How To Have The Joy Of The Lord
Matthew 25:21 says...
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
John 15:11-12 says...
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Morning Devotional...That they also may be one in Us: that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me. John 17:21
Today the church is hopelessly fragmented and this detracts from the gospel witness.
The world sees competing organizations with different messages about salvation and the Christian life. No clear note is sounded.
The Lord Jesus also prayed, "Sanctify them through Thy truth. Thy Word is truth" (Jn. 17:17).
The Scriptures humbly studied and obeyed will unite God's people and be a powerful witness to a confused, lost world. Our Lord's longing for His people is for their unity in truth and in love.
"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" (Ps. 133:1).

Acts 4:32
And the multitude of them that believed
were of one heart and of one soul:
neither said any of them that ought of the things
which he possessed was his own;
but they had all things common.
Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like that to that above.
Before our Father's throne
We pour our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one
Our comforts and our cares.
We share each other's woes,
Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.
When we asunder part,
It gives us inward pain;
But we shall still be joined in heart,
And hope to meet again.
This glorious hope revives
Our courage by the way;
While each in expectation lives,
And longs to see the day.
From sorrow, toil and pain,
And sin, we shall be free,
And perfect love and friendship reign
Through all eternity.

Our fourth child, Laura, who is 17, just went on her first ever date this evening. I always thought of her as my "baby", as she was just that, my baby for 8 years until Ximena, our youngest, was born. It feels so funny to have her go out like that. But I had fun watching them. The boy drove up, she walked down the steps, he got out of the car and pulled a bunch of pink flowers out and gave it to her, kind of akward like, kind of like he were saying, "There, here it is." She more or less grabbed them (nicely), but in that akward manner that young people sometimes have. It was fun to watch.
I thank God for cellphones. They provide a lot of security at times :)
Ursula
Wow, I bet this is so scarey! I don't think I will let any of my kids date. hmmm... I could be wrong. How did it go?
2 Cronicles 6 : 18
"But will God really dwell on earth with men?
The Heavens, even the highest Heavens,
cannot contain You.
How much less this temple I have built.
As Solomon dedicated the Temple,
he realized that this tremendous
accomplishment of great beauty
was far too insignificant and small to
the Creator of the Universe.
But, God did choose to dwell with mortals.
That is what the life of Jesus is about
(John 1 : 11-18)
God is awesome and beyond description,
far too holy to be expected to associate
with flawed human beings.
As God, however, He has chosen to love us
and come and live with us so we could return
to Him and share is His glory.
Prayer...
Almighty God and Sovereign Father,
You are more magnificent than my
words can describe and more gracious
than my heart can fully grasp.
Thank You for Your glory that is beyond
human comprehension and Your grace
that bridges the awesome distance
between us.
Thank You, dear Father, for being God.
In Jesus name i pray. AMEN.

I know that there is nothing better for men
than to be happy and do good while they live.
That everyone may eat and drink, and find
satisfaction in all his toil - this is the gift of God.
THE BLESSING OF TODAY
Let us live in the blessing of Today...
Cherishing our memories,
but not holding them too tightly...
Treasuring our dreams,
but not building our future on them.
Let us live in the present, rejoicing in the gifs
God lends to every moment of Today.
Love and prayerfully for you all

I love this quote from Mark Twain...
QuoteIn the space of one hundred and seventy-six years the Lower Mississippi has shortened itself 242 miles. That is an average of a trifle over one mile and a third per year. Therefore, any calm person, who is not blind or idiotic, can see that in the Old O”litic Silurian Period, just a million years ago next November, the Lower Mississippi River was upward of one million three hundred thousand miles long and stuck out over the Gulf of Mexico like a fishing-rod. And by the same token any person can see that seven hundred and forty-two years from now the Lower Mississippi will be only a mile and three-quarters long, and Cairo and New Orleans will have joined their streets together, and be plodding comfortably along under a single mayor and a mutual board of aldermen. There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.

