Morning Devotional...

Matt. 4:1.  "From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Many, many church people in our day have missunderstood Jesus.  They think He softly spoke only a gospel of love, joy, and peace.  But Matthew tells us about a slightly different message.

Of course that message needs to be understood in the context of the times in which it was spoken, and in that era, if your king was coming to you and was, in fact "upon you" (literal translation), and if you had been in rebellion against Him, then you needed to bow all the way to the ground at His feet.  You needed to confess your sin and to receive forgiveness - or die!  It's your KING!  He's HERE!  You're out of options!  Total repentance alone is appropriate.

It's not about happiness and joy and love (which are all good things), but it's about submission and about replacing you with your rightful King on the throne of your life.

That's the message Jesus preached everywhere and to everyone.  Have you heard it - to the core of your being?  Have you responded to it by cryiing out, "Lord, I've sinned!  Have mercy upon me a sinner, for I'm undone!?"  Your King is upon you.

Only a Sinner
(Click to hear music)

"God be merciful to me a sinner." Luke 18:13

Words: James M. Gray, 1905.
Music: Daniel B. Towner

Naught have I gotten but what I received;
Grace hath bestowed it since I have believed;
Boasting excluded, pride I abase;
I'm only a sinner, saved by grace!

Refrain

Only a sinner, saved by grace!
Only a sinner, saved by grace!
This is my story, to God be the glory—
I'm only a sinner, saved by grace!

Once I was foolish, and sin ruled my heart,
Causing my footsteps from God to depart;
Jesus hath found me, happy my case;
I now am a sinner, saved by grace!

Refrain

Tears unavailing, no merit had I;
Mercy had saved me, or else I must die;
Sin had alarmed me fearing God's face;
But now I'm a sinner saved by grace!

Refrain

Suffer a sinner whose heart overflows,
Loving his Savior to tell what he knows;
Once more to tell it would I embrace—
I'm only a sinner saved by grace!

Refrain

Nita

Good evening all! :) :)

Larry, about the Social Security thing.  I do need part B.  ChampVA, the VA insurance I have, won't be effective after I get on Medicare, UNLESS I purchase part B.  It's the other insurance they have listed I don't understand.  I don't want any prescription drug plan, or supplemental insurance.  All I need is A and B.   I think they signed Jane up with one anyway, and she had to call to have it stopped.  I know it'll all work out.  I will contact the VA if I don't hear getting closer to October.

Marilyn, I don't know who the Conny/Connie would be.  Maybe a last name will jog my memory.  I'll talk to Jane when she gets home.

Sue and I are wondering if anyone knows about a good Christian computer game..something along the line of Myst or one of those.  I saw a few, after a search, but not knowing about the graphics or game play, I don't want to order unless I know they're good.   Some say you need to have your Bible on hand for reference and clues.  That sounds good.

It's been really windy again today.

Etta Sue, I guess we'll have to practice our patience. :)  I'm still waiting for the next challenge too.

Glad you had a good time on your trip and reunion, Janet.  I have lots of those homemade memories of family times.  And don't we treasure them?  And as always, it's good to be home again. lol   I'm so happy that Beth and John went, and that she had a good time.

Hi, Pat and everyone else.

ok.  I'm outta here.  Blessings,  Nita

ps.  Hi, Al. :)  I was all ready to post, but caught myself just before you closed down for the night.  I quickly came here to tomorrow today and posted.

Hi Al...

You came to tomorrow today!  I didn't know anyone could do that!

I just saw your compatriot Jane a few hours ago - she had lunch with Marbeth, myself, and Marilyn.

Al, did you change the hymn?

I was speaking with you on Yahoo when you suddenly left!   :lol:

AHPPY BIRTHDAY JANET!!!

Well, it's time for another week.  Hope ya'll are getting ready for a good one!!!

Sue

Happy Birthday Janet!

I had a bit of a family reunion yesterday myself.  A great-Aunt turned 80 today, and there was a celebration in her honour yesterday.  Her living sister will turn 86 on Thursday.

Now I must head to bed as I have work in the morning and must get a couple of things tidied and ready before I get upstairs.

OTANJOBI OMEDETO GOZAIMASU!!

Please just enjoy it and don't worry about how it's pronounced... :D

Al, thank you for the good Word today, and a challenging message it is. :)

Yesterday I preached from 1 Samuel, chapters 13 and 14, contrasting the behavior of Saul and his son Jonathan.  Here is Jonathan's statement of faith as he prepares to move out for God, against some staggering odds :clobber: .

Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, "Come, let's go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few."

Nita: after I went to bed last night I remembered Conny's maiden name it was Bright. I had one of those senior moments when I posted yesterday.

Janet is sounds like you had a very nice time. I haven't been to a family reunion since  was  a very young mother. I think I had two kids or maybe only one. I hate to say this But I don't think I have a lot of good family memories.

Al good devotional this morning. I was so stuffed after our meal that I didn't eat any more at all yesterdy. I don't like how my  picture came out so when I edit the photos I am cutting myself out.

Hi Kevin we haven't seen much of you or Ritz lately. I did talk to Ritz for  few minutes on Skype  Friday evening.

Happy Birthday
Janet.

Good morning everyone.  Here we are on Monday, the first workday of the week.  But being retired I haven't planned work for today.

Since Cornelia has been sick we haven't been active in our small group at church but tonight we have our last meeting for this season and we are planning to go and looking forward to it.

:coffee:  I have had my morning coffee, orange juice, and cereal and it is past time for me to get ready for the day.  I hope you all have a good day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANET !

Rom 2:4-11
4   Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?
5   But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.
6   God "will give to each person according to what he has done."
7   To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
8   But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
9   There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;
10   but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

I have been a busy person, still lots to do, but I'm making headway!  :)

I see there are two new posts (phone call while trying to read) so I will read those and come back to post again.

Since no one posted, will just modify this one.  :)

Thanks for the birthday card, Pat!  <3  And for the birthday wishes, Karma, Sue, Kevin, Marilyn and Papa John.  I told Darrel last night that today would be his wife's birthday, and just reminded himn again. ;)  He told me before we got married that if I wanted him to remember things like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I would have to start reminding him about two weeks in advance.  I am late this time, but remind him I will.  :cool:

Beth and John came by a while ago to pick up some money for her.  They were going to Garden City, to Wal-Mart and then to the movies.  I hope they have fun.  So far, she is the only one of my family who has remembered that today's my birthday.  (I'm not upset.)

I must either get these carpets vacuumed or plant potatoes!  :o  So better get with it.....but first.........I want to look at the pictures I took at reunion!  :lol:

Hello everyone!  Today is the first day of a fitness challenge I joined.  Hopefully, I can shed (more than) a few extra pounds, tone what I've got, and get healthier overall.  It will last for 8 weeks with an additional 4 if we choose.

We woke up with a power outage and as we have well water (electricity) my morning schedule is all discombobulated.  So, what do I do?  I get on the computer and read.  hahahahahha

Have a great one everyone!

JANET!!!

I almost met Jane once.   :'(   Almost three years ago.  It doesn't seem possible that Jerry had his first stroke three years ago.  Remember that, Jane?

Seems like everyone is busy, busy, busy!  I know I have.  I did mow yesterday and got wet running from the garage to the house.  I finished just in time.  We had tornado warnings last evening in central Indiana but the worst part of the storms went north of me.

I made a birthday card for Walter.  He will be 76 Wednesday.  I got the card in the mailbox and then noticed all kinds of crab grass, dandelions and other weeds in my river rocks around the house.  So I pulled them all out.  I also have a load of laundry line drying.  Busy, busy, busy!

I am praying that everyone have a God-blessed Day!

Nita

Morning, all! :)  We have sunshine, but it's windy again.  I went out earlier and watered the squash, cucumbers and tomatoes.  I told Sue and Kim (sis and daughter) over and over that this was tHEIR garden, and I'm not getting involved. haha  They still want to plant seed, but haven't done it yet, as the ground has been wet.  Maybe this next week it'll all go in.  Hopefully we'll have a longer growing season.

Marilyn, now I feel bad.  I don't remember Conny Bright.  I'm getting my old school annual out and will look at pictures to see where she was.  Seeing her face might jog my memory.  I've never gone to any of our class, or school, reunions.

So you are thinking you won't like the picture of you taken with Al, Marbeth and Jane?  haha  I hate my picture taken, and I'd sure want editing rights if it was me being posted.  I understand.   But we'd still love to see you.

I really need to mow again today.  Or bathe dogs.  Something.  And there's a spot out front that I want to add bricks too, and more flowers.  I guess I'll see which one gets the attention later.

My sister, Sue, is going to meet another grandparent and pick up her 14 year old grandaughter, Trista.  She'll be spending some time with us this summer.  I don't know her, so am looking forward to getting acquainted.  I've met her, but not spent time with her.

I pray you all have a blessed day, filled with the wonder of God's love and mercy toward us who are in Christ.   "Jesus, be at home in us.  Jesus, live your Life in us.   We want to grow up into You, Lord.  You are our Dwelling place,  and we are Yours."

Judy:  That was nice you could drive the truck for your very tired hubby.  I hope that he is OK -

Janet:  Nice that you could get to the family reunion & John & Beth as well. I hope Tisie camps somewhere near us in our state as it would be really nice to meet.

Larry:  In my Bernina yahoo chat group, there is a site someone is talking about now - it is for making quilts a designated size for wounded servicepeople.  If I ever get my energy back, that is something I would like to do.

No energy - feeling very punk - Don went for a light walk & perhaps fishing off a bank.  I think when we get downhill to lower elevation, I didn acclimate this entire time for some reason.  It is lovely here.  However, we know there is a cougar & her cubs in the vicinity & I am watchful.

Sorry to cut this short -
Carol

Hi everyone.

Happy Birthday Janet and welcome back.  Glad to read that you had a nice reunion and that Beth and John were able to participate.  It sounds like you all have a wedding coming up this weekend so your busy schedule goes on.

Marilyn, Jane and Al, I look forward to seeing the pictures of your get together.

Nita, it sure sounds like you are getting involved in your garden.  We sure could use some of the moisture you all are having as it is very dry here.

Etta Sue, I agree that it sure doesn't seem like three years since Jerry had his stroke.

I don't have time to try to address everyone today so will be brief.  Should have a little more time tomorrow.  I am still spending a lot of time with my new computer and Pat's computer in getting things to work.  Our son was here for several hours yesterday and helped me and was back this morning and did more adjustments.  We are making progress but it is a big job.

Hope you've had a great birthday, Janet.

I'm only on for a few minutes and I'm going to be so annoyed if my satellite goes out due to the heavy rain we're getting--thunder and lightening.

I will close down the computer and see if I can get back in awhile.

Thank you to Etta Sue, Gareth (good to see you, it's been a while!) Ritz and Larry for the birthday wishes.

My "celebration" consisted of vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning the bathroom, etc.  Such fun....... :P :-\

I had calls from two of my sisters and Diane to wish me a happy birthday, also from Toni, my soon-to-be granddaughter-in-law.  Sweet of her to remember when she has so much on her mind this week!

Pat, what's on with Edmonton???  And I wish we had some of the excess rain.  There was a wonderful general rain this past Friday, but we only got .4" here.  And the temp was up over 100 today with hot, dry winds.  Ugh.

I do believe I will go work on photos a while.

Hi everyone.  Looks like I may be the first here this morning or really late for last night.  Nothing much has changed since I posted last evening.  I continued to work on some projects on my computers and will do so today as Pat will be gone to a quilters guild picnic.  After coffee this morning I hope to spend the rest of the day at home and try to stay cool.  It is suppose to get up to 94 degrees here.  We missed out on any rain yesterday and nothing forcast for a few more days.

Yesterday morning I went to my friends home, who raises vegetables, and was able to get fresh white sweet corn, cucumbers, and other vegetables.  We had some of the sweet corn for supper last evening and it was wonderful.  You just can't beat homegrown.  Unfortunately he has cut down drastically on his gardening and he is getting old and has back problems but had a few things.

Janet, I don't know how you stood all that excitement for your birthday yesterday!!!  :)

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning!

I thought I wasn't going to do much today but.....

I was out putting Weed 'n' Feed on some pesky ground ivy last evening.  When I came in, I had a message on the answering machine.  Ivalou.  Said for me to call her back and talk about tomorrow (today).  What is going on tomorrow (today)?  So I called her back and said 'What about tomorrow (today)?  Euchere Club!  I clean forgot about it.

And I had told Kitty I could come over and help her with computer problems and stay for lunch.  Now I am going over as soon as I post this and finish a cup of coffee but I have to be back home around noon.

Also this afternoon a man is coming to look over my solar heat system.  Perhaps he can find where I can get a new top dome cover.  I am thinking that is all I need to make a more efficient heat come out of it.

I had better be on my way!!!

Do you all realize that 2006 is almost half over!!!

Good Morning. I got on the  Dell website last night to order a new keyboard and keyboard cover and couldn't remember my password, by  the time I got it right I was locked out. Bah Humbug!

Yesterday my afternoon client to me that she wanted to give my job to her granddaughter. Her granddaughter and 4 other people moved in with her just over a week ago making it difficult to do my job. She said I could stay until I got another job. Please pray that I will get another job real soon.

This afternoon after I leave Jan's  I am going over to a lady's house to dust and vacuum for $50. A man from church installed some windows for her and is going to pay me to clean up. What a blessing that is.

Take care y-all I will be back later.

It rained all night but what a time Houston, Texas is having with rain!  It almost looks as if it was a hurricane but we know it wasn't--just rain.

Sad night for Canada as the Stanley Cup went to the Hurricanes in Carolina.  Oh well, we hope next year will be better for us.

I have a granddaughter maybe coming to live with me so I'm busy trying to make order out of chaos for her.

Good morning!

I had a call from Beth's advocate at the Center for Independent Living last evening saying she has come off the waiting list and is eligible for services. So I told him the developments of this past month (seems like a year!) and his response was "We'll get her out of that nursing home!"  He says he can file an amended thing and get her more help...........wants me to get an appointment for him and me to speak with Dr. Plumlee in the morning.  I don't really want to get her hopes all up again if they can't provide enough help; and basically, she needs help 24 hours a day.  So I'm in a quandary.  I think I will get the appointment with Dr. P. first, then if he thinks she can maybe go home with more help, let Danny talk to Beth.  He is really an advocate in favor of his clients!  I really appreciate that.

Good morning to those who have already posted, good to see you!  I must get moving, several calls to make, then swimming!

G'Morning ... I'm reporting in.   :)

I arrived home about 9:40 last evening after a long day.  I put 1003 miles on my car since leaving here at 4:45 Sunday morning!

As Marilyn has already said: she and I drove into the church parking lot at the same time.  I enjoyed meeting all her friends and the Bible class as well as the church service.  After church she called to let Al know where we would meet him and Marbeth.  She left a message 'cuz they weren't home.  She and I went on to the Mexican restaurant and waited (I think she called again) and they eventually arrived.  We had a good visit and enjoyed the meal together before I left to drive south to Ukiah.

That was another 3 hour drive and I was very ready to get out of the car.  BTW AL, that eatery you recommended is no longer in Ukiah -- or at least I couldn't find it listed in the phone book.   :(  I didn't want to drive any more anyway, so I just ate a couple granola bars and went to bed.
:sleep:

I left Ukiah about 7:30 yesterday morning and drove the very tricky route to Yountville to meet with Tom.  That was another adventure!  Anyway, after much confusion (on his part) and messing around, we found a Notary in town and got the papers signed and notarized then went back to the Veterans Home in time to have lunch with a very nice couple.  It was just noon as I left for the drive back north.

I at first thought I would only drive part of the way and then stop for another night at a motel before coming on home, but it stays daylight a long time this close to the first day of summer, so I continied.

I stopped a couple times for gas and took an hour at a Denny's in Redding to eat and change positions to rest a bit.

Yup, a pretty long couple of days but my mission is accomplished.   :thumbsup:

Now I have read all that y'all have been "saying" while I was gone and have nothing to add or debate with any of you except for Marilyn!!

How come you get to edit yourself out of a picture and we don't?   :clobber:

Oh, I get it ... it's your camera.   :crazy:  I really think each of us should have editing rights or none of us should!  You best keep yourself in that shot or I'll look kinda funny sitting there listing to the left and grinning ... could be a cause for gossip y'think?

Al, it was great seeing you and Marbeth again ... Now next time is y'alls turn to come up here!

Etta Sue, I sure do remember that day -- Jerry's first stroke --  :'(  we were so close to meeting.  We did get to talk on the phone a couple times though and we can still hold out the hope that maybe ... someday ... it can still happen.

Janet, it seems the advocate is really trying to help Beth but will that put the burden on you and Darrel again?  Can they give her 24 hour care in her home?  You just can't get involved in that the way you were and have been.  She would be very happy, I'm sure, but it takes to big a toll on you emotionally and physically.  You gotta take care of YOU, y'know!

I need to get away from this computer and see what I need at the store.  Stuff happens and life goes on ... gotta run to catch up with it sometimes.  I'll talk atcha later. :wave:
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hello hello hello

Glad to see your trip was safe and effective, Jane.  I, for one, am about ready to take a road trip (ie - vacation) but bernard is literally covered up with work, so I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon.  Good that he has stuff to do.  Bad he has to work so many hours.

