Morning Devotional...

Jesus:  Forgiveness and Light
John 8:1-20  NLT

1Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, 2but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. 3As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and Pharisees brought a woman they had caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd.

4"Teacher," they said to Jesus, "this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. 5The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?"

6They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. 7They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, "All right, stone her. But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones!" 8Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.

9When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. 10Then Jesus stood up again and said to her, "Where are your accusers? Didn't even one of them condemn you?"

    11"No, Lord," she said.

And Jesus said, "Neither do I. Go and sin no more."

12Jesus said to the people, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't be stumbling through the darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life."

13The Pharisees replied, "You are making false claims about yourself!"

14Jesus told them, "These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don't know this about me. 15You judge me with all your human limitations, but I am not judging anyone. 16And if I did, my judgment would be correct in every respect because I am not alone--I have with me the Father who sent me. 17Your own law says that if two people agree about something, their witness is accepted as fact. 18I am one witness, and my Father who sent me is the other."

19"Where is your father?" they asked.

Jesus answered, "Since you don't know who I am, you don't know who my Father is. If you knew me, then you would know my Father, too." 20Jesus made these statements while he was teaching in the section of the Temple known as the Treasury. But he was not arrested, because his time had not yet come.

Who is the last person you had to forgive?

This passage makes a significant statement about judging others.

Because Jesus upheld the legal penalty for adultery, stoning, he could not be accused of being against the law.  But by saying that only a sinless person could throw the first stone, he highlighted the importance of compassion and forgiveness.

When others are caught in sin, are you quick to pass judgment?  To do so is to act as though you have never sinned.  It is God's role to judge, not yours.  Your role is to show firgiveness and compassion.

We have had some severe storms in Indiana this evening.  I looked out and it was hailing....pea-size hail.  Then it stopped.  The sun came out.  Then it got dark again.  Rain.  And more hail.  This time it was marble-size hail.  The cats sure was wondering what was making all that noise on my roof!  They were running around like the sky was falling.  Poor girls  :(

Time for beddy-bye so I can head to Grand Rapids again.  Hope it doesn't rain all day.

Good Morning!!  :)  (Really, it is still Wednesday night as I type this.)  I missed today here on CP; was really a busy one again, with taking Beth to Liberal for OT and PT evaluations.  They agree with me that it would be foolish to drive to Liberal (65 miles each way) three times a week for PT when our local PT guy comes right to the care home to work with her.  So I am much relieved on that score.

I also had a talk with Beth as I drove, and commented that she seems to have adjusted to living in the home quite well.  Her answer was that if it has to be this way, she might as well get used to it.  Then I told her that I would be SO relieved if she wouldn't even TRY to come home, at least until we get back from our trip.  She said, okay, that will be fine.  WHEW!!  :)  I feel better on that score!  I told her I didn't want to be half a world away and be worrying about her safety.  I think she understands that. <3

Liz, what a wonderful report.  I'm so happy the financial tension will now be alleviated even though the pain is not.  Financial problems bring so much stress, and stress causes many physical problems, so maybe in an indirect way, it will lessen some of Wendy's pain.  At least emotionally, it should.  I do wish there were physical help for her as well.  What a relief that the meeting was amicable.

Larry, I know you spoke well for all of us seniors at the interview.  You are so "computer smart."

Pat, did you get that garbage out?  :)  Country living doesn't have that particular problem for us, at least.  We dump our trash into a pit and then burn it on those rare days the wind isn't blowing.  Not many areas still allow burning, I understand.

Etta Sue, enjoy that break, it will be short enough!  Good devotional today, thanks.

Karma, what is Bernard's job?  That is way too many hours for a young husband and father to have to work.  Really too many for anyone.  I would be concerned about burnout.  Do take care of each other, will you?  (((((hugs)))))

Hi, Papa John.  Yes, prayer changes things!  And we are so glad you were allowed to remain with your dear family---and US!  :)

I am worn out tonight, and didn't get to swim today because had to leave too early for Liberal.  Tomorrow is a new day.  How will we invest it?  It is a unique day, different from all others, may we each use it for the glory of God.

Nice opening for the day!  Thank you.

For the fourth day, we may have AC repairmen out - thank goodness, they are not charging us for all of this work & consider it customer relations.  The first repairman damaged a  motor.  Today, I think the part ordered will arrive.  It is predicted to be 92 degrees F today.

Anthony:  It is warming up here - 92 degrees F today.

Ruth:  Thank you for the information you have as well on my question of coffee.

Judy B:  My prayers for Rick's dad.

Marilyn:  I just never liked the way Mormons held women - below their eyesight on matters.

Etta Sue:  We can't trust any day here near the hills for wind comes in an instant & can easily be 70 mph and even more - challenging to say the least.  We get hurricane winds without warning.  Once, we were driving the freeway from Denver & it did seem windy - it was clocked at 102 mph & here we are out there just driving home.  Safe trip today!

Pat:  Are you heading into hot weather in your area?  I know that you can get storms from posts you have made.

Good Morning Good devotional Etta Sue. Just right for today. I pray you have a safe trip.

I got a call the the son of the woman where I was interviewed yesterday, He said to me "Marilyn we would be please if you would come to work for my mother"! Praise the Lord I got the job and it is private pay so I will be making substantially more per hour. The job right now will be only 2 day per week or about 3 maybe 4 hours per day. So I will be  staying with Fay for awhile until she can get another caregiver and I ahead on a couple of obligations.

God is so good; my prayers were answered in a big way. Thank you Father.

I have two more days of working for that other couple, did I tell you that there were 5 more people who moved into with them, that is why she is giving her grand daughter the job. My job doesn't require me to do anymore than what the couple would need, no cleaning or cooking for the other people in the household.

It will be so nice when I don't have to answer to the county anymore with regard to  working.

