Morning Devotional...

All the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made while she was with them.
Acts 9:39

Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

What a blessing to have godly sisters in our assemblies!

How often their practical input into our homes, families and assemblies goes unnoticed. They enrich our lives in so many ways!

It is sad if we wait until they have gone before we give them recognition.

Encourage a sister today!

OOPS!  Pat locked the door just as I was reaching for the knob! :-\  But I wanted to say I'm happy that Marilyn got the care poor Gitsie needed, and that thing about maggots???  YUCK!!  My Dad always thought they meant big trouble, when he found maggots on the cows, in wounds of any sort.  But then, I have read recently that they are using leeches again, too, and saying they are good medicine.  As Marilyn said, "Who woulda thunk it??"

I had a great time judging today, but when I went to my car to come home, I found I had a flat tire!  The way the car was parked I couldn't change it, because the slope was so steep the car would have fallen off the jack!  So I called the Co-op and they sent their "flat-out" truck, the guy put air into the tire so I could move the car, then took off the tire, took it to the shop and repaired it, brought it back and put it on.  Very nice......but it cost $25.00.  He said it had a rock in it, that looked like an arrow head!  Some way to find an arrow head, huh?  And I didn't even get to keep it!  (He didn't bring it back with him! ;))

We went to Hugoton this evening so Darrel could talk to the Boy Scouts about the Scuba classes we will be doing for them, and Diane, Abby and I went to a relative of theirs to pick sweet corn.  He lent us his big 4-wheeler to drive into the field.......that was fun!~  And the corn is really nice, too!  Want to come over for a corn roast??  I know Pat loves corn!

It is late, and swim time will come soon, so this ol' girl better get to bed!

You mean you have a hill in Kansas, Janet?  Huh?

Yep, I love corn.  Mine's all frozen!

Pat ~ I want to take the gondola ride but Ivalou is still thinking about it.

Marilyn ~ I am so glad that Gitsie is better.  Yes, who would have thunk it?  Maggots for cleaning?  Yuck!

Jo ~ I have read that puppy story before.  Isn't it wonderful and so cute.  Oh, to be a kid again.

Karma ~ Are you still doing the Mary Kay stuff?  I don't see how you have time to do all you do.  Didja give Travis a hug for me?

Since I had a nap this afternoon I'm not sleepy yet.  The dryer just quit anyway.  Maybe sleep will get here soon.

Etta -- Consider Trabman sufficiently hugged!  Yep, I'm still doing Mary Kay.  I am by no means earning a pink caddy (YET), but am slowly building my business.  I have several customers wanting to have classes over the next couple of weeks.

I didn't know there were hills in Kansas either.  I think she was dreaming, or sumtin.

Nitey night all!

Since it rained so much last night, I couldn't go to the 'veranda' for quiet time and coffee, so I decided to come to NEM.
I liked the devotional this morning..I think often about Susannah Wesley and her many children. It is said that she took up time with each of them every day on a one-to-one basis. Then I remember reading about how she prayed putting her apron over her head so she could be alone.
Another sister in Christ would be Fanny Crosby.  She was blessed in her testimony of songs to so many.
I am looking forward to seeing both of these saints.

Good morning, I'll be driving to Atlanta today. Hope to bring news about the baby tomorrow.

If you would, please remember the request I made to pray with me about a private matter. Our God is able - that I know.

Love to you all

Good morning all!
Another beautiful hot summer day in Southwest Florida. Had another storm come in late evening. Such awesome cloud formations!

I wish I had more time to address each person individually, but morning time before work just isn't long enough. I do hope you understand and know that I am praying for every need and rejoicing with every blessing I read about here.

When I think of Godly Sister in Christ, I think of the women on this site who have taken the time to write and encourage me.

I think of the single mom, Susan Cruz, who brought me to church 11 years ago and who God used to bring me His gift of salvation.

I think of the many women in the church I was attending who were stronger in thier walk than I , who had many responsibilities at home and within the church, yet who still took the time to counsel me in my tender years as a new believer.

With each name that pops into my head,(and there are many),  I say a prayer of thanks to my Father in Heaven for weaving our lives together, and I ask Him to bless each one in a special way.

Good morning everyone, what a busy day yesterday!

Mom, you can't go unless you take me along!

Judy Mc-I think you're right, ice is better for swelling.

Marilyn-how go the new jobs?

Karmat-aren't you supposed to make up a funny story if you don't have one already?  ;)

Ken-good to see you posting lately, hope we see more of you.

Ruth-It will be good if you bring news of the baby!  How exciting!

Sorry if I've missed many people, as I'm sure I have.  I think I'm having a brain lapse!  Jen.

