Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

God's Discipline

"For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?"
(Hebrews 12:6-7

There's a terrible misunderstanding among believers today about God's method of disciplining His children. They'll point to some kind of disaster-- a tornado or a car accident-- and say, "I guess God sent that catastrophe to teach us something."

No, He didn't! A loving God doesn't send death and destruction on His children to instruct them. He doesn't unleash His bad dog to bite us on the leg, so we'll learn to wear our boots!

How does He chastise His own? With His Word.

Second Timothy 3:16-17 says, "Every Scripture is God-breathed--given by His inspiration--and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, and for training in righteousness, So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work" (The Amplified Bible).

If you'll look in 2 Corinthians 7, you'll see an example of this. There the Apostle Paul talks about a situation in the Corinthian church that needed correction. That church had gotten out of line and had to be disciplined.

How did Paul do it? Not by asking God to send an earthquake to shake them up! He did it by writing them a letter. He wrote them a word of reproof that hurt so badly they would have preferred being beaten with a stick. It cut deep into their spirits and brought them to repentance.

Your heavenly Father loves you and because He does, He will chasten you. But He'll do it with spiritual, not fleshly tools. He'll use the spirit power in His Word to chasten unbelief and purify your spirit in such a way that you'll come out strong, not weak and condemned.

So quit bowing down to disasters and start subjecting yourself instead to the Word of God. Yield to the Word. Let it correct you and trim away the flesh and the lusts that lead you astray. Remember, the Sword of the Spirit is two-edged--one side is for Satan and the other side is for you. Let God use it to keep you in line!

Happy Fourth of July to all Americans!

We are celebrating here in Japan with BARBECUE!  What else, right?

Janet, thanks for the great devotional.  I think I have to say OUCH!

Continuing with yesterday's thoughts about prayer, I like how Luke records Jesus' encouragement for us to pray...

  Then he (Jesus) said, "Imagine what would happen if you went to a friend in the middle of the night and said, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread.  An old friend traveling through just showed up, and I don't have a thing on hand.'

  "The friend answers from his bed, 'Don't bother me. The door's locked; my children are all down for the night; I can't get up to give you anything.'

  "But let me tell you, even if he won't get up because he's a friend, if you stand your ground, knocking and waking all the neighbors, he'll finally get up and get you whatever you need.

To all my American friends; have a blessed day!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone and Happy Fourth of July to those of us in the USA.  We also appreciate the good wishes for the day from our friends in other places.  It is suppose to be a picture perfect 4th here in Atlanta.  That means it is going to be very hot.  The Peachtree Road Race is underway right now.  I sure don't envy those folks.

The only thing we have planned today is to go at lunch time to Ryan's where are seniors group from church is meeting to have lunch.  This is there regular monthly meeting date and they decided there was no reason not to go ahead with it today.  Our daughter has indicated she will go with us today.  She like the buffet type serving of food.  The rest of the day I plan to stay in and stay cool.  I have some website work to do for the church and more work to do on the major project I am working on for my friend.

Janet, are you running AdAware and Spybot on your computer?  If not you can download both of these free and they should find a number of the viruses and problem.  Also do you run Zone Alarm on your computer?  There is a free version that works very well (I speak from experience).  Hope you have a very nice time with your family today and I am anxious to hear what your new business opportunity involves.  When I read that I thought now how is Janet going to to squeeze in one more thing to do everyday.  :)  Janet, thanks for the fine devotional today.

Pat, sure hope you enjoy having your granddaughter with you.  Know it will be an adjustment for you both but she is lucky to be able to spend time with you over the next weeks and months.  I hope she will pick up her share of the work to help you out.

Jane, glad to read that Dot had safely arrived and bearing gifts no less.  I sure hear you on not wanting to accumulate anymore stuff.  It seems we do a pretty good job of that even when we don't want to.  Hope you have a great time today.

Ruth, I hope your pies turn out well.  Rhubarb is something I really, really dislike stemming from my childhood.  We had a big rhubarb patch and my mother always made something with it and it wasn't pies.  I just couldn't stand it and still don't like it.

A special hi to all those posting that I have addressed and those who visit today.  It is time to leave for coffee.  It is at McDonald's today as the cafe is closed.
Etta Sue, glad there was a problem at your house last night.  I don't remember hearing more than one firework being fired last night and that was while we were having supper.  I expect we will hear more today.

JudyB, like Marilyn, my wife now uses a large oval hoop to do her quilting and did a very large king-size white-on-white quilt using it several years ago.  She has moved down to smaller quilts and is using machine quilting on most of them now.  It sounds like you will have an exciting summer with your kitchen being remodeled.

What a wonderful way to start one's day!  I'm new to this forum and have wandered around a bit exploring.  This daily devotional and greeting will be a great starting point for each of my visits.
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Good Morning ohenry, Welcome to CP. We are so glad to have you aboard to share  our lives. I am sure you  will be a wonderful addition to our group.

Janet great devotional this morning.

