JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus:  Giver of Freedom
John 8:31-59  NLT

31Jesus said to the people who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if you keep obeying my teachings. 32And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

33"But we are descendants of Abraham," they said. "We have never been slaves to anyone on earth. What do you mean, `set free'?"

34Jesus replied, "I assure you that everyone who sins is a slave of sin. 35A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will indeed be free. 37Yes, I realize that you are descendants of Abraham. And yet some of you are trying to kill me because my message does not find a place in your hearts. 38I am telling you what I saw when I was with my Father. But you are following the advice of your father."

39"Our father is Abraham," they declared.

"No," Jesus replied, "for if you were children of Abraham, you would follow his good example. 40I told you the truth I heard from God, but you are trying to kill me. Abraham wouldn't do a thing like that. 41No, you are obeying your real father when you act that way."

They replied, "We were not born out of wedlock! Our true Father is God himself."

42Jesus told them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, because I have come to you from God. I am not here on my own, but he sent me. 43Why can't you understand what I am saying? It is because you are unable to do so! 44For you are the children of your father the Devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and has always hated the truth. There is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45So when I tell the truth, you just naturally don't believe me! 46Which of you can truthfully accuse me of sin? And since I am telling you the truth, why don't you believe me? 47Anyone whose Father is God listens gladly to the words of God. Since you don't, it proves you aren't God's children."

48The people retorted, "You Samaritan devil! Didn't we say all along that you were possessed by a demon?"

49"No," Jesus said, "I have no demon in me. For I honor my Father--and you dishonor me. 50And though I have no wish to glorify myself, God wants to glorify me. Let him be the judge. 51I assure you, anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!"

52The people said, "Now we know you are possessed by a demon. Even Abraham and the prophets died, but you say that those who obey your teaching will never die! 53Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? Are you greater than the prophets, who died? Who do you think you are?"

54Jesus answered, "If I am merely boasting about myself, it doesn't count. But it is my Father who says these glorious things about me. You say, `He is our God,' 55but you do not even know him. I know him. If I said otherwise, I would be as great a liar as you! But it is true--I know him and obey him. 56Your ancestor Abraham rejoiced as he looked forward to my coming. He saw it and was glad."

57The people said, "You aren't even fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham?"

58Jesus answered, "The truth is, I existed before Abraham was even born!" 59At that point they picked up stones to kill him. But Jesus hid himself from them and left the Temple.

How has Christ made you free?

Jesus himself is the truth that makes us free.  He is the source of truth, the perfect standard of what is right.  He frees us from the consequences of sin, from self-deception, and from deception by Satan.  He shows us clearly the way to everlasting life with God.

Thus, Jesus does not give us freedom to do what we want but freedom to follow God.  As you seek to serve God, Jesus' perfect truth frees you to be all that God meant you to be.

Janet ~ So sorry to hear about your computer.  They can be quite a problem at times.

Al ~ Thanks for the pronounciation of Koinonia.  I was pronouncing it every way but the right way.

I mowed today.  It was very comfortable temperature wise out there.  In fact, when I was trimming some tree limbs, it was a little nippy.  Then I showered and dressed and took my gas containers to the station to fill them up.  $3.09.9!!  And it is after the holiday!

I dont think many will be at our 60 Chix luncheon this Saturday.  Lapel is having Lapel Village Days...booths up and down Main Street, entertainment on a street that is blocked off and the whole town is one huge yard/garage sale.  Even my SIL is having a garage sale.  But even if there is only two of us, that is okay by me.

Time for nighty-night.  At least I don't have to go to Grand Rapids tomorrow!!

At the moment, mowing sounds great, Etta Sue.  I haven't been able to mow since my back started hurting.  I keep watching the grass (and the weeds)growing.  My back is better, but now I'm sort of afraid to mow again, as that was what caused the injury last time. I don't think I'm "stubborn", but it's so hard not doing anything!  I keep trying, not big things, and then have pain again.  Today I kept still and let my back tell me what it wanted to do.   It said "REST ME". lol

I'm doing my morning reading in Ephesians now.  I can get so filled up with joy reading about the Church, the Body of Christ, on earth, and at the right hand of the Father, in Christ.  God's wisdom will take eternal searching out...even when we know as we are known, will we ever know the depth of His Wisdom??  And His Love?  :) :)   I am so blessed.

