Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

How To Grasp Eternity

    Revelation 21:3-6 says...

    And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

    And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

    And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

    And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

    [/list]

      1 Corinthians 2:9-11 says...

      But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

      But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

      For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

      Morning Devotional...

      The Shepherd's Psalm--
      Part (v)

      The Lord is my shepherd;
      I shall not want.
      He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
      He leads me beside the still waters.
      He restores my soul;
      He leads me in the paths of righteousness
      For His name's sake.
      Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
      I will fear no evil;
      For You are with me;
      Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

      You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
      You anoint my head with oil;
      My cup runs over.
      Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
      All the days of my life;
      And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
      Forever.
      [/i][/b]

      Not far from the city of Guelph, in the valley of the Eramosa River, nestles a neat little hamlet of rough hewn houses. By Ontario standards, this pretty little place is quite old. Although there is no need for me to do so, I occasionally drive through this sleepy place on my way to or from our local major highway.

      Who were the first settlers? What was their life like? What were their aspirations and hopes, joys and sorrows? To try to find an answer to these and other intriguing questions, I decided one day, a few summers ago, to explore the necropolis that surrounds the hamlet's only church. I found that the mortal remains of several generations of Presbyterians lie awaiting the resurrection morning beneath the cold clay. Well kept tomb stones declare their names, and in some cases their faith in the Saviour of sinners. A few of the head stones record something of their long forgotten lives and exploits.

      One old block of granite records that the two interred beneath were born in the north of Ireland in the last century, married there and emigrated to this part of the world. Underneath the descriptive words, a verse of Scripture is quoted:

      "These are they which came out of great tribulation and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
      Revelation 7:14"

      As I read this inscription a lump seemed to form in my throat and a wee tear appeared in the corner of my eye.

      Probably I shall never know this side of eternity what this couple suffered. The heartaches they felt, the broken dreams, sadness, pain or penury they endured as they struggled on in a new land are now veiled in history. The vicissitudes experienced in a harsh environment are not etched in the dark grave stone. The words "came out of great tribulation"   can only point back to excessive trial and hardship; to dark days and desperation.

      When the Psalmist said: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death" (Psalm 23:4), he must have had some awful tribulation in mind. Days of dark despair and drowning disappointment had been his lot.

      The old Jewish Targum interprets Psalm 23:4 to be a prophetic reference to the horrors of the Jewish captivity in Babylon, while Aben Ezra says it speaks of grievous calamities.

      John Gill, in his commentary, explains it this way: "Afflictions attend the people of God in this life; there is a continued series of them, so that they may be said to walk in them; these are the way in which they walk to heaven, and through which they enter the kingdom; for though they continue long, and one affliction comes after another, yet there will be an end at last; they will walk and wade through them, and come out of great tribulations."

      Perhaps you, my friend, are experiencing great tribulation. Do you see yourself as captive to circumstances? Do you know what it is to suffer deep affliction? Do you feel deserted and alone? Does trouble come upon trouble like the rolling of mighty waves at high tide against a storm tossed ship, near a rocky shore. Then the rest of this verse is meant for you if you are one of the sheep of the Lord's flock:

      "I will fear no evil; For you are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."

      If we know the Good Shepherd; the one who gave His life for the sheep, we need not fear the evils of time and circumstance. He is Sovereign in all His ways. He knows our every need. He has experienced while walking as a Man among men the heartache, sorrow and trials common to humankind. If we understand His Sovereign power as God Eternal, and His sympathy as our High Priest, we will be enabled to declare with King Solomon, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe."[/i] (Proverbs 18:10 NKJV).

      There is an old much loved hymn based on Psalm 31:15:

      My times are in Thy hand;
      My God, I wish them there;
      My life, my soul, my all, I leave
      Entirely to Thy care.

      My times are in Thy hand;
      Whatever they may be;
      Pleasing or painful, dark or bright,
      As best may seem to Thee.

      My times are in Thy hand
      Why should I doubt or fear?
      A father's hand will never cause
      His child a needless tear.

      My times are in Thy hand,
      Jesus, the Crucified!
      The hand my many sins have pierced
      Is now my guard and guide.

      My times are in Thy hand,
      Jesus, my advocate!
      Nor can that hand be stretched in vain
      For me to supplicate.
      [/b] [/i]

      Yes, He is with us all the way, not only in the coveted "Mountain top experiences" but also in the dark and dismal valleys of despair and death.

