Matthew 16:16, 17.  "Simon Peter answered and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.'  Jesus answered and said to him, 'Blessed are you Simon Bar-Johah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father Who is in  heaven.'"

Just prior to these words, Jesus had asked the disciples who people were sayng He was.  When they had told Him what they were hearing from the people, Jesus then asked them what they themselves thought.  As often was the case in such situations, Simon Peter answered on behalf of all of the disciples.

Jesus, in turn explained to them what had really happened to bring them to such conclusions.  He made it clear to them that it wasn't their superior intelligence or great intelect that had brought them to such enlightenment, but that it was the power of God Himself that had moved them to it.  He also informed them that it was on the basis of just such faith and understanding that their Master would build His earthly Church.  Not only so, but that faith and that Church could never be overcome.

Are you part of that Church?  If so, then your innermost soul is utterly convinced that Jesus is the Christ (anointed, specially commissioned and sent) of God - that He is God the Son.  Simply put, you deeply believe that Jesus is your Lord and your God, just as formerly "doubting" Thomas did when He finally came to true faith (John 20:24-29).  Such faith moves you to completely surrender to His lordship, and you worship Him as God.  In a word, you love Him and gladly surrender to Him as Lord of your life.  You hate sin in your life, and you experience true reverence when You come into His presence.  You're entirely convinced that He's worthy of all praise and glory.

Am I describing your heart?  Thank Him for it, because He has revealed these precious things to you.  If this doesn't describe your heart, call on Him to reveal Himself to You by His Word and Spirit.

Jesus Wondrous Saviour!
(Click to hear music)

Jesus, wondrous Savior! Christ, of kings the King!
Angels fall before Thee, prostrate worshipping;
Fairest they confess Thee in the Heav'n above.
We would sing Thee fairest here in hymns of love.

Fairer far than sunlight unto eyes that wait
Amid fear and darkness, 'til the morning break;
Fairer than the day-dawn, hills and dales among,
When its tide of glory wakes the tide of song.

Sweeter far than music quivering from keys
That unbind all feeling with strange harmonies.
Thou art more and dearer than all minstrelsy;
Only in Thy presence can joy's fullness be.

All earth's flowing pleasures were a wintry sea,
Heav'n itself without Thee dark as night would be.
Lamb of God! Thy glory is the light above.
Lamb of God! Thy glory is the life of love.

Life is death if severed from Thy throbbing heart.
Death with life abundant at Thy touch would start.
Worlds and men and angels all consist in Thee:
Yet Thou camest to us in humility.

Jesus! All perfections rise and end in Thee;
Brightness of God's glory Thou, eternally,
Favored beyond measure they Thy face who see;
May we gracious Savior, share this ecstasy.

Yesterday was a beautiful day here.  It was good, as always, to meet with brothers and sisters to worship God.  So many good things are happening this summer.  We had a wonderful VBS a couple weeks ago.  We have 60 of our young people who are in Honduras on a mission trip.  A little later we will have two week sessions of summer camp.  I used to be involved in these types of things but now we are getting too old but we still can get excited about them.

Last night we had our annual Band Concert out on the lawn of our church property.  Every year a Tennessee National Guard Band comes for this event.  We had many from the neighborhood who came to visit and enjoy all the patriotic music.  Our members brought homemade ice-cream and cookies.  I ate two big bowls.

Al, thank you for the good thoughts this morning.  I thank God for his gracious gift.

Rom 10:12-17
12   For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13   For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14   How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15   And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16   But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17   So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Good Monday to you all!  I have had my half-mile swim and feel pretty good, even though still a bit tired from last week's festivities.

I had errands to run for both Beth and Mom this morning, now to see what needs tending to around this household.

Al and Papa John, thanks for the Word today!  :)

Good afternoon.  I have spent all morning trying to decide if my very slow internet was my computer or my DSL.  I finally called and he had me do a system restore because I said it was working great yesterday.  And of course, it was my computer and not DSL, right?  Earlier I couldn't get CP to completely load...couldn't click 'reply' to make a post.  It took over 1 minute and twenty seconds for my start page to load on Mozilla and on IE, it never did completely load!

