Morning Devotional...

I will remember the works of the Lord...I will remember Thy wonders...I will meditate also of all Thy work, and talk of Thy doings..
Psalm 77:11-12

What wonderful words to describe both private devotion and public worship in the Lord's Supper.

To remember is to call to mind, to bring into my thoughts.

To meditate is to turn it over and over in the mind, looking at it from different angles to appreciate it more, comparing spiritual with spiritual.

Then we open our hearts and mouths in praise and worship, to "talk of Thy doings."

Jesus, Thy boundless love to me
No thought can reach, no tongue declare;
O knit my thankful heart to Thee
And reign without a rival there.

Ooooohhh, first entry. That's one advantage of working the midnight shift.

I was struck by the word remember in the scripture passage quoted above

I will remember the works of the Lord...I will remember Thy wonders...I will meditate also of all Thy work, and talk of Thy doings..
Psalm 77:11-12

We are supposed to be reminded of the things of God, by the things around us.
How are we to remember the wonders of God if we are stuck in little cubicles all day
and return to apartment blocks, condos, and subdivisions each night. (or in my case each morning)????

There is at least one thing we can do, and that is to meditate on His word, and what He has done in our lives.
If you have not done so, try writing out your testimony, and I think you will remember (there's that word again)
what the Lord has done for you.

And since I talked about writing out a testimony here is the link to my testimony whick I just posted. ;D

Lovely devotional Soni and a beautiful verse underneath.

Well Smokey, the Psalmist got real down at a certain time when he looked about him and he envied the wicked, until he remembered.........!

He remembered God's wonders of old and His goodness to him now.

What can I remember this morning?

Well I remember that I need to take my filthy soul to the Cross for cleansing.
I remember to confess all my sins before Him.
I remember that He has promised to forgive me for all my sins if I confess them.
I remember that He clothes His own with a robe of His righteousness. - WOW!!!

Oops! I forgot no need to shout now. Is there Bob? I'm chuffed for you brother.

I remember that He heals the brokenheated and He lifts the poor from the dunghill.

I remember from the Scriptures that all who were sick and who came to Jesus were healed!

I remember His words on the cross, 'It is finished!'

Most of all I remember that He did it all for a sinner like me.

With love and prayerful thoughts for you all, especially those laid aside through illhealth.

Your brother in Christ

Iain

Hi everyone.  I wanted to get here and post as we will be away most of the day.  We are going to visit with our former neighbors, who should be moving to Ohio sometime later this year.  They are having a home built in a retirement community and they can't seem to get started on it so they are still living here in Georgia.  They are elderly and they have no family close here but do in the town in Ohio where they are moving.  We will miss them as they have been wonderful friends for almost 25 years.

Janet, so glad that Beth heard from the doctor as to the date of her surgery and that she had a good day yesterday.  Enjoy that visit with Abby, I am sure she will make your heart sing today just being around her.

Bob, certainly great to read of your hearing recovery.  Hope your doctor keeps his word and does go to church with you on Sunday.  I have a good friend who is suffering with a recent hearing loss and in the process of trying to get hearing aids.  He is a good Christian man and I must relate your experience to him.

Sonja, thanks for the devotional today.

Hope all who are ailing will wake up this morning feeling better.

Time to leave to go to coffee.

Good Morning: Am I the only one up so early, 6:15 am on the west coast of America, Well I have been up since 5:15, I still have to go to work today. I work 7 days a week. On Sunday I go after church. Being a caregiver to a 95 year old blind lady is a 7 day per week job.

Good to see all the newcomers coming in to CP.

Speaking of remembering what the Lord has done for me. Our New Pastor has asked us to write down all the blessing we have received from the Lord. The first and foremost of mine is that  God picked me up in the Desert wilderness literally, (the Mojave desert). He changed my life from one of drugs, physical and mental abuse, and saved my life, many times over I should have been dead.

That's all for  now folks.

Good morning all!!