Good Morning Everyone!

Nice day here in Guelph.  Have an appointment later on and must fill the car's gas tank.  That's certainly a high amount these days.

Thanks Etta Sue for the great reminders today in the devotional.

Hi everyone.  I am a little later getting here today than yesterday.  I have a lot I need to get done today, including going to Calvin Cove this afternoon, so will be brief today.

Marilyn, I don't have a clue as to why IE7 would cause your computer to run more slowly but it is a Beta Version.  You would probably be better off to uninstall it and reinstall Ver. 6 as you suggest.

Janet, glad you were able to get Beth to agree to stay where she is at least until you get back from her trip.  Maybe when you get back she will have come to the realization that she is where she needs to be to get the help she needs.  In a way it is a shame that the advocate intervened again and got her hopes up on being able to come home.

I hope none of you get storms today.  We are going to be around 90 degrees again.

See you all tomorrow.

Al Moak

In praying and thinking about Beth i got to wondering whether it wouldn't be a lot easier for her to stay where she is if she could see some usefulness in it - some sort of ministry she could accomplish only by being there.  Is there someone else in that care center to whom she could minister in some small (but significant) way?  If she could become involved with the people there so that she could see that she was doing some good for someone, it would make all the difference in the world.  We could pray that God would bring that about.  Also, she could be praying about it and have her eyes open to the possibility.

Larry - I'm glad I don't live in that area!  I don't know if I could take that kind of heat day after day.  I guess God enables you to accllimate yourself to it.

JudyB

I think we have had it all today.  Rain, hail, sun, and heavy cloud cover.  No gardening, and it is so needed.

We got the low down on our lawn tractor this morning at 8:30.  The words were, "The Engine is pooched."  Oh dear what now.  I called and told John, he said to get a price on a new engine.  I went in instead of calling and Alex showed me the problem with the engine.  It is so nice to not be treated like a "Dumb Female"!  To replace the engine will be a cost of about $1200 - $1400.  that with no guarantee that the transmission won't go when we get it back.  That would be at the cost of closer to $1500.  I priced replacing the tractor, up grading and a wider mowing deck, that is $7000, plus 14% tax.  I don't know what John will decide, either way is costly.

I just spoke to Rick and he said his dad is in good humour.  A good friend is in the room with him.  That will take some of the tedium out of the stay.  The only thing planned at this point is a trip to the Liskard hospital for a colonoscopy.  At this point he is too weak to make the trip.  He has had 2 units of blood today with another 2 ordered for tomorrow.  Please continue to pray.

Well That is about it for now, I will be back later.
Judy

Good Morning Everyone,

Al, I will pray, as you suggested about Beth finding a way to minister where she is.  Thank you for that thought.

The rainy season continues after a couple of sunny days.  I did get to take a few pictures of Jazz that I will post in the gallery later.  Take a look if you have a minute ;) .

Here's the Word from Isaiah...

The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me
      because God anointed me.
He sent me to preach good news to the poor,
      heal the heartbroken,
   Announce freedom to all captives,
      pardon all prisoners.
God sent me to announce the year of his grace—
a celebration of God's destruction of our enemies—
and to comfort all who mourn,
To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion,
give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes,
Messages of joy instead of news of doom,
a praising heart instead of a languid spirit.
   Rename them "Oaks of Righteousness"
planted by God to display his glory.

Thank you, Al, for those thoughts about Beth.  And I agree that will be a good way to pray for her.  Today when I went by, the therapist and two of the nurses were getting Beth into a sling thing, hooked to a lift.  That's the first time she has been vertical in a long time.  They are trying to get her into a standing position without her ankle turning, and to maintain her balance.  The therapist (Anthony) said she did real good for her first try.  She is so compliant and good natured when they work with her, even though to me it looks miserable.  :-\

I have spent most of the day on the phone.  Not my favorite thing.  And I worked for two hours this afternoon at our local food cupboard.

Judy, sorry about your mower.  One of our renters said yesterday that his had cratered, too, and they want $79 per hour for labor!!  On a lawn mower!!  :o :o MAN!!  Or, he could rent one for $50 per day.......... :(  Darrel let him use ours.  The renter has lived here for over 20 years now; and wanted to mow before leaving for Guard Camp.

We have to leave early in the morning for Amarillo for Darrel's cardiologist appointment.  It will likely be late when we get home.

Getting hot here again, too.  >:( :(  I have really enjoyed the cooler weather for the past several days.

My day has gone very well. This morning I applied for SSI and then went to Fay's and told her that the 15th will be my last day with her. But that I would not leave her without anyone. I am looking forward to sending more time with my grandchildren, going to women's minstries, I will even have time to take a tirp north, Jane and Nita., among other things.

Hi everyone, Judy I am praying for Rck andhis father, Liz I am still praying for Wendy, Janet I am praying for Beth.

Hi all.

janet, by training, Bernard is a mechanical engineer.  Basically, he designs machines and then helps the company to build them.  From my understanding, he also does a lot of programming and trouble shooting of the electrical components and computer stuff.  The good thing is that they switched him to hourly (he was working these hours occassionally on salary :( ) and gave him a raise.  We are talking of planning a real live vacation when it slows down abit.  All that said, that is crazy to work that hard.  I pray that Beth will find purpose in her situation.

Marilyn, Glad things are going well for you.

Etta -- Have a good trip

Carol, hope the AC gets fixed quickly.  I hate to be cold.  But, I hate being hotter more.  I can alwasy put more clothes on, but I can only take so many off. :/

Ruth -- When I was teaching, I always like the last day of school.  I like the first one too.  It was the 178 betwen that got me. :)

Others -- please don't be offended if I didnt address yo personally.  I gotta run, and this is as far as I had to read. sorry.

Takce care and have a good night1