I have invited some of my neighbors to attend the picnic and barbeque at the church this evening.  I do hope that some go.

Tomorrow I start my new job with Ruth, she lives in the same Mobil home park where Jan lives. This afternoon I need to start putting things in my  new shed. I have to go through some of the tubs and toss out some stuff, I also have to label them.  I still have a few in the house that need to go out.

Y-all have a wonderful day now ya hear.

I fear the rain is putting a damper on Indiana's July 4th.  This is the first year in a long time that Indiana is allowing legal fireworks in individual yards etc.  I fear some injuries will happen.  I didn't hear too many fireworks last night but there was some.

I went to bed with a very sore throat.  Thank God, I feel much better this morning.

I am doing laundry and then it will be time for lunch.  Nothing exciting happening for me today.  That's a down being a widow on Holidays.

I did discover that I can IM Earthlink with questions and get answers.  I got an email with pictures and graphics and when I forward, it was red x's.  The person on the IM said to download an upgrade for my Earthlink Mailbox.  I did.  I forwarded that email to myself and I see pictures and graphics!  Yippee!  Maybe in another year, I will have trouble free Earthlink service!

Good afternoon.  We have a storm warning in our area as well we have had some rain but it is still very humid out.

I had a morning apointment today but now I am back home to do whatever needs to be done.  Mel has bought a new Bar B Q and he is out putting it together. Buying it in the box was less money then the put together model.

Sue: Check my picture download and perhaps you can put yours in as well.

The e & X in the photo section who all can see it. If everyone see's it, is there some way it can be removed?

Victory in Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Eugene. M. Bartlett

I heard an old, old story, How a Saviour came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins And won the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing pow'r revealing,
How He made the lame to walk again And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried "Dear Jesus, Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't To me the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory,
And I heard about the streets of gold Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing, And the old, redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there The song of victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I have been meaning to mention that between me and Grand Rapids there is a Koinonia Campground, a State or County park.  I can't remember what that word means now.  Can you tell me again?

Pat

Hi Etta Sue...

First of all, "Thanks!" ;)

:cp:

Koinonia (according to Kevin) means "Fellowship" or "Friendship"

Hello folks.  John is gone again, it is rough the kids really wish he were home more.

I was in town and picked up one of my cpmputer projects from Staples.  I do really love to go in that store, I sure could break the budget!

We had rain and a power outage last night.  Melaura was on her computer, and and has fried it.  We took it to Tony and hope the repairs are not too expensive.

It is raining again today, Ths is unusual for our summers.  It is better for the well though.  We have yet to run out of water this year.

Well I am back to working on my last project, John will have another for me very soon, so I had better get moving.

Have a good evening everyone
Judy

We don't usually post too many photos in New Every Morning but I wanted to share this one with you all.  It's the Photo of the Week on Photography Cafe and with so many of our members on here being bird lovers, I thought I'd just show you and let you read what Mike says about how he planned it and took the photo.

HEAD SHOT

by MIKEAKABIGMAN

(Click on the photo to see it larger)

From Mike...

"Thanks to everyone for the nice comments and the votes that made my image "Head shot" POTD and then POTW.

It is very rewarding to achieve this accolade from my friends on PC  , particularily as this shot took a lot of  time, patience and planning.
It all started months ago in the winter, when we were visited by two pairs of Woodpeckers.

During this time I moved the bird table from the middle of the lawn, closer and closer to our dining room window, and while most of the birds were quite bold and confiding, the Woodpeckers were much more cautious and would fly off if we werent very careful.

Then squirrels hit town and started taking away whole fat balls which the peckers seemed to like most of all.  So I got to work, cut a dead tree from the forest, drilled some deep holes in it and sited it along side the bird table. By forcing fat balls into the holes at least the squirrels couldn't take them away which left some for the peckers.

The added bonus of course was that any photos I took looked far more natural.
The next hurdles to over come were that I was at first taking photos through the glass of our dining room window and this of course was reducing image quality, further to this the window faced south so I was shooting into the light which made exposure difficult, silhouettes werent what I wanted and also the background garden plants were creating highlights which were very intrusive.
There was nothing else to do, but move the feeding post to another part of the garden and build a hide near to it.

Within the restrictions of the front gardens relatively small size, with a small pond , a water feature, and an eating area to take into account, this is what I did.  I sited the post next to the water feature, a facility that the birds, including the woodpeckers ,make full use of, to drink and bath, I then built the hide, and left them to get used to it for a week.

Gradually things settled down and I got some reasonable photos, but the 300mm lens on my Fuji  still wasn't giving me the large close up images I wanted, so I moved the hide closer, let things settle down again and after a short while began to take the shots I was after.

The hide is sited about a metre and a half from my water feature and just under a metre from the feeding post, so as you can imagine, panning the camera has to be done very slowly and noise kept to a mininmum, although to slow the birds down I sometimes click my tongue just prior to taking an image. On hearing the noise they momentarily freeze and that way I get a good sharp shot.

And there you have it folks  "Head shot"

Thanks!"
