      Morning Devotional...

      I formed thee...I knew thee...I sanctified thee...I ordained thee.
      Jeremiah 1:5

Many feel that others don't know them. Sometimes it seems that we hardly know ourselves.

But there is Someone who does know us perfectly!

Before we were born He knew us. We were born because He formed us.

He has a plan and a purpose for our lives.

Are we trusting our own understanding, trying to convince God to let us do what we think best, or seeking to live the life that God desires for us? He knows best.

      Ask Him. Trust Him!
                                                                                 --Carl Knott

      Thou knowest all things and I'm glad 'tis so;
      On this I rest through life's strange ebb and flow;
      In sickness, happiness or woe,
All that I cannot, need not, would not know, Thou knowest.
      [/color]

'Because he lives I can face tomorow...'

A beautiful Hymn with beautiful words and a wonderful message.

How easy it it for our spirits to drop, especially when the unexpected happens. We plod on from day to day, sometimes without a care in the world then WHAM! Our confidence is shaken and our vision goes from the vertical to the horizonal!

It may be a letter, an email or a phone call with disturbing news. Our experience can be so like Peter's. One minute he was confidently walking on water heading towards his Saviour the next he is sinking and scared stiff!

Because He lives, He is with us in our todays as well as our tomorrows. Our Lord and Saviour is with us each step of the way. We may view our providence as being dark and gloomy, however if you live in the Western Isles you will be used to dark, gloomy skies above, but that does not mean to say that the sun has stopped shining!

God works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. This does not mean that He works in us every now and then. It means that every moment of every day God is at work in our lives.

Take heart my friend, especially if you are facing unknown difficulties. Why? Because He lives!

Whatever it is that seems to be turning your world upside down, listen to His words to you today. It is I be not afraid!

Today I read about the women heading to the sepulchre. One huge worry was hanging over them. 'Who shall roll us away the stone?'

Hardly a day goes past when we do not think of a 'stone' or obstacle that may be lying in our path. Many may be genuine, yet how often have we lost sleep worrying about things that never actually happened? Does worry ever fix the problem? Be anxious for nothing.

The Lord knows the way that we take and He delights to make straight our paths as we lean upon Him.

That 'stone' that you fear so much this morning may be removed by the Lord by the time you reach it!

      LOL

      Your brother in Christ

      Iain

      Ruth Ann Bice

And, Iaian, because he lives, we can often gaze back into our history to see how His hand was on us.

      In the happy days.
      In the sad days.
In the most difficult days of our lives.
      In our planning.
      In our interactions with others.

What a tapestry He weaves in our lives when we trust Him. As with tapestries, the pattern is sometimes woven laboriously over a long, long time, but eventually, when we peek around to the right side of that tapestry, we can see the plan he made  for us unfolding in our lives.

Thanks be to God - He LIVES!!!

      Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

      Iain

I true word Ruth. He knoweth the way that I take. Goodness and mercy have followed me all the days of my life. It is all of grace and He has done all things well.

      Marilyn

Pat and Iain thank you for the devotionals, they both speak to me this morning. Our Lord knows everything there is to know about each one of us. Those unspoken prayer requests we and others have, God knows the needs of His children and we do not need to know. He knows our hearts if we are happy or sad. He knows the problems we will face in life before we even get to the place in our lives that there are problems, He has the solution. I am so thankful that He does know what is ahead for me that it is all part of His plan for me.

I am so thankful that He lives and He lives within each one of us. I love that hymn. We don't sing it as often as we should. Because He lives he is walking by our side all the time. I often think of the poem "Footprints" which I have on my wall,, He carries us and uphold us during the "down" times and is beside us during the good times.

      I'll be back.

Play it safe:  Avoid riding in automobiles because they are responsible for 20 percent of all fatal accidents.  Do not stay home because 17 percent of all accidents occur in the home.  Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks because 14 percent of all accidents occur to pedestrians.  Avoid traveling by air, rail or water because 16 percent of all accidents involve these forms of transportations.  You will be pleased to learn that    only .001 percent of all deaths ocur in worship serrvice at church, and these are usually related to previous physical disorders.

Therefore, logic tellsw us that the safest place for you to be at any given point in time is at church.  Bible study is safe too.  The percentage of deaths during Bible study is even less.  For safety's sake, attend church and read your Bible (from Brother Maurus Zoeller.  OS.B., St. Meinrad Archabbey

Thanks to everyone for your lovely remarks about my A+ mark at by my Urologist.  I tend to forget about this cancer until a day or two before my check ups.  I thank God for that.  I thank Him every day that since I do have cancer, it is a cancer that is 100% controllable with check ups and surgery.

Good to see Mary Frances stopping in with a word or two.  Come back more often, Mary.  We miss you.

