JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Beginnings
Luke 1:1-4; John 1:1-18  NLT

   1Most honorable Theophilus:

Many people have written accounts about the events that took place among us. 2They used as their source material the reports circulating among us from the early disciples and other eyewitnesses of what God has done in fulfillment of his promises. 3Having carefully investigated all of these accounts from the beginning, I have decided to write a careful summary for you, 4to reassure you of the truth of all you were taught.

John 1In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn't make. 4Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone. 5The light shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

6God sent John the Baptist 7to tell everyone about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. 8John himself was not the light; he was only a witness to the light. 9The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was going to come into the world.

10But although the world was made through him, the world didn't recognize him when he came. 11Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. 12But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan--this rebirth comes from God.

14So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.  And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father.

15John pointed him out to the people. He shouted to the crowds, "This is the one I was talking about when I said, `Someone is coming who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before I did.' "

16We have all benefited from the rich blessings he brought to us--one gracious blessing after another. 17For the law was given through Moses; God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. 18No one has ever seen God. But his only Son, who is himself God, is near to the Father's heart; he has told us about him.
Have you personally received Jesus as your Savior and become a child of God?

There was a lot of interest in Jesus, and many people had written firsthand accounts about him.

Luke may have used these accounts and all other available resources as material for an accurate and complete account of Jesus' life, teachings, and ministry.  Because truth was important to Luke, he relied heavily on eyewitness accounts.

Christianity doesn't say, "Close your eyes and believe," but rather, "Check it out for yourself."  The Bible encourages you to investigate its claims thoroughly because your conclusion about Jesus is a life-and-death matter.

Hi Papa John ~ Your GREEN has been missed.  Welcome back.  Pull up your laptop and stay awhile.

Another long day.  Trash day.  Went back to bed.  Changed sheets on bed and washed them.  Ate breakfast.  Read Bible.  Hung sheets on line outside.  Weed-eated until battery went down.  Mowed.  Weed-eated some more.  Took branch and limbs back to woods and put on the stick pile.  Weed-eated until done.  Cleaned off driveway and the mower.  Showered and wash hair.  Ate lunch.  Read emails and answered some.  Brought sheets in and folded them.  Watched TV.  Got dressed for tonight.  Left at 4:15 p.m.  Funny comedy/play.  Good food.  Got home at 11:05 p.m.  Thundering.  Lightening.  Was outside over three hours today.  Did I mention I have a sunburn?  I do.

Tomorrow?  NOTHING!!!!!  Yep, nothing planned at all!!![/b]

Those Who Pass By (#20050721)
by Henry Morris, Ph.D.
"Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the Lord hath afflicted me in the day of His fierce anger" (Lamentations 1:12).
This heartbroken lament, uttered by Jeremiah, the "weeping prophet," personifies the devastated city of Jerusalem after the Babylonian invasion. She who had been "Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, . . . the city of the great King" (Psalm 48:2), now lay in ruins, and neither the triumphant armies who had ravished her nor the careless peoples living around her cared at all that this was the city of God being chastised for her unfaithfulness.

Many Christians have, at times, felt alone and confused, longing for someone who would care, saying with the psalmist: "There was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul" (Psalm 142:4). But no one has ever been so alone or has suffered so intensely and so unjustly as the one who was the very "man of sorrows" (Isaiah 53:3). He was "smitten of God, and afflicted" in the day of God's fierce anger, for "the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:4,6).

Just as there were those who passed by suffering Jerusalem, some gloating and others unconcerned, so there were those who passed by and viewed the suffering Savior as He hung on the cross. "And they that passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads" (Matthew 27:39).

There are multitudes who still pass Him by today. Some revile Him; many ignore Him, altogether uncaring that He loved them and even died to save them. Soon, however, "every eye shall see Him, . . . and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him" (Revelation 1:7). Their indifference will be turned quickly into mourning in that day. "Is it nothing to you?" the Lord would ask. HMM

Good Morning Everyone: Foggy here on the coast, although it is expected to be about 100F about 10-15 miles away later on today.

Nita I know the work that goes into keeping your doggies looking nice. But this time of year I have long black, white and brown fur everywhere. Bebe's is short but she gets brushed too.

I'm taking Jan to the mall today, this wasn't  planned in advance but yesterday she called to tell me that  her electricity is going to be off for  8 am to about 3pm so we are going out.  Then to Versal's after that then to the foot doctor for me.