Etta Sue

Good morning again.  Ivalou just left and I just remembered that I was doing my morning Bible reading when she came over.  I must remember to finish that.

Ali iscloserthanthis to me lately.  She is on the desk in front of the monitor.  I tell her to lay down and she does.  I can't see over her if she doesn't and even then sometimes her big tail is straight up in front of the monitor.  She is a sweetie.

Today is mowing day after lunch.  We have been having such heavy dews lately....humidity very high.  You get a good feet washing just walking across the grass.  I did trim some low branches this morning.  After the mowing, I am going to clean up and go get Jerry's bills and help him write out the checks.  It's that time again!

My thoughts will be with all my special friends on CP today.  You are my rock.  You keep me grounded and sane.  Through God, I can do anything and you all reassure me of that.

Marilyn

Good Morning. Pat: thank you for he devotional this morning. It reminds me of the many sisters I have met during my 5 year walk with the Lord. One is particular is my friend Kitty. She took me in when I had no place to go and gave me a place to stay and helped me get a job. She was the Lord's instrument to get me back on my feet again after the trying times I had been through.

She and I had been best friends ever since. I miss her a lot.

Another is my prayer Partner Inez, I really miss her, we didn't see each other often but spoke on the phone every day. Please remember she needs travel mercies today and for the next couple of days as she moves to Oklahoma from California.

Thanks for all the encouragement about Gitsie. I have her soaking under a warm towel to keep the drains from scabbing up. That little bugger tries to bite me every time I get close to her. Difficult to get her medicine in her. Will try wrapping it in boiled chicken. Yes I spoil them.

I have an appointment  at the Caregiver Office this morning to  take care of my paperwork. The class alst night was very good. It was an overview of the expectations of us a caregivers. Tomorrow night with will be on nutrition and saftey of the client. and safety for ourselves.

Hi everyone.  When I got up this morning at sunrise it was clear and nice but it has now clouded up and there is light rain in the area.

Pat, the devotional this morning makes me think of the women who have certainly influenced my life starting with a grandmother that I loved so much whose arms were always open wide whenever she saw us and that was usually once a day.  I also think of my Mother who always had time for my sister and I and saw to it that we were able to take music lessons, get to church every Sunday, be active in 4-H work and that we didn't miss any school activities in which we were involved.  As an adult I look back on my youth and now realize what a job that was for her as well as her many responsibilities on the farm.  She never complained.  Then I think of my loving wife who has been my best friend for the last almost 44 years.  She has always been there for me and supported me.  I could name others but will stop with these three.

Marilyn, glad you were able to get your dog fixed up hope that a few days of healing will restore the dog to its healthy condition.

Karmat, it sounds like what you will be helping with in working with post abortion women is certainly needed in your community and you are to be commended for taking an active role.

Ruth Ann, hope you have an enjoyable tript o Atlanta and know you are excited about the new baby.

Janet, that was an expensive flat tire.  It seems everything related to an automobile gets more expensive all the time.  However, sure you were glad to be able to get someone to give you the assistance.

Papa John, hope you are feeling better today.  I do miss it when you don't post.

It is good to read the postings from Jo, Jen, Paulette, Kathy, and Etta Sue as well as those from all who posted yesterday.

Kathy

Marilyn, I would love to hear more about your Caregiver Class.  Is it something like being a Nurses' Aid? or is it something like
being able to go into homes and help with the care of someone who is unable to do it him/herself.  I may be interested in doing something like this when I retire from my full-time job in a couple of years.  We do have a volunteer program for Hospice in this area that requires pre-training classes.
I hope that Gitsie will take her meds.

I just KNEW someone would say something about "Kansas has a hill??"   :) ;) :D ;D :-\  Welllll......it wasn't a hill---it was a ditch!  and my car was sort of straddling it, with the front wheels on the upward slope!  I parked there because there was shade!  There was a whole line of cars there, but mine had the only flat tire. :( >:(  I thought that was a mite high for fixing a flat, but my only comment was "Wow!" when he handed me the bill. :-\

Actually, Kansas does have some hills.  Have you heard of Mt. Sunflower?  I will have to tell you about it sometime, when I have the information I need close at hand.

I will post an update on Beth in the prayer thread.  She did not come home with good news. :(

I need to help Darrel with some building chores this morning, so will see you later, dear ones!

Kathy, the caregiver is someone who goes into the home and care for the persons needs that they can no longer do for themselves. It entails (but not always), light housekeeping, transportation to the sotre or the doctors office, preparation of meals or helping them to prepapre a meal, making sure they take their meds, helping them to walk  or to bath, being a loving companion to them if they need some one to talk to.