Good morning all! My two girls didn't want me to sleep in today. I shut them out of the bedroom around 4 a.m., thinking I would go back to la-la land. Well, I did until the big girl decided to be right outside my door and meow!!!! Thinking they were out of food, I got up and gave them food. While they were eating I sneaked back to bed after shutting the door once again. MEOW!!!! again right outside my door. This time I couldn't manage to plug my ears and not hear her. So I got up. And since I am up and about, both girls are giving me the silent treatment. Not paying a bit of attention to me...I could be invisible for all they know. 8) 8)
I am glad I mowed the grass yesterday because in the late afternoon, it came a thunder/lightening storm and a half. Sheets of rain was coming down. Enough is enough.
Today, so far, it is sunny. Bright sunshine out there. But the accurate weatherman (LOL) on one of the channels on TV says, 'early evening showers for tonight but nice weather for the weekend with occassional showers'. Yeah, right! We have heard that story before. ::) ::)
Nothing planned today. Talked to Jerry and he is doing okay so far. I read up on 'Shingles' and it could be painful, it could not be painful. It could last 4-6 weeks. It could not last 4-6 weeks. Seems nothing can be done except ease the itching and to try Calamine lotion first. Now if it on the face, then see a doctor. Otherwise just fast-forward 4-6 weeks and it is over. Some people though still have pain occassionally in the infected area. Wow! But it could be worse.
Oops! Almost forgot! Did everyone see the new and improved Nards and Karma? Way to go, guys!!! Karma doesn't look pregnant. I'm not sure if Nards does or not. ??? ???<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))

"And He said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth" (Luke 12:15).
The sin of covetousness perhaps has been the most besetting sin of the human race since Eve, and God finally wrote it into the Decalog itself: "Thou shalt not covet" (Exodus 20:17). The apostle Paul even made the sweeping statement: "The love of money is the root of all evil" (I Timothy 6:10). "For . . . no . . . covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God" (Ephesians 5:5).
In view of such warnings, the Christian should indeed greatly beware of covetousness. Nevertheless, one of the distressing characteristics predicted for the "last days" is a great increase of covetousness, even among professing Christians. "In the last days . . . men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous. . . . Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof" (II Timothy 3:1-2,5).
It is sad to see so many modern "Christian" movements promoting what might be called a "prosperity cult," teaching that "gain is godliness." Stressing "positive mental attitude," "self-help," "creative visualization," and various other supposed spiritual psychotherapies, these modern false teachers and their affluent lifestyles have deluded multitudes of coveting Christians into thinking they have some sort of divine right to material prosperity.
The Greek word for "covetous," describing men of the last days (II Timothy 3:2) is the same as that for "love of money" (I Timothy 6:10), an undue attention to material things. It is also used (in negative form) in Hebrews 13:5, and this is the true Christian standard. "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." HMM
Good Morning one and All. Thank you Pat and Ria for the devotions today I have also added one from my Days of Praise devotional for today.
When I read this devotional I thought of some of the big time wealthy preachers who come on TV and appear to exploit the wealth. I have nothing against them they are excellent preachers. It is just that I thought of them. No big deal.
Nards and Karma I love the new looks. Nards you really got a close up of yourself. Good protrait of Karma.
Jerry I do hope you will be well sooner that you think.
Karma you said you are the moderator on one of the photo sites. What site is that? Can you post a link?
Well I must read the prayer thread and see who needs prayer. then get ready to go to work.
Etta Sue you are lucky to only be hearing meows. When I hear barks in the middle of the night it scares the day lights out of me. Sometimes Bebe wakes up a couple of hours before I want to get up like 4 am; and kind of makes little whining noises. I have yet to figure out what she wants. I have tried letting them out and she won't go, I try petting her or scratching her to no avail. I have come to the conclusion that she just wants me to get up.
TTYL
Good Morning!
Karmat, I LOVE the new haircut! Goes well with your face. Beautiful picture! You have a great smile!
Nice new picture, Nards.
I am getting prints ready for sale again so I will be very busy all day. Might stop in later and see what everyone is up to.
Hi everyone from a hot and sticky Atlanta area. We had a bit more rain last night and the humidity is here in full force.
Ria, I do wish I could share a bit of this heat with you as it is suppose to get up to 90 degrees today and was 80 around 8 am.
I hate to think what our air conditioning bill is going to be as we now have 2 units going with the new heat pump. At least it is keeping our daugher's room nice and cool.
Our evening out with friends got off to a strange start as we went to two different restruarants. We waited about 20 minutes and went ahead and ordered and they did about the same thing. We came on home and they called then and we went over to their house and played Euchre, which was a new game to all of us although I had learned to play it on the computer. We had a good time in spite of the earlier mixup.
Karma, I like you new hair style and Nards I like your new picture as we can now see you out of the shadows.
Sure sorry to hear that Jerry has shingles. I have had several friends who have had them and my sister-in-law has also had them. Sometimes they are very painful, but not always. Jerry, do hope you have a very light case.
Am going to be brief today, at least for now, as have several things I need to get busy on. Hope everyone has a wonderful day, I plan on doing just that.
Larry~It is only supposed to get up to 62 degrees here. :-( We had to turn our heat back on for the girls. They were freezing last night.
"Euchre" Is this a card game?