Yes, I think we should stop, and remember.  Sometimes remembering what God has done for us helps us to have the strength and desire to go forward, even when times are bad or frustrating.  And it is the memory of the things he has done for me that helps me in my times of discouragement.

The weather outside truly looks frightful (or at least the forecast does).  Only 3 - 5 inches of snow called for, but winds up to like 40 or 60 mph.  (if that number is wrong, I'll let nards correct me).  But a blizzard withouta  lot of snow.

Take care and have a good day/weekend!!

Sonja ~ Glad to see you posting about the kids.  Words about them are always precious to hear.  I am praying that all of the kids thrive in whatever they try to achieve.  And thanks for a great devotional this morning.  Food for thought.

Bob ~ Awesome.  I am praying that your doctor receives an awesome message at your church.  Then he accepts Christ Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  How great thou art?

Chris ~ You have the bestest photos with scriptures.   ;) The scriptures always fit the photo to a T.

OK Tom ~ As a Christian it is hard to understand why some of God's kids reject Him.  I am so thankful, he accepted me into His Kingdom.

Papa John ~ Again, my condolences to you and Cornelia for the loss of your family members.  BTW, are you going to Florida again this year?  When?  I will be at Bradenton, leaving Feb. 23 and coming back to Indy by Mar.6.  How awesome it would be to meet you and Cornelia while I am down there.  I emailed your SrNet buddy and I am hoping to meet him and his better half, too.

Judy Mc ~ Get better quick.  A week is too long to feel bad.  So far, I have avoided the bug.

Janet ~ I know you are on cloud nine to have Abby with you once again.  And I know you are glad that surgery is scheduled for Beth.  All of you are in God's hands.  Take comfort in that.

SmokeytheDog ~ I read your testimony.  Wonderful how God works, isn't it?

Iain ~ Yes, remember!  I remember that Christ died on that cross for me.  That through Him, I confess my sins and I am forgiven.  My faith in Him brings me solace that my eternity will be in Heaven with my Father and His Son at His side.  I'm thankful every day for the gift God gives us in Christ, the forgiveness of sins, the promise of everlasting life, the promise He will be with us each day, the assurance that we are His children and He is our Father.

Larry ~ So glad you stopped in before spending the day with your friends.  Hopefully, it will be a relaxing day....you need one.  You are always soooo busy.

Marilyn ~ Good morning.  I have you in my prayers that your week will be much better and not so stressful.

Hi Karma...sounds like fiece weather is abounding in the U.S.  Stay in and keep warm.

Soon after I got up, I got on my winter gear and went to the garage.  My car almost didn't start...last time I had it out was Tuesday.  ::)  But it started and then I 'plowed' out my drive and Ivalou's by driving back and forth and back and forth.  My county is under a ...

Good morning, everyone.  Nice to have all your posts today, and very nice devotional, Soni.  Thanks for that.  We need to be put in remembrance often of all God has done and is doing for us.

I went to help with the Shares this morning.  I don't know how many of you have this program, it is at our Senior Center, but anyone can participate.  You pay $14 to $18 and get groceries worth twice that much (roughly).  Today we got oranges, apples, grapefruit, kiwis, lettuce, cauliflower, potatoes, shrimp, sea bass, hot pockets, chicken, roast beef, and pizza things.  And I may be forgetting some of it.  I try to go early and help hand the stuff out; they always need help with that.  They do it once a month.

Beth is having difficulty today.  She said her throat hurts really bad, she has pain in her chest that goes clear through, and she can't take a deep breath.  I have a call in to her doctor; if it gets any worse, I will take her to the emergency room.  Five days is a long time, if she gets to the emergency stage!  I am praying and not panic-ing.  But it is scary! :'(

Abby was so thrilled this morning, because my nephew came out with his little one year old daughter, and Abby got to baby sit her, while Lance and Darrel were upstairs doing bookwork.  (This was while I was gone helping with Share.)  Autumn, the baby, loves our dog, Cookie.  And today she kept saying "Dog!  Dog!"  :) :D ;D  When I drove into the garage, Abby came running out, jumping up and down and saying "My cousin's here!"  ;)

My little doll wants to go work on her painting she started at Christmas time, so I need to get off this computer and spend time with her.  Yes, I do enjoy her so much; she can always make me smile!