Praying with them if they will accept your prayers.Maybe even reading to them from the Bible. Fixing their hair or applying their makeup.  If they have had a stroke you have to help them to help themselves because they have been trained on how to help themself. that is hjust a few of the  tings  you would be  doing. It is very fulfilling to be able to help someone else.
I really enjoy it.

 6p.m.England.

Sorry to be late posting today but it was a special day for me here and I've had lots of visitors....all my family and grandsons and a dear Godly sister from ch urch popped in.

I am thinking of Ruth Ann...at her vigil .  Please God let all go well for Mother and baby.

Marilyn, I'm glad things are settling down now with Gitsie and hope Bebe will be alright again soon.

It's a pleasant evening here...we've had some rain, so everything is nice and fresh.

God bless all who pop in today,
Jenny.

Good afternoon all!  I am at work, pretending to do what I need to do.  Actually, I am just taking a short break.

I have read the posts, but don't have time to respond to all right now, because  I did want to share this "story" I heard on the radio this morning.  I obviously don't remember exactly how it was phrased, but this is the general idea(Turning Point).

Today was the big day.  Friends and family had joined at the church to watch the union of this special couple.  It seems as if everyone in town was there.  The rows were full, the balcony was full, there were even people standing outside looking in.

The church was elaborately decorated with flowers and candles, and it was a truly a sight to behold.  Nothing more beautiful had been seen before.

As the organist began the anthem, the groomsmen and his attendants took their place in the front.  A collective sigh went up at his handsomeness and splendor.  Never had a groom looked so wonderful.  Whispers in the crowd talked about what a wonderful man he was, how much love he had, and how there was no other like him.

The organist changed tunes, and the doors at the back opened.  The congregation stood and turned, straining to see the bride.  As she walked through the door, a gasp was heard from everyone.  The organist lost his place and stumbled over the keys.  Standing there, waiting to enter was the bride.  Her dress was dirty, stained and tore.  It left no room for modesty.  Her hair was stringy and dirty.  In parts, it looked like it had literally been torn out.  Her exposed legs and arms were a mess of purple and blue brushes and gashes.  She had no shoes on.  Her face was a shame to look upon.  Swollen lips, a bloody broken nose, and puffy yellow/blue/purple blood shot eyes looked out from under the ripped veil.

The congregation looked down in shame.  Surely this young man deserved better.  He who was unspoiled deserved the most beautiful pure bride imaginable.

But alas, Jesus' bride, the church, had been fighting again.

Hmmm, made me think.  We, as a church, should surely be different from the world, I think.

That story made me think about a local church and the Christian lives harmed by gossip and lack of love.  What sadness God must feel !

The devotional was great and made me remember when my daughter was in High School and we attended a church that had a 'Girls Group' for teenagers.  It was run by an older single lady who never had children and worked full time in a Doctor's office.  She was never too busy or tired to plan lessons, crafts and interesting things for the kids.  They absolutely loved her and this was in the '70's when our city was filled with rebellion and drugs.  Ivy led many girls to Jesus and will always be remembered by many kids who did not know love outside of that church.  Have a happy day and God Bless.  Liz

Pat, Jo, Janet and Mercychild Thank-you all...lovely end to a great day.

I've had a wonderful time full of nice surprises, gifts etc., and after a super day with my daughter and her three youngest sons, my eldest grandson Phillip came in with a lovely present for me. He'd chosen and paid for this  himself.....a china Yorkshire Terrier dog in a wellington boot plus a lovely spray of freesias...my favourite flowers.  The lounge smells full of the scent now.......I shed some tears I can tell you!. Phillip's 16 and starts work soon as a trainee chef.  He has a part-time job in an hotel already.   Doesn't time fly?

Well dear Ones, I am tired and off to my bed now but I did want to close this happy day with love to you all.
I pray that God will multiply this blessing to you all.

Jo......  You are doing very well. I am proud to know you and  I'm glad you are with us here in this little family. It's a long uphill climb for you. You are a brave lady. Know this.... Our Lord Jesus will not let you go....He has carved you in the palm of His hand.......I will e mail you soon. X.

Thanks Al.....

The latecomer is welcome to the feast.  Your lamp is trimmed.

Goodnight, Godbless.

Busy day for me today. I had to go to Eureka to the Caregiver Registry, they sent me to DMV for a printout, back to the CR then to The Senior program to drop of a voided check so I can have direct deposit.

Back home to change my clothes, eat lunch and check on Gitsie. On to work. whew!! By the time I  came home from work Gitise had left a big wet spot on the rug for me to clean up, Thank you  Jesus that she finally went, I was worried about her.

I am skipping Bible study, I have to shower and wash my hair for tomorrow and I want to give some special attention the each of the dogs especially Gitsie. That is if she will let me, then her meds will come too.