a quote from Marilyn - you are so right. I have often thought of this rather twisting of the verses to make everything you can as fast as you can. Our own two pastors have not taken pay raises for the last two years - and the youngest one is going to be a father this year. Really, they do need the money but these two are living lives of real committment to the Word!
It is raining and what a wonderful gift from God as we really need this moisture.
Al: That was just great news on your heart test.
Carol
Well I think the new is good. I also think the old is good. But I don't think the new is "strange." I think both old and new are strange. Karma is just a strange character, that's all. You can't change that.
Carol- thanks for the comment re/heart test. The doc called back after we got home. He'd been thinking about the situation, wondering what was really causing the swelling. Now he wants to do a CTscan of my "middle," anasmuch as that may be pressing down upon the portal vein, which could be causing the swelling. So that's the latest.
Marilyn, you don't have sleep apnea, do you? I read of a lady once whose dog was waking her up every time she stopped breathing. Not trying to scare you, but if you snore a lot or wake up with headaches frequently, it might be worth getting it checked.
Yep, Al, Karma's a strange character, that's for sure. As pretty as she is, she could have picked a lot of guys, and she chose little old me.
I must be wanting something. I seem to be buttering her up more than usual. Hmmmm. What could it be???
Good morning!
Karma: you look very elegant with your new haircut, very feminine.
Pat: I love the song you posted today. I remember hearing the song you posted for the first time when I was a little girl in Chile, at a funeral of a little child, the mother cried and cried and cried. She was so sad. Later on, everytime we sang that song in church, she always cried. Funny how I really like that song even though it has such sad pictures associated with it.
My husband started a choir at church since we came here, and this coming Sunday we sing in church for the first time, a different song though, not the one you posted. I forgot the title, but it starts: "If you believe and I believe, and we together pray."
Sonya: Laura came back on time looking peaceful and happy. I'm glad she had a good time - life is hard for young people these days. Her beautiful pink flowers are on our kitchen table now for all of us to enjoy. She's a wonderful daughter.
OK, off to work again. You all have a good day!
Ursula
This was in my email --its long but so cute--
Please be careful. This person has found her way into my house and could also go to yours. A very weird thing has happened. A strange old lady has moved into my house. I have no idea who she is, where she came from, or how she got in. I certainly did not invite her. All I know is that one day she wasn't there, and the next day she was!
She is a clever old lady and manages to keep out of sight for the most part, but whenever I pass a mirror, I catch a glimpse of her. And, whenever I look in the mirror to check my appearance, there she is hogging the whole thing, completely obliterating my gorgeous face and body. This is very rude! I have tried screaming at her, but she just screams back.
The least she could do is offer to pay part of the rent, but no. Every once in a while, I find a dollar bill stuck in a coat pocket, or some loose change under a sofa cushion, but it is not nearly enough. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I think she is stealing money from me. I go to the ATM and withdraw $100, and a few days later, it's all gone!
I certainly don't spend money THAT fast, so I can only conclude the old lady is pilfering from me. You'd think she would spend some of that money to buy wrinkle cream. And money isn't the only thing I think she is stealing. Food seems to disappear at an alarming rate, especially the good stuff like ice cream, cookies, and candy. She must have a real sweet tooth, but she'd better watch it, because she is really packing on the pounds. I suspect she realizes this, and to make herself feel better, she is tampering with my scale to make me think I am putting on weight, too.
For an old lady, she is quite childish. She likes to play nasty games, like going into my closets when I'm not home and altering my clothes so they don't fit. And she messes with my files and papers so I can't find anything This is particularly annoying since I am extremely neat and organized.
She has found other imaginative ways to annoy me. She gets into my mail, newspapers, and magazines before I do and blurs the print so I can't read it. And she has done something really sinister to the volume controls on my TV, radio, and telephone. Now, all I hear are mumbles and whispers. She has done other things-like make my stairs steeper, my vacuum heavier and all the knob and faucets harder to turn. She even made my bed higher so that getting into and out of it is a real challenge.
Lately, she has been fooling with my groceries before I put them away, applying glue to the lids, making it almost impossible for me to open the jars. She has taken the fun out of shopping for clothes. When I try something on, she stands in front of the dressing room mirror and monopolizes it. She looks totally ridiculous in some of those outfits, plus, she keeps me from seeing how great they look on me.
Just when I thought she couldn't get any meaner, she proved me wrong. She came along when I went to get my picture taken for my driver's license, and just as the camera shutter clicked, she jumped in front of me!
I hope she never finds out where YOU live
That's neat, JOYCE! ::) I've seen that before and I can certainly identify .... who IS that strange old lady anyway? :P
NARDS~I like your new look, too!
ETTA SUE~The cousins only have a reunion every 2 years ... so it won't be this year, but possibly next year, that I'll venture in your direction again. K?
JERRY~I can sympathize ... and pray that your bout with the shingles will be short and (somewhat) pain free.
I'll just say "hey there" to all y'all else who come in here cause I'm on the run again ... gotta get ready for our singing stint at the Nursing Home. :P
HELLO!!!! ;D ;) :) :D
I just got my new Nikon D70 in the mail. The batteries are charging. The camera feels good in my hands even without the batteries. It's going to be a busy weekend ...
Ursula
Ursula!!! That is way cool!! I can't wait to see some shots from that camera. Have fun!

