JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

How To Commit Your Life To Christ

    Romans 10:9-13 says...

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    [/list]

      Psalm 37:3-7 says...

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

      Morning Devotional...

I saw also the Lord. . . Then said I, Woe is me[/b]!
      Isaiah 6:1, 5

And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead.
      Revelation 1:17

The presence of the Lord is no place for lightness.

There are some who claim such intimacy with the God of heaven, the Father of glory, that they feel free to use the language of the street in His august presence.

Have we known Him as did Jacob?

Have we seen Him as did Isaiah or John?

Our unique and wonderful relationship with Him as His children does not absolve us of the responsibility, indeed the joy of ascribing to Him His due honor.

He asks, "If then I be a Father, where is Mine honor?" (Mal. 1:6).
      --J. Boyd Nicholson

O! How I fear Thee, living God,
      with deepest, tenderest fears,
And worship Thee with trembling hope
      and penitential tears.
      I. Watts

Hi Pat, yes I am officially on holidays now.   That's why I'm up so late.   Tonight I was at the chiropractor.   He has some kind of lazar that can fix many things including chronic pain.   But like anything that works the treatments are expensive.

Larry, back to the blackcurrant jam.   It is very delicious.  Thick and tarty depending how much sugar you put in it.  Also it is very good for you.   Loaded with vitamins.

Pat, hope to get to see you soon.

      Love Ruthie
The Lord is my light and my salvation Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

      Etta Sue

Wow!  What am I doing up so late?  It is 11:30 p.m. here.

Two things my mother taught me growing up....

      1) No matter how bad things are, someone else has it worse.

      2) No matter how bad things are, something good will come out of it.

At the time, both of those 'wisdoms' seemed down-right impossible.  The older I get, the more this two things are true.

Janet, my heart hurts for you and your family.  When someone is failing, the whole family feels the pain.  Look up to God.  He will give you comfort and wisdom.  You are all in my prayers.  God bless you all.

Jerry and I went out for Chinese today.  Again, Mieka, the restaurant was FULL of Mexicans.  Sunday, we went out for Mexican...NO CHINESE IN THE MEXICAN RESTAURANT!!!  :o  Perhaps it is because Chinese is a buffet...Mexican isn't.  Perhaps the Chinese doesn't know how to order the Mexican food.   ???  Mexican's just go fill their plates up!!   ::)  Then we went to K Mart, Lowe's and Dollar General.  When we got back here, Jerry showed me how to replace electrical sockets.  I had four of them that when you looked at the sockets, what was plugged in, fell out!  But I also know how to do them now so I can replace more if I want.  It took awhile to set all my clocks... VCR's, TV's, microwave, alarm clocks, etc.  Jerry then went to his home.

I went over to Ivalou's to see the girls, Kara and Lydia.  Ivalou had her family room torn up...cleaning.  She took the girls half-way home yesterday where the rest of the girl's family met them.  So I missed saying good-bye to Kara and Lydia.  Ivalou and I talked like sisters talk and then I came home.  Fixed a bite to eat and watched some TV.

I am tired but decided to check out CP before getting horizontal!!!

Janet - I hope I'm not interferring here, ...or stepping out of line, BUT, after I received my CPP (Canada Pension Plan) any "aids" to help with mobility was  ...breathing , needs it to walk etc., those things were automatically approved.

Now, it didn't mean that I had NOTHING AT ALL to pay...the government picked up 75%., and I paid the balance of 25%., which was ok

Like I have said in previous messages, I pray for Beth whenever I'm awake and can'y sleep., and this is anothher one oh yhose times.
I'm ty[ingg in the dark...sorry for so many errors.

      Love to you and Beth

"I am too blessed to be stressed".

      Sonifo

Good evening, folks.  I can't believe what time it is.

I am glad I am not the only one up so late.  ;D

Just thought I would stop in and say hi.

Tomorrow is a busy day.  Will be gone pretty much most the day.  It isn't supposed to be as hot.

Hope you all have a good day.

      Hello Anthony and Ria!

      Gareth Parkes

There has been so much change in my life aver the last few months and change still on the cards; I am feeling a little punch drunk.  I was accused by some of my christian contemporaries of being dogmatic and single minded; "chill out a little" was the call, on life and death issues relating to Christians.  I feel better this morning after reading the following extract from daily encounter:

      1. ON BEING SINGLE-MINDED

"A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways" (James
      1:8).

It has been said that if you stand for something
worthwhile, you will have some people for you and some
against you. If you stand for nothing, you will not have
anybody against you but neither will have anyone for you.

