Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

God's love is as great as it is beyond human logic.

Why should He--in His holiness, righteousness and perfection--love a sinful, fallen, rebellious creation?

To perish is what we deserved, to Pass Eternally Ruined Into Satan's Habitation.

But God loves us! He wants us to be with Him. He wants us to have everlasting life, not everlasting punishment, and Calvary is the proof and measure of that love!

We worship Him with humble, grateful hearts for His great love.
--Carl Knott

The Love of God
(Click to hear music)

The Love of God is greater far
than tongue or pen could ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
and reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His son to win
His erring child He reconciled
and pardoned from his sin.

Chorus
Oh, Love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
the saints' and angels' song.

Could we with ink the oceans fill
and were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on Earth a quill
and every man a scribe by trade:
To write the Love of God above
would drain the oceans dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
tho stretched from sky to sky.

Chorus

When worlds of time shall pass away
and Earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray
on rocks and hills and mountains call,
God's Love so sure shall still endure
all measureless and strong,
Redeeming grace to Adam's race
the saints' and angels' song.

~The Love of God

Frederick M. Lehman, author and composer, wrote a pamphlet, in 1948, entitled History of the Song, The Love of God. It tells about the origin of this beloved hymn—

While at camp-meeting in a mid-western state, some fifty years ago in our early ministry, an evangelist climaxed his message by quoting the last stanza of this song. The profound depths of the line moved us to preserve the words for future generations.

Not until we had come to California did this urge find fulfillment, and that at a time when circumstances forced us to hard manual labor.

One day, during short intervals of inattention to our work, we picked up a scrap of paper and, seated upon an empty lemon box pushed against the wall, with a stub pencil, added the (first) two stanzas and chorus of the song.

Since the lines (3rd stanza from the Jewish poem) had been found penciled on the wall of a patient's room in an insane asylum, the general opinion was that this inmate had written the epic in moments of sanity.

Actually, the key-stanza (third verse) under question as to its authorship was written nearly one thousand years ago by a Jewish songwriter, and put on the score page by F.M. Lehman, a Gentile songwriter, in 1917.

Nice devotional, Pat.  Thanks.  It reminds me of the song:  Pick yourself up, Dust yourself off, And start all over again....can't remember the name.  Life is pretty much that way.  A minister friend once said that if we have had a bad time, draw a line in the sand and start again from that point on...Don't go back...go forward.

Was extremely tired today and thought to have a quick nap at 3PM...didn't wake until 7PM.  Guess all the stress of the past while simply caught up with me.  I normally don't even take naps!!

Hope that you feel better Larry.  Golly, you work so hard at so many things.  Could be a long nap would help.

Janet, Wendy did see her Grandmother.  Thanks for asking.  It was a very unpleasant visit, filled with emotional problems, due to her father.  I can only believe that God has a reason and her visit was definately meant to happen.  At least her Grandmother knows how much she is loved.  Sometimes all one can do is try, then walk away and pray for God to do His will.  Evil cannot be conquered by evil.  We must overcome evil by good....

It is 11.30 at night and my nap is keeping sleep away.  Read a cute joke...not religious, but something all pet lovers may find amusing:

QuoteHow to give a cat a pill

1. Grasp cat firmly in your arms. Cradle its head on your elbow, just as if you were giving baby a bottle. Coo confidently, "Thats a nice kitty."
Drop pill into its mouth.

2. Retrieve cat from top of lamp, and pill from under sofa.

3. Follow same procedure as in 1, but hold cat's front paws down with left hand and back paws down with elbow of right arm. Poke pill into its mouth with right forefinger.

4. Retrieve cat from under bed. Get new pill from bottle. (Resist impulse to get new cat.)

5. Again proceed as in 1, except when you have cat firmly cradled in bottle-feeding position, sit down on edge of chair, fold your torso over cat, bring your right hand over your left elbow, open cat's mouth by lifting the upper jaw and pop the pill in - quickly. Since your head is down by your knees, you won't be able to see what you're doing. That's just as well.

6. Leave cat hanging on drapes. Leave pill in your hair.

7. If you're a woman, have a good cry. If you're a man, have a good cry.

8. Now pull yourself together. Who's the boss here anyway? Retrieve cat and pill. Assuming position 1, say sternly, "Who's the boss here, anyway?" Open cat's mouth, take pill and...Oooops!

