JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional

How to become a better Christian.

John 17:6 - "I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world." 2 Cor. 4:6 - "For it is the God Who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." John 1:14 - "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

When our Lord said He had manifested God's name to His disciples, it means that He revealed Who and What God is - that He revealed the glory of God's nature to them.  Then when Paul told us that God revealed His glory in the face of His Son - He was actually saying the same thing.  Finally, the explanation for it all is the last verse - Jesus so displayed God's wonderful love, mercy, justice, wisdom, mercy, etc. - in His words and works that those disciples couldn't help knowing they'd seen the glory of God in their Master.

Have you become acquainted with God as you've become acquainted with His Son?  I urge you to study the Scripture for the sole purpose of getting to know Christ more fully.  You will thereby get to know God more fully.  You will thereby love Him more and more.

Awake, My Soul in Joyful Lays
(Click to hear music)

"Who hath made man's mouth?" Exodus 4:11

Words: John Needham, d.c. 1786

Music: "Duke Street," attributed to John Hatton, 1793

Awake, my soul, to joyful lays,
And sing thy great Redeemer's praise;
He justly claims a song from me -
His lovingkindness, O how free!
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness, O how free!

He saw me ruined in the fall,
Yet loved me notwithstanding all;
He saved me from my lost estate -
His lovingkindness, O how great!
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness, O how great!

Though numerous hosts of mighty foes,
Though earth and hell my way oppose,
He safely leads my soul along -
His lovingkindness, O how strong!
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness, O how strong!

When trouble, like a gloomy cloud,
Has gathered thick and thundered loud,
He near my soul has always stood -
His lovingkindness, O how good!
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness, O how good!

Often I feel my sinful heart
Prone from my Jesus to depart;
But though I have him oft forgot,
His lovingkindness changes not.
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness changes not.

Soon I shall pass the gloomy vale,
Soon all my mortal powers must fail;
O! may my last expiring breath
His lovingkindness sing in death.
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness sing in death.

Then let me mount and soar away
To the bright world of endless day;
And sing with raptures and surprise,
His lovingkindness in the skies.
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness in the skies.

"True peace comes from the knowledge that while we may not agree on every issue, we are one in our desire for harmony and peace. United in faith, we extend our peace-filled thoughts to the world. Our prayers for world peace are powerful and true, making the dream of peace a living reality."

Janet:  Nothing is as sweet as the special conversations we are privileged to have with our grandchildren and sometimes our own children.  You have a special family.

Ruth Ann:  I pray that this dental surgery will be a perfect success.

Pat:  You trip sounds beautiful.  Yes, I have problems with a stuffy or high  humidity place as well -

Marilyn:  Thank you for the sweet message of peace this morning.  I send my thoughts of blessings for you.

Al:  Thank you for today's devotion on reading the message more.

Hello, everyone!  Top of the morning to all of you!

Please pray for little Kristi today... the medicine that worked at first doesn't seem to be working now, and we're starting to get pretty concerned.  Thanks a lot.

Karma and Travis are going to the lake for her sister's birthday party, so they should have a fun day - if it doesn't rain!!

Bye for now!
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Check out my blog at www.bernardshuford.com.

Etta Sue

I forgot to mention TBear yesterday and how nice it was to read a message from Kayln.  She is one special lady.  Yes, when things settle down, I do want to come visit again.  This time we may not be so uptight since we 'know' each other now.

When I grow up, I want to be like.....let's see, Abby's great-grandmother with her longevity, Karma with her bubbly personality, Janet with her energy, Marilyn with her spiritualness, Ruth Ann with her stick-to-it ness and Pat with her serving-all attitude.  Just any one of those would be awesome.

Larry and Al, get better soon.  Been praying for both of you guys and your health problems.

Nards, Kristi is a concern to all of us.  Keep an eye on that sweet one.  Get help when you can and think you should.  If you have doubts, then do it.

Raining here yesterday and today so far.  We really needed the rain.  I saw so many yellow lawns yesterday going to church.  Perhaps burnt by fertizer but still yellow.  I like these kinds of day...makes us appreciate the bright and sunny days all the more.

Again, we are going for a drive out in the populated country-side and then go for a Chinese lunch.  Hi Mieka!!  Then Lydia has to go home with her Mommy and sister.   :'(

Hi everyone.  It is a busy day around our house, not that I am doing any of it but the housekeeper is here and the lawn people are here as well.  By noon, everything should be nice and clean and the yard will look nice.  Pat just left to get a new permanent so she will also be all spruced up and looking very beautiful (not that she doesn't always look beautiful to me).

I had a really down weekend, at least yesterday.  I had slept about 11 hours Saturday night and we did go to church but was just not feeling peppy enough to go out to lunch.  I slept most of the afternoon and then again last night went to bed early.  I don't seem to be feeling much less tired this morning.  I suppose this is something I am going to have to learn to live with.  I am not in any pain so certainly not complaining but don't want to do anything other than lay down.   Pat wanted to know if I wanted to meet her for lunch at a restruarant we like but I just don't have the energy.  Hopefully this will pass by tomorrow.

Pat and Judy, it is indeed sad to read of the terminal stage your minister's wife has now reached.

Etta Sue, the new duplicating equipment sounds like it has some programming involved to help level out the sound.  Glad it is so good.  Enjoy your drive today.

Janet, glad you were able to get your car home without hail damage.  Your poor little PT Cruiser has had a tough few days.  :)  Abby's great grandmother sounds amazing.  It is really something to be 100 and still able to live alone and do her own work.

Karmat, hope you and Travis have a great day at the lake.  If you have weather like we have this morning you should be fine.  There is a chance of late afternoon showers and expect you are having the same.  Sure hope your little girl is all right as I saw the posting from Nards this morning.

Ruth Ann, hope your dental surgery goes well tomorrow.  I know you are not looking forward to it but hopefully you will start feeling much better by not having that poison pumped into your system all the time.

Al, thanks for the fine devotional thought this morning.

Marilyn, your devotional thought is also right on target.  What is happening in your life these last few days.  I miss your interesting postings.

Pat, that sounds like a lovely trip with lots of beautiful scenery.  Do hope you all can pace your trip so you don't have hours and hours of driving all at once.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Ruth

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."

I'm whispering "I was lost,

Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble

and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not trying to be strong.

I'm professing that I'm weak

And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not bragging of success.

I'm admitting I have failed

And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not claiming to be perfect,

My flaws are far too visible

But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I still feel the sting of pain.

I have my share of heartaches

So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not holier than thou,

I'm just a simple sinner

Who received God's good grace.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

I didn't write this, just sharing

God Is...

He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End!
He is the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all!
He is the Architect of the universe and
The Manager of all times.
He always was, He always is, and He always will be...
Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!
He was bruised and brought healing!
He was pierced and eased pain!
He was persecuted and brought freedom!
He was dead and brought life!
He is risen and brings power!
He reigns and brings Peace!
The world can't understand him,
The armies can't defeat Him,
The schools can't explain Him, and
The leaders can't ignore Him.
Herod couldn't kill Him,
The Pharisees couldn't confuse Him, and
The people couldn't hold Him!
Nero couldn't crush Him,
Hitler couldn't silence Him,
The New Age can't replace Him, and
Donahue can't explain Him away!
He is light, love, longevity, and Lord.
He is goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God.
He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure.
His ways are right,
His word is eternal,
His will is unchanging, and
His mind is on me.
He is my Redeemer,
He is my Savior,
He is my guide, and
He is my peace!
He is my Joy,
He is my comfort,
He is my Lord, and
He rules my life!
I serve Him because His bond is love,
His burden is light, and
His goal for me is abundant life.
I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise,
The power of the powerful,
The ancient of days, the ruler of rulers,
The leader of leaders, the overseer of the overcomers, and
The sovereign Lord of all that was and is and is to come.
And if that seems impressive to you, try this for size.
His goal is a relationship with ME!
He will never leave me,
Never forsake me,
Never mislead me,
Never forget me,
Never overlook me, and
Never cancel my appointment in His appointment book!
When I fall, He lifts me up!
When I fail, He forgives!
When I am weak, He is strong!
When I am lost, He is the way!
When I am afraid, He is my courage!
When I stumble, He steadies me!
When I am hurt, He heals me!
When I am broken, He mends me!
When I am blind, He leads me!
When I am hungry, He feeds me!
When I face trials, He is with me!
When I face persecution, He shields me!
When I face problems, He comforts me!
When I face loss, He provides for me!
When I face Death, He carries me Home!
He is everything for everybody, everywhere,
Every time, and every way.
He is God, He is faithful.
I am His, and He is mine!
My Father in heaven can whip the father of thiship the father of this world.
So, if you're wondering why I feel so secure, understand this...
He said it and that settles it.
God is in control, I am on His side, and
That means all is well with my soul.
Everyday is a blessing for GOD Is!