Pinkie, we would be blessed to see pictures of your missions.  It would be wonderful to travel like you do.  Since I won't be doing that, I would like to see those parts of the world you have been in through your photos.

Karma, it is your prints on DPC site!  You did good!!!

Good Morning, Jane!  Or was that Good Night, Jane?

Pat and Iain, thank you for the morning devotionals.  It is comforting to know he never leaves us.  He is there through good times and bad times.  He knows our needs without our even knowing them.  I like the thought about the tapestry.  The back side looks all jumbled and mixed up.  Turn it over and it is the beautiful finished product.

Thanks for the comments on "Because He lives..."  I thought of Paul's words:

Gal 2:20-21  I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"  (NIV)

We are going to a funeral today.  He was a fine Christian man who served as an elder for many years, a former member of Congress.  His wife died a few months ago and now he goes to join her.

Hi everyone.  Just a brief stop this morning as shortly have to leave to go downtown for my treatment.  I think I overdid yesterday morning and am still paying for it today as am tired.  However, overall I know that I am better in that people are commenting that my color is better and I am having much less angina.

Good devotionals again today and Pat, I look forward to tomorrow for the final writing by Jack on the 23rd Psalm.

Carol, I told my wife about your comment on mending and that you just wanted to quilt.  She is a quilter and said you can buy a sign that says "I quilt I don't mend" so something like that.  She agrees with you completely.  She just finished up a quilt for me to use as a light cover when I rest in the afternoons and has already started another one.  In fact, she just left a few minutes ago to go to the quilt store.

      See you all later.

      Pat

What a lovely drive it was today to Hamilton.  We don't take the main highway where all of the large trucks are rumbling along but rather we take the byways and drive past little ponds and farms and cows and into glens and up hills.  It's really a pleasant drive through only two small towns.

Now, I have to busy myself with various duties and then I'll be back later.

It's so nice to see you all.

Thinking especially of you, Larry, and you, Papa John along with Cornelia.

Also, Iain, thanks so much for the lovely devotion.  I think we should maybe sing that hymn.

I won't name each today as I'm rushing around here.

      But I'll return!

      Janet

Hello to all of you today.  The devotional thoughts are special to me today.  Sometimes I do feel alone, but I know He is always with me.  Being one who felt unloved for most of my life, I have really struggled with the love of God.  For years, when I thought of God and the fact that HE loves me, all I could do was cry.  I never understood that, and now it doesn't happen often, but I know He was trying to get me to open my heart, to receive and to BELIEVE His love.  Perhaps this was because my mother was harsh, cruel and unloving, and I thought "If my own mother can't love me, how can anyone else?  Even God?"

I thank God every day for a loving husband.  Darrel is a very kind man, a trait that I cherish.  And I know that he loves me, wants the best for me, and would never intentionally hurt me.  This has helped me so much.

:o :o :o My goodness!!!  This confession was the LAST thing I intended to do today.......so it must be God's prompting.  "An honest confession is good for the soul."

Anyway, I wish you all a beautiful and God-filled day of love!  Be back later..............

May be back later after I visit the prayer area.

;D What wonderful words to share with everyone Ms Janet. I love you too, and i will try hard to be kind too.  ;D

I thank you Mr Iain for your words on the worry today. I worry about everything. I try hard not to do it, but then I worry about my try not to worry.  :-\

I Do worry that I am a bother at times. I like to talk to everyone and I do not often get to do it. So i write to everyone and I say hello and wish them a good day. It is my wonder sometimes if I make everyone crazy and annoy.  :-\ I think sometimes it is a why God take my words away so i can not talk so much and bother the ones I love. I hope you all know if I do not talk, it is only because i do not wish to annoy. or I will talk all day with you and make you crazy.  :-\

      Hi all,

Just stopping by to play "catch up".

Really wish I can get here more often; I know that I miss a lot of wonderful devotionals.

      I really need them.

Hope all that are "on the mend" are feeling better by now.

Wish all newcomers a BIG hello.

Someday, the good LORD willing, I will be able to stay and chat a longer time than I have been.

Seems like I have "a full plate" these days.
Everytime I turn around; I am saying O.K. Lord what do you want me to see in this situation.
Sometimes it takes a while for me to see HIS blessings in my situations; but ALL the time I feel HIS presence and the peace that comes without understanding.

I do not know where I would be without my faith in the good LORD above....

Don't even want to try or even think about it.

      Take care,

      Love in Christ,

Meika your questions and comments are good and cause all of us to think.  That is a good thing !

We all love you and cherish you.

Janet it is sad that parents do this to us when we are children.  A dear friend of mine had the same problem.  Let this be a reminder to us to Love on our kids, grand kids and all the kids in our lives, and let them know how special they are.

There is amother special Gaither song.  I am a promise, I am a possibility, I am a great big bundle of potentiality.  And if I listen Iwill hear God's voice and if I try Him I will make the right choice. That is all I remember at this point.  Perhaps Pat could post the words and music for us to sing?