In today's society there is tremendous pressure to be
open-minded and politically correct. That is, to accept
just about every belief except for Christianity—and for
what Christians stand for. To agree with the latter means
to be identified as narrow-minded, rigid and fanatical.

What many don't realize is that if you stand for nothing,
you can fall for anything. Or as E. Stanley Jones put it,
"The difference between a swamp and a river is that a river
has banks, and a swamp has none--it spreads over everything.
Some people are rivers: they know where they want to go, and
they confine themselves to the banks that lead to that goal.
      But some people are swamps: they spread over everything;
their minds are so open they cannot hold a conviction."

I'd much rather be a "river for God" and know where I stand
and where I'm headed and be labeled narrow-minded than be a
swamp for "anything goes" and be politically correct and
      popular with the crowd.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, help me to always live to
please you and not the crowd. Give me the courage to stand
for what you teach as moral and right, and stand against
that which you condemn. Thank you for hearing and answering
my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name. Amen."

      God bless everyone this morning.

I appreciated the devotional this morning.  Sometimes we can think that we are only in the presence of God while we are in church.  We behave saintly during these times, but when we are about our business during the week, our behaviour changes a little.  A friend used to say to me, we should be as holy at work as we are during the breaking of bread service.  How true that is.

I was surprised to see so many people posting this morning.  It is good to see it.

Janet I do trust you had some sleep last night.  I have been without sleep myself and know how tiring it is.  I do pray that things will improve with Beth too.

Hello Sonja.  Is that really you in the signature photo?  It looks too young  ;)

Etta Sue your graphics are really impressive lately.  They add interest to the page.

Gareth that was a great little devotional.  If your eye is single then your whole body will be full of light.  It is good to be single-minded for the glory of God, even though people can misunderstand and oppose themselves to us.  Keep on going on brother.

To everybody else; have a great day.  I will be indoors most of the day as I look after my mother now, but we can know God's joy wherever we are, right? So I am looking forward to my day in the house.

      God bless all.
"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things."

      Ecclesiastes 7 : 20
There is not a rigteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.

Yep, we're all broken, flawed, and tainted.
Or, at least that is what we we were (cf. 1 Cor. 6: 9-11).
Praise God, because of His grace and the work of Jesus,
we can stand before God holy, without blemish,
and free from accusation (Col. 1 : 22).

      PRAYER...
      Forgiving Father, and Holy God,
thank You for redeeming me from my mortal and sinful ways
      by the sacrifice of Jesus.
Thank You for empowering me to become more like Him by the power
      of Your Holy Spirit.
Thank You for making me trough grace what i could never be trough
      my own efforts.
Thank You, dear God, for saving me from my sin,
ransoming me from my Guilt, and redeeming me to share in Your glory.
In Jesus name i praise You. Amen.

Good Morning Thank you for the lovely devotionals Pat, Ria and Gareth. Anthony how nice to see you posting now more frequently, just like old times these last few days. Keep coming back Brother.

Etta Sue I was so surprised to see that you had been here last night. Janet must be already traveling to Amarillo with Beth this morning. WE must remember to keep them in prayer.

Another busy day ahead for me, both jobs then I have an appointment to have a manicure which I badly need. My hands are in water so much and so dry, my nails are getting so brittle and break all the time. After that to the church for prayer.

Just this week I have started to read Revelations again. I am reading in the New Century Version of the bible and seeing it in a whole different light. This morning I read chapters 5 and 6 and it brought tears to my eyes. I can't take the time to explain it here you will have to read it for yourselves. I must get ready for work now.

      Papa John

Good morning everyone.  Sorry I never got here yesterday.  Growing old is not always fun and I have been having extra problems with my back.  I plan to spend part of today on the floor with the heating pad.  But my problems are so small when compared with others.

Anthony it is so good to see you with us again.  As someone has said you seem to grow younger with the passing of time.  We hope your mother is doing well.

Janet, we hope you have a good day today.  We have two wheel chairs which I wish we could share.  One came from an aunt of Cornelia who passed away a few years ago.  The other is from my sickness last year.  We do lend them out but right now I think both of them are here.

Pat, thank you for your work in keeping CP on the air.  It is nice to have Christian friends from different parts of the world.

Gal 6:9-10  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.  (NIV)

      Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Am having a pretty quiet morning as was tired when I got up and after going to the "Y" for some walking and then coffee decided not to pursue my frame building project today.  This afternoon is Calvin Cove and then this evening we are going to visit with a friend from SeniorNet (Hootie for those from SeniorNet) who I was finally able to track down.  She has had many illnesses this year and is currently in a nursing home until at least the end of the month.  I talked with her this morning and we are going to take her out to eat at Outback this evening.  She is now able to walk with a walker and she said she had been out last week to a Mexican restruarant that was close by.  I look forward to seeing her as it has been over a year since we were last together.