I am washing a heavy queen sized throw/blanket this morning, I was going to put it on my bed and realized that I didn't wash it before I packed it  years ago, didn't smell too fresh, I am also washing everything else that was in  the crate with it. With the kids coming tomorrow night I need a bigger blanket on the bed .

Yesterday when I got home I vacuumed and straightened up the living/dining room and today I have to do the bathroom and kitchen when I get home this evening.

Hope all of you have a blessed day.

Ok gotta go now.

Hi everyone.

Not much on the schedule today other than going to Calvin Cove this afternoon.  I had a good time at coffee this morning but that is nothing new as I always enjoy the hour or so with my friends.  I have been going to the Cafe for coffee every morning for close to 9 years and hope it can continue for another 9 years or more.  We kid each other and solve the large problems of the world and just enjoy each others company.  The group varies day by day but there are usually 3 of us there most everyday.

Etta Sue, when I read all you did yesterday I almost broke out in a sweat from all that work.  Glad you have a quieter day planned for today.  Thanks for the devotional.

Marilyn, hope you enjoy your time at the mall.  That would wear me out completely to be at the mall that long.  Of course, I would just occupy a bench somewhere and read a book or do a crossword puzzle.

Nards and Karmat, sure hope you can get your modem fixed quickly.  Know it is frustrating to have to constantly fuss with it.  We had quite a lightning storm here late yesterday afternoon and my daughter said she saw a lightning bolt hit out in the street in front of our house.  I heard this really loud bang and knew it had to be very close.  Fortunately we didn't lose power and since I have whole house surge protection I don't have to unplug everything.

Sue, it sounds like you got a bargain at the auction.  I try to stay away from auctions (although they are fun to attend) as I usually end up buying something I really don't need.  For the same reason we don't take in garage sales and there are lots of those around here.

Ruth Ann, sure hope the foot surgeon had good news for you this morning and you won't have to have surgery.

Jen, glad that you found a reasonable dentist.  I don't know that we have any of those left in our area.  :)  You certainly need to get rid of the abcessed tooth as that constantly through poison into your system.

Nita, I agree with Pat that your posting wasn't too long.  Always good to read what folks have to say.

Pat, I looked at the article on "Dust Off" and that is so sad that young folks have to look for something like this to fill their lives.

Papa John, I am a bit like you in not being able to walk very far.  It isn't that my back or legs bother me I just get too tired from the exertion.  I have resorted to using the electric shopping carts a few times in the grocery store and that has really helped.  I hesistate to use them as I fear someone else that may be crippled or just cannot walk very far will need them.

Once again I know I haven't addressed each person posting but have certainly enjoyed each and every posting and say a big hi to each of you.

I see it is about time for lunch so will stop writing.

Etta Sue

Not much going on here since posting in the wee hours.

I have already been to the convenience store for gas in my car and three containers for the lawn mower.  Also got some cash from the ATM machine and spent most of the cash at Dollar General.  I looooovvvvveeee shopping at DG!

It is hot out there....a huge storm last night after I got to bed so it is steamy, humid, muggy, sultry...just downright uncomfortable if you are out very long.  So I am in for the day!!!

;D ;D ;D I'm Baaaack!  Thanks to Pat and Larry and their kind help.  Thanks so much, Pat and Larry.

Papa John, I tried to tell you yesterday how delighted I was to see you back, but couldn't get the reply box.  Anyway, welcome back!  It is good to know you have your trusty little scooter to make getting around easier for you.  I'm sure Cornelia enjoys your company on her walks.  I hope Mieka pops in to read your posts!  (Where are you, Mieka??)

It is very hot here, too.  Was 107 yesterday and I expect near that again today; with a lot higher humidity than we are used to having.  But I saw on TV that in Bullhead City, Arizona, it is 124 today! :-[  Now, that is HOT. nd they have had 16 heat-related deaths there.  So we can still be thankful, can't wse?

I promised Beth I would take her out to the fair tonight.  It is the big free barbecue, and then there is a Christian cowboy singer who is performing and giving his testimony about a cowboy being called into God's service.  Should be good.  I am picking up my friend Pat, too, as neither Darrel nor her husband wants to go.

Time to get ready to go!  Glad I am back on CP again and can even post!  Thanks again, Larry!

