JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Tells a Story and Visits Friends
Luke 10:25-42  NLT

25One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: "Teacher, what must I do to receive eternal life?"

26Jesus replied, "What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?"

27The man answered, " `You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.' And, `Love your neighbor as yourself.' "

28"Right!" Jesus told him. "Do this and you will live!"

29The man wanted to justify his actions, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

30Jesus replied with an illustration: "A Jewish man was traveling on a trip from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes and money, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road.

31"By chance a Jewish priest came along; but when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by. 32A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.

33"Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt deep pity. 34Kneeling beside him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with medicine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. 35The next day he handed the innkeeper two pieces of silver and told him to take care of the man. `If his bill runs higher than that,' he said, `I'll pay the difference the next time I am here.'

36"Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?" Jesus asked.

37The man replied, "The one who showed him mercy."

Then Jesus said, "Yes, now go and do the same."

38As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a village where a woman named Martha welcomed them into her home. 39Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord's feet, listening to what he taught. 40But Martha was worrying over the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, "Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me."

41But the Lord said to her, "My dear Martha, you are so upset over all these details! 42There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it--and I won't take it away from her."

Who has been a good Samaritan to you?

From the parable we learn three principles about loving our neighbors:

    (1) Lack of love is often easy to justify.

    (2) Our neighbor is anyone of any race or creed or social background who is in need.

    (3) Love means acting to meet a need.

Wherever you live, there are needy people close by.  There are no good reasons for refusing to help.

Hi and bye, Pat!  Early morning tomorrow.   ZZZZzzzzzz!!

Janet

Good portion from the Word, Etta Sue.  You have a good rest and a good trip tomorrow.  You are such a blessing to the people who need a driver to take them to doctor's appointments.

Hello, Pat!

Pat and I (the Ulysses Pat  ;) ) went out to the fair and spent the evening.  They had a talent show and several young people from the church were in it.  The twin girls from church won first place in the high school division, so will perform again tomorrow night.

I'm tired, so heading to bed now.

Hey Liz!  Where are you hiding?  How are Squeek and Misty?  I hope Wendy is doing better.

Al, will continue to pray for Marbeth.  Was the concern about power because of high use of electricity this time of year?  If so, why will Friday be better?  (I guess I am naturally curious.)

Janet - no, it was Pacific Gas & Electric doing some work on the lines along the road where the hospital is.  I think they are done.

Good afternoon in a hot and sticky Nobleton.

Al my prayers are with you and Marbeth today and the days of recovery to follow.

The storm of last Friday did a lot of distruction starting in New Market then hitting many areas on it way to the North.  North Bay & Sudbury were hit quite Hard then areas continuing North also got it reall good as well.

Now I must move on and get some green beans cooked and in the freezer before my strength runs out.

Have a great day

Good afternoon, kindred souls.

I've nothing new to add.  A wonderful parable to remember Etta Sue.  Blessings to you Marilyn in whatever it is that is troubling you.

 :)Good afternoon y'all!

My goodness its been quiet on here today.  We still haven't heard anything from Terry's test yesterday. I don't do well with hurry up and wait!  It's been quite warm in our neck of the woods too.  Just want to stay inside and rest.

Later,
Samantha

Well I got my Costco shopping one  then Jan and I went to the Sizzler for  the Salad Bar luncheon. I got the car all unloaded and put away, took both dogs out for their walks and have been relaxing here reading some instructions that came with something to scan my purchases for the AC Nielsen company.

Both dogs are laid out Ont he kitchen floor as if to be cooling off, though it isn't hot here.

Last night there was a terrible commotion underneath my front porch about 10PM, then a terrible smell coming through my bedroom window. You guessed it, Yes it was a skunk. The dogs were disturbed from their sleep and got off the bed when I moved quickly to close the window. Question How do I get the skunk out from under the porch without getting sprayed? Do I get animal control to trap it.  or what? Also a few times I have heard something gnawing on the wood under there. Probably a wood rat. If I thrown some "One Bite" rat poison under the porch will it also kill the skunk.

Call Animal Control ... they have the method and means for dealing with Mr. Stinko.   Also, I was told to use whatever works for rats and racoons, etc on the squirrels who felt at home under my house... Turned out I threw moth balls under there and haven't had a problem since.  Of course, moth balls and Mr. Stinko's "perfume" just might make a worse smell than you bargained for.   ::)  I'm sure Animal Control can give you some pointers on that subject.

