Morning Devotional...

Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee.                                  Psalm 50:15

The three-day seminar had concluded and the leader distributed her business card as she said, "I'm giving you this because I want you to call me any time if you need my help in applying the principles we have studied--even if it's a cry in the middle of the night."

As well-meaning as her offer was, I'm sure there would be times when she simply could not meet some people's needs and might even require her own needs to be met.

In contrast, God's people have the assurance He hears their cry and promises deliverance day or night.

What a God!

--Arnot P. McIntee

Then boldly let our faith address
the throne of grace and power:
We shall obtain delivering grace
in every needy hour.

--Isaac Watts

Hey everyone. :D

I'm still at school :(, but only two two terms left and it's all over!  :) Next year I'm aiming to do photography at Uni, and I plan to make a career out of it, but I'm not sure what field I'll go into yet - plenty of time to decide on that!

At school we only so b&w, so I do colour out of school. The school curriculum is all in 35mm film so I've got an Yashica SLR  for that. It's too hard to build a system on in New Zealand - because of basically no stock (parts, lenses, bodies) in the whole counrty! - so I think I'll move onto a Nikon digital in the near future.
I've recently started using my Uncle's Canon Powershot A20 and he's also got an A40. Both are compact point and shoot (and try not to have to hope!) cameras, so I'm not that keen on them, because you just can't do everything I want to do (although the A40 is getting pretty close to my requirements).

I take photos of practically anything, from close-ups of flowers to landscape (actually those are about all I do  ;), but I'll try anything!).

I tried to start a new topic to put some of my work on here but it wouldn't work (said I hadn't logged in or something).
I've already got a lot of my colour work online at www.photoisland.com, login as 'timsphotos', password 'timsphotos'. Go have a look!

Seeya later,
Tim.

Hi Tim!

Are you in New Zealand?  Wow!  You're our first!

Does the site where you have your photos allow linking?

If you go to the Photographs Here area, just click on "New Topic" and then put the URL of the photo between [ img ] (without the spaces) and [ /img ]

Make sure that your photo is 35K or under and no larger than 500 pixels on it's longest side.

It's great to see you here!

Wonderful devotional! (I peeked early- now when I wake up late because I'm going to bed so late, I won't feel like I missed it!) How often do we mean well in something we do or say only to discover that we were trying to do God's job? I love the ways He has of reminding us Who's really in charge....

WELCOME TIM! I visited your website and checked out your photos. They are wonderful!!
You have a lot of potential and I wish you all the best with your future in photography.
To all who visit here today, I wish you God's favor as you go through your day. Whatever is happening in your life at this moment in time has a purpose in God's economy. Ask Him to give you spiritual eyes to see with.
I guarantee that you will find Him in the center everywhere you look.
Blessings to all and to all a goodnight!

Hey.
I haven't got a decent photo editing program like photoshop on my computer - is there a site I can go to to compress my photos?

Tim

No idea is this'll work but here goes. I took this earlier this month on a Canon Powershot A20.
Sweet, it works.  :)

Here's another one of my favourites. Next I'm gonna put a photo onto the scriptural board.

'The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me.'

Psalm 138:8

There is no more difficult life to lead than the Christian life. It is a daily battle and often the warriors struggle through deep mire even as the enemy advances towards them.

How often is it the case that we would speak a word to those who accompany us on the way, yet silence prevails. This concerns us and makes us to wonder whether we are truly soldiers in the King's army or not.

There are other times when we should go forward and we wallow in the mire of unbelief and fear and depression. Entrenched by our own deceitful hearts and minds.

Our Commanding Officer has told us - ' The battle is not ours but God's.' We on the other hand listen to whispers from Hell itself and we are paralysed with doubts.

There are other times when we are to remain diligent and on guard at a specified post and position. It is not long before we find ourselves wearied with the monotony of the task. We long to be free to serve on the front line and often we murmur against our calling. I hold my hands up here!

Surely He knows what is best for us. All the equipment for our welfare and survival has been given us. Training is on-going and we have the sure knowledge that our enemy will be defeated! What more could a soldier wish for?