9. This isn't working, is it? Collapse and think. Aha! Those flashing claws are causing the chaos.

10. Crawl to linen closet. Drag back large beach towel. Spread towel on floor.

11. Retrieve cat from kitchen counter and pill from potted plant.

12. Spread cat on towel near one end with its head over long edge.

13. Flatten cat's front and back legs over its stomach. (Resist impulse to flatten cat.)

14. Roll cat in towel. Work fast; time and tabbies wait for no man-or woman.

15. Resume position 1. Rotate your left hand to cat's head. Press its mouth at the jaw hinges like opening the petals of a snapdragon.

16. Drop pill into cat's mouth and poke gently. Voila! It's done.

17. Vacuum up loose fur (cat's). Apply bandages to wounds (yours).

18. Take two aspirins and lie down.

::) :) :) :)

Happy Birthday Jenny.  I still pray for you and your family.

Pleasant dreams all and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Carol

Happy Birthday Jenny  It is good to see you posting.  You are a true advertisement for someone who never gives up!!!

Larry:  I hope your throat is better today.

We are happy but exhausted after a trying day.  We were pounced on by three men right in broad daylight on busy street here in Brussels.  One man grabbed Don's wallet and ran one direction.  Another tried to get my purse but didn't - (I have a purple hand and Don has a slight cut on his wrist).  So - we lost about $200 & credit cards but the good Lord sent angels to help us through this and we can go to the bank on Monday and write a check - I carried half of our money in an over-the-neck wallet.  The city police told us that the attacks are getting worse and sending people to hospital with neck injuries - we are so thankful that we were not hit that hard.  So, a prayer of thanks for being here.  Carol

Pat

Ohhhh, Carol!   I was just on SeniorNet and saw your post in the Cafe and I feel so terrible that you and Don went through this.  What a terrible thing to happen!  I'm so glad that you both are alright though--health-wise!  Take care!  I'm so glad that you had yours around your neck under your clothing.  Oh, dear... we can never be too careful.  Thanks for sharing.  I can't tell you how happy I am that you can check in here with all of us while you're in Brussels.  I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm so sorry that the visit to grandmother was so traumatic for poor Wendy, Liz.  This truly is a sad happening.    You sure brought a smile to my face about giving a cat a pill.  How true!

Hi to both Marilyn and Ruthie!

Well, I've had an almost sleepless night.  It's been raining so heavily and beating on the windows that it kept me awake so finally I got up a couple of hours ago and maybe I'll just have a nap later on as I know I'll be sleepy.

Anthony

Good morning everyone.  I was sorry to hear about the attack Carol, but thankful that you are still praising God in spite of it.  I guess it is a testimony to what the devotional touched on.  When we fall, don't give up but get up.  God bless you and your husband Carol.

Thanks for the devotional Pat.  My church is going to a small village to evangelise this afternoon, so I hope to pop back on the forum when we are through.

See ya later.

Anthony.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I don't usually get here this early but as this is Saturday I don't go to the "Y" to walk and it isn't time to go to coffee yet.

I will pick up my friend who doesn't drive to go to coffee with me this morning.  He usually doesn't go on Saturday but his wife is in Pittsburgh, where her father had a pace maker put in yesterday, so he is by himself and asked if I would pick him up.  He really seems to enjoy the coffee group and the chance to spend an hour or so with a bunch of guys.  Otherwise he would be stuck in him home most of the time.  His wife will soon quit her job so he will be more mobile and then she has told him he should also come to coffee on Saturdays.

Carol, what a frightening thing to have happen to you.  I certainly hope this won't adversely impact your visit, although am sure you will be looking over your shoulder as you are touring.  Evil seems to be growing all over the world.  Glad never of you were seriously hurt as the material things can be replaced.

Anthony, hope you have a wonderful day in the village as you proclaim the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

I am happy to say that around 3 pm yesterday I started to feel a lot better (had had aching muscles, especially my lower back) and was able to concentrate.  Other than still have a bit of a scratchy throat this morning I seem to feel fine.  Hope to get back to work on my frames project after coffee today.