Larry, I tried the new beta version of IE but I had to do a system restore after that and I haven't downloaded it again.  I am thinking that I have messed up my pc with all the weird stuff I have been having since May 10th and getting DSL.  I have never had so many Not Responging windows since having this pc for three years.  Not only Not Responding websites but installed software, too.  Weird.

Well.....have any of you attended an Umbrella Weiner Roast?  That's what we had yesterday.  It was bright and sunny....hot ....when I got home from church and took back some thing to the woods.  Not a leaf moving either.  I came back and got caught up online and put things in the cooler and headed for the woods.  A pickup truck was coming out.  It was cloudy and overcast and the temp had dropped 15 degrees.  A couple in the pickup thought maybe the weiner roast was cancelled.  No.  So in about 15 minutes all but one couple were back there.  Someone called them on the cell phone and they said it was raining at there house.  We said it wasn't raining here...come on up.  They did and within 5 minutes it was raining.  We didn't get soaked.  We got our umbrella's from the cars and had hot dogs roasted on an open fire and all the fixin's to go with them.  We got damp but not wet....clothes, hair, feet and hot dogs!!  But it was fun!!!  An Umbrella Weiner Roast!!!   ::) :idiot:

Sue

Hello everyone.

I have learned my lesson.  I was at the trailer on the weekend and i got sunburnt...I know, that is what sunscreen is for...I forgot it too.

While sitting back on the lounger, I heard a loud rumble and within seconds looked up into the sky to see the Canadian Snowbirds fly past.  They had a couple of shows to do on the weekend.  Right overhead they were and were just above treetop height.  I could see the Canadian flags painted on the underside of their planes and they were so close together.  My camera was in my purse in the trailer....bad me!

Now must get back to work.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have enjoyed a nice, sort of quiet day, today.  I finished recording the choral music from our church tapes last evening.  Today I have been working with my music files and organizing my files.  My friend send me a link to a website where you can have up to 2 GB's of free encrypted storage for backup of your files and it will automatically backup your files at the time you designate.  I am certainly going to give it a try and do an automatic backup each morning while I am at coffee.  If anyone is interested here is a link where you can check it out:  http://mozy.com/offer/kknl

Al, that was a very fine devotional you prepared for today.  In these troubled times we live in it is the assurance I have in Jesus Christ tells me not to worry as he will provide what I need in every situation.

Etta Sue, it sounds like your wet picnic was a lot of fun and will be a good memory.  Glad you didn't let the weather spoil the fun.  We just had a big clap of thunder and it has been overcast all day.  The rain we have had the last three days have really helped.  My yard is green again and the landscape guys just left after manicuring the yard and trimming all the bushes.  They do a very fine job and I appreciate have such a reliable company to deal with.  I know both the owner and his father.  I have been drinking coffee with the father each Friday for about 10 years.  Glad the System Restore solved your problems.  That is a very valuable tool that will often solve a problem.

Sue,  I don't envy you the sunburn as have memories of how those can burn and hurt.  I hope it wasn't too severe.  I grew up on a farm where I was outside all the time and always managed to have at least one good sunburn a year in the process of tanning up.

Papa John, those concerts are always good.  I have heard several done by various military bands and they produce quality.  Our church is sending a team of missionaries for a week to Hondurus in September.  This is the 14th years they have gone.  In the beginning they were making two trips a year.  Our young people also do summer mission projects both locally and on a trip to another State.

Janet, it is too bad if the brides family could have helped with the costs and the work of the wedding that they did not do so.  I guess it takes all kinds of people in this world and it sounds like those folks are lu-lu's.  It sounds like you are on the road to getting back into a routine.  Glad you were able to swim today.

I hope more folks will stop by before the day is out as see not many have visited today.  My wife got the following in an e-mail today and I really liked it so want to share it with you all today:

Years ago, a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast.

He constantly advertised for hired hands. Most people were

reluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic. They dreaded the

awful storms that raged across the Atlantic, wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops.

As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he received

A steady stream of refusals.

Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approached

the farmer. "Are you a good farm hand?" the farmer asked him.

"Well, I can sleep when the wind blows," answered the little man.

Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help,

Hired him. The little man worked well around the farm, busy from

dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man's work.

Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore.

Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed

next door to the hired hand's sleeping quarters. He shook the

little man and yelled, "Get up! A storm is coming!

Tie things down before they blow away!"

The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, "No
sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows."

Enraged by the response, the farmer was tempted to fire him on

the spot. Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm.

To his amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks had

been covered with tarpaulins. The cows were in the barn, the chickens were in the coops, and the doors were barred.

The shutters were tightly secured. Everything was tied down.

Nothing could blow away. The farmer then understood what his

hired hand meant, so he returned to his bed to also sleep while

the wind blew.

When you're prepared, spiritually, mentally, and physically,

you have nothing to fear. Can you sleep when the

wind blows through your life?

The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because he

had secured the farm against the storm.

We secure ourselves against the storms of life by
grounding ourselves in the Word of God.

We don't need to understand, we just need to hold

His hand to have peace in the middle of storms.

Good morning...it's morning here, and it has stopped raiining.  I have my :coffee: , Jazz is beside me, and my camera battery is charging.  Things are good, because HE is good.

Thank you Al, for the Word this morning.

And here's the Word from Isaiah...

"Remember these things, O Jacob.
Take it seriously, Israel, that you're my servant.
I made you, shaped you: You're my servant.
O Israel, I'll never forget you.
I've wiped the slate of all your wrongdoings.
There's nothing left of your sins.
Come back to me, come back.
      I've redeemed you."

Hi everyone...

Been a lazy day for me today.  It was fun having Kathleen here for the night on Saturday and then Janice and Phil came and picked her up last evening and we enjoyed a cup of tea together before they headed home to their part of the province.  Looks like Kathleen will be back here living with me July 4.

Etta Sue, I think it's great that you went ahead with that wiener roast.  When we lived in Oregon, they taught us that if you don't go on picnics when it's raining, you won't go at all.  Many a time we went to the beach when it was raining.  Every park had a central table with an umbrella or group shelter.  So we always enjoyed it.

Samantha

Good day everyone!

My husband has had two (count them!) great days in a row!  I realized yesterday afternoon that he hadn't complained about any pain the whole day, and its the same today!  God is soooo goood!!!!!!!!

Larry - I will be in your neck of the woods tomorrow.  We have a business trip close to Six Flags.  Sorry not enough time to enjoy Atlanta.  We haven't been back to Georgia in 20 years. I bet nothing has changed!  Ha!

I've been reading all the posts for the past few days and it's good to see all who've posted.

Y'all have a great afternoon.

Blessings,
Samantha :)

Marilyn

Well I finally got here. My afternoon job is over the 1st, her granddaughter is taking it over. I have had two calls today so I am not worried about getting another job. I just don't like the gap that may be in between paychecks. Ya always have to wait or that first check.

Gotta leave pretty soon to go to a union meeting at a pizza parlor. Ah food!!

I read that  Ted Kennedy has a  bill going to get the federal minimum wage increased to $7.25 per hour that would sure help us care providers. With the cost of living so high in California we have to take on more than one job just to get by. Who wants to just barely "get by". I know Al is totally against  a raise in minimum wages.  I don't know about the rest of you. I do know that some do not like Ted Kennedy. Well lets not get political here that would be a bad thing.

Gotta go now.

A bit too late, Marilyn--you already did get political!

We were watching the second half of the movie Broken Trail tonight, and the phone just kept ringing!  >:(  We usually do not get calls in the evening, but just try to watch a movie, and........oh, well, they are replaying it already.  :)

Abby is here with me for a while.  She is playing with the new kitten.

I printed out some of the wedding photos today.  I got some nice ones, but sure hope the "official" photographer got a lot more than I did.  I had battery problems.  >:( :(

Etta Sue I hope your computer problems are all settled.  Your umbrella weiner roast sound like lots of fun!

Pat, that will change your life, having a young granddaughter living with you!  I hope she will be lots of company and lots of help to you.  Did you look at the few wedding photos I posted?

I think I will open the new NEM a little early tonight.  I'm feeling the need of sleep.  ???
