JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hi everyone and Happy Birthday Suzanne.

It is overcast here today and we had over an inch of rain during the night with more predicted in the next couple of days.  This evening I have a Worship committee meeting to attend at the church.  I missed the one last month as was on vacation and not in town.  We have a revivial scheduled for the end of August so know much of the meeting will related to it.

The yard folks are here and have trimmed the bushes in front of my office window.  They had grown so high the last couple of weeks that I couldn't see out to see what my neighbor was doing and what was happening in the street.  That has been corrected and it now looks like someone lives here again.  They do such a nice job on the yard but this time of the year, with rain, things really grow rapidly.

Janet, glad to see you are going to continue to post your photos.  Hope Abby is keeping you duly occupied.  She has learned about the need to have a car very early in life.   ;D   Janet, your posting on the courts is truly on target.  Our judical system seems to be really out of control.

Anthony, I viewed your webpage and also signed your petition.

Welcome ladylibrerty to the CP site.

Etta Sue, my wife has never gone to a Pampered Chef party but our daughter-in-law has and really liked what she purchased.

Marilyn, I try to get up about 5:30 but sure don't envy you getting up an hour earlier.  However, it is certainly something worth doing.

Pat, glad you have been able to get your car back.  Don't be running its little wheels off now!  :D

Janice, good to see you posting and hope your husband recovers quickly from his surgery.

Mieka, I am saddened to read you are having so much trouble getting a visa to enter the USA.  Hope that situation improves soon.

I have several things I need to get done so better move on or the whole afternoon will be gone.

Janet

That is a wonderful song, Anthony!  And I also love "What a Friend we Have in Jesus."

Abby and I are making Stone Soup.  Anyone want the recipe? ;D  She is quite the little cook.

Anthony

Thanks for posting the hymn Pat.  It's a tremendous hymn.  I'm glad you and Janet liked God is still on the throne; I have never heard the music to it, but a friend of mine gave me the words.

Larry, thanks for signing the guestbook.  It's really good of you.  Ria also signed and that's great.

I've been busy in the house today.  I have had a newsletter pushed through the door that gives details of some help that people can get who are caring for someone.  There seems quite a lot on offer, so I am going to make a few 'phone calls.

Pat, I forgot to say how happy I am that you have your car back.  They are a real blessing aren't they?  (And I hope you manage to get some sleep tonight too!)

God bless all, catch ya later.

Anthony.

Papa John

It is so good to see each one today.

I just dropped in for a minute to say hello.  Welcome to the newcomers.

Pat I enjoyed reading the devotional today.  Thank you for sharing.

Ps 1:1-6
1   Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2   But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3   He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
4   Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
5   Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6   For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.  (NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

The Church: Common People

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to
the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has
chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise,
and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the
things which are mighty.
--1 Corinthians 1:26,27

Christian believers and Christian congregations must be thoroughly
consecrated to Christ's glory alone. This means absolutely turning
their backs on the contemporary insistence on human glory and
recognition. I have done everything I can to keep "performers" out
of my pulpit. I was not called to recognize "performers." I am
confident our Lord never meant for the Christian church to provide a
kind of religious stage where performers proudly take their bows,
seeking personal recognition. That is not God's way to an eternal
work. He has never indicated that proclamation of the gospel is to
be dependent on human performances.

Instead, it is important to note how much the Bible has to say about
the common people--the plain people. The Word of God speaks with such
appreciation of the common people that I am inclined to believe they
are especially dear to Him. Jesus was always surrounded by the
common people. He had a few "stars," but largely His helpers were
from the common people--the good people and, surely, not always the
most brilliant.  Tragedy in the Church: The Missing Gifts, 5.

"We confess, Lord, that we have too often been enamored of the
religious star, the celebrity, the big name. In our church, Lord,
help us to treat all alike as Your servants. Amen."

I'd love the recipe, Janet.  STONE Soup??

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Janet

;D ;D  I was afraid nobody was going to ask, Pat!  It is from the children's book "Stone Soup" about travelers coming to a village needing food and a place to sleep, and all the villagers hid their food, slammed their doors and pretended not to be home.  The travelers ring the village bell, so the villagers come out and tell them it is only rung in case of an emergency. "But this is an emergency!" the travelers say, "There's no food in this town!  So now is the time to make Stone Soup!"

Of course, the villagers are curious, so the travelers tell them how to make Stone Soup.  They start with a big pot of water, heat it over the fire, then add stones.  They taste it, say it's good plain, but would be so much better if they could make the fancy kind.  The villagers ask what they need, and hurry to bring all the other ingredients.  The recipe is on the last page of the book:

                        RECIPE FOR STONE SOUP

Heat some water in a pot.  Add some stones you've scrubbed a lot.

Sprinkle pepper, salt and herbs.  Let it boil, undisturbed.

Drop in carrots, onions, too.  Let the soup heat through and through.

Stir in milk to make it sweet.  Add potatoes for a treat.

Toss in meat cubes.  Let it stew.  Let it bubble.  Let it brew.

Taste the soup and when it's done,
Share Stone Soup with everyone!