Janet, I know you are probably on the road as I write this but just want you to know that we are all pulling for you and praying for you and Beth as you face these times of great uncertainty and where decisions have to be made that are often so difficult.  I am praying that the doctor(s) on this trip have something positive to say for Beth that will be the basis of renewed hope and encouragement.

Ria, please take it easy over there and give the shot you got a chance to do its work.  Hope you eyes will be better with the drops.  It sounds like you all have been working too hard these last few weeks.

Papa John, any late word on Steve?  Did he get to go home from the hospital?  Hope the heat pad gives you some relief from the back pain.

Anthony, nice to see you posting again.

I enjoyed the devotional thoughts today and Gareth that was a very good one you shared with us today.

Welcome to d990640.  We hope you will join with us on a frequent basis.

Ruthie, the jam sounds delicious.  Thanks for the info.

Ladybug, thanks for the info on the name of the glue.

      Liz

So many posts and what interesting subjects.  I also love Blackcurrent jam, usually get stuck with my 'Super Glue' and agree with Gareth.  We must be true to our beliefs...tho' I also try to understand it is not always possible to agree on matters of faith.  That is when this person agrees to disagree, without being disagreeable! ;)

Sonja, if I did that, my senior body would never recover.  Nice picture.

Finished doing coins last night and we were up to $200.00 plus and ran out of the coin packets.  Change has taken on a whole new meaning....

The washing machine stopped in the middle of Wendy's laundry for the holiday trip.  Oh joy.  It is only a two year old machine.  Think that little elf is raining on us full time right now.  I only hope that  Wendy's Grandmother will remain alive until they get to Edmonton.  Even the cat is reacting to all the stress around here.  I now have the repair man  added to my long list of duties.  Not certain this elderly lady is up to all the challenges coming right and left.  Been there and done that in an earlier time!

So, will be off to the shopping centre to sit with the laundry.  The repair man can't come until Thursday.  Have not done that sort of thing in about thirty years....wonder what goes on in the places now?  Hope it's not like on the TV commercials :-[

Here is a non-christian and usless thought for the day:

Everyone has a photographic memory, but some don't have any film.

      Pleasant day and God Bless,
      Liz

Hi to all before I go on our trip ; I wanted to check in.

Still have to read so many postings before I "hit" the road

Like the new look; but trying very hard not to look at the face staring at me --on top of page.
Hey, that's me ---oh, well, I guess I better get use to it!!!

Check out this email I just received:

Mrs. Donovan was walking down O'Connell Street in Dublin when she met up
with Father Flaherty.  The Father said: "Top'o'the mornin'' to ye !".

"Aren't ye Mrs. Donovan and didn't I marry ye and yer husband 2 years
      ago?

".  She replied: "Aye, that ye did Father".  The Father asked: "And be
there any wee ones yet?".  She replied :'" No, not yet Father".

      The
Father said : "Well now, I am going to Rome next week and I'll light a
candle for ye and yer husband".  She replied: "Oh , thank ye Father".
They parted ways. Some years later they met again. The Father asked :
"Well now,  Mrs. Donovan, how are ye these days".She replied : "Oh very
well, Father".  The Father asked: "And tell me, have ye any wee ones
yet?".  She replied: "Oh , yes Father! Three sets of twins and 4 singles,
      10 in all.

The Father said : "That's wonderful and how is your loving husband doing?".
She replied : "E's gone to Rome to blow out yer candle'' !!

I will be reading postings and if I have time I will check back.

If not, "see" you in two weeks.

      Take care and as always,

      Love in Christ,
      Joyce

Marilyn ~ You were surprised?  I am still surprised that I was up that late and posting.  Plus, for some reason...(well, I have two furry reasons)...I woke around 6 and cat-napped until 7:30 am before arising.

Ria ~ Ever since I painted the ceilings in my house three years ago I have been having some back problems.  I can  walk and sit but standing very long makes my back hurt.  Not bad enough to see a doctor but it hurts.

Papa John ~ It is so good to see you posting.  I remember this time last year. Jerry had just had his stroke.  He is doing remarkably well compared to what he went through last year.  And the same can be said for you.  Gosh, you went through a lot and I am so happy to see your posts.  Thank you, God.

Sonja ~ I like your new profile photo.  Doesn't look like a mother of four!!!

