JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Worship:
Wonder and Awesome Fear

So I said, "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts."
--Isaiah 6:5

I have said it before and I will say it again: This low concept of God is our spiritual problem today. Mankind has succeeded quite well in reducing God to a pitiful nothing!

The God of the modern context is no God at all. He is simply a glorified chairman of the board, a kind of big businessman dealing in souls. The God portrayed in much of our church life today commands very little respect.

We must get back to the Bible and to the ministration of God's Spirit to regain a high and holy concept of God. Oh, this awesome, terrible God, the dread of Isaac! This God who made Isaiah cry out, "I am undone!" This God who drove Daniel to his knees in honor and respect.

To know the Creator and the God of all the universe is to revere Him. It is to bow down before Him in wonder and awesome fear.
Dr. Tozer in Men Who Met God, 79-80.

"Lord, I'm struck this morning with a sense of awe in Your presence. I can picture Tozer flat on his face on his study floor as he contemplates the words he has just written. I bow before You myself in 'wonder and awesome fear.' Amen."

Looks like I get to be first!  :)

:) :D ;D 8) ::) PRAISE GOD, PRAISE GOD, PRAISE GOD!!  We got some rain!!  We had 1 3/4 inch in the guage yesterday morning!!  :) :D ;D 8) ::)

I agree with you, Etta Sue.  I think Beth is where she needs to be.  On the other hand, she is nearly 44 years old, and in her right mind, and she feels she should have some say in her life.  So, if Danny and she can work things out so she can come back home for a while, then I have to believe that is for the best.  But I told her and him, too, that we cannot be responsible for her care.  If they can find workers to take care of her, fine.  I'm not being uncaring, but I do know my limits now, and know I cannot do what I was before.

Busy couple of days, we have been in Hugoton helping with the wedding preparations.  I have worked really hard, and hope I have made it possible for Diane to get some rest tonight.  That girl is like the Energizer Bunny, she just keeps going and going and........

The rehearsal dinner tonight was really good.  Hand done chicken fried steaks, real mashed potatoes and gravy, seasoned green beans, homemade crescent rolls, and THREE kinds of homemade, hand cranked ice cream!!  And I was trying to fast!  (Nope, I didn't make it, just smelled too good, and by then I was famished!)

$75 for your driver's license, Pat?? WOW!  How many years is it good?  I just got mine renewed this week, for four years, and it only cost $16.00.  Some things are so much more expensive in Canada.  I am sorry you are having (or had) car problems.  It's always so pricey to get autos fixed.  :ticked:

I have read all the posts for Thursday and Friday, and will be back when I can!

I am finally home now and have gone through all my emails. We went out to lunch at a Mexican Restaurant and had the buffet. Went to Costco and some other places before we went o the fair. I took lots of photos of the quilts and some other stuff., Maybe something for the challenge I have to unload the camera and see what I have that would qualify.

After that we went to Joann's to buy some fabric and some other stuff then on home got her at  7:15 after leaving for town at 12:30 what a long day but so much fun.

My legs are tired or all the walking.

Back home again!  From the Rehab Center to Nancy's house it is 235 miles.  I thought it was a tad less than that.

I ate supper out and shopped at WalMart.  When I got home, I decided to clean out the drain on my A/C with my WetVac.  I sat down here at the computer and as soon as my emails loaded, the lights went out.  Then went out, back on, twice, then went out again and stayed out.  I walked over to Ivalou's to talk to her some...what else can you do without electricity?  Over an hour later the lights came back on.  Probably a car hit a light pole somewhere.

I am tired.  Time for ZZZZzzzzz!!

Very nice devotion this morning!  When I was younger, I remember when people would have a reverence to the Lord (whether they knew him or not).  If a pastor, preist, etc., walked by, people would be on their best behavior.  When someone started to talk about the Lord, there would be a bit of a hush from the people in the area.  But that doesn't happen much anymore.  People mock the children of the Lord, which is mocking the Lord Himself.  There is little respect for Him these days.  This mornings devotional reminded me of this verse:

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."  Proverbs 1:7

So no matter what people say or do, always remember that He is still on the throne and will be for eternity.  May the Lord provide you all with a very special blessing today,  Ray

Good morning all!  Just wanted to breeze in before we get the day started (or as we get it started).

