JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Teaches about Prayer
Luke 11:1-13  NLT

1Once when Jesus had been out praying, one of his disciples came to him as he finished and said, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."

2He said, "This is how you should pray:

"Father, may your name be honored.
       May your Kingdom come soon.
3Give us our food day by day.
    4And forgive us our sins--
just as we forgive those who have sinned against us.
And don't let us yield to temptation."

5Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this illustration: "Suppose you went to a friend's house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You would say to him, 6`A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.' 7He would call out from his bedroom, `Don't bother me. The door is locked for the night, and we are all in bed. I can't help you this time.' 8But I tell you this--though he won't do it as a friend, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you what you want so his reputation won't be damaged.

9"And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. 10For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks.

11"You fathers--if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? 12Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! 13If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him."

How could your prayer habits be improved?

When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he made forgiveness the cornerstone of their relationship with God.  God has forgiven our sins, so we must forgive those who have wronged us.  To remain unforgiving shows we have not understood that we ourselves, along with all other human beings, need to be forgiven.

Think of some people who have wronged you.  Have you truly forgiven them, or do you still carry a grudge against them?  How will God deal with you if he treats you as you treat others?

My trip to Indiana University was fine.  Two hours there and two hours back...then I live 45 minutes from Greenfield so I drove 5½ today.  It was cloudy and when we got back to Greenfield it had rained and so it was really hot and humid.  Yuck!  When I got out of the air conditioned car, my glasses steamed up!!  That's humid.

Now since the computer guru didn't come here Tuesday, he is suppose to be here tomorrow morning.  And then Kitty and I are going to Fry's in the afternoon!  I have never been there but want to check out there GPS's to see if they have any refurbished ones.

Good morning!  Really, it is night now, but most will read it in the morning, I think.

I had a busy day judging at the fair in Leoti, getting a Reliv order ready to mail out tomorrow, then to church.  After church we had birthday cake for one of the members.  His wife bought Dairy Queen ice cream cakes---those are so good!  8)  Just what I do not need, though.

I am tired and headed to bed, but will try to post tomorrow; then you won't be seeing me for three weeks!!

Good morning y'all!

Etta Sue:  We bought a truckload of merchandise coming out of Fishers yesterday, and the driver told us last night that he got the call to pick it up while he was in Noblesville. Small world, huh?

Not much has changed in my part of the world.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Samantha :)

Good Morning Everyone!

This is a really busy week for me.  I've had some very important city meetings each day and evening and more today.  So, I'm popping in when I can.

How are you all?

At least today is overcast here and not the very high heat of the past few weeks.  That's more comfortable.

Have you all taken a photo today?  I'm going to take my camera with me to the next meeting and see if I can get a few minutes by the river to see what I can shoot after the meeting.

When do you go camping Carl?

How's Marbeth doing, Al?

Pat - Marbeth is sitting right next to me, and she says "Sore, but doing fine."

It's foggy here this morning (not unusual in this neck of the woods).

Good morming folks.

Pat, I'll be leaving this afternoon.  Depending on when my better half is ready.  I just picked her up from the airport at midnight last night, so I don't suspect she's quite ready to go.

HI everyone.  It is about lunch time but wanted to post this morning as will be busy this afternoon.  This is Calvin Cove day and that pretty well fills up the afternoon.  Both Pat and I are going to drive this afternoon so I don't have to stay all the extra time while she is with her quilting group.  She needs to be at the church for 2 hours and I only need to be there about 45 minutes.  That will give me time for my rest period either before I go or afterwards.

It has really warmed up again here in Georgia (which reminds me I need to turn on my overhead fan).  No rain for a couple of days so had to water the few flowers we have planted outside and will need to do that each morning until it rains again.

Marilyn, glad to read that you are feeling a little better and hope you find improvement throughout the day.

Janet, it won't be the same without you posting for 3 weeks but we will know you are off on another adventure.  I hope you both have a wonderful and restful time enjoying China.

Ohenry, are you going camping again?

Pat, old noisy me but I wondered when I read your messages if you are attending city related meetings or just meetings in and around your city?  This is my last week of relatively few meetings, including choir practice, as all that resumes next month.

Al, sounds good concerning Marbeth.  I know you are both glad that the surgery is behind you and that healing is occurring.

Hi Samantha.

Etta Sue, you are going to be impressed with Fry's.  It is my favorite place to shop even when I don't buy anything.  They have a lot of different GPS systems, some that are really nice.  I would like to have one but just can't justify it as we seldom venture far from home.  Maybe someday it will come standard on the cars.  Thanks for the fine devotional today.

Etta Sue

Babycakes ~ Yes, very small world.  In fact, I am going to Fishers this afternoon to Fry's and probably later to Noblesville to the grocery.  Have you been to Noblesville and Fishers?

Small world.

Samantha

Ive been to (through) Indiana twice. Once when my dad forgot to get off of I65 onto I71 and we just drove it all the way to Michigan and then cut across. And once when Terry and I forgot to get off at the same place, but we figured it out right away and turned around. ;D  Terry had to go to an auction sale somewhere around Indianapolis about 15 yrs ago or so.  That's about it.

Did I ever say that our pastor is from Tell City?  They are always going back up there for revivals and such.

Here I am at a City computer.  Just thought I'd check in while everyone is on their coffee break from this meeting.

Hope you are all keeping well.

Get out and take a photo and then share it with us.

Has the Lord blessed you today?

So, Carl, how long will we have to go without seeing a post by you?  I hope it isn't very long.

Please hurry back.

Thanks, Larry.  It will be nice if some of the CP folks notice that I'm not here!  ;)

I have been running full speed all day today.  Lots of things to get done in preparation for being away that long.  We took our garden--literally!  to a friend, to water while we are away.  Helps that everything is in pots!  :)  In this heat, things wouldn't survive for one week.  I still have a few calls to make, but got most things taken care of, I think.

Pat, are you on the City Council or something?  Or just interested in a particular issue they are discussing?  Darrel and I voted by absentee ballot in our primary, which will be August 2nd.  One big issue is whether to build a new care home or spend 4.5 million redoing the present one.  We have TEN men running for county commisioner, for two slots!!  Most of them, I wouldn't vote for for street sweeper.  I didn't have to choose, though, as our district's position isn't up for election this time around.

I am wondering how much the world will change in three weeks.......we may be meeting in heaven before then!

Farewell, all of you!  Please stay well, and God bless each one of you.

i'm home  :)

the Crosswalk trip was good- we all had tons of fun, and so did the kids. i'm glad to be home though, especially after the drive last night ending at 1:30am. i slept in late this morning but i don't think i'm caught up on my sleep yet. in about a week and a half, we're doing something like this again in Pittsburgh, PA. i'm happy for the little break.

i've skimmed most of the past posts since i've been gone, Marilyn I hope you're doing better. when i played soccer, i was a goalie and had a girl run it to me tearing all of the muscles in my left shoulder and clavicle. tons of chiropractor appointments and ice and heat for a good 6 months. but i do pray you will be all better soon.

hope everyone else is doing well also. back in this heat streak again, blech. the forecast for here is in the 90's most of the week, with some insane humidity which is guaranteeing some good storms.

with love,
candice

I hope that Janet has a wonderful trip.  I'm sorry I've been involved in meetings and didn't get a chance to say "Farewell" to her.

Time to lock the door.