We have the most beautiful guests in our home.  They come in the spring and stay till mid July.

Yes I am talking about our hawk family.  This year there are 3 chicks and they are attempting to fly.

One got stuck under the deck and melaura went to get it.  Cimi Her dog went in behind the chick and "herded" it toward Melaura.  What a thrill she had holding this "baby"

These parents are back for the thirs year.  They are so beneficial to us in getting rid of mice, moles and snakes.  We used to have a problem with bats.  I don't like bats as they cah be carriers of rabies.  The hawks have riddid the attic areas of the bats too.

I still hear Mommy calling to the babies encoutraging them to fly.  We have outdoor cats, but till the babies fly high the cats stay inside.  Unfortunately there are no pictures as John has the camera.

Well I am closing for now. will  let you know when they fly!

Pat:  When I sign on I have to enter my password every time now.

As Sue said we went to the Auction and we did spend a little money but it was on something that was needed and a lot less than in the store.  I did a little unnecessary spending though but that is also part of the fun.

Sad to hear that London has more problems not as bad as 2 weeks ago but non the less it happened again.

I think that perhaps tomorrow I will go into my kitchen cupboards and get rid of items that I have not used in a long time then perhaps I will have room for what I do use.

Have a good evening all.

Etta Sue it is good to see you.  Thanks for the devotional this morning.  Be careful for the sun burn.  This is the time of year.

Hello Bernard, good to see you this morning.  (Well it is afternoon now.)

Hello Marilyn, years ago downtown in Nashville when it was the center of shopping there was a sign in a church yard which said, "Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by?"  Each day many hundreds of people passed by the church.  It is an important question to ask today.  Thanks for sharing.

Larry I do use the carts in the grocery store.  I can't get around well enough to help with the shopping without them.  Seems like most of the stores have plenty of them now.  On rare occasions when there aren't any left I find me a chair and sit down and let Cornelia do the shopping.

T-bear, have a great time on your vacation.

Janet, I'm glad you are able to post again and thanks to Larry.  Yes, the scooter has made quite a hit in our neighborhood.  There are a lot of walkers and everyone is friendly and they remark about the scooter.  Unless it cools off some later we may not try it today.  When we went to the store today it was 97 degrees  -- and that is HOT.

Good to see  you Judy B.  The hawk family sounds interesting.  Too bad you can't share a picture.

Ruth, it is good to see you today.

John 15:9-14    As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.  If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.  My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.  You are my friends if you do what I command.  (NIV)

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Such a DAY!

First, not good news from the foot surgeon. While he's not talking surgery, he is worrying about this leading down hill to Charkot (I think that's the way it's spelled), which is a terrible thing for diabetics to endure. Also, he's applying for a motorized scooter rental and a bone stimulator device I'll need to use for several hours a day.

No hiking this summer, methinks.

Then, a busy, busy day at work.

Whew! I'm heading to bed 'fore long.

G'nite.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Thanks SO much, Chris, for posting that article - it's great.

Janet

Papa John, good to see you again!

Hi there, Ruth!  Want to come clean out my cabinets next?  ;)

Etta Sue, was your slower day today nice?  You've had a couple of hectic ones lately!

We really did ejoy the Christian Cowboy singer.  Soni, he flew here from Gillette, Wyo. for this concert, and was flying back up there tonight!  His 15 year old daughter is competing in the National Finals Rodeo there.  I think they live in Alabama.  He writes all his own songs, and they all glorify our Lord---very refreshing!

I think I hurt my arm again getting Beth back in her house a while ago.  She was tired and couldn't pick up her feet at all, so I had to wrestle the wheelchair up onto the sidewalk and up the ramp with her in it.  She weighs the same as I do, plus the wheelchair, so it isn't easy for me.  I will be glad when this tendonitis clears up and I can do better.  It was good for her to get out tonight, but it really wore her out, and all she did was sit and ride in the chair.

Well, I think I'm going to hit the sack a little early tonight.  I am still feeling rather tired.  I hope I get back to full strength soon.

God bless you all.

Wow, Janet!  I wonder if I'll see him there this weekend.  We are heading over there tomorrow evening.  I can't miss the opportunity to take pictures.  hehehe...
There is close to 6,000 people here for the rodeo.  Talk about wild traffic!!

Off to finish uploading pictures to smugmug.