      Our dear Shepherd is always armed with two implements: "His rod and His staff".   In old times the rod was used to defend the flock from wild animals and thieves, and one day He will use that rod on the enemies of truth and Zion's King will be seen to reign in righteousness. We who are His elect own His royal rule in time. In eternity His Kingship and glory will also be manifested to those who hate Him. They, too, will recognize Him but, oh, too late! Even now He uses the rod to defend His believing people from dangers both seen and uncomprehended.

      The second implement He carries is the staff, the purpose of which was to direct the sheep. Sometimes the sheep would rather go their own way but have to be forced to travel in paths that lead them safely home. Their path of choice would lead to places of danger and ruin, but the path of the shepherd's choosing leads to the peace and security of green pastures and the still waters.

      Well may we with David pray, "Uphold my steps in Your paths, That my footsteps may not slip." (Psalm 17:5 NKJV).

      Let's retrace our steps to the old grave yard and take one more look at the stone which held our attention. Let's read the last part of the inscription once more "and have washed their robes and made them white in the Blood of the Lamb". Only those on the pilgrimage of life who have washed their robes in the blood of Calvary's Lamb will come safely through. None of those who are "blood washed" will ever perish. That is why they can say "I will fear no evil".

      Have you been to Calvary's fountain and have you by faith been cleansed of your sin? If the answer is "Yes", then you have the Royal right to appropriate the words of Psalm 23:4 "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." If you are His by sovereign grace, then God, the Holy Spirit inspired the Psalmist to write these words for your blessing, reassurance and comfort.

      Howdy folks.  I have been so busy with the church website , dance and getting pictures ready of this little girl I took pictures of.  If you want you can go to my website, click on portraits and see a few of the shots I took of her.

      I will remain busy all week.

      I can't believe we haven't had time to get our bikes out of storage and go on a bike ride.  :(  We will have to do that this weekend.  Chandraya really misses the little rides she had in her pull along trailer.

      I am still thinking of you all.

      Installing Love

      Customer Service: Can you install Love?

      Customer: I can do that. I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready to
      install now. What do I do first?

      Service: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your Heart?

      Customer: Yes, I have, but there are several programs running right now. Is
      it okay to install while they are running?

      Service: What programs are running?

      Customer: Let me see... I have Pasthurt.exe, Lowesteem.exe, Grudge.exe and
      Resentment.com running right now.

      Service: No problem. Love will automatically erase Pasthurt.exe from your
      current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it
      will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually overwrite
      Lowesteem.exe with a module of its own, called Highesteem.exe. However, you
      have to completely turn off Grudge.exe and Resentment.com. Those programs
      prevent Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off?

      Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

      Service: My pleasure. Go to your Start menu and invoke Forgiveness.exe. Do
      this as many times as necessary until Grudge.exe and Resentment.com have
      been completely erased.

      Customer: Okay, I'm done. Love has started installing itself automatically.
      Is that normal?

      Service: Yes it is. You should receive a message that says it will reinstall
      for the life of your Heart. Do you see that message?

      Customer: Yes I do. Is it completely installed?

      Service: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to
      begin connecting to other Hearts to get the upgrades.

      Customer: Oops... I have an error message already. What should I do?

      Service: What does the message say?

      Customer: It says "Error 412 - Program not run on internal components."

      What does that mean?

      Service: Don't worry, that's a common problem. It means that the Love
      program is set up to run on external Hearts but has not yet been running on
      your Heart. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in
      non-technical terms it means that you have to "love" your own machine before
      it can "love" others.

      Customer: So what should I do?

      Service: Can you find the directory called "Self-acceptance"?

      Customer: Yes, I have it.

      Service: Excellent, you are getting good at this.

      Customer: Thank you.

      Service: You're welcome. Click on the following files and then copy them to
      the "Myheart" directory: Forgiveself.doc, Selfesteem.txt, Realizeworth.txt
      and Goodness.doc. The system will overwrite conflicting files and begin
      patching any faulty programming. Also, you need to delete
      "Selfcriticize.exe" from all directories, and then empty your recycle bin
      afterwards to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

      Customer: Got it! Wow! My Heart is filling up with really neat files.
      Smile.mpg is playing on my monitor right now, and it shows that Warmth.com,
      Peace.exe and Contentment.com are copying themselves all over my Heart!

      Service: Then Love is installed and running. You should be able to handle it
      from here. One more thing before I go...

      Customer: Yes?

      Service: Love is freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to
      everybody you are meeting. They will in turn share it with other people, and
      they will return some really neat modules back to you.

      Customer: I will. Thank you for your help.

