JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

The kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself.
Ruth 4:6

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.
1 Peter 1:4

The kinsman-redeemer who held the first right to purchase Ruth, the Moabitess, felt he would diminish his own inheritance if he did so.  Should Ruth bare him children, they would greatly reduce the man's inheritance to his present family.

Believers in the family of our Kinsman-Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, have no such concern.

Our inheritance is reserved in heaven for us.

Let's enjoy that precious thought today.
--Arnot McIntee

I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long,
I sing for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.

I receive emails from Daily encounter and it had the following encouragement today:

SCARY LEAP OF FAITH

"The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the
everlasting arms" (Deuteronomy 33:27, NIV).

Brennan Manning, in his book, The Ragamuffin Gospel, tells
about a child caught on the second floor of his house when
it was on fire. The family members were all running out of
the house when the smallest boy panicked and ran back
upstairs.

Terrified, he screamed from a smoke-filled window. Below
his father could see him and cried out, "Jump, Son, jump!
I'll catch you."

"But I can't see you," the boy cried.

"I know," the father called, "but I can see you."

Many a time when we are in difficult situations and panic
on the inside, if not on the outside, we long for God to
help us. Not being able to see him or sense his presence,
we don't know what to do. However, let us always remember
that God is there regardless of our sight or our feelings,
and he can see and hear us. When we call on him for help
and choose to put our trust in him, he hears our prayer no
matter how feeble it is, and will help us. Underneath are
his everlasting arms and he "is our refuge and strength, a
very present help in trouble."1

And that may be all we need to know.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me to trust you
when darkness surrounds me and I am lost and do not know
the way. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer.
Gratefully, in Jesus' name. Amen."

Thank you, PAT!   ;)

GARETH~This is just confirmation for me.  I have heard of, and been reading of, other similar incidents that called for implicit trust and faith in an unfailing Father.  Day of Discovery has a video titled "Treasures in the Darkness" that addresses the same subject.

Thank you for the reminder that, though we can't see our way, HE has His eye on us and sees all things clearly.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

It was nice to be able to read the encouragements this morning.  There can be no better way to start the day than to share fellowship with other believers.

It is good to remember that salvation is not just for this life.  Our inheritance will never fade or diminish like our possessions in this life.  Thank you Pat for reminding us of that.

I also liked the thoughts from Gareth and Jane.  It is good to know that as Christians we may fall, but we never fall so low that we become out of reach of the 'everlasting arms'.  What a wonderful thought to carry through the day.

Thank you to all those people who welcomed me back and for your concerns about my mother.

Papa John, what a joy it is to see you posting again and sounding so much better than the last time I came on to the forum.  God is so good.

Have a good day everyone.

Anthony.

BTW, Trish gets married today.  Have we got a cake or something that we could celebrate with?
"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things."
(Romans 8: 32)

2 CHRONICLES 7 : 14 NIV
If My people, who are called by My name,
will humble themselves and pray and seek
My face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin
and will heal their land.

While this is a passage often emphasized
when talking about the problems with nations
and governments, let's remember that the
truest application of this must find its
home in us and in our churches.
We can begin revival in our land if we
will commit to daily prayer,
weekly fasting, and hearts yearning for God
to enter our world and transform it.

Prayer...
O God, Father of all
nations and peoples,
please enter into our world
with clear signs of Your
power and grace.
Call the lost to you through us.
Use us to be firstfruits
of renewal and restoration.
In Jesus name.  AMEN.

We are back from camping in hot and windy weather not too far from here.  Really, it had electricity and water so it is not camping like yesteryears.

We saw a abandoned baby Bison and he was so agitated - they were going to bottle-feed this baby and perhaps that might bring comfort.  It is good to know that we have comfort from the Lord in everything and we only need to put our Trust in Him for peace of mind.

This is from my devotional Days of Praise.

July 14 - YOUTHFUL WARRIORS

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (I Timothy 4:12).

