Eccl. 5:2.  "Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter anything hastily before God.  For God is in heaven, and you on earth; therefore let your words be few."

If someone tells you that Al lives at 425 Walnut Street, San Carlos, California, and if you happen to have a map of the town of San Carlos, California, why then you can pretty well pinpoint where Al lives.

The Scripture tells us that "God is in heaven, and you on earth."  But you probably don't have a map of heaven, and you're not quite sure how to drive there anyway.  Actually, the Scripture tells us that the only way to find Him is to "seek Him with the whole heart." (Deut. 4:29).  In terms we can understand, that means you have to be willing to turn over the very core of your being to the living God, all the while admitting that He's your rightful Lord and Master.

With that attitude, you'll arrive in the very center of His Presence and goodness!  Then, still with that attitude, when you repeat your Lord's words in prayer and say, "Our Father in heaven," it'll mean that your just admitting  to Him that your entire prayer is submitted to the loving and caring God Whom you worship.  By those words, you'll be telling Him, simply, that He's your GOD.  Is He?

Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah
(Click to hear music)

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
Psalm 73:24

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim thro' this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy pow'rful hand;
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more,
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through;
Strong Deliv'rer, strong Deliv'rer,
Be Thou still my strength and shield,
Be Thou still my strength and shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell's destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan's side;
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to Thee,
I will ever give to Thee.

I can't be first.  It is late!  Everyone must have found a cool spot and are staying in it!

I am all ready to go to a Memorial about 25 miles away.  I used to work with this lady for about 25 years.  She was only 4 years older than me.  She was one of those ladies that was really funny but when you told someone else what she said, it wasn't funny at all.  SHE had to say it to be funny!  Lots of good memories of Gayle.

I don't know what the temp is right now but it is to be above 90 all week!!  Whew!

Good Morning!  Seems I am first to post after Al today.

We are about to go exercise, just watching a little news.  Israel crossed over the Lebanon border overnight, but has withdrawn.  This is a dangerous powderkeg in the Middle East, with no end in sight.  God will never allow Israel to be defeated!  (I read the end of the Book.)

Talk to you after I get back home.  I have to take Beth to the hospital for sonograms of her bladder and kidneys at 11:00.

Oops!  There is Etta Sue!!!  Good morning to you, dear lady!  :)

Al:  That is the message in a nutshell - well said.  Seeking with the whole heart is my intent.  Thank you.

Carol

Well, I thought I would be first for once but Janet & Etta Sue came in here - Good Day to you two!

Any lifeguard will tell you the difficulty of saving a person who is flailing around in the water, struggling to do it on his own, trying yet unable to save himself.  Until that person submits to the person trying to save him and gives him control, it is a dangerous situation.  But when that person finally submits (or passes out), the lifeguard can take control of the situation.

How long will we continue to thrash about in the sea of life, trying to do things our way?  How long before we finally admit that we can't do it alone?  How long before we fully submit to God and let Him be in control?  Isn't it time we let God have control?

Lord, I know that I am incapable of doing it on my own.  Without you, I am lost and will surely fail.  My God, I surrender all to you.  Into Your hands, I surrender all.  Amen.

Sorry, just some thoughts rambling around in my head this morning as I considered the words left by Al this morning.....Good morning brothers and sisters!
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Hi everyone.  I am writing on a computer here at the Saturn dealer.  I had to bring my car in for an oil change and this is a good way to pass the time until it is ready.  Fortunately this is my fourth oil change and is free.  This is a nice feature and helps reduce the cost of the other three oil changes when averaged out.

It was 95 degrees here yesterday and very humid and suppose to be the same today and for several days with no rain in sight.  They did have a quarter inch of rain yesterday in Atlanta but we didn't get a drop.  I will get my running around down this morning (have to stop at the library on my way back home from here) and then will stay inside the rest of the day.

Al, that was a fine devotional this morning and Ohenry your additional comments are certainly correct.

Janet, I am glad you had such a wonderful weekend.  Hope the tests turn out well for Beth.

Etta Sue, sorry to read about the loss of your friend.  I agree that certain people have a knack of being able to say things in a humorous manner.  My wife does that all the time as has a quick mind and often keeps the group laughing.

Candice, gald to read that you had a nice weekend.

Ruth Ann, glad your deadline is over.  Hope we see more of your postings in the days ahead.

Pat, it sounds like it is a good thing that you have a basement where you can find a cool spot.

Marilyn, perhaps your landlord will fix your screendoor for you.  I doubt that you will be able to salvage the existing screening material, but I may be wrong.  Glad your neighbor is going to help you.

Jane, I don't think I could hold up very well to playing and singing for an hour.  Fortunately our packages of songs take only about 30 minutes and I am ready to stop when we get to the end of the package.

