Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that ye have seen.
Genesis 45:13

Joseph could have commanded his brethren to tell Jacob the terrible tale of their deceit and the ill-treatment he had received at their hand.

But his brothers were not sent to tell Jacob about themselves and their sins. They were to glorify Joseph.

So it is with us. When we come to worship, let's get beyond our sins and our failures, and tell the Father of the Glory of His beloved Son.

Only by giving back to Him the One who is dearest to Him will we completely satisfy His heart.
-W. H. Burnett

Come let us sing the matchless worth,
And sweetly sound the glories forth,
Which in the Saviour shine.

Friends:  Please add me to your prayer list...if you can. I'm in an arthritic flare-up. The pain in my shoulders as well as the broken arm,is unrelentless tonight....so thats why I'm up so late.

Perhaps reading the posts in various forums will take my mind off myself for awhile.

Many thanks....
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Berean

Thanks for all the welcomes yesterday. I am not sure I have the posting pitures right yet, but have added to castle pictyres for your viewing pleasure ;).

"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Bob is okay

Judy, I will be saying prayers for you. I won't be on for a while tomorrow, I need to take Yvonne to Phoenix. She has a flight out of Sky Harbor, to Erie Pa.

Iain

Dear Judy,

While praying for you I came across something that I had written when I myself was in a great deal of discomfort and pain. It combines a little of what Pat mentions in her lovely devotional and perhaps even a little tonic for yourself and anyone else who may be going through hard times.

'As I was with Moses, so I will be with thee'

Is there any sweeter word today for the child of God than the text written above. It should empower us with courage and a greater conviction to make a stand for our God. It should help us to show our fellow man that we are different. We are a peculiar people chosen by God.

We may be facing distressing times. There may be great mountains ahead of us causing a great deal of anxiety or perhaps deep waters as we face an empty chair where once our loved one sat. Perhaps we are overcome with great loneliness, thinking that nobody cares about us. Perhaps our health is not what it once was and we fear a time in hospital or perhaps you are bracing yourself for the results of a scan or other such tests.

There are times when obstacles lie in our path. We build them up into mountains. We become discouraged, depressed and frightened. We would do anything rather than having to face it. If we could walk around it we would. If there was an easy path then we would gladly take it. ‘Hills at the presence of the Lord like wax doth melt away.’ Fear not my friend the Lord has a sure word for your trembling knees this day. ‘As I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.’

I was truly challenged by this question today:- ‘Do we wish more for His glory than we do for our own deliverance?’ This I have to confess left me speechless!

The child of God is not immune to pain, suffering or trial yet through all these things our Lord is with us each step of the way. Facing difficulties in our own strength will wear us out, however with Christ we can do all things.

Listen to what God is saying to your soul today, 'as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.' Can there be any greater comfort?

LOL

Your brother in Christ

Welcome, Berean, to CP!

Ruth Ann Bice

Wonderful devotional and excellent comments.

Judy, as I sat at my computer yesterday I prayed for you. I feel sometimes the Spirit Himself prompts us to pray for those who need our prayers.

Y'all have a good day.

Good Morning
Chilly morning here today.  We are expecting a storm later tonight.  Calling for snow first followed by freezing rain so that should make the walk to school tomorrow a very slippery one.  Judy I am sorry to hear that you are in so much discomfort right now and I definately will be praying for you.
Well that's all for now, I am going to try and get some housework done before picking up my kindergarden kids. I will check in again later!
Have a great day Everyone
Carrie

Marilyn

I have prayed for everyone  here who is suffering with pain today.

I am reminded of Exodus 15:26 " If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, Obeying is commands and laws then I will not make you suffer the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who healeth thee."

I am not saying that those in pain have not been obedient please do not take this wrong. I am just saying the He is the God who Healeth thee.

Stand strong and be of good courage for He is the God who Healeth thee. We are praying for you.

Good Morning Everyone!

I've been to the hairdresser or "hair bender" and now I'm home!  I had such a terrible night of sleeplessness so I might even have a nap this afternoon.

It's so nice to read your posts.

