Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Let us please remember to pray for Christian websites across the internet and at this time, especially let us remember the Administrators and Moderators of the Christians Corner which was severely hacked last evening.  I was on the site and saw the devastation and I wept.  I won't forget it and I prayed for the owners and for those in charge.  It seems as if they will get some of it back but lots was lost.

Oh, we have so much to be thankful for here at Christian Photographers.  We've never had this happen and we pray that we never will.

Morning Devotional...

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name.
Philippians 2:9

Recently I met a colleague with whom I had worked over 30 years ago. As we greeted each other, he said to me, "I remember your face, but I've forgotten your name".

As I left him I thought, how different with the Lord Jesus. We know nothing of His physical appearance, but we know His name.

How could we ever forget it! Scripture abounds in its exaltation, lifting it above all others.

And by the grace of God, we can say with all our hearts, His name is Jesus; my Saviour and my God.

O How I Love Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

Words: Frederick Whitfield, 1855.
Music: 19th Century American melody

There is a name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in my ear,
The sweetest name on earth.

Chorus:
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!

It tells me of a Savior's love,
Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
The sinner's perfect plea.

It tells me of a Father's smile
Beaming upon His child;
It cheers me through this little while,
Through desert, waste, and wild.

It tells me what my Father hath,
In store for every day,
And tho'I tread a darksome path,
Yields sunshine all the way.

It tells of One whose loving heart
Can feel my deepest woe,
Who in each sorrow bears a part,
That none can bear below.

It tells me what my Father hath
In store for every day,
And though I tread a darksome path,
Yields sunshine all the way.

It tells of One whose loving heart
Can feel my deepest woe;
Who in each sorrow bears
A part that none can bear below.

It bids my trembling heart rejoice.
It dries each rising tear.
It tells me, in a 'still small voice',
To trust and never fear.

Jesus, the Name I love so well,
The Name I love to hear:
No saint on earth its worth can tell,
No heart conceive how dear.

This Name shall shed its fragrance still
Along this thorny road,
Shall sweetly smooth the rugged hill
That leads me up to God.

And there with all the blood-bought throng,
From sin and sorrow free,
I'll sing the new eternal song
Of Jesus' love for me.

Chorus:
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!

I love this song! Thank you for posting it!  And Also thank you very  much for your prayers!
Yes you are right, much was lost, but we are getting some things back.
Pray also for the people who did this to us, as they obviously need to Jesus to turn their hate into love.

I think this experience has actually brought us closwer together over there! PTL for that.
Also pray that the many members we had will find their way back to us. Thank-you.

And I will try to be around more often!

Hi, friends,

I did get to go to our campgrounds yesterday. I hit a big sheet of construction plastic that was blowing around the interstate (traffic completely surrounding me, so I couldn't take evasive action. So, I need repairs to the truck.

However, they said it was okay to drive for the length of time it took to go to the campgrounds.

We turned "sour lemons into lemonade," though. There's a beautiful little park my friend had never seen about a block from where we had the truck checked out. It was nearing time for me to eat (I'm diabetic and have to eat on schedule). So, we went to the park and she got to see the beautiful dragon sculpture made from designs submitted by the community (including my 3 sons) back in the 70s. The sculpture is a huge, playful dragon, whose tail swoops around in a big curve and the spines make up seats for folk to watch the children play and scamper over this big dragon or just to enjoy a warm summer breeze.

I suppose the dragon park may be my first picture taking exhibition, for you'll have to see the picture to understand how unique it is.

Then, on to a wonderful little restaurant a block away to eat lunch. These people went to France and learned to cook the wonderful crusty breads i the stone ovens. So, it's a trendy kind of place, but the food's tasty.

After the truck was pronounced healthy enough to proceed, away we went. We had gone maybe 5 miles and the check engine light came on. So, we detoured off the interstate, drove through a little country town and since my dad pastored a church in that area for 12 years while I was growing up, I was able to tell her about the town and then she remembered a friend of ours lived nearby. Friestone told me that I could proceed, so away we went again! Very thankful we could continue.

And the entire way down there we regaled each other with the funny stories that had happened as we each were growing up - she in east Tennessee and me here in middle Tennessee.

And, we didn't know it, but yesterday was Prime Timers day, so I got to meet SO MANY of my friends. We talked and talked and talked. And, the minister's sermon seemeds designed for me. It dealt head-on with something that has troubled me a lot. Too private to discuss, but it gave me direction for my life that was most worthwhile.

So, all told, we enjoyed our "lemonade-y" day and now I have an appointment for repair for the truck on Monday morning.

Pat and Backpacker, have a wonderful birthday today!

Ruth Ann

Thank to all who thanked me for the devotion yesterday.  I love the Psalms so I want to put all of them that are in my '365 Bible Stories' book.  The next one is lengthy verses but so informing.

I didn't think I would say it but I wish it would rain.  Every day this week, the weather men say it is going to rain but so far no wet drops have hit around here but sweat!  Even the grass is drying up.  A good rain will do wonders.  Besides I wouldn't have to water my plants.

Ivalou called me and Lydia is lonesome without Lexie.  She wants to go to McDonald's for lunch and Ivalou needs to go to the grocery...seems those to six year olds about ate her out of the house and home.  Ivalou said they needed a snack every two hours!!!  All the fruit is gone, the milk is gone, the chips are gone, all the veggies except the carrots and Ivalou fixed them three meals a day, too.  So I am going with her to do her shopping.  My ceiling fan in the bedroom won't shut off with the chain.  Seems like the motor is running slow so I am afraid to run it at night.  So I will look at celing fans and see if and when my son can help me install it.

Seems there is always some to repair or replace.

Then Judy and I are going out to eat again tonight...a new restaurant in Lapel...Mardi Gras theme but Italian food, I think.

Worship: Our Reason for Existence
Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the
beauty of holiness.
--Psalm 29:2
Yes, worship of the loving God is man's whole reason for existence.
That is why we are born and that is why we are born again from above.
That is why we were created and that is why we have been recreated.
That is why there was a genesis at the beginning, and that is why
there is a re-genesis, called regeneration.
That is also why there is a church. The Christian church exists to
worship God first of all. Everything else must come second or third
or fourth or fifth....
Sad, sad indeed, are the cries of so many today who have never
discovered why they were born. It brings to mind the poet Milton's
description of the pathetic lostness and loneliness of our first
parents. Driven from the garden, he says, "they took hand in hand
and through the valley made their solitary way."  Whatever Happened
to Worship?, 56-57.

"Oh Lord, we live in a world that has so totally lost its way! How
few have any concept at all of their reason for existence. How sad
to see so many all around us who 'took hand in hand and through the
valley made their solitary way.' Use me today to direct at least
one to the right path. Amen."

Judy McKenna

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day the Lord has given us.

When I read Etta Sue's note, where she said she and Judy were going out for lunch, - oh, Etta Sue, how I was wishing the "Judy" you were talking about, was ME!!...haha.

- maybe someday, eh?  That would be so nice....to meet you for lunch!

Happy Birthday to Pat and Alan!!

Thanks for the nice devotionals.

Happy Birthday Pat & Alan.  (the pretty one is Pat)  Cute picture, Chris & Margit.

Cable man came today and added a new part so I can tape and watch programs at the same time.  He was kind enough to write down the instructions for the various remotes (3) as no manual covers such stuff..... ::)  Oh, this day of modern wonders!

Did anyone see the program about the robots in Japan.  So human they are purely scary!!!  Read that robots can now be made to reproduce themselves....Soon humans will be obsolete.  Considering that our parts are harder to replace....who knows.

Big Sunday for dads coming soon.  Read this little blurb and might interest a few folks:

THE FATHERHOOD CYCLE

4 years: "My Daddy can do anything."
7 years: "My Dad knows a lot, a whole lot."
12 years: "Oh, well - naturally - Father doesn't know that either."
14 years: "Father? Hopelessly old-fashioned."
21 years: "Oh, that man is so out-of-date. What did you expect?"
25 years: "He knows a little bit about it - but not much."
30 years: "Maybe we ought to find out what Dad thinks."
35 years: "Let's ask Dad what he would do before we make a decision."
40 years: "I wonder what Dad would have thought about that? He was
pretty smart."
50 years: "My Dad knew absolutely everything."
60 years: "I'd give anything if Dad were here so I could talk this
over with him. I really miss that man."

Somehow, I don't think a robot will ever replace the above.

Pleasant day and God Bless.

Happy Birthday Pat and Alan.  What did you do for your day?

It's been sort of dripping here today.  For those in the hot weather I'd love to send some of our cool and the rain to you.

I went to my grandson's graduation today.  He graduated from pre-school.  They had a day in the park planned;  Play time, picnic lunch, then a ceremony with little caps and gowns.  It was raining before they even left the building to walk to the park, but they did it.  Parents, teachers and graduates played, blew bubbles, visited, ate lunch on damp picnic tables, sat on wet benches, and had a great ceremony (though short and sweet!)and did it all in the light rain.  Lots of wet heads....but happy people.  I was the only one with an umbrella.

Did anyone watch the Prime Time Live program with Diane Sawyer and Brad Pitt.  She went with him to Africa.  It was his second trip I believe.  I was so moved by the stories of the mothers and children.  There are countries who are very rich.  The US is one.  Why can't we who have so much help them?  My heart just felt wrenched.  I've watched programs as this before, but for some reason this one really touched deep.  If the goal is met, then Christian and secular groups will finally work together for Africa.   President Bush has pledged to do more.  I'm really grateful for that.

Bernard's cousin and her husband (with 4 children) went to South Africa to be missionaries.  We haven't heard from them but once or twice because their Internet is very expensive.

I agree, though, I wish there was some way for those of us (corporately, as in the country) could help those who don't.  Unfortunately, many times aid and support the governments give to another government just ends up in a beaurocrats pocket. :(

I really should be going to bed.

Nte nite

Pat

I've just come home from a lovely surprise birthday party for me at Andrew's home. I knew I was going there for cake and icecream but there were 27 there and just a fantastic evening and lovely fun and fellowship with all my kids, my brother and his wife and family and my sister and her family.

All my kids think that since Geordie is 10 years old now that I should think about getting another border collie puppy so that Geordie can train it so they got together and gave me a gift certificate of $200.00 toward a new pup when I feel I want to do this!

It's been a lovely day and now I come here and see your nice greetings.