Perhaps we seek advancement and a higher ranking. If so, let us learn to be servants first! Our Commanding Officer washed the feet of His Foot Soldiers prior to battle.

We must hold a grudge against no man. We are not to allow the sun to go down upon our wrath. We are not to question the commands from on High. Rather we are to be found following them to the letter! Do we think that we have a better view of the battle than our Commander? Do we think that we could do a better job if we were placed elsewhere?

Suffer it be so now. He knoweth the way that you take.

Marching or standing guard for endless hours each day can be a very difficult and trying task. This to me is the hardest task of all. Standing still awaiting orders.
It requires concentration and diligence, watchfulness and awareness. Always looking out for the unseen attack of the enemy.

Our enemy is cunning and he is also persistent. He often lulls us into a false sense of security before attacking when we least expect it.

The daily monotony makes us drop our guard. We give up on our prayers ever being answered. We often feel abandoned. There is also a tinge of jealousy and envy as we realise that others are going forward and we seem to be treading water. This preparation however is vital.

We may find these endless days to be heavy upon our souls. We neither see or are aware of any reason why we are kept in such straits. We see no advancement in our training, no real benefit in staying as we are, and so we tend to get restless in spirit seeking that which is not ours to have.

Perhaps we have been given an order and we have not obeyed it! Perhaps we feel that we must take things into our own hands and work our way forward towards the front.

It will not be long before we find ourselves exhausted and pained for our stupidity. Everything seems to go against us and instead of making headway we find that in reality we have retreated!

Time to make amends with our Commanding Officer and beg his forgiveness for our folly.

The longer we serve in the ranks the readily we will yield to orders. We will have learned through difficult experiences that we cannot fight against our circumstances. We will find that we are happiest when we know that we are exactly where we are meant to be. We will be diligent in all the tasks given to us in whatever field is chosen for us.

No matter what our position may be, the victory is assured. The battle has an end. The victors will celebrate for all eternity. This army is by far the greatest in the world. The greatest honour any man can have on this earth is to serve in the King's Regiment.

It is noted above all others by the love and unity among it's ranks. Praise flows from their lips as they march and songs are heard in the night.

Fear should have no place in our hearts as we should have great confidence in our God. He is on our side, who then can be against us? The battle will be won, not by might, nor by power but by His spirit. Let us learn to lean heavily upon our Leader. He knows the way that we take and He will perfect that which concerns us.

Let us fight the good fight of faith. Let us acknowledge the Lord in all our ways and He shall direct our paths. Let us follow the banner of holiness without which no man shall see God. Let us esteem others better than ourselves and let us always be prepared to go forward whenever the command is given.

LOL

Good, Good Morning to all!  :)  Even though it is cloudy outside...it is still 'the day that the LORD has made and I want to  rejoice and be glad in it.'
Isaac Watts expressed God's throne of grace so well and this special place is open all the time for us.
Don't we serve a Great God!! :)
Me thinks that Iain has been blessed by our heavenely Father with his writings as being able to express so easily what our daily walk should be.  His way with words has me standing at attention every time I read his posts.  Have you ever written a book, Iain?  Well, if not, you need to.

May everyone's day be blessed and may we all be used by Him to bring others closer.

Very nicely said. I think we have all been there at one time or another. When you spoke of standing still awaiting orders, I know I certainly could relate. I refer to these times as  "being in God's waiting room".
I have also learned that if I "pray for patience" in these situations, it seems that He has a way of allowing situations in my life that test mine all the more!
How faithful He is to answer!!
Well, I'm off to venture into a new day - you know the saying:
I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go!

Have a blessed day everyone.

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful day is getting started here in Georgia and it is suppose to hit 90 degrees here today with more chances of showers this afternoon.  Typical summer afternoon in the South.

Once again, both devotional messages speak volumes.  Iain, I certainly agree with Kathy that you have a marvelous way with words and paint such vivid portraits with your writing as well as capturing God's beauty with your photography.