Liz, I assure you that I don't work very hard, at least not for very long, on anything that is physical.  I do try to stay busy all the time but usually it involves a project here on my computer and not something physical.  Glad to hear you are having cooler weather up your way.  Sure a lot of truth in that little funny you included about cats.  They do what they want to do when they want to do it.

Chris, I certainly enjoy the Tozar writings as well as the other devotional pieces we find here on CP.

Pat, sorry to read you didn't sleep well last night and hope you can get in a little nap.  Isn't it unpleasant to have to repeat a medical test we have just taken.  That happened to my Pat recently and she wasn't a happy camper.

Ria, how is your father doing?

Marilyn, Ruthie and all who stop by and post or just stop by to read today, I hope you each have a wonderful day.

Etta Sue

On, no, Carol ~ What an ordeal!  I am so happy that God didn't let you let this get you down.  I am praying that you got the credit cards stopped before those rascals used them.  I am thankful neither of you were hurt badly.

Thanks, Pat, for the devotional.  I don't comment much on them but I read them.  John 3:16 always touches my heart and is a reassurance of his Love for me that He has given me...a sinner...everlasting life.  P.S. I couldn't get the music for the song.

Liz ~ I loved the cat story.  I think I had read it before but it was a long time ago.  I don't think I could give my cats a pill.  And they are declawed.

Today is cloudy and possible drizzle.  So I guess I will wait to do my laundry.  I want to hang it outside.  So it will be whatever happens, happens day.

Rachel ~ I forget....yes, we want lots of pictures of the new puppy.  I remember at my son and DIL wedding, the photographer said to say 'Puppy Breath' instead of 'cheese'.  All the smiles were wonderful!  Puppies do make one smile.

I have posted some more hints....

Pat:  Being sleep deprived must be part of "the plan" but it sure is hard - most of the time I sleep rather well but do go in spurts as you seem to - I hope you are resting well tonight.

Anthony:  You are so kind and thoughful and I wish you every success in today's venture with your church group.

Larry:  We went out today and I hesitated but did bring the camera.  Don just gave me a piece of chocolate so I feel better  ;)

Etta Sue:  We had to call the states to cancel our credit cards & they did not have any charges showing - called almost immediately.  Did I ever tell you how cute your little pictures are in your posts?   They are.  You are so talented.  As for not being let down by God - it took me a little while to remember to give thanks that we didn't lose our passports and especalliy for not being hurt.

Rachel:  What a wonderful present - a new puppy.  Would love it but our place is not right for a little fluffy.

Well, I checked the nearby church and nothing in English - there may be something in this city but certainly not close.  So, Sunday we will go to an open market just to see the happenings.  We have popped into several cathederals that are massive and old.  The stained glass windows are awesome - sorry, I just don''t take pictures inside in case it would offend anyone.

GOD IS FAITHFUL!!

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
(Click to here music)

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and spring-time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Howdy folks!
How is the summer going?
Wonderfully busy here.  The fair is coming up on the 3rd and we have been pretty busy getting ready for that.

I better get, need to buy some frames.

Have a good weekend!
Soni

Anthony

Ria, God bless you and strengthen during these times.  I did not realise that your father is ill.  It can be a tough time for all of the family.  I trust that you will get enought rest during these times.

Pat, that was a wonderful hymn to post today.  How true that we serve a faithful God.  I was just reading through Joshua and it seems that God kept on repeating Himself, that He would never leave Joshua or fail Him.  It is a wonderful thought isn't it, that God will never fail us.

Rachel, I love the puppy and the photos that you took of him.  I wonder how big he will grow as he gets older.

Larry I am so glad that are able to post even though you feel tired from time to time.  Our bodies wear out, but the inner man is being renewed day by day.  I trust you will have a great weekend brother.

Sonja, sounds good that you are having a fair this summer.  It has gone relatively hot today over here and I seem to be drinking non-stop.  Good job I don't take the booze else I would be in trouble  :-\  I hope your family are ok Sonja and I do like that signature photo.  You look like a film star.

Hello Jane I hope  you have a great day.

Sorry if I missed anyone.  We had a good day at the nearby village.  28 of our people turned out and we hope that some people will think about the gospel as a result of the witness.

See  you all soon.