      Have a good day folks

As I sat today at the funeral of our friend I thought how sad it is when people who are not Christians die and they live and die without the promise of God and the hope of heaven.

Rev 14:13  Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." (NIV)

Oh Papa John I know how hard it is to say good bye to a friend.  :(

I just know there is a way they will also get to go to a most wonderful place. If the good deed will follow them, then they are much more than filthy rags. I just know I will see my friends again. I hope it, I pray it and it is my every wish.
Perhaps they will not get to live with God in Heaven, but they might still get to go to a heaven, yes?
There are many things I promise, and I make it certain that they happen when I promise. But many times I do things because it is my wish and not because I promise it.
I know God will welcome all those who know and accept Jesus, It is his promise.
Do you think God can allow others into heaven just because it is his wish, without a promise? Or is it written that it will never be?

I didn't mean you look like a pig's tail.  But the little girl you had on and which is now at the bottom of your posts have hair fixed in what we call pig tails.    :o  You knew that!

I do like your new picture.  Not a rose and onion, a rose and another beautiful flower.

Mieka, Your posts today lets me realize how much I have missed you since you left for your trip at sea!  Welcome back!  And I don't know of anyone that is loved by a group more than you are loved by this group.  Anyone on here can be down in the dumps and you will bring them right up with a chuckle or a smile.  Thank you, God, for sending Mieka to us here on Christian Photographers.

Now, I'll be a Monkey's uncle???  I don't know where that saying came from but I have said it all my life.  I think it means 'Well, I'll be!  Why didn't I think of that?'  Or 'Well, I am amazed!'  or even 'Geesh!  Anymore ideas, anyone?

Also I was the baby in the family.  My big brother used to wrestle with me.  He would get me in a 'hold' and I would yell for him to let me go.  He would say....'Say Uncle!'  He wouldn't let me go until I said 'Uncle!'....unless Mom stepped in... :-[  Now, I don't know where that 'Uncle' thing came from at all!!!  May have been Kaye Don's invention, for all I know.  And I still don't like to be held down!!!

Ivalou fixed lunch for me today so I was over there for awhile....70 steps...I counted them again.  Either had shorter steps today or I miscounted the last time... ??? ???  Then I came home and crocheted.  Making a new plastic purse!

Ali entertained herself with a fly.  I think she worried it to death.   :(  I don't know where it is now.  But it couldn't fly when I saw it last.   :o

      Mieka......I like onions, too!!!!

Don is in the basement making a surprise for me in his wood shop  :D

Meika:  It is always so much fun to read your posts!  You keep us hopping!

Larry:  Pat is my kind of gal - off to the quilt store!  I think that it is really sweet of her to make a quilt for your afternoon siestas.

Mary Frances:  Hi - it is good to see you!

Etta Sue:  Now, isn't it nice to have your last doctor appointment over for a  while?  It is super news especially before your trip to Calgary.

      Carol

Oh, Mieka, Mieka! You are so special to us.  I don't think we're going to let you go away again.  I've been sitting here giggling away and I'm all alone in the house!  The dog wonders what in the world I'm laughing at!

Hi Everybody:  We are just back from our 4 days away, attending one granddaughter's 8th grade graduation.

It was lovely seeing her accept several awards., she tells me she is going to a Bible (overnight) camp for a week, with her girlfriend.  Please pray that Kirby will come to know the Lord. ::)

This family foes NOT attend church at all, so you all can understand how delighted Norm and I are to know she will hear the Gospel.

I am not going to attempt to answer each one personally.  Just know how pleased I am to be back to CP; and to know how much I miss you all when I'm away! ;)

Bonz is my hyperactive child.  I can almost never catch him still and therefore most shots of him are blurry.  He is also a HUNTER - no fly lives in my apartment!  He isn't supposed to be up on the table, but when he's hunting, he forgets where he is - so intent is he in getting that FLY!!! :o  Pinkie

Why do cats love to play with rugs?  I don't know, but these two have the best time playing with my throw rugs!

Mieka, I'm not really a monkey's uncle.  And I don't really want to be one, either. ;D  I just meant I felt foolish. :-[

Etta Sue, I think the expression to "cry uncle" meaning "I give up" is an old one and pretty widespread.  I wonder if it could be a corruption of something in another language, like so many of our expressions are.   :-\

      Janet

When I was a kid (back when the earth was cooling! ;)) we used to make each other yell "calf rope" that same way.  Yes, "Uncle" has been around for many a year!

Mieks, you make us all remember how funny the English language can be!  It is really a mixture of nearly every language on the earth!  Bits and pieces got mixed in as it evolved through the years.

Say!  Was that largest smilie on the right ME??? ??? :-\ ;)