Carrie, I had missed yours but now I've read it.  I sure wouldn't get involved with trying to reply to these people except to mention a scripture verse every so often if they are proving to be just argumentative.  I don't believe that we should spend time just arguing with folks who want to do just that but we can surely pray for them that the Lord will open their eyes.  I will pray for you in this situation.

That portion of your little devotional thought today, Iain sure meant something to me.  Phil. 4:13 is one of my favourite verses and how I should claim it as a promise more often.

Thanks for that sweet graphic, Suzanne to Berean.  How cute it is.  I hope that maybe you'll do a little tutorial in our Paint Shop Pro area and show us how to make these.

I've been enjoying that font link, Marilyn.  It's certainly a great resourse for us who spend time making graphics.

So, TBear, are you getting the big storm?  We've all been prepared that one is coming and then I heard on the radio that they aren't sure of how far north the big part is going to land so we might be spared.

Ruth Ann, thanks for your prayers on behalf of those who really need a special little time with our Saviour.  I so appreciate hearing from you.

Hi Bob...  You'll be missed.  Is it far to the airport where you must go?  She's going to be sort of close to some of  us.  Erie, PA is just across Lake Erie from us as the crow flies.

Great to see you here, Berean and thanks so much for bringing back so many happy memories for me when I saw your Carrickfergus Castle photo!  Oh, the times I rode my bike to Carrick to do my shopping from Greenisland!  I rode right past the castle on each trip.  There was a fantastic little bakery too in Carrick just near the railway station that sold the most awesome Soda Bread and Wheaten Bread and Potato Farls and...  Ohhh, I better stop!

I hope you're experiencing less pain, Judy McKenna today.

Whew!  I have been awake since 1 a.m. this morning for a couple of reasons.  One being that we are expecting an ice storm and today was trash day.  I walked the trash to the road at 4:30 a.m.  But I gave up at 3 a.m. and got up.  Yesterday I couldn't get back online because it kept saying the user name and password was invalid.  Same thing at 3 a.m.  So I called my IPS.  Seems I have a trojan virus and it messed up my ISP connection.  (May have gotten downloading fonts.)He fixed it so I could get online and gave me 3 websites to find and fix the virus.  No virus' detected.  So I tried updating Norton.  It wouldn't let me because it said I needed to renew or upgrade...expires 1/21/05.  So I decided to upgrade.  Couldn't because I needed a subscription number.  So I called them.  They said I needed to be online.  I can't be online and on the phone at the same time.  Told him about not being able to upgrade so he transferred me to a tech.  After waiting 15 minutes, I hung up.  I got my upgrade okay.  It is finally installed but it has been updating 10 items for about 2 hours now.  Now if Norton finds this trojan....I KNOW they planted it in my pc!!!!  Ever since I have been having the pop up to renew or upgrade, my pc has been weird!   I think they have done something to slow my pc down so I would renew/upgrade Norton!!!!  If someone knows you have a virus, I guess someone else could put the virus in your pc.

Marilyn, I have all my fonts in C:\WINDOWS\Fonts.  Over 1,000 of them.  Now I am indexing them with WORD.  What does 'The Font Thing' do?

I just looked outside and we have water, water everywhere and it is beginning to freeze on the trees.  So I had better post and try to get off of here.  Not bad in my basement yet.

Oh, that we might continually Praise the Lord...

When Morning Gilds the Skies
(Click to hear music)

May the Name of the Lord be praised.
Job 1:21

Words: translated from German to English by Edward Caswall
Music: Laudes Domini, Joseph Barnby, in Hymns Ancient and Modern (London: 1868)

When morning gilds the skies my heart awaking cries:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Alike at work and prayer, to Jesus I repair:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

When you begin the day, O never fail to say,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
And at your work rejoice, to sing with heart and voice,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Whene'er the sweet church bell peals over hill and dell,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
O hark to what it sings, as joyously it rings,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

My tongue shall never tire of chanting with the choir,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
This song of sacred joy, it never seems to cloy,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Does sadness fill my mind? A solace here I find,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Or fades my earthly bliss? My comfort still is this,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

To God, the Word, on high, the host of angels cry,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let mortals, too, upraise their voice in hymns of praise,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Be this at meals your grace, in every time and place;
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this, when day is past, of all your thoughts the last
May Jesus Christ be praised!