"Sing unto the Lord, all the earth." Psalm 96:1
Words: Isaac Watts, The Psalms of David, 1719
Music: "Ariel," Wolfgang A. Mozart (1756-1791); arranged by Lowell Mason, 1836
Let all on earth their voices raise
To sing the choicest psalm of praise,
To sing and bless Jehovah's Name:
His glory let the heathens know,
His wonders to the nations show,
And all His saving works proclaim.
The heathens know Thy glory, Lord,
The wondering nations read Thy Word,
In Britain is Jehovah known:
Our worship shall no more be paid
To gods which mortal hands have made;
Our Maker is our God alone.
He framed the globe, He built the sky,
He made the shining worlds on high,
And reigns complete in glory there:
His beams are majesty and light;
His beauties, how divinely bright!
His temple, how divinely fair!
Come the great day, the glorious hour,
When earth shall feel His saving power,
And barbarous nations fear His Name;
Then shall the race of man confess
The beauty of His holiness,
And in His courts His grace proclaim.

Ohhhhh, Ursula! What a wonderful camera to get! That's on my way distant wish list.
Did you get it from a local camera shop or did you buy it online? I see Marianne on Photo-Sense has the loan of one till July and is taking photos right now with it. Nice too!
Well, I went to the training seminar today for my little job I'm going to be doing on election day. I'm a Registration Officer. We work 12 hours on Election day straight through.
I sure hope that we have a change in our government!
Hi Soni!
Nice to see you posting Jerry. I sure hope that your shingles won't be around too long. Please look after yourself, bro.
Cute little story, Joyce! I agree, Jane!
The camera is beautiful!!! It's quite big and has a good weight.
Pat - I bought it from Kerrisdale Cameras in Vancouver, over the phone. I'd been talking to two Vancouverites from DPChallenge, ccraft and zeuszen, and asked about stores there and so on. Kerrisdale had the camera in stock and was very curteous and prompt, so I'm glad I went with them. We will be driving to Vancouver in July, and I will be going in to the store and meet them in person.
We're planning to also visit Victoria and Nanaimo, and drive up the western side of the island and camp a couple days by the ocean. We also plan to visit the Aquarium in Vancouver. That's our Summer vacation this year. Maybe, just maybe, we'll also drive down to Laramie, Wyoming and visit our son, and possibly do some camping around our old state, especially in the Big Horns.
OK - I should be working but I'm playing. I think I better try to get some work done.
PS - I told my husband I would try to figure out how to make some money with my camera to "retroactively finance the habit" -- ANY IDEAS ANYONE??? I've sold some pictures at DPCPrints, but I think that to make it work I would need to advertise. I have no idea how to advertise. I don't even know if I'm ever going to be good enough to make any real money with photography, but it would be fun!
Ursula
What do you mean, "ever going to be good enough"? You already are!!! Shame on you, Ursula. :) I love all your photos. I agree we need more advertising to sell our prints.
A good place to start is go to your local art gallery and see what they have for art shows. I entered a photo in a challenge here on my city. Another way to get your name out there is go to your local hotel or coffee shops and see if you can hang a print or 2 on the walls. The hotel here is letting me hang 13 of my prints in the main hall of the hotel. that is exciting. I tried to get one of the local frame shops here to frame them for me but they couldn't afford it so I guess I will have to spend a couple hundred on frames.
Do you have a business card? Hand it out to people. My husband is good at that. Good luck!
Thanks, Sonya!
There's a couple neat cafes in town, I'm wondering if they'd let me hang a couple pictures. There's quite a number of artists in town, especially a very good watercolourist. I wonder if I could "get in" somehow. I like the idea of business cards. I made some for my database business, but never used them. It might work here.
Thanks again!
Ursula
Definitely go for it, Ursula. Your photos are absolutely wonderful.
Maybe you could arrange some kind of "subscription" service with the Cafe or other establishment where you change the photo each month or so and stick a little business card in the corner of it.
During his temptation in the wilderness, what Old Testament book did Jesus quote to rebuke Satan?