I have been working for quite awhile scanning all of the pictures we have of our granddaughter.  I finished the project yesterday and am mailing her today a CD with all of these pictures as well as several others.  I have software that makes a self contained photo album and it displays the photos just as you would see them in a paper album.  You can also annotate it whereever desired.  She is very anxious to get them as her first husband, after they had separated,  destroyed all of the photos she had of her family.  I am also sending her a camera and film so she can continue to take pictures of my great grandson as he progresses in these early years.

Welcome Tim, it is a pleasure to have you joining us.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Carol

Iain:  Thanks for the devotions on "Fighting the good fight".  My dad used that phrase at times.

Larry:  What is your software for photos?  How nice that you can give family photos as a most welcome gift.

We are not back into the normal weather pattern which would be the high temps with very much chance of afternoon shower.  The clouds come and then they melt away.  Fires are in the state but not as large as last year although a fire chokes the air anywhere and it is so difficult for everyone.

Pat S:  How are the trips going for your neighbor?  Who is going to drive when you leave for Calgary?  Carol

Welcome Tim!  I pray you'll enjoy both the photography AND the fellowship here!

Good Morning: Iain your devotionals are  the way everyone should start their day. I really think you should publish. I on nly wish I could tell you how to go about doing that

Janet, You know I am believing with you or Beths healing. I am already thanking the Lord for her healing.

I think I mentioned in my post last night that the church up here is a worshipping church.  There was even a shot worship service before Bible Study, Pastor Duane doesn't even need a mike.  ;)

Must do a few thing before I meet Al and Marbeth for tea/coffee at Sacred grounds this afternoon. I do need to wash the desert dust off my car that I brought up here with me.

A big welcome to Tim and to others who have joined since I was here last.

Wow, so many posters and postings to catch up on.

To the many who are hurting ; please know that I have added you to my prayer list.

To others who are reading and wondering about joining us --well, check around and see the "bestest" Christians on the website.!!

Always here for you; and I thank them for that.

Last I was here, my SIL's dad was having heart surgery.  He is now at home with a "new state of the art" defibirater and pace maker" and feels just great !!!

He will have to go back to be tested for sleep apnea.

Ruth Ann, I read your plight in Prayers and know that I am praying for you.

Marilyn, great news on your move --seems like you are settling in nicely.

Jane, you will be missed and a big hug for Nita when you see her. The Lord has a big plan for her ; I just know it.  Her love for HIM shows through in her postings and I surely miss her.

Wentever she is ready to join us; we will be waiting.

Papa John, do update us on your medical condition.

I knew it !!! I forgot half of the postings that I wanted to respond to.

Blame it on "old age" or just that I have a busy schedule and can't get here  o ften (that sounds better than old age or having a "senior moment"
.
I have to go and check out the kitchen section (want to make some new recipes)

I won't say Goodmorning folks......sorry I'm late but had a doctors appointment and then got behind with things.  I haven't forgotten to pop in and say "Hello".

Yes Iain, "He knows the way I taketh".....and a promise for us all:-

"Green pastures are before me
Which yet I have not seen;
Bright skies will soon be o'er me,
Where the dark clouds have been"

Thank-you for reminding me of my favourite hymn, it was in  the file with my funeral bond...Ouch!...re "In Heavenly Love Abiding" Anna L Waring.

Twice today I have been told I am in God's "waiting Room" and this does encourage me somewhat...especially the last week without my scooter.  Now I have it back but the heavy rain has started. Not surprising after so much heat.

A word for Iain  Via  Nicky Cruz   "Sometimes He dropped food from the sky. Sometimes He sent it in a Raven 's mouth"???

Strange I too was thinking what a great writer and preacher you would be Iain... "The stops as well as the steps are directed by the Lord".

WELCOME TIM....I am glad to see a young man has joined us...Jesus has a special plan for your life and Christian Photographers is just one stage on your journey. "Trust in the Lord ,lean not to your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path".(Prov 3:5-6)

TIM!!!
I got carried away with redoing some Hawaii photos with PSP7 and I didn't get back online last evening.  And then this morning Ivalou called me and asked if I would go with her and the girls, her two granddaughters that are staying with her, to somewhere for her to buy a new refrigerator.  Her son just turned 50 and the fridge she has she got when he was in high school and it was a used fridge then!!!  So it has finally zonked out.  She had two half-gallons of milk to go bad this week.  Yep, she got one.  Will be delivered in the morning.  So I am just now getting online and trying to get caught up with everything.