Travis is basically better, but now he seems to have given his sickness to Kristi.  Ugh.

juhrrrrrrrcvjuraxjihjhhjkkh <---- that was from Kristi.  She likes to push the buttons.  Gotta go.  Got hungry sprouts. :)

Carol

Marilyn:  Let me know when you post the quilt photos.  Thanks

Karmat:  Good morning to all of you.......have fun!  I hope Kristi isn't getting sick!  This morning, I thought of the little house we lived in (under 900 sq. ft) with four children and it had a big yard though.  Kid were very close all of the time.... :)  It was easy to clean.   ;)

Ray:  Thank you for the Tozer message.  Very true and very sad.

Etta Sue:  Without electricity, you went to talk to Iva Lou - isn't that so true without electricity.  We always had electricity but I remember going to several farms before they had it & they milked cows the old-fashioned way.  We played a wind-up record player.  That is a lot of driving - may the angels protect you and those you care for on the road.

Pat:  Glad that you were able to get back online.  Those bills just seem to come in buckets, don't they?  sorry about that!

Free  :coffee: for all.

Can anyone answer this?  Why do Mormons not drink coffee - I once had a Mormon gal sharing an apartment & she drank caffine in coke.  What is the difference?  Maybe Al know this?

Carol

Good Morning I have been her at the computer since 6:45, I got all my bills paid and read a bunch of email and answered quite  few. This afternoon I need to mow and water also do laundry for the week.

Pat I forgot to tell you last night that the devotional is very good this morning. In California Drivers License are $24.00 They went up 100%, Mine is good for 5 years, I really hate my picture, it was taken in 1998 I should have gone in instead of just sending payment int he mail.

Janet it sounds like you are going to have quite a few more busy days. You dinner sounds wonderful.

I am thinking of buying a small Rubbermaid shed for storage well not that small.
5 X 5.5 X 6.6 but I have to get a couple of bills paid off before I can even make
plans to get one. Hopefully by the end of summer before the rainy season starts again.

Carol You posted while I was typing, I am going to unload my camera now. I will let you know when I post them.

I have been out and about--forgot to pick up my prescriptions, so had to do that.  Now I have all our clothes ironed for today, both for the wedding and for the Laua in the garage, with dinner, tonight.  Darrel just stepped out of the shower, so now it's my turn!  And so things move along......... :)

Carol my parents also had a wind-up record player.  I used to be fascinated with all those stubby little needles in their little stainless steel embedded cup. 8)  Ahh......memories!  I remember when they first got a big, battery operated radio.  Now, that was an occasion!  I was six years old at the time.

Must run!

Hi, Karma, Nards, Trav and Kristi!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We finally had some rain last evening and it doesn't seem to be quite as hot today.  I just got back from going over to the home of the president of our SeniorNet Computer Learning Centers to pick up a book she had on the Media Center software that came with this new computer.  Of course, I had to sit and visit for an hour or so.  As a result the morning is about gone.

Last evening during the rain we had a lightning strike very close to our house and someway it seems to have burned out my Vonage adapter box so we have no telephone service.  Fortunately it didn't get any of the other electrical applicances.  Some way it must have come in through the telephone line and done it's damage that way.  We had a phone plugged into the wall in the kitchen and plugged in to an outlet there.  That circuit was shut off but when I hit the reset button on the wall plate the circuit was restored and the phone was active again.  Of course, we now have no incoming service.  However, Pat used Skype over the internet to call her sister this morning and we can make any outgoing calls using that system by sitting at the computer.  We also have cell phones so we still have communications.  One of the nice features of the VOIP phone service is the voicemail and if anyone calls and leaves a message I get an e-mail right aware and can listen to the message and return the call if need be.  I got notice that my new telephone adapter should be here on Tuesday so I am not going to worry about this Vonage box as am canceling that service when my telephone number has been transferred and we have a temporary number that will be effective as soon as I setup the system.

Janet, know the wedding will be wonderful today. It sounds like you all had a great rehearsal dinner.  With regard to Beth you are correct that you can't make her decisions.  If you hold firm in your resolve that you can't be the fall back when everything doesn't go right (which will be a relevation to Beth and very hard on you at the time) perhaps it will help Beth to understand what having the responsibility for arranging her care will be will help her better understand her true situation.

Marilyn, it sounds like the little building for storage would be very helpful to store your lawn items, etc.

Carol, I don't know the answer to your questions but would expect that the Mormon's really shouldn't be drinking any caffenated drink as well.  Perhaps someone will stop by who knows the answer.