Pat, I hope you are feeling all better today----and you, too, Judy!

Please keep praying!!!

Personal Life: Be Thou Exalted

The Lord lives! Blessed by my Rock! Let God be exalted, the Rock of my
salvation!
--2 Samuel 22:47

O God, be Thou exalted over my possessions. Nothing of earth's
treasures shall seem dear unto me if only Thou art glorified in my
life. Be Thou exalted over my friendships. I am determined that Thou
shalt be above all, though I must stand deserted and alone in the
midst of the earth. Be Thou exalted above my comforts. Though it mean
the loss of bodily comforts and the carrying of heavy crosses, I shall
keep my vow made this day before Thee. Be Thou exalted over my
reputation. Make me ambitious to please Thee even if as a result I
must sink into obscurity and my name be forgotten as a dream. Rise,
O Lord, into Thy proper place of honor, above my ambitions, above my
likes and dislikes, above my family, my health and even my life
itself. Let me decrease that Thou mayest increase; let me sink that
Thou mayest rise above. Ride forth upon me as Thou didst ride into
Jerusalem mounted upon the humble little beast, a colt, the foal of
an ass, and let me hear the children cry to Thee, "Hosanna in the
highest."  The Pursuit of God, 101-102.

"In my increasing knowledge of You, Lord, and as I spend more time
in solitude and silence before You, this prayer becomes so logical.
Be Thou exalted in my life. Amen."

Etta Sue,  we ARE going to Florida again this year but unfortunately it will be later in March.  We are due to arrive there March 19th.  I hope you do get to meet Norm when you are there.

Thomas Hood wrote the familiar lines:

I remember, I remember
The fir-trees dark and high;
I used to think their slender tops
Were close against the sky;
It was a childish ignorance,
But now ’t is little joy
To know I ’m farther off from heaven
Than when I was a boy.

Unlike Hood, I would say that I am closer to heaven than when I was a boy.

What a neat idea...to look at what God has done from us from different angles. I never thought about it like that, but will have to take the time to appreciate it on many levels. Thanks!  :)

It's 51 degrees here. I'm so thankful I'm not in OHIO anymore, hehe! I spoke to a friend of mine who works at a charity organization and she has just been overwhelmed with requests for help. People who had received special help during Christmas apparently lost a lot of it when the ice storms hit and some were out of electric for 5 days, or more, or less. Roads are still flooded and makes getting to work hard for some.
Sounds like it's worse than anything I'd ever seen out there, as I cannot recall ever having seen the roads flooded for more than a few hours, and never in the middle of winter and topped with ice and snow! EKE! Poor peoples.

Here's an update on Indiana weather. .........SNOW!  SNOW!  AND MORE SNOW!!!

I got a surprise telephone call from TBear.  So nice to hear from her again.  Good to hear her voice and I recognize it now.

Pooh, Papa John ~ I sure was hoping.  Maybe some other time.

My brother in Florida called this morning and said he was waiting until the dew dried before taking the dog for a walk.  Dew?  What is dew?

I jaunted out to the mailbox.  Walked over to my brother's mailbox to get the paper for Ivalou.  His mailbox is on the ground.  I took Ivalou's mail to her and she said she had already gotten Kaye Don's paper and the mail box was fine then.  The snow plows play havoc with mailboxes.  Mine and Ivalou's has never been knocked down.  Hallelujah!

Where I cleared the snow this morning is all covered again.  You can barely see my tire tracks where I drove back and forth and back and forth.

WinterRose

Another quick update on Beth.  She is feeling some better; her pain has lessened, but she is still not breathing as well as she should.

Dr. Cone's nurse called Beth this morning and said we need to be at his office on Wed. before 5 to do paper work; then to the hospital for her pre-op stuff.  Then she will check into the hospital at 6 AM Thursday; surgery is scheduled for 8 AM.  They expect the operation to take two to three hours, and that she will be in the hospital 3 to 5 days.  Prayers appreciated!