When mirth for music longs, this is my song of songs:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When evening shadows fall, this rings my curfew call,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

When sleep her balm denies, my silent spirit sighs,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When evil thoughts molest, with this I shield my breast,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

The night becomes as day when from the heart we say:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
The powers of darkness fear when this sweet chant they hear:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

No lovelier antiphon in all high heav?n is known
Than, Jesus Christ be praised!
There to the eternal Word the eternal psalm is heard:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Let all the earth around ring joyous with the sound:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
In heaven?s eternal bliss the loveliest strain is this:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Sing, suns and stars of space, sing, ye that see His face,
Sing, Jesus Christ be praised!
God?s whole creation o?er, for aye and evermore
Shall Jesus Christ be praised!

In heaven's eternal bliss the loveliest strain is this,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let earth, and sea and sky from depth to height reply,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Be this, while life is mine, my canticle divine:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Sing this eternal song through all the ages long:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Etta Sue, I sure wouldn't put all the fonts in your Windows folder.  You might not want to have them pop up each time you are looking for a font.  I have over 600 in a folder on my C drive  (C:Download/Fonts) and when I open The Font Thing, it will find all the fonts on my computer wherever they may be and let's say you want to make a card for someone and you want to see what their name will look like.  You type their name and then you'll see what that will look like in all of the fonts.  It's a terrific little thing to have.  I've used it since I worked for About.com many years ago.

What a night you had!  I'm sorry that you had this trouble.  I also had a sleepless night.  We should have got together.  LOL

I couldn't sleep last night, finally got up and read until 3:30.  We got a little snow; looks like about 2 inches, over the ice.  So I will have to drive VERY carefully when I go out later.  I'd rather just snuggle in for the whole day!

Hello to all of you, and a big WELCOME to Berean.  Glad to have you with us!

Sarah, I was just wondering if they are having school here and in Hugoton, as I haven't heard yet.  Stay in and stay warm!  :-*

Yes, it seems we could have had quite a party all right.  I just talked to Beth, and she was awake most of the night, too.  Maybe it was just one of those nights.

I have some framing to work on today, maybe that will take my mind off things I don't need to be thinking.  I am trying to rest in God and not allow fear to influence me.

Judy, go back to the Thailand Photos.  I think I inadvertantly deleted some from my home page while making room for the next 100. :-[ ;D  I have fixed it now, and the pictures are back.

OK Tom

Amen Brother Iain! I really enjoyed your message.

Sister Judy, I will add you to my prayer list and hope you get to feeling better soon.

Brothers and Sisters, I sincerely appreciate your prayers for me. I am doing better and give thanks. There is something special that I want to share with you that I'm learning. Times of trial and illness can lead us closer to our precious Lord and Saviour. His Grace is more than sufficient for us, and He wants to walk with us every step of the way. Our joy in Christ can only be more full when we yield to His Will and ask Him to be our LORD over everything we say and do. The more we yield - the more precious HE becomes to us and through us.

The Love of JESUS is beyond human description.

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour Forever!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Psalms 21:13  Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

Thanks Tom!  This seems to go along with what you were saying about the Love of our Lord...

The Love of God
(Click to hear music)

The Love of God is greater far
than tongue or pen could ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
and reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His son to win
His erring child He reconciled
and pardoned from his sin.

Chorus
Oh, Love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
the saints' and angels' song.

Could we with ink the oceans fill
and were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on Earth a quill
and every man a scribe by trade:
To write the Love of God above
would drain the oceans dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
tho stretched from sky to sky.

Chorus

When worlds of time shall pass away
and Earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray
on rocks and hills and mountains call,
God's Love so sure shall still endure
all measureless and strong,
Redeeming grace to Adam's race
the saints' and angels' song.