God Bless All of You!!!

Pat, so sorry to read that you had to have more dental surgery.  You are really having a time.  Did the antibiotic clear up the problems you were having last week?

Carol, the software I use for the photo albums is called Flip Album and it is the pro version.  It is really neat.  I am sure there are other products that provide the same feature but I have used the Flip Album for several years.

Good to see everyone here today.  After my treatment today Pat and I went to Golden Corral for a late lunch/early dinner.  They have a $4.99 senior special between 2-4 pm and that includes the drink.  This is a buffet with a huge salad bar, hot foods bar and dessert bar.  The only problem is that one has a tendency to eat a little too much.  It was very good.

Pat

Yes, Larry, the penicillan is working.  I still have two more days of those and then they are finished.  This today was with that same area where the extraction took place last week.

Oh well, this too, shall pass!

Jerry was working outdoors today in the shade...then started cutting some limbs from some trees.  He got over heated.  I truly do not know how he got into the house.  He has no strength.  Please pray for him to regain his strength.  He even crawled to the bathroom and to his bed.  This all happened around 4PM and it is 6:30PM now.  He is resting now.  Hopefully the rest will help him and he will wake just tired!!  He was so hot when he came in and said his head hurt.  He was burning up.  We got his head cooled by cool clothes.  Then he was chilled.  But again, he is resting now.

I will copy and paste this into the 'Have you Prayed about it' thread, too.

Thank you.

Oh, Etta,

So sorry to hear about Jerry.  Prayers going out to him now.

Marilyn what a great picture--all three of you looking good.

I think I have the same polo shirt as you do --mine is navy blue and white with the flowers, too.

Pat, so sad to hear about your dental problems. Do take care.

Remember when I first started at SN: I mentioned friends that I work with living up there. I think it was in Guelph.

He just called --he and his wife may be heading our way for a visit.  He took the furlough when Bombardier Group were having their problems as all the airlines are.

He is so happy to be retired and keeps pushing me to slow down and enjoy life.

I , too, feel the Lord is leading more and more away from the business world and get out and enjoy this God given world that he created.

Going to get over to the prayer forum.

Talk to you later,

Good evening everyone.

Etta Sue-I'm sorry to hear about Jerry, I'll be praying for you and him.

Good to see everyone posting.  We went for a horse-drawn buggy tour of an old order mennonite farm today.  It was great, tons of history and information.  It's a lovely area too.

Well, I'm off to bed soon.  God bless you all, and I hope you all have a great night.  Jen.

karmat

Good day all.  One more night of vacation Bible school.  It has been good, but I am tired.

Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, I hope you are feeling better.  Be careful in that heat.  And drink lotsa water and stuff.

Pat, I hope you are feeling better.  Ouchy teeth stuff.

I know there were others that I meant to address and forgot, but please know your post was read and "digested" with appropriate prayers and praises given where needed.  Chalk it up to "pre-Senior" moments.

I went today and submitted three pictures to the Transylvania County Arts Council "In Focus" contest.  They had a little line at the bottom of the registration about what constituted a "professional" and who needed to be in that category.  Yep, you guessed it.  Technically, because of my prints on dpcPrints and the prom I did, I should be in the professional class.  Not cool.   I am not even close to professional by any definition, but I didn't want to feel like I had lied.  The good news is that there were only 6 or 8 other entries in that class.  Other "categories" had many, many, many.  Architecture (where two of my pics would go) had like 15 or so.  If there are too many, they don't get hung on the wall at all!  So, anyway.  As Jerry would say, this is probably TMI.

Have a great night.  I don't know if I will be back in as I am exhausted again (no AC in the church -- very hot and humid here) and I may just go to bed.

Take care and I will "see" you on Friday.

Marilyn

Well I am going to watch a  movie, Star Wars episode 1  Gilbert brought it over for me towatch. So I'll chek here in the am before  I read the new  thread.