Jerry: Shingles can be nasty so I trust that you get well quick, try not to worry as that will prolong your shingles.
Pat: On election day try to remember to take your meals and lots to drink with you because you are not allowed to leave until it is over. You can have someone bring you a bite to eat but you are not allowed to leave.
Sue & Bruce have gone to a provincial park in Orilla for a time of rest. They will be back home on June 26th. or so.
Karma: I like the new look.
Tomorrow I will be spending the day with my aunt and thus far I do not know what or were we are going so it will be a surprise to the both of us when we head out.
Hello Ria. :)
Hello everyone!
It has been so long since I signed in here. I do come in and read the prayer requests every few days (or mainly nights) so I can add my prayers to yours. Also I sometimes read New Every Morning, when I have time.
Being care giver is a handful sometimes, and I have had to back off a little bit. It is hard to concentrate when your nerves are on edge.
I hope all of you are doing OK. I guess we all have our ups and downs, but thank the Lord, He never slumbers or sleeps! We know He is with us all the way.
Bye now,
Love, Janice
Ohhh, Janice you have been so missed. I'm so glad to see your post tonight. We'll continue to pray for you. Yes, I know from experience that caregiving can be quite stressful.
Yes, Ruth, That's the truth about not being able to leave. I used to do this quite a bit in Richmond Hill but have not done it in Guelph. I have a school very close to where I live so that's handy.
Well, it is good to see everyone today. The new picture of Karma and also of Nards has added to the discussions today. Nice pictures. Now all we need is ALL of Nard's face and we will be satisfied.
Ursala's 17 year old is having a date and Sonja wonders if she ever let her kids have dates and so it goes. It is all a part of life. We raised three daughters and had the experiences all parents have when they begin to think of boys. I am so thankful that all our children are faithful Christians and also all our grandchildren.
Girls and boys growing up and beginning to think of the opposite sex is the way things are. It is in the plan. It is human nature. It is the way God made us. What is scary is the influence of the world. It is absolutely necessary that our children accept the love of Jesus in their lives and adopt the principles of righteousness so when the time comes when they are faced with the pull of their peers to go in the wrong direction they will have the faith to stand up for what is right.
Being a parent is a serious thing. Children need to know that they are loved and that they are important. They need to belong. There is nothing more important that a good Christian family with good roll models. And I need to get off my soap box.
Mark 10:13-16 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Eph 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Titus 1:6 An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.
Prov 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. (NIV)

Good news! My daughter will be arriving from North Carolina, with her husband, daughter, son, three dogs and two cats a week from today. They'll only be staying at their farmhouse, 25 miles from me, for about six weeks, though.
Usually they come earlier in June and stay until after Labor Day. But this year the Latin lessons the 13 year old girl is taking will be starting the second week in August so ...
I have posted a prayer request for my client Gloria. Please pray for her.
Closing up early tonight.
Have felt "under the weather" today and had to do the training for the Election and now I just want to get to my bed.