Etta Sue, I liked the devotional so much.  Jesus did set us free....so that we could follow God.   And we are free!  Yes, Lord! :)

Marilyn, I'm glad Bebe is feeling better.  I know my Tyson gets stomach upset really easily.  I have to watch his treats and just stay with lamb and rice.  I forget that sometimes, and feel so bad for him.  Rocko can eat anything, but is particular. Tyson will eat anything and everything but gets an upset tummy.  :)

I'm off to look at the galleries.  I sure enjoy looking at all of your photos.

A good morning to all.  A heartwarming daily devotional, indeed!

In my reading last evening, I came across a little story that made me smile.  It seems that a professor of theology, well known for his wisdom and education, was teaching a group of seminary students one afternoon.  One of the students asked him:  "What do you feel is the most significant theological finding you have discovered in all of your studies?".  The students eagerly awaited his educated reply while the old professor pondered.  Finally, he replied:  "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so".

Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Amen Carl!!!  Once we know Jesus loves us, nothing else matters nearly as much.

$3.09!  I WISH it was that price here!  It's $3.37 at the lowest (and even that is down from it's high point at $3.53).  God will deal with these oil executives when He judges all men.  We ought to pray for them, that God would be merciful to them and lead them to repentance ahead of that day.

Ritz

Good morning everyone! :coffee:

Hey, I hope y'all go see Janet's Koinonia Gallery...She's very talented!

Did everyone have a fun and safe fourth? We did!

Etta Sue

Good morning all!  Another cooler day in Indiana.  I like it!  My A/C likes it, too.  Therefore I like my electric bill much better.

Not much going on today.  Maybe someone will ask me to go somewhere with them for a surprise.  I love sponteneity!

No time for a  decent post this morning But I will be back after I leave Fay's house.

I really like that quote.  We are not free to sin, but we are freed from sin, to serve.  It reminds me of a quote of Pastor Dennis. "God won't show us His unknown will, till He sees us pbeying His known will"

Everything is relative.  We are paying $1.09/L for gas here in the north.  That is $7.19 in US gallons.  Ouch!

Marilyn glad that the rice helped.

Well I have to go.

Love to all JudyB

Hi all,  I am so pleased to see you all here.

Just want to first Thank you for all my wonderful birthday wishes, we got away and I missed them, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH,

Dear Lord,

I thank You for this day I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.

I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.
And It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits.

I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak... Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately.

But I thank you that I believe  that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.
I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees it.

Hope this blesses someone today, as it has me.

Alma

Good morning all y'all!   :D

Dot left on her journey home to Spokane a couple hours ago.  She will be driving many hours before she sees the lights of home.

We enjoyed a good mother/daughter visit since Sunday evening.  Went to the Mill dockside to watch a spectacular fireworks show on Monday night, and were still up talking when God started His own spectacular show!  Then, Tuesday, we drove down and roamed and browsed and ate in Bandon, returning home in the evening to sort through a lot of "stuff" and I really appreciate that.   :) Dot loaded the back of her CRV and now she can distribute it among her girls, sell it, give it away or just plain toss it and I will never know the difference!  At least it's out of my house.   :D

A friend wants me to accompany her to Spokane in a few weeks so I will be able to visit with Dot again and see at least one of her girls for a weekend.  My friend needs someone to help with the driving and, since we both have kids and grands in Spokane ... who better to ask than li'l ol' me!   ;D

Today I need to get some things straightened up here at home, perhaps pull some weeds and go to the grocery store, so I will soon be back into my "normal" rut routine of casual living.  ;)

I'll be back as I can get myself here ... y'all take care y'hear?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Carol

Jane:  Nice that you are getting rid of stuff - we should probably do more here .  Super nice that two of you can drive to Spokane.

JudyB:  Interesting sermon from your pastor on we will know when we are doing God's will when God lets us know we are doing it.  I am thinking on that.

Larry:  I didn't see the beginning of the Pops.  I did see some raggedy people up there later - the young people went wild.