Hi everyone.  Just a brief stop here tonight as it is getting late and I am ready to hit the bed for the night.  We had an extemely busy day and then enjoyed a nice dinner with a friend from our Sunday School class.  I think I talked about this yesterday.  It was very hot here today and the air was very bad for breathing with smog.

Al, a few months ago my wife was having a procedure done at the hospital and was all prepped for surgery when the lights went out.  After waiting for awhile they finally announced they were not performing any surgeries until the power problem (a cut line somewhere) was fixed.  She had to go back a couple of days later for the procedure.

See you all tomorrow.

Pat

Sorry for my absence today.  Not been feeling well.  guess it's the heat as I felt very dizzy and had to take some travel sickness tablets and then fell asleep on the sofa.

The fellow who has been helping me with my deck building came today to do some of it and the rain came on so heavily that he had to pack stuff up and go home.  He's coming again tomorrow.

I hope everyone can access their photos now in the gallery and edit them and all's well.

I will probably post the New Every Morning early tonight as I would like to retire early to see if I can kick whatever is bothering me.

Hope you are all well.

Nice to see you, Ruth.  Green beans sound good.  I never planted any today.

Now, has everyone taken a photo today?

Photo today? Yes I took a couple of photos of my Yellow Lavender plant and my Hen and chicks Plant which s getting ready to bloom. I think that is what it is. It doesn't really look like Hen and Chicks but I will post them and let y-all decide.

I threw mothballs under the porch and  under the side of the house where the cats have been going under, this weekend I will buy some rat poison. Hopefully I will get rid of the little stinker.

Love that kitty, Etta Sue!  Also enjoyed the devotional.  Then, I enjoy all the devotionals....sort of an 'equal opportunity' Christian.

Marilyn, your delicate problem is amusing to anyone out of range!  Can't wait to read the .... end of the tale ;)

Have not had much to say...so haven't been posting.  Could always add a ditto or amen, because most everything has already been said.

Wendy is doing her best, thanks Janet.  Misty and Squeek (cats) are being Misty & Sqeek.  Funny thing did happen last week, tho.  Misty decided to not come in when called one night and we all spent the evening worrying.  During the night, Squeek kept coming down to my suite (thro' the cat door) and going to stand by my bed or by the garage door.  Misty sleeps in the garage.  In  the morning, Squeek stood up on rear legs and was touching the door.  She doesn't even like Misty!!  Next morning, Misty was waiting for her breakfast and came inside.  Squeek immediately bopped her on the nose and took off.  Go figure!

We are once again into a heat wave.  Story is that it is going to break all records.  I am glad there were some cool days and rain, as the forests will quickly dry out....not to mention the poor critters and people.  This morning, for the first time in weeks, I woke up without a terrible headache and only a moderate amount of pain.  Not certain if it is because I was praying along with Pat Robertson the day before, or some unknown angels were helping out.  At any rate, it has been a good day and I am grateful. :)

Like most Christians, I am so sad about all the conflict in our world.  We need to pray real hard folks.

Looking forward to your photos, Marilyn.  I love "Hen and Chickens"

Liz, hope you got your PM I sent you.  Still praying for Wendy.  We've been through such a drastic heat wave but today was a bit easier to cope with.

Well, it's been a long day, but i'm glad to catch up on everyone's posts, and read about your days.

My grandpa left today, which one more day and i probably would have went out of my mind. but more so then that, my aunt who was sent to the hospital yesterday was offically admitted. which stinks to say the least. so i was there for awhile, a long while. and hospitals can get quite boring especially when my aunt is so weak, so she just wants to close her eyes and sleep. she's going to be going for more tests tomorrow but they think it might have something to do with a gland above the kidney? who knows, God does. all she does is want to feel better, to be back to herself, and if you knew her, you'd think she was a little teenager [she's like 5 feet tall and 100lbs and has more energy then a 10 year old.] so if you could remember in her prayers, i know she would appreciate it.

tomorrow is one of my last days cleaning the rec center, and then i have work at the desk later in the day. i'm not sure if i'm going to get to go see aunt connie tomorrow or just mom. but either way, it's going to be another long, HOT, day. aye, stinking heat, please go away already, it drains me.

blessings to all,
candice

Pat

Candice, I'm so sorry about your aunt.  I do hope that she gets better soon so that she can be her "teenager self" once again!  I'll be praying for her.

Now it's time to lock this door and open another.