Many has been the time when a Christian soldier on foreign soil has considered himself a missionary, not only to his fellow soldiers, but also to the citizens of that country which might otherwise be closed to "professional" missionaries. These young men and women have led Bible studies, dispersed Christian literature, and served the surrounding people in many ways. "Whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water . . . he shall in no wise lose his reward" (Matthew 10:42).

Paul's admonition to young Timothy applies to anyone seeking to gain acceptance among hesitant observers, but especially to those with whom it is difficult to talk. Note the "exemplary" traits and habits necessary for such a one.

In word: "Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt" (Colossians 4:6).

In conversation, or better, conduct: "Abstain from all appearance of evil" (I Thessalonians 5:22).

In charity, or true agape love, God's kind of love: "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you" (John 15:12).

In spirit: "Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit" (I John 4:13).

In faith: "Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone" (James 2:17).

In purity: "Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands . . . and purify your hearts" (James 4:8.

If we exhibit spiritual maturity in all these ways, we can be certain God will grant a fulfilling walk with and a fruitful ministry for Him. JDM

Small groups was wonderful.  It is great to have a small group in which we can discuss the Bible, God, the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  Our small group has grown to be a family affair.  Also the house we went to last night is one of the finest homes around.  They got water into their new pool.....30' x' 50'...that's larger than my home!!!!  But to see Scott and Diane out, you would never know they are wealthy.  Scott is the one that when our church needed additional parking space after 'The 40 Days of Purpose' last year, he bulldozed the land on the other side of the church and had stone put down...all donated to the church.

Today Ivalou is getting a new garage door installed.  Then this afternoon, she is getting her hair cut/permed/styled.  The little girls, Kara 11, and Lydia 5, doesn't want to sit that long at a beauty parlor so I am taking them to Noblesville to Forrest Park to play.  This is a park that Ivalou, Kaye Don and I played in as children.  It is almost 75 years old...the newspaper yesterday had a big article on Forrest Park.  Then I am taking the girls for ice cream downtown.  Alexanders is an old-fashioned Ice Cream parlor.  Too many flavors to choose from, though.

That's my day!!!

I am sitting her trying to get my second wind.  We went to work again on those trees at 7 this morning and worked until 10.  It is so hot and that is such hard work, we can't stand to work on it longer than that.

This afternoon we will go to Hugoton for Abby's birthday.  She already called and said she wants us to come "right now!"  But we will wait until after lunch.

Today is Trisha's big day!  Her colors are teal and black and white.

Karma, what time does the cyber-shower start?

I am too tired to think straight, so will talk to you later!

Hi Trish,

The best of everything to you and you about to be hubby.

Wow, a whole afternoon to sit around and "think".

I am glad my wedding was in the morning--just got up;
got ready and off I went.

I still was about a half hour late; which caused my hubby-to-be
a little bit more nervous than usual.

Was his dad's fault; he kept taking pictures after pictures and
I , of course, had made up my mind earlier not to look at the
clock--

Don't look at clock or you will get nervous.

So how is that shower going?

Take care and as always to all,

Love in Christ,
Joyce

The Church: The Power of Church Finances

..but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by
the law as transgressors.
--James 2:9

It is an ominous thing in any church when the treasurer begins to
exercise power. Since he may be presumed to be a man of God he
should have a place equal to that of any other member, and if he is
a man of gifts and virtues he will naturally have certain influences
among the brethren. This is right and normal as long as he exercises
his influences as a man of God and not as a treasurer. The moment he
becomes important because he is treasurer, the Spirit will be
grieved and His manifestations will begin to diminish....

Again, it is a sign and a portent when a member is cultivated for
his generosity and given a place of eminence in the church out of
proportion to his spiritual gifts and graces. To court a Christian
for his financial contributions is as evil a thing as to marry a man
for his money. To flatter a man for any reason whatever is to degrade
ourselves and imperil his soul. To flatter a man because he is a
heavy giver is to offer him a concealed affront as well, for back of
the purring and the smirking is the hidden opinion that the man's
money is more important than the man and more to be esteemed.  The
Warfare of the Spirit, 7,8.