Too humid for the outdoor painters to come again - this is almost hilarious for we live in High Desert area next to the foothills.  Not so funny as the painters are not being paid - unless they go to an indoor job.  I was lucky to exercise at the outdoor pool today & wore a float belt so as not to stand on my one foot.  It felt great with the sun shining & then we all had coffee.  Everyone is tan - they all do this so often & it is different for me.  I don't know what people do all day long, not much by what they say.  They keep inviting me to excursions that there just isnt time for -

Carol

JudyB guess what I treated the wrong dog. It was Happy  that had the problem . He seems to be alright today.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I had a very enjoyable day as visited with a member of our Sunday School class who is legally blind in her new retirement home.  His wife died very suddenly a couple of years ago and he has dry maculary degeneration.  He is a vet and the Veteran's Administration provided two months training for him in indepenent living.  He lives in a beautiful place with a very nice apartment.  He has specialized equipment to help him read and his computer has special software that makes everything large and that will read to him.  It is wonderful what is now available to help people with disabilities.  He also treated me and another friend who stopped by to a nice lunch in the coffee shop where he lives.  They have a nice dining room but the friend had limited time and the coffee shop was quicker for a sandwich.

I helped him with a printer problem and then showed him how to print envelopes as he is having trouble writing to make it legible.  After I left there I stopped at the church for singing and playing the piano with our adult day care center.  Then our son stopped by for a short visit.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional today.  I agree it is a very good one.

Good to see everyone posting, including Alma who hasn't been here for awhile and also our new friend Carl.  Jane, glad you had such a nice visit with Dot and will have the opportunity to see her again at her home.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

I had to go to the Chiropractor his afternoon, sure needed that adjustment. I took both dogs for their walks before I went. My back  cracked all the way from my neck down to my lower back. Since I have been home I watered all the plants in pots on my front porch and here are a LOt of them.

I am trying to remember everything that I had written before my post disappeared into cyberspace for no apparent reason when I  clicked to add a smiley.  :ticked:

It was good read the prayer from Alma, Sorry to hear Janet's computer is very sick with a virus. Where is Pat today? Carol did water exercises and the painter didn't come. Larry helped his friend. Jane had some wonderful mom and daughter time with Dot. Kathy Sumner and Jeanne Lee are among the missing. Nards works way too many hours. Karma is busy with the kids. Etta Sue mowed the  lawn.
Nita's back feels better, Al is being an AL. Carl enjoyed the devotional and so did I.  Rick enjoyed the 4th and Kevin hasn't been here yet. Did I leave anyone out.?

And you thought I wasn't paying attention to what I read.

C all y-all later.

Some good posts here to read today.

Thanks for them all.  I've been in and out doing errands and then my power was out for a few hours.  It wasn't raining but I heard sirens so maybe someone had and accident and hit a transformer or something.

It's fine now and all's well.

That's quite the watering job, Carl!

Love that little snippet you gave about Jesus Loves Me.  Isn't that just the most wonderful little phrase?

Jesus Loves Me
(Click to hear music)

I pray that you...may have power...to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
Ephesians 3:17-18

Words: Anna B. Warner and David Rutherford McGuire.
Music: William B. Bradbury

Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.

Refrain
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! This I know,
As He loved so long ago,
Taking children on His knee,
Saying, "Let them come to Me."

Refrain

Jesus loves me still today,
Walking with me on my way,
Wanting as a friend to give
Light and love to all who live.

Refrain

Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven's gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.

Refrain

Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.

Refrain

Jesus loves me when I'm good,
When I do the things I should,
Jesus loves me when I'm bad,
Even though it makes him sad.

Refrain

Well Carl Oregon is a bit far to travel to water all your plants. I think  youmay have way to many to water in one day. I admit I am only 75 miles from Brookings. Medford is more inland that I care to go. I like living on the coast where it is cool all the time.

ohenry I would love to have a set up like yours.  I am into african violets and have about 50, with many about ready to sell.  A friend sells blueberries at the local market and is willing to sell the violets for me.  I picked up an unusual one  this week.

Pat when I see you later this month we could go to Ancaster to see the greenhouse down there!

I have the main part of my project done.  Just some oganizing left to do.

I have the lawns to finish cutting tomorrow.  Kassie got a good amount done today.  With both of us working at the lawns tomorrow we should be able to finish the mowing.

Well I am off for tonight.  Have a good rest everyone and God Bless.

Judy...the flower/garden setup is not mine .... I was just being goofy with it.  As you get to know me, you'll soon discover I'm a little stinker sometimes  :laff:
