Morning Devotional...

The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:17

Every child of God is called to walk by faith.

To walk by faith is to walk with God; to cling to Him; to lean on Him; to draw from His exhaustless springs; to find all our resources in Him; and to have Him as a covering for our eyes and a satisfying object for our hearts—to know Him as our only resource in all difficulties, and in all our trials.

It is to be absolutely, completely, and continually shut up to Him; to be undividedly dependent upon Him, apart from and above every creature confidence, every human hope and every earthly expectation. Such is the life of faith. Let us see that we understand it.

It must be a reality or nothing at all.
—C. H. Mackintosh

Just place your all in His dear hands,
and rest assured this day;
God loves you, loves you very much;
He'll keep you all the way.
P. C. M.

Hello everybody!!!

Question for you to ponder -- Of all the men and women in the Bible, who are you most like, and why?  (You can choose more than one, but no more than three!) :)

Ruth Ann Bice

I'll do some thinking on that, Karmat! What a challenge!

...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

I'll think about it Karma.

Good  Morning, I saw Janet come on line, maybe she will drop by here to say hello.  Hi Janet.

Larry:  Thanks for the IM.  Pat sent a message that I had forgotten and sent it right back to her  - my reply, I mean.  I bookmarked the site, however, company is arriving today/tonight and it will be a mild chaos around here with three teens and parents.  My niece always brings a young man who is friend of the family as well.  Good that I have so many beds. Please read the note I have about Don below.

karmat:  I have always thought that I would sadly be most like Martha - I believe she is the one who was working in the kitchen while Jesus spoke and she missed everything - isn't that sad?  Am trying.

Don had his first appointment with a cardiologist yesterday and it was confirmed that he had some but very little damage from a heart attack at some point.  He believes it was earlier this spring when we were walking with a son on a path near their house & he did not feel well at all.  Never any pain.  But - the very good news is that he did have a warning, he has been losing weight and on a strict diet, and exercising one hour per day - staying on same meds & there are no restrictions.  So, he wants to go camping and we are also going to go to son's cabin at much higher altitude over the 4th. So, he had two really good doctors and good medical care and now into the Heart system right here in Fort Collins - and only a few minutes from the house.  His family history is absolutely the worst as far as heart problems and he has now lived almost 15 years longer than his father so we are well aware of the significance of having a warning.  We give thanks.

Carol

Al Moak

Well I don't know who in the Bible I'm most like.  I do know that the person I need to be  - is me!  I need to become more and more the person God envisioned me to be - so that I'll fit just right into the niche in the building of His holy temple that He wants me to fit into.  In many, many ways, I need to become more and more like Christ.  O Lord, make me to be exactly the person You want me to be.

Etta Sue

Karma says....
QuoteI guess what I am trying to say is that it is not hte size of the membership that concerns me but whether or not that membership is doing what God wants them to do.

Just as a side note -- when the "church" is mentioned in the Bible, it does not refer to a specific building, but the entire association of those that believed in/followed Christ.  I wish our churches today were that "broad" and wall-less and we could fellowship with joy with all who follow Christ.
And I say 'AMEN'!  Where two or more are gathered....  But sometimes the intention of those two or more are not what God wants so he isn't present.  And God wants his Word to spread so He wants His church to grow.

I may just get things done around here today and then sit in my swing and read this afternoon.  Been aiming to do that for quite awhile....just might get it done today.  Nothing else is on my agenda so we will see.

Carol, that was a good report that Don got and so glad he doesn't have to live with restrictions, other than the exercise of common sense in what he tries to do.  My dad always said he knew when he had his first heart attack as was out in the field and got off the tractor and laid down for awhile and then got up and kept on working.  Hope you enjoy your company.

We are going to have Pat's cousin and husband here to spend the night next Tuesday.  They live in St. Petersburg but will be in the area on the way to the mountains.  We are delighted as we seldom have overnight guests.  Also my friend from DC and his wife will be here Friday afternoon but will be here only for a few hours.  They come down to visit with their son, who lives over in Atlanta.

I am very hopeful that the physical therapy will benefit Pat.  She has been doing some exercises for awhile and thinks they are helpful and I am sure they will give her more exercises that she can learn to do.  It is good to read that therapy has helped several of our people.  Pat went for her first session this morning and then has gone on to the church for the Wednesday morning Bible study.

Pat, sure glad to read that you are having some good days.  I do hope they continue for a long time.

Suzanne, sure hope you will be feeling better quickly.  My wife and I have both had brief periods when we took prednizone and it does really do a number on you as you are very tired but at the same time seem to have a lot of energy.

Karmat, I really don't have an answer to your question although it raises some interesting prospects.

Hope everyone has a good day.  This evening will be my last choir practice for a month.  We take the month of July off.

Pat

Well, thank you so much, Pat!  That is so pretty!

We had a WONDERFUL reunion!  Everyone really enjoyed it, we all had such a good time together that we have decided to add another day next year!  ;D

After the reunion, we drove up to Salina, went to Rolling Hills Wildlife Park (not a good time to go, it was so beastly hot that all or most, of the animals were inside sleeping, so we couldn't really see them!)  They do have an excellent museum, though, and it really shows you the correct size of the animals.  We enjoyed that a lot.  After that we drove to Minden, Nebraska, to my foster brother Don's, spent the night there (in our trailer) and the next morning he drove us and our gear to Kearney, we found the Sandy Channel place and went for a dive!  It was pretty spooky, never having been there before, visibility was only 8-10 feet, and Darrel had a gear problem so went to the shore to fix it and I never saw him again until he surfaced at the end of the dive.  But it was great to be back in the water anyway.

I am having trouble staying awake here~ think I may see if I can take a little nap.

I have read a couple of days of posts, will finish them later.  It's good to be back home.

I have been to the poll and posted.

I went to look at the duplex, It would have been a great back yard for the dogs. Unfortunately, it was not in that good of shape. The cable wires were in the bedroom, no doors onthe closet, kitchen was a postage stamp. No floor in garage. I still have time and God will provide, I will just keep on looking.

Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah
(Click to hear music)

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
Psalm 73:24

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim thro' this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy pow'rful hand;
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more,
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through;
Strong Deliv'rer, strong Deliv'rer,
Be Thou still my strength and shield,
Be Thou still my strength and shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell's destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan's side;
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to Thee,
I will ever give to Thee.

Just so you know, Pat, that hymn is very important to me - and has been for many years.  Thank you!  Another one, somewhat like it, is "Come thou fount of every blessing."  Do you know that one?  I didn't find it in the clickable list.  The last verse goes,

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be.
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.

Prone to wander, Lord I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

Well, I have had absolutely no time to formulate my response Karmat. Was on ONE conference call from 9 am until 2:30 pm. Fortunately, our Lord provided for my food needs - I never do this, but decided to use a coupon and purchase buy one/get one free biscuits - then, chose breakfast items for one and chicken for the other. And, I decided to make my first pitcher of iced tea this year. So, during the call I sipped tea and at lunch time, had the cold chicken biscuit.

We really are told that He knows what we need before we do and, in this instance, he provided for my every need - IN ADVANCE!

Getting back to the characters in the Bible - ummmm, well I work diligently, so I may be like Timothy's the woman in Proverbs - she was a seller of purple and took good care of her family. I've tried to be a "workman worthy of my hire" and also tried very hard to take care of my family and train them as a Christian parent would.

I see a bit of Luke in me, because as my family and friends have undergone health crises, I've filed them away in my memory and often am able to help someone with a current problem based on past experiences.

I've often likened myself to Ruth and Naomi. During that 2 year period without steady employment, I took all part-time jobs available in order to pay the bills. Then, there was one grocery store that made a practice of putting their nearly out of date meats in a mark-down freezer and nearly out of date grocery items in "rummage sale" type baskets. Those were my groceries and I called it "gleaning" - or taking the leftovers similar to the grain that Ruth and Naomi harvested after the workers had left the fields.

Then, during times of depression and great sorrow, I have felt like a combination of Job and Jeremiah.

So, I guess I'll just be me - and try to live my life each day for my Master.

Thanks for giving me so much food for thought today, Karmat.

Because of health issues I've not posted much recently, but it's not because I don't love y'all.

Oh, yes, Pat and Larry and others, I certainly appreciate the songs. Both the written words as well as the music.

G'nite, all.

Ruth Ann

Thanks Marilyn!  ;D :-*

Well, I'm home from yet another boring meeting.  But at least we got supper with this one!  LOL

I don't have anymore planned for this week... Mon, Tues and Wed is enough to have your evenings tied up.

I wanted to reply to Jane (I wasn't home when she posted) about her dream.  I LOVE dreams like that!  I once dreamed I heard the trumpet call "Come up here!" and went flying through the air to meet the Lord.  I could actually feel the wind in my hair, see others going up along with me ~~~ it was SO exhilarating!!  WOW!!  I woke myself up with exclamations of pure joy!  I will never forget that dream---or was it a vision?

Ruth Ann, it is wonderful to hear that you are feeling better, that makes me so happy!  God bless, and (((hugs)))

Karma, I would WANT to be like the Proverbs 31 woman, but am sure I fall short many times.  I also admire Hannah greatly, but am not sure I could give up my child to live in the Temple with the priest.  What a great man Samuel became, though!

I must get Abby to bed and read the Bible to her.  She loves having me read to her from the Living Bible, and I am finding out that she already has a lot of the Word hidden in her heart.  Thank God for Godly parents who raise their children in the Word!

Hello there, Pat!  Glad you are back home and do not have more meetings to attend this week!  (((hugs)))

See Y'all tomorrow!