      Service: You're very welcome.

      MATTHEW 7 : 28-29 NIV
      When Jesus had finished saying these things,
      the crowds were amazed at His teaching,
      because He taught as one who had authority,
      and not as their teachers of the law.

      Unlike the teachers of His day, Jesus didn't have to shore up His teaching
      with obscure quotes from past teachers.
      Jesus, the Word of God, spoke the very words of God.
      He did and said what the Father willed.
      His life and His words had ring of authenticity and a awareness of power
      that extend trough the ages and beckon us to His truth.
      This Jesus, our Teacher and Lord, is different.
      His words are powerfull.
      His teachings are true.
      So His will must be our passion!

      PRAYER...
      Holy God, thank you for speaking through Your prophets
      and through Your Scriptures.
      But Father, i praise You for speaking Your greatest message in Jesus.
      As i see the character of His life, i am drawn to you.
      As i hear the authenticity in His words, i seek to humbly obley.
      Thank You for sending Jesus to be my teacher, my guide, my Lord, and my Saviour.
      It is in His name, Jesus, that i pray. AMEN.

      Janet

      Greetings!  Last evening we took Abby home, as Darrel wanted to meet with the Scouts about Scuba Diving.  When we got there, Jeff, Curtis and Mark were having dinner.  I commented that I was a bit surprised they had cooked dinner and sat down to eat together.  They were surprised at my comment and said "Old habits die hard.  What else would we do?"  But so many families never sit down to eat a meal together any more, and I wonder when they ever talk to each other, or catch up on each other's lives.  We always talk at mealtimes, and I am so proud of the way Jeff and Diane are raising the kids.  And when they finished, Mark and Darrel left for Scouts, Jeff and Curtis cleaned off the table and did the dishes!  Jeff said he didn't want Diane to come home to a sinkful of dirty dishes.  Gotta love him!

      Diane did get home just as we were leaving, and it was good to see her home safe and sound.  Abby and I worked on projects for her to enter in the fair.  We made candles, and did sand painting pictures.  She didn't want me to leave her there, and was crying as we drove away. :'(  She has ceramics class today, so Diane wanted her home for that.

      Pat, we are waiting for a report on your tests, when you get it.  Praying it will be GOOD.

      I need to look for rooms in Lubbock, for next week when we take Beth there.  See you later!

      Hi everyone.  I didn't get back here yesterday and have had a busy morning.  Beyond the usual walking at the "Y" and coffee at the cafe, I came home and put on my painting cloths and painted the 8 frames I built with the undercoat.  Tomorrow should be able to put on the final coat and hopefully the next day put on the wire and then install the frames on my screened porch.  It will staill be several days as have to pace myself.  Worked a couple of hours this morning and now feel the need to get some rest this afternoon.

      We begin our choir practice tonight and will be singing on Sunday.  I have missed choir practice.

      Pat is at the church helping fold the newsletter and then plans to go out to lunch with several ladies from her Bible study group.

      Carol, it is nice to see you posting from your vacation spot.

      Pat, the Revelation quote today is such a powerful and wonderful one.  Also appreciate your sharing Jack's writings again.  Hope your tests have gone well today.

      Ria, glad to read that you are feeling better today.  I used to have migrance headaches but after my arteries hardened a bit I no longer suffer them.  The same thing happened to my grandfather and father.

      Gareth, that is a great piece and contains a lot of wisdom.

      Janet, it sounds like your grandchildren have been well raised and are a joy to their parents (and I know they are to the grandparents).  Quite a compliment from Abby that she was in tears when you left her at home.

      Marilyn, sounds like you have a very weak ankle.  Have you sprained or broken it in the past?

      Sonja, I took a quick peak at your website and it looks like a good start.  I know that setting up and maintaining a website is a lot of work but worth the effort.  What are your boys doing this summer?

      Judy, good to see you posting and do hope you are feeling better.

      I feel that nap coming on so bye for now.

      Oh, so many postings; don't think I can read them all but will try.

      Whew!  This day is not turning out the way I planned it.  I was looking at the User Manual for my GPS and saw that I could update my software from the net.  I went to the website and first you had to CLEAR MEMORY on the GPS.  That takes out all the waypoints.  Then I did the step-by-step to download and then it said something to the effect that my receiver wasn't compatible.  I thought maybe it was because my batteries were less than 50% so I went to Ivalou's to see if she had 2 new AA batteries.  She wasn't home.  So I went to my Kaye Don's....a convenience of family living close.  I got the batteries.  That wasn't the problem.  I had to initialize the GPS and set the compass again.  So it is ready to go back in the car with no updating.