Abby thought it was warm enough to go play in the park, but we froze out before long.  The temp here has dropped from a wonderful 70 yesterday to 30 today, with a cold wind blowing.  But none of that white stuff.

Later!

That IS a nice link, Pat...thanks.

Pat - are you feeling better?  I think I am...well, sort of >:(  have a headache though - a headache is something I seldom get.

Janet:  Gosh - that SHARE program sounds like a god-send for some people.  Do you have to apply for it., or is it just for seniors?  I've never heard of such a program, but you certainly got lots of good stuff for $20.00!! :D

I will be remembering our Beth in prayer for next Wednesday.  Oh - I hope they give her LOTS of pain med'n.....acute surgical pain is always frightening.

Oh my - the wind here in Guelph is SO COLD!!  Rags just went outside to "do his thing"...it didn't take him long.  There was no jumping and skipping along in the snow tonight, like he usually likes to do... :D

Everyone, have a good night.  Doubt Norm and I will get to church tomorrow....we are still weak from the flu! :(

Judy, anyone can get the shares.  One guy today had ordered them for every one of his employees, and some for gifts.  And they were $18.00, not 20.  A really good deal!  I'm glad you are feeling better today, and the headache is probably the after effects of the crud you had.  Hope you get up in the morning feeling "fit as a fiddle!"

Karen---I wasn't rubbing it in!  I was telling you our temp dropped 40 degrees overnight!  That isn't unusual at all for Kansas.  But this is a very mild winter for us so far.  We usually have lots more snows and blizzard conditions---and we still might; winter is far from over!  I just pray for good weather to get to and from the hospital!

Abby has finished her painting this afternoon that she started just after Christmas.  Want to see a photo?  I'm heading over to post some. :)

I came back to say Darrel wants to take Abby and me to supper, so I will do it after I get back!

We went to Alejandro's, our favorite Mexican restaurant here in town.  I'm home now, so here I go to post those pictures!  ;D

Marilyn, thanks so much for having your prayer chain pray for Beth.  God has brought her through so much already, I know He will be with her through this as well.  Prayer is the best thing anyone can do for her (us) now.

No one has posted since my last post, so I am using modify instead of making a new post.  I have the photos up now, under the title Budding Artist.  Go have a look, if you'd like.

And I wanted to post this one here, so you would all see it.  Pat, I hope you won't mind.  I want these two to have many more years to do this............

The "blizzard" is here.  So far we still have power.   . . . .  The wind is really blowing hard (well, not at the exact moment but has been), and it looks like hte ground is white.

This would not be a good time to go into labor.

have a good evening and stay warm.   I'm going to find something to eat .

Larry Hanna

I was here early this morning so will finish my day with another posting.  Yesterday we were up to probably 70 degrees but it has been foggy and much colder all day long.  Then this evening we have a severe weather alert for the high winds we are to experience tonight, up to 45 miles and hour.  At least we don't have to worry about snow like so many other places.  Tbear and Etta Sue, that shoveling sure sounds like work.

Janet, I haven't heard of a Shares program in our area.  I sort of remember that my folks had a similar program in Missouri for several years.  How far is it to the hospital where Beth will be going from where you live?  Will you be staying there or driving back and forth?

Judy, hope you and Norm get to feeling stronger soon.  If it is so cold probably the best thing to stay in where it is warm tomorrow.  Sure don't to hear that you all are having a relapse from getting out when it is bad.

It is getting late so guess I had better sign off for tonight.  We did have a nice time with our friends today.

Marilyn

Got my w-2's today and did my taxes on line, Cost me $44. to get back $26. but it is worth it to me to do them online  and e-file them than to have to do them myself. One year H&R Block charged me 100. to get 100. I made $100 that time but this time I am $18. in the RED.

Already took my shower and smell much better than before  :o Lots of baby powder. 8) I feel kind of silly tonight, don't know why.

Janet, I wil lpray that they will have many more years together.

NIte all more tomorrow.
