Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

How Jesus Looks at Us
Matthew 7:13-29  NLT

13"You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose the easy way. 14But the gateway to life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it.

15"Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart. 16You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You don't pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles. 17A healthy tree produces good fruit, and an unhealthy tree produces bad fruit. 18A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. 19So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. 20Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit that is produced.

21"Not all people who sound religious are really godly. They may refer to me as `Lord,' but they still won't enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven. 22On judgment day many will tell me, `Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.' 23But I will reply, `I never knew you. Go away; the things you did were unauthorized.'

24"Anyone who listens to my teaching and obeys me is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse, because it is built on rock. 26But anyone who hears my teaching and ignores it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will fall with a mighty crash."

28After Jesus finished speaking, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29for he taught as one who had real authority--quite unlike the teachers of religious law.

What is your foundation in life?

Some sports fans can "talk" a great game, but that tells you nothing about their athletic skills.  And not everyone who talks about heaven belongs to God's kingdom.

Jesus is more concerned about our walk than our talk.  He wants us to do right, not just say the right words.

Your house (which represents your life, v. 25) will withstand the storms of life only if you do what is right instead of just talking about it.

What you do cannot be separated from what you believe.

It has been a sad day for West Virginia people.  I can't imagine how their emotions have been ripped apart.  So sad.

Ivalou is getting her bathroom re-done by her carpenter son.  New vanity top and faucets.  Surround put around her tub so she can stand up and take a shower instead of sitting or leaning over the edge of her tub.  Seems her husband fixed the shower so the water wouldn't come out of the shower head on the wall...only would come out of a hand held shower.  He didn't want the wall board he put around the tub to get wet and warp!  But son, Jeff, is putting in new plumbing and the surround.  She won't have an outside window afterwards but she has an exhaust already.  I know she will love standing and showering!  My knees ache when I think of her on her knees and leaning over the tub to wash her hair!!

Alma, what a precious pup!!  I hope all is going better today.

Having been to coal mining towns in WV several times, my heart aches for those poor people.  Not only does WV have laws limiting liability in such instances, this particular mine had over 200 violations/citations in 2005 alone.

I hope everyone is doing well.  I am tired, but I get to go to a Mary Kay retreat this weekend, and that should be really good.

I must apologize -- I am supposed to be doing Janet's NEM for Tuesdays, and I flat out forgot.  I am so sorry.  I will try to do better.

Adri

My thoughts and prayers are with the people and the families of the miners in WV.  In South Africa we have alot of the same type of thing happening quite often and it's very scary to think that those people have to suffer that kind of ordeal.  I think that it would be a good thing to pray for all miners that have to go underground to earn a living.

Alma...I hope that Lionel is doing o.k.  Please keep me posted.

When life beats you down...ask God to beat it right back.

Hi everyone,

I am awaiting the arrival of Comcast to see if they can find out why I am losing packets on my Internet reception.  I was offline for about 45 minutes yesterday and then it seemed to work all right.

My good friend, Rod, gave his presentation to the PC User Group in Las Vegas yesterday afternoon.  The Internet signal was so low in the conference room at the time of his presentation that he wasn't able to connect to either the man in Huntsville or to me.  I stood by for an hour and a half but it just wouldn't work.  However, overall he was satisfied wtih the presentation and the response he got.  They have asked him to become the area advisor for the national PC User Group and I hope he will accept.

I have Calvin Cove this afternoon but other than that my schedule is clear today.

Pat, I do enjoy listening to the hymns.  I don't always click on them but fairly often do and always enjoy listening to them.

Etta Sue, I am sure your sister will appreciate her new shower facility. Thanks for the devotional today.

Alma, sure hope your little dog is much better today.

Good to see everyone posting today.

Marilyn

Good Morning, Still haven't heard anything from Al, I will have to check on them again today when I get home from work.

We really feel for the miner's families, let's hope they know the God of all comfort.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is love, vast as the ocean
Loving kindness as a flood
When the prince of life our ransom
Shed for us His precious blood
Who His love will not remember
Who can cease to sing His praise
He can never be forgotten
Throughout heaven's eternal days

On the mount of crucifixion
Fountains opened deep and wide
Through the floodgates of God's mercy
Flowed a vast and gracious tide
Grace and love like mighty rivers
Flowed incessant from above
And heaven's peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love

That news is indeed sad.  I too am praying foe the families and the remaining survivor.

Alma I will also continue to pray for your precious pet.