Worship: Honor This Purpose
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and
said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless."
--Genesis 17:1
Without argument, most things are at their best when they are
fulfilling their purpose and design.
For instance, a piano is made with a specific purpose: to produce
music. However, I happen to know that someone once stood on a piano
in order to put a fastener of some kind in the ceiling. Some
artistic women have used piano tops as family picture galleries. I
have seen piano tops that were cluttered filing cabinets or wide
library shelves.
There is an intelligent design in the creation of a piano. The
manufacturer did not announce: "This is a good piano. It has at
least 19 uses!" No, the designer had only one thought in mind:
"This piano will have the purpose and potential of sounding forth
beautiful music!"...
Do not miss the application of truth here. God was saying to
Abraham, "You may have some other idea about the design and
purpose for your life, but you are wrong! You were created in My
image to worship Me and to glorify Me. If you do not honor this
purpose, your life will degenerate into shallow, selfish,
humanistic pursuits.  Men Who Met God, 23.

"Lord, so many lives today have indeed degenerated into 'shallow,
selfish, humanistic pursuits.' Work through me this week to help
people with whom I come in contact to see the one purpose for
which You created us. Amen."

Whew!  I don't think I would stay on the line as long as that guy did!  Yes, Big Brother is watching, and I'm sure we would all be shocked if we knew how much personal information he has on each of us.  Scary stuff, even to contemplate.

Larry, I am wishing for you more energy today.  ((hugs))

Carol, I agree that it is so sweet to spend time talking with kids/grandkids, especially when the relationship is strong and good.

I have a mile-long (feels like it anyway) list of to-dos today, trying to get ready to go to family reunion later this week.  In addition to everything else, I have to go to the doctor!  :-\  I am not sick, but they won't refill my meds again until I see the doc, so........

Ruth, I enjoyed your post; so true!

Etta Sue, along with bits and pieces of others' personalities, I want your socibility!  ( Is that how you spell it?  No time to look it up just now.)  Anyway, to just go meet friends for social occasions.  How fun!

My new friend Pat from church cut my hair and redid my color for me this morning; so I should be good to go for another two weeks anyway. :)  I am so glad God put her in my life!  I think we are good for each other.

Nards, prayers for baby Kristi going up before the throne.  I pray you will find the answer to this problem very soon!

Hi, Marilyn!  How you doing today?

I know I probably missed someone, but it is almost time for that appointment, so gotta run!

Just thought I would stop in and say HEY! Hi Janet, Hi Larry, Hi Suzanne,Hi Karma, Hi Ruth Ann, Hi Ruth and Sue, Hi Jane, Hi Etta Sue thank you for the nice compliment, you really started my day off with bunch of good feelings. I had a nice conversation with Suzanne on the phone this morning.

Not much else is new here, I go to work, I come home, same thing day after day. I am all well now after the round of mega dose of Antibiotics in a Z-pack. I start the next round of Physical Therapy tomorrow.

Went to lunch (dinner) after church yesterday with the Pastor and a visiting missionary from Ecuador. Hey Jane we ate at the pantry in the very same booth there in the corner.I had a taco Salad and  Hot green tea. Pastor had asked me to add another hat to my head yesterday and be the hostess for the Missionary. So he took me to lunch too.

Hi, friends,

Well, the truck had "surgery" today so my budget is dented. CONSIDERABLY!

Then, my surgery is tomorrow.

I'm praising the Lord that when I put new batteries in my almost never used new little digital camera, the pictures I thought I had lost from my trip to England are THERE!!!

So, I'm going to download them to my computer tonight - QUICK - before they get away.

I love each of you.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

Oh, Ruth Ann, what wonderful news!  I hate it when I lose photos.  God watch over you during and after your surgery tomorrow is my prayer.  Aren't auto repair costs atrocious? :o

Marilyn, I'll wager that you greatly enjoyed getting to visit with the missionary.  Our pastor is going to start having more missionaries come and speak to us; I will enjoy that.

I was going great guns on my to-do list----until time to go to the Dr.  Then my day came to a screeching halt---well, a BIG slow down anyway.  They said they were behind, come back in 45 minutes.  So I ran a couple errands, went back, they took me into the little room, took my temp, BP, etc---then told me the Dr. had to go to the hospital to deliver a baby.  So I sat..........and sat............and sat.  Finally he came, and I got my prescriptions redone.  But I sure didn't get a lot more done at home.  There is a new baby girl here, though!  (NOT at my house!)

Dr. Plumlee told me he had baseball sized hail at his house last night.  Thank God it missed us!  We are needing to get our 5th wheel trailer out so we can get it ready to go; but are wary of doing it while it is hailing every few days.

The poor weathermen on TV have almost lost their voices, there have  been so many storms!

MY HUSBAND, Robert, and I were watching television the last Saturday evening in April. When he went to bed, I stayed up to see the end of a program. Before retiring, I turned the clocks ahead for daylight-saving time.
The next morning, the alarm wakened us for early church. When we arrived, it was still dark, and no one was there. "I can't imagine what's wrong," I said. "I turned the clocks ahead."
"So did I," Robert quietly replied.