Janet, Glad to hear that some good news may be coming to Beth.  Hope it materializes. {{hugs}}

Etta -- The year is not half over, it is only half begun.  or somethng like that. :)

I gotta run.  We are running behind, seriously, and I'm not even sure why I'm online right now. :/

"You'll find Jesus there," the boy interrupted.  The surgeon looked up, annoyed "I'll cut your heart open," he continued, to see how much damage has been done..."

"But when you open up my heart, you'll find Jesus in there," said the boy.

The surgeon looked to the parents, who sat quietly.

"When I see how much damage has been done, I'll sew your heart and chest back up, and I'll plan what to do next."

"But you'll find Jesus in my heart. The Bible says He lives there. The hymns all say He lives there. You'll find Him in my heart."

The surgeon had had enough. "I'll tell you what I'll find in your heart.  I'll find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened vessels.  And I'll find out if I can make you well."

"You'll find Jesus there too. He lives there."

The surgeon left.

The surgeon sat in his office, recording his notes from the surgery, "...damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein, widespread muscle degeneration.  No hope for transplant, no hope for cure. Therapy:  painkillers and bed rest. Prognosis:, " here he paused, "death within one year."

He stopped the recorder, but there was more to be said. "Why?" he asked aloud.

"Why did You do this? You've put him here; You've put him in this pain; and You've cursed him to an early death. Why?"

The Lord answered and said, "The boy, My lamb, was not meant for your flock for long, for he is a part of My flock, and will forever be.  Here, in My flock, he will feel no pain, and will be comforted as you cannot imagine. His parents will one day join him here, and they will know peace, and My flock will continue to grow."

The surgeon's tears were hot, but his anger was hotter. "You created that boy, and You created that heart. He'll be dead in months. Why?"

The Lord answered, "The boy, My lamb, shall return to My flock, for He has Done his duty: I did not put My lamb with your flock to lose him, but to retrieve another lost lamb."

The surgeon wept.. The surgeon sat beside the boy's bed; the boy's parents sat across from him. The boy awoke and whispered, "Did you cut open my heart?"

"Yes," said the surgeon.

"What did you find?" asked the boy.

"I found Jesus there," said the surgeon.

Jane, you had quite a trip!  Hope you accomplished your goal.  When I called Dr. Plumlee, I told him that if he sees no way, even with more help (excluding me and Darrel) I don't want Danny to get Beth's hopes up about coming home.  Dr. Plumlee agrees.  We will meet in the morning at 9:30 and talk about it.  Danny said he needs Dr. Plumlee's blessing and for him to be comfortable with what he (Danny) has in mind to do.

My good friend Pat (the Ulysses one!) took me to lunch today for my birthday.  We went to Pizza Hut.

I was interrupted yesterday while trying to order prints from Kodak.  I can get them for 15c each, cheaper than Wal-Mart.  But now I don't know for sure where I was.  :-\  So have to go hunting again.

See y'all later.

We thank our Lord, Jane, that you made it back ok.  It's a long way and a lot of driving, but evidently He was right there with you!  I've seen some of Marilyn's pix, and so far she's in 'em.  By the way, I don't know about any long driving trips in the forseeable future.  My left leg swells  somewhat, and I'm afraid of the cellulitis coming back on again.  But lets see what our Lord does.  We sure like coming up that way.

Janet - it sure seems to me like it would be better in the long run for Beth just to stay at the care center.  But may our Lord direct y'all.

OK OK OK I won't edit me out of the picture. Glad you made it home safely Jane

I have ordered a new keyboard an also a skin to cover it and keep it clean.

I trimmed Jan's Ceicil Bruener rose bush this morning so I have potted some of the cuttings, I hope they take. I have had some in pots for over a year and they haven't done anything. I got some better cuttings this time.

The other lady  were I went to clean this afternoon had me wipoingdown walls as well as vacuuming and dusting, cleaning off the tops of her cabinets. I am sure glad I got paid $50. to do that stuff.

Yes, Al, seems that way to us, too.  But we will listen to what the man has to offer.  It is really sad to be stuck in a nursing home at her age.  :'(

Sometime this week, maybe two days, I need to go down and help someone get ready for a wedding!  Lots to do, both decorating at the church and getting the garage ready for a family dinner thing.  :)

Guess I will go hunting Kodak again.

Karma, I cried too.  So I felt I'd share it here with all of you.

Well, just in from my meeting.

I'll be back to open a new New Every Morning.