Karma, glad to hear that Travis is better.  With two little ones, as you know, one usually passes the illness to the other.

Ray, don't think I have said welcome to CP.  Nice to see you posting and your observations are certainly on target.

Etta Sue, glad you are home safe and sound.  Aren't we dependent on electricity.  I often find that I flip the light switch when entering a room even though I know the power is out.  These things become so instinctive that we don't even think about what we are doing.  I don't suppose anyone else does that!

Pat, good devotional.  Glad you got your car fixed and that it wasn't more.  I always shudder when it is time for that annual inspection fearing that the car won't pass inspection.  I reminded my Pat that she has to renew her driver's license early next month.

Hi Judy McKenna, nice to see you posting.  How is Norm doing now?

JudyB, so sorry to read about the medical error regarding Rick's father.  It sounds like very serious damage was done.  Here in the USA that error would result in a law suit for certain as the lawyers love that type of case.

Nita, sorry about your back.  Did you do too much gardening work?  Hope you are feeling better now.

Kevin, send us some of your rain please as we are very dry.

It is time for lunch so better stop for today.

Pat

Hi folks...

So nice to see your post Ray.  Spot on too!

I'm not posting long.  Have a silly headache and I think I must go and lie down.

G'mornin' y'all!  Well, we've done our weekly shopping trip to the discount grocery in Eureka.  We save about 20%, so it pays for the trip and then some.

I'm studying "worship."  Any of you every done a study on that?  Do you imagine that it's a simple and intuitive thing?  It isn't.  Here's just a little synopsis of what I'm seeing.  Maybe more later.

Revelation 11:15-19.  "Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, 'The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!'  And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshipped God, saying: 'We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, the One Who is and Who was and Who is to come, because You have taken Your great power and reigned.  The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that you should reward your servants the prophets and the saints, and those who fear Your Name, small and great, and should destroy those who destroy the earth.'  Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple, and there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail."

This passage in Revelation is actually an outstanding example of worship in a form acceptable to God.  If we should view such worship as a pattern for our own worship,  then we we will need to draw certain conclusions about the content of that worship as here displayed.  We should conclude, most basically, that worship is giving thanks to God that He acts as God, that He indeed acts as One Who has great power to reign over all activities on the earth.  Such worship, we should conclude, would thank God for being and acting as Judge over all and Rewarder of His servants.  It would also thank Him even for destroying His enemies who have desecrated His earth.

Carol In the Mormon doctrine it states that  adherents to Mormonism are to drink absolutely nothing that contains caffeine nor use any kind of tobacco. I used to be a
Mormon. I have posted two quilt photos. I can't put anymore in my gallery topday I have 7 more that will get posted a the next days come.

Larry You are right this is an action that he could sue for.  Rick's dad will not even allow anyone to talk about that idea.  He feels God will carry him no matter what happens.  He ia a strong Christian man,and very trusting of others.  He doesn't want the pharmacist to loose his job because of him.  He lives in a small town, and everyone knows everyone else.

We have had an interesting day.  Yesterday we had breakfast with Pastor Dennis and told him of Melaura's plans for the summer.  He told us that there were openings at camp in the leadership training course.  We had to move quickly as camp begins tomorrow.  So today was getting her clothes out of mothballs, washed and everything she will need in the car ready to go after we have dinner qt Swiss Chalet.  When she comes back from this camp she will be home a week and then off to Leadership training at Trenton Air Force Base for three weeks.  It will be a busy summer for her, Them's the breaks with the teens.  I will miss her, but she will have a great time.

We have been having wonderful weather.  The humidity is down and there is a good breeze.  Our tractor is still not operational.  There are engine problems and I certainly don't know the in's and oout's with it.  Our farmer friend came over with his bush hog and lowered our lawn to a manageable height.  I hope out tractor is fixed soon.

John is home after working 9 days straight.  He is tired. so tomorrow I will be doing the driving.

Janet you are still hjaving a difficult time with the situation with Beth.   Just know you are being prayed for.

I am not going to comment on every post.  I have read them all, and am praying where there has been a request.

Good Night everyone and God Bless.

Pat

Hi everyone...

My daughter, Janice and the whole family came down and got here as I was sleeping trying to get rid of a headache and decided to take me out for supper.  We went to the Swiss Chalet for chicken.

Then home and had tea out on the deck and now they've gone home but left Kathleen here for the night.

I hope that a good night's sleep will be what is good for me tonight. ;)