And yes, we did put stones in it; otherwise it wouldn't be Stone Soup, would it? ;)  Abby went out and found the little rocks and scrubbed and scrubbed them. ;D

Supper is all ready for Grandpa!  (I didn't put in the milk, and she didn't notice.)  She peeled the potatoes and carrots, and put everything in the pot.

Want to come over for a bowl of Stone Soup??

It's 10.30pm here, but I feel like it's about 2.30am if you get what I mean.  It's great that Papa John looked in for a while, and nice to read the scripture that you quoted Papa John.

Chris those are  really deep devotionals.  I just started to sing solos occasionally at the front of the church, and I do hope that it doesn't seem like a performance.  There is no account of Christ using solo singers to help him convey the gospel is there?  Just a thought.

Anyway, I trust everyone will have a great evening or night depending where you are.  Papa John's scripture reading is a good one to go to bed on.

God bless,

Anthony.

Etta Sue

When I got up this morning...around 8 a.m....I was hunting for something to put cat food in...I was getting tired of lifting the big bag every morning and evening.  I remembered I had a Tupperware container with a handle on it.  Now where was it?  Then I remembered it was in the north bedroom.  I keep the door closed when Jerry isn't here...no sense cooling that room also.  I went in and got the container.  I put the food in it.  Ate my breakfast.  Made my coffee.  Read my morning Bible devotions.  Then I got online.  I didn't get offline until after 1 p.m.  Since I was feeling kind of blah, I went to Lapel to the bank, got me something to eat at a restaurant and stopped at the Dollar General.  I stopped the car at the mailbox and got my mail and the newspaper.

It was raining so I ran (well, walked fast) into the house.  Inky always greets me at the door.  I decided to read the paper.  While reading the paper, I heard this funny noise.  Sounded a little like one of the girls scratching in the litter box but not quite.  I ignored it.  Then I heard it again and then a meeeeoooooow!  I get up, walk to the hall by the bedrooms and Inky is in the hall not doing anything.  Just looked up at me kind of puzzling.  Then I heard the meeeeeoooooow again.  I SHUT ALI IN THE BEDROOM!!!!!!!  Whew! was she happy to be out and headed to the litter box...thank God.

I had shut Ali in there almost 7 hours.  Poor kitty!!!

That stone soup sounds good Janet.

Soooo Pat has her car back......Wonder if she will be at home much in the coming days? ???   Perhaps after fixing the car she cannot afford the gas? ???  I wonder? ???

It has been a beautiful day today.  Cool to cold nights and Hot days.  Excellent. :)

Janet - I am truly moved by Bill Bright's presentation about the nine men who changed America.  It's absolutely true.  I believe that we, who after all are the government, need to bring up new civil cases to challenge those nine men's interpretation.  Failing in that, then we need to defend our constitution - with arms if necessaary.  In the meanwhile, we Christians ought to pray much, write letters to congressmen, etc.  We mustn't be lazy in it, for we are obligated.  When the Preamble says, "We the people..." it means just that.  When the constitution says that our government is "of the people, by the people, and for the people" it means we're responsible to make sure that righteousness reigns.

Janet

I agree 100%, Al, and I do those things, too!  There is a lot you can do from your computer to fight for regaining our rights that have been stripped away through the years.  And of course, we MUST VOTE!!  In my opinion, there are quite a few in the Senate and in the House who need to be voted OUT.  Okay.........off my soapbox now.  :-\

The Stone Soup was good!  Darrel ate several bowls of it, as he hadn't had any lunch.  (And there he was working in the Cattlemen's Cafe!)  Go figure.

Tomorrow I start judging again.  Sublette is the first town I will be judging in, and it will be 4-H Arts and Crafts.  Last year they had a LOT of entries.  I am thinking of letting Abby take care of Aunt Beth while I am gone, I think she would get really tired if she goes with me, and I don't have anyone to keep an eye on her.  Her Dad or one of her brothers will come to get her tomorrow evening.

Anyway, I will be scarce around here tomorrow.

Pat, how is the car running?  I hope it doesn't give you any further trouble!

Off and on sprinkles and drips today but the threat of possible thunderstorms and some flooding tonight.  It's been one of those days where a sweater is too warm but you're not warm enough without it and I've practically worn one out putting it on and taking it off.   :-\

They discovered this morning that sometime over the weekend there was vandalism in our cemetery.  I can't imagine what kind of people would do something like that.

The day is almost over, but I have to wish you a Great Birthday Suzanne.

And now time for bed.  Tomorrow is going to be a long day!

Ps Suzanne, I had to go back and change the spelling of your name.  I had it typed in and posted before I realized that I had used the full spelling of my name (Suzzanne) instead of yours.

Yes, I've got the car and I'm just about $2,000.00 lighter!!  LOL

Janet, what do the stones do in that soup?  I don't understand the reason for putting in the stones but maybe it's just me?

I had a 2 hour doctor appointment too this afternoon and I am now fasting and have to go in the morning for the start of a raft of blood tests.

Anyway, I better go and start the new topic for tomorrow...

I'll be back.
