Morning Devotional...

What do you do about sin?

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1Jn 1:8, 9

If we're Christians, we don’t want to sin.  Sin is rebellion, and we don’t want to be in rebellion against our gracious and loving Lord.  Nevertheless, along with the Apostle Paul, we have to say, “For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.  For what I am doing, I do not understand, for what I will to do, that I do not practice, but what I hate, that I do.”  So what happens?  We finally get to the place of saying, “My Lord won’t forgive me this time - I’ve sinned too often.”

But what we desperately need to remember is that our Lord has already forgiven us!  The Scripture before us doesn’t tell us to beg for forgiveness.  It just tells us to confess the sins to Him.  It tells us “he is faithful and just to to forgive us our sins!”  I hope it's clear that He can’t be just unless He’s already dealt with forgiven sins.  He dealt with them in His Son on the Cross.  It’s DONE!  The forgiveness is already there and waiting for us, and we can do one of two things: we can refuse it, or we can thank Him for it and accept it!  Which will it be for you today?  Let's end each day with confession.  Let's begin each day as forgiven children!

Are You Washed in the Blood?
(Click to hear music)

Elisha A. Hoffman, 1839-1929

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest.
And he said to me, These are they
which came out of great tribulation,
and have washed their robes, and made them
white in the blood of the Lamb.
Revelation 7:14

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Chorus:
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you walking daily by the Savior's side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Chorus

When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Chorus

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There's a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb!

Chorus

Personal Life: God Is in That!

Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with
all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to
heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your
holy Servant Jesus.
--Acts 4:29-30

Some are concerned because there are not more miracles and wonders
wrought in our midst through faith. In our day, everything is
commercialized. And I must say that I do not believe in commercialized
miracles.

"Miracles, Incorporated"--you can have it!

"Healing, Incorporated"--you can have that, too! And the same with
"Evangelism, Incorporated" and "Without a Vision the People Perish,
Incorporated." I have my doubts about signs and wonders that have to
be organized, that demand a letterhead and a president and a big
trailer with lights and cameras. God is not in that!

But the person of faith who can go alone into the wilderness and get
on his or her knees and command heaven--God is in that. The preacher
who will dare to stand and let his preaching cost him something--God
is in that. The Christian who is willing to put herself in a place
where she must get the answer from God and God alone--the Lord is in
that!  Faith Beyond Reason, 33-34.

"Lord, forgive me for so often trying to box up my plans and organize
Your work so it can all be controlled and explained. Take over, Lord,
and do Your thing, not mine, today. Amen."

Beth ~ I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing.  I have you, your siblings and all involved in my prayers.  I am praying that your surgery goes on as scheduled.

Bob ~ WOW!  I didn't realize your loss of hearing was since birth.  I can just see you going around your house and making little noises and then I can see your face with delightment in hearing those little noises.  Even a little squeaky door.  Heat in a register.  A bird singing outside.  Lots of little noises we hearing people take for granted.

Ruth Ann ~ Sounds like you had a busy, fulfilled weekend.  How awesome is that?

We are having a heat wave.  It is all the way up to 26°F right now.  I hadn't seen Stray Cat since Ivalou and I left for church yesterday.  He is sooooo sick looking.  I don't know if he is going to make it or not.  Even when Tony was here, he didn't come out of his carrier.  Jerry came over later and late last night, I opened the door.    Stray Cat came up on the deck.  What is so sad is when he rubs your hands and legs wanting some love.  I gave him some water to drink and made sure he had food.  This morning he came up on the deck again.  Hopefully the sunshine will warm his spirit.

Etta Sue!  26* surelly does sound like a heat wave to many people right now.  Hi to Jerry!

Thinking of Beth!

Not many things are working well at this rental place - mainly the refrigerator stopped working last Wednesday but thankful that two neighbors gave me shelf space & freezer space.

It is mild weather here right now & into the high 60's and perhaps 70's this afternoon.

Carol

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is lunchtime and I have been working at my computer all morning and nothing to really show for the effort.  I decided it was time to stop in here and try to catch up.

Beth, I am so saddened to hear of the sudden loss of your father.  We are never ready for such sad news.  I pray that God will continue to comfort you and your family.  Janet, I also extend my condolences to you as know you also feel this loss.

Ruth Ann, you certainly had a blessed weekend.  Your posting was literally bubbling with joy.  Hope this will be a good week for you.

Joe, welcome to CP.

Etta Sue, watch out for a heat stroke today from those high temps.  :)  We are also very cold here in Georgia again this morning but it is nice and sunny.  It is now 30 degrees and hopefully it willl get above freezing this afternoon.

Carol, really frustrating when things you rent don't work.  Must be very inconvenient not having a refrigerator.  My folks used to go to Apache Junction, Arizona every winter and the first couple of years rented places.  Mother got so tired of having to clean up filty places and also finding what they had been promised would be a situation wasn't.  About the third winter there they bought their own place and didn't have to worry for the next 7 years before they sold it and didn't go back to Arizona again as Dad wasn't up to the trip anymore.

Tbear, it sounds like your parents are just about covered up with snow.  Glad you didn't get that much where you live.

Al, thanks for the fine devotional this morning.

Good day, folks!

I am off to aerobics class.

RogueSnapper

Hey, I needed to hear that this morning about being forgiven. Thanks!
I just woke up...it's 11 here! I remember waking up once and asking the kids to be quiet, then falling asleep again. I can't believe it's this late. WOW My body must be revolting against getting up so early every morning. Hrm. And I'm still tired. *yawn*

ya'll have made me hungry. :-)

I'm at work, and there are a lot of students here (well, a lot for me), but they are all working independently right now.

I have a lot of paperwork to get organized before I leave next week on maternity leave, so I had better go get that done, while I can.

Take care!!

Papa John

Today was a day of errands.  We went to have the car’s emission checked, something we have to do every year before we can get the new registration.   And we went to Ace Hardware, and to Krogers, and to Walgreens, and to get gasoline, etc.

I had fruit for lunch, an orange and two big plums.  Then I was ready for a nap.  I read for a while on my book.  Now I’m almost ready for another nap.

Karma, my brother lives in King's Mountain, NC.

I’ve been printing some pictures today and also have started on next month’s birthday cards.  Always something.

Gal 5:19-25
19   The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
20   idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
21   and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23   gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
24   Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
25   Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (NIV)

Jesus, I Am Resting, Resting[/u]
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Jean S. Piogott, 19th Century
Musician:  James Mountain, 1843-1933

Return unto thy rest, O my soul;
for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
Psalm 116:7

Author:  Jean S. Piogott, 19th Century
Musician:  James Mountain, 1843-1933

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

Refrain
Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Beloved
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Refrain

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Refrain

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting 'neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth's dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father's glory,
Sunshine of my Father's face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Refrain

Good evening all.

PJ -- I think you had told me that before.  King's Mountain is about 2 hours east of me.  it's a nice little place.  I had a couple of friends in college from there.

Stilll cold here, but warming up some.

Me thinks I will read a couple of more threads and then call it a night.

Have a good one, ya'll!