"Lord, we have to have a treasury and a treasurer. But deliver us
from the dominance of the dollar. You meet our needs, Lord, and then
help us to minister faithfully, with no thought of how the finances
might be affected. Amen."

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, "Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."

Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know."

"You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"

The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side of which came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.

Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing...I know my Master is there and that is enough."

Al Moak

That's a really good, encouraging thought Ladybug.  Oh that we might focus more intently upon Him while we are on this side of that door.

Hep me.  Hep me.  I am trying to create a "background" in Paint Shop Pro 7.  It needs to be black at the top and fade to blue at the bottom.  I can get it, mostly, but it has bands in it.  I really don't want gradients, I would rather just have black and blue, kinda blended in the middle.  Does that make sense?  Pat, Etta, can you hep me? pweese?

Ruthie

Thank you Pat for that great devotional.  I love the book of Ruth with the story of Ruth and Boaz who was her kinsman-redeemer.   This is a picture of our wonderful Lord Jesus who is our Kinsman-Redeemer.  Love the little chorus underneath by Fanny Crosby.

Thank you Gareth for your devotional on trusting Christ in everything.  It is good to know that He can see ahead and around the corner when we cannot.

Rachelle, sorry for your computer problems.  I know what that is like.  Now you are back, you can post more.  That will be great.  Will continue to pray for Shawnee.

Hi Ria...you have given some interesting posts.   Thank you.  Our weather is cool for July.

God Bless

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This has been a really full day for me.  Got up at 6 am and left for the "Y" at 6:30, then had coffee for 45 minutes and then went to where I have been working this week at 9 am.  We worked until 5 pm and I came home for a quick bite of supper and then went back to help finish up the job and worked until 8:30 pm.  So needless to say I am tired but the work has been completed in time to be mailed tomorrow as the election is next Tuesday.  The man who owns the company seemed to be very pleased and told me he would be calling me again.  So I am hopeful that occasionally I can do some work for him.  We stuffed a lot of envelopes during the last two and one half days, somewhere in the range of 30,000.

I have read the postings left from yesterday and those today.  Tomorrow should be less hectic and I should have more time and energy for posting.  I guess the big wedding is probably over by this time.

Janet

We just got home from Abby's birthday party.  She had about seven little girl friends and one boy!  He was outnumbered, for sure, but held his own quite well!  ;D

I am tired and scratched up from the trees.  I hope we don't work on them in the morning, but if Darrel wants to, we will.

I want to go add my blessing for Trisha and Jacob, so will see you all tomorrow.

Karma, not sure what you mean by not wanting a gradient.

Wouldn't a gradient be exactly what you want?

I see that you are "on" right now.  I have been away and do hope that your car is fixed and everything O.K.

Liz

Thanks for the devotional Pat.

This was the day for Wendy's Physio. and we go to Farmer's Market.  I made a quick dinner for them as she was in pain and hadn't slept much last night.  While we were eating, the Robins outside were making terrible cries of distress and flying around madly.  We rushed out into the garden and saw that a squirrel has caught a Robin and the others were attacking and trying to rescue it.  Never knew that squirrels did this...also they will eat small animals, like baby bunnies!  Not nice!! >:(

Ria, Squeekers gets along fine with my canary.  I squirted her a few times with a spray water bottle, saying 'NO' in a loud voice and now she ignores Michael.  He is once again brave enough to sing and seems to feel safe.  Lived in fear the first few weeks....

Have only now finished updating four critical Windows Updates to my computer.  Took ages to process.  The internet seems awfully slow right now.

Tomorrow I must go to the doctor.  So will have to go back into the 'little' city again.  Looked a lot like rain today, but no such luck.  I am hoping for rain when the kids go to Alberta as there is so much garden to water!!!  That and doing deer patrol.  Oh My :(

Things to do, so will wish all Pleasant Dreams and God Bless.

Time to lock the door.

Don't forget to leave Trisha and Jacob some special "gifts" in their special topic.  Click on the link in the News Lines above.

Maybe you have a special scripture verse that will help them as they enter their married life together.

Leave several messages.  You don't have to keep it to just one.