OK Tom

Sister Pat,

Thank you! I love these beautiful old hymns, and I think that it is especially nice to see and reflect on the  lyrics while enjoying the music. Sister Pat, I can't tell you how much I enjoy the music you post. I'm sending you a big Oklahoma hug.

By the way, I see that the weather is a big topic for you folks in the North. Well, let me tell you that Oklahoma is also covered with a solid sheet of ice that is getting thicker by the minute. It's raining here right now, and it freezes almost immediately. It's pretty, but it sure is hard to get around. I'm sure that our winter weather conditions are mild compared to what you have, but I did want to let everyone know that even Oklahoma gets put in a deep freeze every now and then.   :D

Love In Christ,
Tom

Psalms 18:28  For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

Well, I just woke up from a good afternoon nap.  Cornelia and I went out this morning and did our big grocery shopping for the month.  Kroger here gives an extra 10% discount to seniors on the first Wednesday of every month and we take advantage of it.

It is good to see each one of you today.  May God bless those who are suffering pain and from whatever problems.  I'm sure we are thankful for the help we get each day from the Lord.

One of our Wednesday night Bible classes has a guest speaker every  week and they asked me to talk tonight so it is a good time to talk about beginnings.  Here are some of the verses I plan to use.

Gen 1:1  In the beginning[/u] God created the heavens and the earth.  (NIV)

Prov 9:9-12
9   Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.
10   "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom[/u] , and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11   For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
12   If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer."  (NIV)

John 1:1-5
1   In the beginning was the Word[/u] , and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2   He was with God in the beginning.
3   Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
4   In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
5   The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.  (NIV)

2 Tim 1:9-10
9 (God) who has saved us and called us to a holy life-- not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,[/u]
10   but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. (NIV)

--- Papa John          <;D)))><<
[/color]
Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

January 5

Personal Life: Let God Alone

But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and
complete, lacking nothing.
--James 1:4

God is saying, "I stand ready to pour a little liquid fire into your
heart, into your spiritual being!"

We respond: "No, Lord, please excuse me. That sounds like
fanaticism--and I would have to give up some things!" So we refuse
His desire, even though we want all the benefits of His cross.

There is this thoughtful phrase in The Cloud of Unknowing: "He
wills thou do but look on Him and let Him alone." Let God alone.
In other words, let Him work! Don't stop Him. Don't prevent Him
from kindling your heart, from blessing you and leading you out of
a common state into that of special longing after Him. You don't
have to coax God. He is not like a reluctant father waiting for
his child to beg. The blessings are His to give and He waits for
us to let Him work....

"Look on Him and let Him work, let Him alone." Get your hands down
to your side and stop trying to tell God where to cut. Stop trying
to make the diagnosis for God. Stop trying to tell God what to
give you. He is the Physician! You are the patient....

Let Him work and your spiritual life will begin to blaze like the
rising sun.  I Talk Back to the Devil, 63-64.

"Lord, I know there is a work You want to do in my life today.
I'll try to stay out of the way, take my hands off, and let You
work! I'll put my hands to my side even now as a sign that I'm
going to let You alone today to do Your work in me. Amen."

Hi everyone.  I just about wore myself out this morning and am sure feeling it this afternoon.  I went to the "Y" after coffee and did my walking, then stopped at two grocery stores and the hardware store.  By the time I got home I was beat and even though I had a nap this afternoon I still am very tired.  Unfortunately this is choir night and I don't want to miss so will try to go.

Judy, sure sorry to read of the arthritis attack on top of your other aches.

I hope those of you who didn't sleep well last night will be able to sleep better tonight.

It sounds like icing is quite a problem in various parts of the country.  Don't want to rub it in but we are in the 60s today and other than some rain in the next couple of days are temps are to stay very nice.

karmat

Hi!  My shift at work just ended, so I am getting ready to go out the door.  :-)

Sorry to hear about ya'lls bad weather.  We had a record high today.  it was like 50 something outside.

I gotta go.  we still have supper to do before church.

Take care

Karmat

PS -- I am up most nights too!  Actually, I am just lying in bed awake, but I guess that counts!