Anthony.

p.s. Just a great big thankyou to all those who signed the guestbook on my site. I think Judy and Bunnie were the latest to sign it.  I haven't seen Mandy yet, so she will have a pleasant surprise when I tell her about it tomorrow.  I will ask her to email Pat with a thank you.  (I hope she figures out how to send the email  ;D)

Anthony, that's just such a wonderful job to do.  Were you doing Open Air evangelism?  That was Jack's forte.  He had a sketchboard that he used in public squares in various cities.

God bless you and your group!

Lovely pics Carol, the dog got fleas?  ???

Only Joking, he is cute! ;D

Janet

Hello, friends.  Like Pat, I had a sleepless night and am now just about to fall asleep on my keyboard.

I took Abby home this morning, we brely made it in time to see part of their parade, but she got lots of candy that they threw at her. ;)  I took my stuff and did face painting at Diane's (Abby's Mom) store for a while.  Jeff made lunch for all of us, then Mark asked me if I would do some typing for him for the Eagle ceremony a week from tomorrow.  That took quite a while, and now I am back home.

Carol, I'm sorry you had that experience, but verry happy neither of you were injured seriously.  My husband's brother has had that happen to him more than once in his travels.  One time I remember it happened, he was in Panama City, Panama.  They ripped his back pocket clear off his pants!  And knocked him down and kicked him, etc.  Not a fun experience at all.

Larry, glad you are feeling better.  I'm sure your friend appreciates your helping him; it is no fun to be housebound.

Cute puppy, Rachel, but from the size of those paws, he will be a BIG one!

Hi, Anthony!  How ya doing today?  ;) ;D

Pat, I will talk to you soon.  I feel a little nap coming on...........hope I don't sleep as long as Liz did or I won't sleep again tonight.  Liz, glad your family are home and hope now you can get some rest.

Hi, Etta Sue!  Hi Marilyn!  Hi Gareth!  Hi Soni!  Hi Ria!  (Do get some rest!)  Hi, Jane, how you doing?

Rachel:  What an adorable puppy!  What breed is he?  I love the name Dexter...seems to suit the little guy.

Carol:  I was totally shocked when I read of your ordeal.  I'm so glad you wern't more hurt.  Makes one afraid to go to Brussels, dosen't it!  I'm so glad you had some money on yourself, at least you can cancel the credit cards.

Pat:  Yes, that was quite the rain last night.....it kept me awake too.  I hope you are able to get a good sleep tonight.....thats what I am planning to do....LOL

Ria:  God Bless you, honey.....We are praying for you!

Thanks Anthony!  That picture shows the true me.  A dancer.  I love to dance hip hop and street jazz.  Of course I also like ballet, but that is my daughters forte' (sp)  (hug)  It is nice that you are a helping this young lady get a start at the computer world.  These days it seems to be the way to go.  There are still alot of folks I know who don't own a computer....I know, what are they thinking.  Computers rock! :-)

Glad everyone is doing well.  The day is going by well for us. Chandraya and the family had a blast at a Birthday party.  These folks fed us well.  I think Mike wants an air up trampoline for his birthday party. ;-)  hehehehe....

I better get...the family wants to go folfing.  Woohooo...

WELCOME LILLIE!  Beautiful name.  My daughters name is Lila Mae.   :D  Hope you find this place to be your second home.  The folks here are wonderful.  I am a busy person in the summer so will be in and out. If I don't reply to your post, it isn't because I am ignoring you, k.  ;D

Thanks Etta Sue for the compliment on the church website.  I still have alot of work to do with it.

Kathy and Karma I do hope you are going to be ok, I just heard on the news that there is a hurricane brewing off the coast of the Carolinas.

I just wish Gloria would stop smoking I find it very offensive and I ciome home smelling like smoke myself. It seems to just stick in my nostrils. She was doing ok until she got her check yesterday.

I have been unpacking a few more of my knicks knacks, I thought I was going to have room to put out my Brass but unless  put up more shelves there is no way I can.

Etta Sue I sure like all the HInts you have put in, I have looked at them all but have only commented on the first in appetizers.

And it's just the right size for the size too!  It's just under 35K and the dimensions are perfect.  Why don't you open a new topic in "Photos Here" called "Dexter" and then we can enjoy them for longer.  I'm sure your site will allow linking, won't it?