Carol, years ago I attended a two week management course in Denver and one of the trips we took was to the Coors Brewery and it was extremely clean, even though it didn't smell really great.  They are considered to have good management and being a good company to work for.  I assume that is still the case.  The class also stressed the management style of Nordstroms Department stores, particularly their customer friendly attitude and the authority they gave their sales people to satisfy the customer by going the extra mile.

We had a very good Sunday School class yesterday and a fine sermon.  Our minister has been preaching for the alst 8 weeks on the Lord's Prayer.  Following church we did go to the new place I mentioned yesterday.  It wasn't crowded, which was a big plus, and the food was certainly acceptable and reasonably priced.

Guess I had better sign off.  I thought my car would be ready before I finished as it is now about 45 minutes since I got here.  Shouldn't be long now.

Good Morning Everyone.

Al, thanks so much for the good word today and Carl, thanks so much for your additional thoughts that you added.  All have blessed my heart.  I needed these words today for our Father.

Hi Etta Sue.  Yes, this heatwave is almost unbearable but somehow I just think of our winter blizzards!  :eek:

Carol, nice to see you posting so early.  Actually I didn't sleep well last night due to the heat so ended up in my lounge chair in the basement all night.

Hi Janet~! :hello:

I'll be back.  I had an important phone call today at 9:15 am and just now got off the phone from that call.  So lots to do before Kathleen gets back here from being at her home all weekend.

good morning, and hello to all  :)

boy seems like this heat is hitting everyone, makes me want to go snow skiing. today looks uneventful for the most part, besides leaving the house for work tonight. i was supposed to be babysitting my youth pastors dog while he goes home for a couple of days but the family called and said they wanted to see the dog too. my dad's dad is here from florida for the night and to be honest i don't get along with him good at all. my mom told me he's going to be getting the citzen of the year award for Florida in October. he has ths thing where he collects teddy bears for orphans of hurricane victims, or kids in afghanistan and then gives them to them. and hooray for that, but he's jewish, and pratically makes fun of our family's faith. not to my parents, just to me, through e-mail. so amongst other things with my awful friends, i have a grandparent staying at my house who calls me alien, and candy..and like i said in the challenge forum, i hate being called candy.

so israel isn't doing to good eh? well, God says whoever prays for israel is like praying for their own, and will be blessed. and that's what we need to do, we need to pray for them like we have prayed for the US in during the times of 9/11, or when the Katrina hit, we need to pray with the urgency of Israel is our own land. call me crazy but i also think we should pray for the people who are bombing israel, because i'm sure there are still Christians in that country being persecuted beyond persecuted, and that more christians shall be saved by the work of these people. granted there will not be peace in israel until Jesus comes, but that doesn't mean good can come through while war is still going on.

just some thoughts, i guess. as i try to keep my mind off my own life. blech [that's a created word that i use a lot, except i think that was the first time that i've used it on here.]

i saw in the other forum some of you were having VBS', that's awesome! from being on a kids ministry team i think interaction is one of the biggest things.  you'd be surprised how much kids observe. so when whoever said they saw some people tapping their foot, dance-be crazy! it will get the kids to be more open with you, and in turn, when lesson time comes they will also be more in tuned to listen. i'm actually leaving sunday to go to harrisburg, pa [about 3 hours from my house] to do a VBS/kids crusade at a church with Crosswalk for a 3 or 4 day one i think, so as i'm praying for ours to come i'll definitly pray blessings on you guys.

i guess i should probably do some school work, at this rate i'm not going to graduate until december. hope everyone has a nice, air conditioned day!

Oh, Candice, it's so good to hear from you.  I will be praying today about the relationship between you and your grandfather.

"When someone is trying to get into your house, or if you hear a
noise outside your house," keep your car keys next to your bed on the
night stand and just press the panic alarm on your car.It will go off from
most everywhere inside your house and keep honking until your battery
runs down or until you reset it with  the button on the key chain."

A lot of burglars will cut your telephone line before breaking in so
this is a real good idea.  Could save your life.

I just got this in an email and thought it would be good to pass along.

Larry, Alco's stores really need some of that training you mentioned!  I went to return some things I bought last week that didn't fit, and they gave me a hard time; I had to get other items for the same amount or more, fill out a form; show my driver's license, etc.  I wouldn't even buy anything there if we had a choice of stores!  :(  At least the lady who waited on me was pleasant about it, and I know she doesn't make the rules.  So I was patient with the process.  It was either that or keep the items and find someone who could use them and give them away.

The oppressive heat continues here.

Beth's sonogram didn't show a cause for her difficulty, but did show she has stones in her gallbladder.  They haven't caused her any troluble as yet, thank God.

I must do some framing for a student who wants to enter things into the fair tomorrow.  See you later!

I got that one in the mail today too Janet.

My front door now closes with ease. Still need to do the screen door. I went to Wm's today and took  pr. of my pants that I needed to put a zipper in. I hate doing zippers, it is the taking out of the old one that I don't like; anyway I got it all put in. The pants have been laying around here for 6 months.

I also washed my car.  should have walked the dogs but didn't.