      Then Ivalou came home and came over.  Right now I have bacon in my GF grill for bacon and tomato sandwich.  Yummmm!

      Gotta go....I smell bacon!

      We must all be having busy days today!  I went to the drugstore to get meds for Beth and Darrel, then to Alco for some things Beth needed.  Since I wasn't in a particular hurry, I did some browsing while I was there.  Have you looked at the school supplies lately??  It almost makes me wish I were back in school!  They have so many pretty things---all sorts of pens and pencils, fancy notebooks with pretty (or ugly) covers, pencil boxes, backpacks, Mirrors with magnets for their lockers.............and lots of stuff I'm not remembering right now.  Fun!  Remember when we started to school with two yellow pencils and a Big Chief tablet?  :) (I know---I'm dating myself!)

      While browsing, I found a few scrapbooking supplies on sale, and now I'm in the mood to go work on that for a while.  I want to get all the photos from the family reunion put into an album, so I can share it at the next reunion.  I also need to get another reunion letter out.

      I hope all of you are having a great day today!

      Dear friends, we have a wonderful Heavenly Father.  He knows our needs and speaks to someone who will help with that need.

      Just wanted to share with you a gift I received today!  It was so much fun to open the envelope--or at least after I opened it, the fun started!

      It was crammed full of little glittery stars, confetti, and all sorts of litte things--hundreds of them and some I managed to save but some got in my coffee I was drinking, some went down my neck, most got spilled on the coffee table and the floor and some covered Geordie and Lauren!  It was so funny to see.

      There was a lovely card inside all of this fun and the verse reads:

      There are times in our lives
      when the world seems to shift.
      We value, in one clear instant,
      the blessing of days
      we once thought of as ordinary~

      and we suddenly know
      that what most truly enriches us
      are the friends we love,who love us in return.

      This is one of those times.
      YOU are one of those friends.

      If you're looking in, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

      YOU are very special.

      Oh PAT!!  I know that feeling, too.  One day last fall when things seemed to be crashing around me I received a card in the mail full of blessings too!  God bless you and God bless our friends!
      Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

      When We See Christ
      (Click to hear music)

      "It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you." I Titus 2:12-15

      By Esther Kerr Rusthoi

      Oft times the day seems long, our trials hard to bear,
      We're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair;
      But Christ will soon appear to catch His Bride away,
      All tears forever over in God's eternal day.

      Refrain

      It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
      Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
      One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
      So bravely run the race 'til we see Christ.

      Sometimes the sky looks dark with not a ray of light,
      We're tossed and driven on, no human help in sight;
      But there is One in heaven who knows our deepest care,
      Let Jesus solve your problem--just go to Him in prayer.

      Refrain

      Life's day will soon be o'er, all storms forever past,
      We'll cross the great divide to glory, safe at last.
      We'll share the joys of heaven--a harp, a home, a crown.
      The tempter will be banished, we'll lay our burden down.

      Thanks Jane...  This truly was a gift from our Heavenly Father at a time when it was most needed.

      But the fun involved opening it I'll never forget.  Even Geordie got some of the little glittery things all over him!  He wondered what was happening.

      I'm still giggling!

      Hello everyone.  I came on this morning to read the devotional (thanks for another encouragement Pat) and was planning on posting later, but couldn't log on to any site at all.  It's late now so I will just thank everyone for the fellowship in here today.  It has been great.  I particularly liked the installation instructions from Gareth and it was nice to read that Pat had an unexpected blessing through the post.  Sonja, I couldn't get on to your website, but it might be my computer, I don't know.  Sorry to miss so many people, I am ready for bed.  God bless and thanks again for the fellowship.

      Anthony.

      Strange, Jeanne.  I got the site a little earlier just fine.  Maybe the ISP is hiccuping!

      It's a great job that Soni and the others are doing too.

      Pat,
      thank you for that wonderful song "When we see Christ".    I have sung that song solo many times.  It has touched me tonight.   I don't have a piano now and my sterio isn't too good so I really miss Christian music.   When I started to play it my big cat jumped up on my knee.   He usually doesn't do that but it seems that my cats love music just like me.

      I have been digging and planting.  Today all the big chunks of grass that was dug up for my new tree, I put at the back where there is no grass.  I watered it and am hoping it starts growing in its new place.

      Pat, I'm so glad you got a surprise card and gift.   That was funny about all the stickers.  Say woof woof to Geordie.

      Love Ruthie
