kevin was only ten at the time, and had been  raised in cheap motels with his hooker mother who was always on dope and in and out of jail.  Kev had a pretty bad start in life and for a time adjusted very well to a complete change in lifestyle. It was fun watching the two of us surfing and playing on the beach. I told Vivian I'm ready to go back.

Welcome Megan...........

The folks in here will treat you like family.