WE have a very pregnant pup here, she is due on Monday.  She is having a difficult time with this pregnancy.  It will be her last, she will be fixed.  I will let you know Monday how she does.

Pat There are puppies like Geordie in Alberta, for sale.   They belong to the daughter of a friend.  Selling for $100, and about $50 to fly to hamilton airport.   WHat do you think?

Well I am off for today.

Pat

He Lifted Me
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Charles H. Gabriel

"For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.  But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:3-5

In loving kindness Jesus came,
My soul in mercy to reclaim,
And from the depths of sin and shame
Thro' grace He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

He called me long before I heard,
Before my sinful heart was stirred,
But when I took Him at His Word,
Forgiv'n He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

His brow was pierced with many a thorn,
His hands by cruel nails were torn,
When from my guilt and grief forlorn,
In love He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

~* HE LIFTED ME *~
Words & Music by Charles H. Gabriel, 1856-1932

I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established by goings.
And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Psalm 40:1-3

O the love that sought me!
O the blood that bought me!
O the grace that brought me to the fold!
Wondrous grace that brought me to the fold!
~W. Spencer Walton~

Occasionally it is good for each of us as Christians to reflect seriously on a question such as this: "Where would I be today if God had not transformed my life, established my ways, and given me a life of joy and praise?" With all of the allurements of sin so rampant in today's society, we must readily confess that except for the love and grace of God, we too could find ourselves with broken and shameful lives. But we have been accepted into the beloved and made children of the heavenly Father! Through the redemptive work of Christ, we have been given a new and higher "plane" on which to live. With the author and composer Charles Gabriel we can only exclaim, "O praise His name, He lifted me!" Such divine love on our behalf calls forth a response of thankful gratitude and a sincere desire to see other needy individuals share this redemptive experience.

Charles H. Gabriel was one of the best known and most prolific gospel songwriters of the late 19th and early 20th century eras. His fame as a successful composer became widely known, especially with the use of his songs by Homer Rodeheaver in the large Billy Sunday evangelistic campaigns. "He Lifted Me" first appeared in the collection Revival Hymns, published in 1905.

It's so refreshing coming in here every day to read your posts.  Right now I have the music playing in the background from that link I gave you from my friend in England.

Alma, please keep us posted on your little dog.

I don't know what to say about the dog, Judy.  I'm sure tempted.  I'd love for someone to see it though first as Geordie was hand picked as you know.

When I woke up this morning it was snowing again and kept on until about 11:00.  Meanwhile, the trailer park maintenance was working on the water lines and we had no water for about 4 hours.  So, of course, nobody was doing anything about plowing our roads.   :(

The water is back on and they've done a "lick and a promise" to the roads.  Seems like every winter there's a problem with the water.  I suspect the pipes are too close to the surface in some spots and then of course they freeze.  So now we're under a "boil water" warning for goodness knows how long.  It took abour 1/2 hour of running the faucets before the water was finally clear.

I was very glad that I've got into the habit of putting my coffee together before I go to bed and only have to turn it on when I get up.  At least I had my coffee this morning!  (You don't want to be around me before I have a couple of cups.   :coffee: )  And now I have three buckets filled with water just in case, plus a big pot on the stove cooling after having boiled it.

And another bright spot - I heard a noise on the front porch and there was one of my wonderful neighbors cleaning it off, then he did the back porch and finished up with his snow blower on the driveway.  He even cleared a path to my propane tanks.  There are advantages to being old.   ^-^

Oh, Jeanne.  What a great post to read--at least the part about your neighbour cleaning off your walk, etc.  That's so nice.  But not having water isn't.  :ticked:  Glad you have enough now though saved up.

Yeah, Pat.  I'm a Girl Scout from way back - I believe in being prepared.  Too bad I forgot that before, though.  But once burned, twice shy, as the saying goes.

Hi nice people.  I have my grandson tonight.  We just finished playing "I Spy" and watching a cartoon.  He's playing with the dogs now, so I took a break.

We had sunshine today, and it seemed pretty warm to me.  I went out and actually noticed some work I could do, but didn't do it. haha   Rocko and Ty really enjoyed being out today.

Kaleb is here at my side, wanting me to hurry, so will say goodnight.  nita

Pat

I'm so sorry that Al Moak is without power for so long.  this is just awful.

Nita, enjoy that little grandson.  They are so precious.

Just listening to CNN and the news of the miners and the note that was left by one of the ones who perished.  Amazing to hear.

So sad.