Larry ~ I forgot to mention about your Youth minister being with your church 10 years.  That is remarkable.  I sure hope that Danny stays with our church.  He is a great fisherman...bringing in the youth of the county.  His congregation grows each Sunday.  Besides, his wife and him just bought a house so that makes me thinks they like it here, too!

Liz ~ It does seem that a lot of items purchased today are throw-away items when they fail instead of repairing them.  I am not even sure if you can get a TV repairman to come to your house today.  I know...your's is the washer.  Yes, they do still have washer repairmen but usually if they are out of warranty, it is almost as cheap to buy new!!!

      Joyce ~ Have fun!!!

I know I have missed some people and for that, I am sorry.  You are in my thoughts, for sure.

I have laundry on the line and I have mowed my grass.  Done some weed eating, too.  Now I am all clean and intend to rest until time to take the clothes off the line.  I love sheets dried on the line....so comfy and cooling at night.

I am praying that our prayers are for Janet and Beth as they visit the doctors in Amarillo.

Larry, give Hootie my best regards.  You will remember she was with the group in Atlanta we met with some years ago.  I have just talked with Steve.  He does sound better today and he is going home from the hospital tomorrow.  The doctor had said he might go today but this morning he said he would like to keep him one more day.  Thanks for asking about him.

Etta Sue, I'm glad that Jerry seems to be getting along pretty good.  Yes, we both had a time of it last year.  One of the medicines the doctor put me on was Plavix.   He said I would take it for nine months.  I took my last one today so that's how long ago it has been since I was in the hospital.  I am glad to finish up with that medicine.  It is VERY expensive around $120.00 for a month's supply or about $4.00 a pill.  I have a bunch of other medicine I continue to take.

Here is a passage for us to think about:

Matt 9:10-13  While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples.  When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"  On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."  (NIV)

      Ruthie

Hi Everyone and thank you Pat for that great devotional.

I have made my jam and it turned out pretty good, if I must say so myself.   ha ha.    I made two batches and made them a little different, but it all tastes the same.  My boarder came up and asked if he could try some so I scouped it out from the big pot and he said "Oh boy, it is still warm"  The neat thing is I put some jam in a couple of old Crown sealers from my mother.   They are glass with a glass top and another alluminium screw top that goes over top.   I think they are almost antique.  On the bottom of the glass are dates like 1934 or 1936.   Amazing that they are not broken by now.  My mother and Pat's mother were big on canning and preserving and doing many things that women do not do anymore.  I have my mothers little enamal jug that she kept her wax in to put on top of the jam.   Then it would last for a long time.

Well I will go now and post later.  Where are you Pat?

      Love Ruthie

That Jam sounds yummy Ruthie.  I haven't made jam in several years.  I can't seem to find the time for it.  The last time I made some was several years back and I entered a jar of Peach Jam in the local fall fair and got first prize for my efforts.

Joyce, Thank you for the chuckle!

Janet, I hope all goes well for you today.

I'm sure I've missed more, but dinner is on the table so must leave.

Evening folks!  Just as I was ready to start posting here, Gene came in from his bible study so I'm leaving already.  I worked all day, we had a quick supper and he took off, so now it's time for some togetherness.   :)

      Papa John

Well, this is late for me.  We have had a nice day here.  I have felt a little better by using the heating pad on my back so I was able to take a little walk with Cornelia in the neighborhood.

Over in the photo section I posted a picture of Cornelia and me taken near the pyramids in Egypt.  I mentioned that God was with us on that trip because we were almost on a plane which was hijacked.  I have just written the story about our near hijack if you would like to see it.:

      Janet

Hello, dear ones.  We just got home a little while ago from Amarillo.  We had a good day, all in all.  Beth did okay with the MRIs, said they had to redo a five minute part because she moved.  It is really hard to lie still for two hours.  The wheelchair we borrowed worked really well when we went to Sam's after she got through at the hospital.  She said it is easy to wheel around.  I pushed her most of the time, but it's good to know she can do it herself, too.

We won't have any reports from the tests for probably two weeks.  I hate the waiting.

Thanks to all of you who prayed for me to have a good night's rest last night.  I did, praise God!  When I woke up this morning, I felt like a new woman!  I couldn't stop praising God for a good night's sleep.

Tomorrow I will take Beth shopping for groceries.  She still tries to do stuff for herself, but it is getting harder and harder.  I really don't like it that she keeps falling.

Thank you, everyone who prayed for us last night and today, and everyone who spoke to me today.  Your friendship is precious.

I'm worn out and heading to bed real soon.  Talk to you tomorrow.
