Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Free From Fear

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
(2 Timothy 1:7)

What would you think if I told you that you could live without fear? Would you believe me if I said that despite what you saw on the news tonight, you could be perfectly at peace? Impossible? Unrealistic? No!

You see, fear isn't just a reaction to external circumstances. It's a spiritual force. It begins inside a person. And it is totally destructive. In fact, fear is Satan's primary weapon. He moves in response to fear, the way God moves in response to faith. He challenges the promises of God with it.

An excellent example of this is found in Matthew 14 when Jesus invited Peter to come to Him on the water. "But when he [Peter] saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me" (verse 30).

What enabled Peter to walk on the water? His faith in the Word of Jesus. What caused Peter to sink? He saw the wind boisterous and he was afraid. It wasn't the wind that defeated him, it was his fear of it! He looked at his circumstances, gave into the fear, and the result was defeat. If Peter had kept his focus on Jesus, his faith would never have wavered. All the blustering and blowing in the world couldn't have drawn him off course.

Faith is developed by meditating on God's Word. Fear is developed by meditating on Satan's lies. Such fearful meditation is called worrying. Don't do it!

The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. Use it to fight Satan every time he comes against you. Hold up your shield of faith and quench all of his fiery darts. Speak words of faith and fear will depart.

Thanks, JANET ... I like that "only love can make him wag his tail" .  So true.  Love is what makes the world go 'round, remember?

I just had to stop by and let y'all know I'm still around ... not as round as I used to be, though.

I'll be back later ... or earlier ... or whatever comes up first.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

I'm glad you're around, Jane (or asquare, or acircle, or anoblong, or whatever).

I gotta go to the monthly men's prayer breakfast in just a little while, so got to get offa here.

Never Alone

God is with me always.
The loss of a loved one can be one of the most devastating experiences we will ever face. Yet even in the midst of pain or distress, we know that we are not alone; God is with us.

God is love that soothes us and sustains us. The love of God flows from others, too, as kind words of encouragement, as a loving touch of compassion, or as a warm hug of assurance. Then beyond what we can see, hear, or feel, we know that we will always have a part of that special someone with us in our minds and hearts.

God constantly assures us that we are not alone, that we are loved with an unconditional love that transcends time and place. Our hearts are soothed and our minds are at peace. With God, we have the strength and courage to go forward.

"Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."--Joshua 1:9

Oh, Janet, what a wonderful devotional, this was like when you go to church and the preacher is talking just to you that day!

Thank you for that ;)

Suzanne

Marilyn

Janet thank you for the devotional this morning I have just come back to read it again. You are doing such a great job of helping Pat, and coming up with some really great devotionals.

I slept better last night than the night before but woke up with a headache. Last night just as I was starting to fix my suppper the phone rang and it was Fay. She was in a panic because her nose was bleeding and she is on a blood thinner. It was stopped by the time I got to her but I still took her to the emergency room. She had called her family before she called me and had me call another friend of hers and we were all there at the hospital so I came on home after giving a family member my key to her house so they could take her home. I was hoping she would call when she got home but she did not call. She also has a very bad cold and cough. blowing her nose is what made it bleed. but you can never be too careful when taking a blood thinner.

I went to bed early and at 10:30 the phone rang again it was someone from the church asking me if I had been on the internet  earlier because they couldn't get on. I jumped out of bed to get the phone because I thought it was Fay.

OK that's all for now folks

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

Karmat, I think you were right about "crazy" as I certainly didn't have my right mind going when I wrote I lived in Florida.  Boots, we are about 5 hours away form Florida and that is close enough as I like the seasons but short winters.

I am feeling very tired today so know I am going to have to rest more today.  I told the men at coffee that I guessed I was just working too hard.  Of course, I don't know how that would be when you don't do anything.

Marilyn, I hope you hear from Fay today and that you also are feeling better.

Janet, thanks for the devotional this morning.

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

It promises to be a good day here in Nashville. And I feel so much better that my cleaning utensils better "get ready!"  ;)

Larry, do take care of yourself.

I hope all have a good day today.

Ruth Ann

Larry I am going to call Fay this morning before I go over there to make sure she is there. I am supposed to work for her today. I work for her 6 days per week, and  for Versal 5 days per week, and Jan 1 day per week. Total it up and I am working 7 days a week. OnThursdays I do all 3 jobs.

I take Versal to church and she gives me my hours to do that, so I am getting paid to take her to church. Nice that we go to the same church.  So far I have been able to get two of my clients into my church. Versal used to go to the church across the street from mine, Church of God. Gloria didn't go to church at all.

I have put on a pot of soup to have for my supper. I was going to take some to Fay's but it won't be done by the time I have to leave, so I will finish cooking it when I get home. It seems like everything I take to Fay she doesn't eat and throws it away but I keep trying. She eats what I cook at her house but not what  cook at home. I have a sneaking suspician it is because I have the dogs, she is afraid there will be dog hair in the food.

She won't let me sit on her sofa because she says I have dog hair on my clothing, but I don't. Hey at 96 she is entitled to think whatever she want, even if it doesn't makes sense to me I just go along with her.

I hope everyone is doing ok today, sory to hear that you are so tired Larry, when you get your new heart you will be as good as new. Praise the Lord.

I see we are still on page one!  But Saturdays are busy for most everyone.

Suzanne, I'm so happy the devotional spoke to you.  Blessings to you today!

Thanks, Marilyn, for the nice compliment.  It does take a lot of work to keep this site going, and I'm missing several who used to post often.  I think I will email Mike (Skief) and ask how they are.

I went on our annual wildflower tour this morning.  The weather is perfect, and we found and identified 70 different wildflowers and grasses.  Some had bloomed earlier, but we still found them.  It's a fun and educational way to spend a morning.

I need to call Abby and see how she is doing.  She has been in Bible school all week, and I haven't seen her.  She loves going to look at the flowers, but since she was in evening Bible school, it didn't work out this time, and she is very disappointed.  Darrel said she called while I was gone.

Larry and Ruth Ann, hope you both feel good today, and please don't work too hard!

Nice devotional and so true.  Thanks, Janet!

It is a sort of cloudy day here on the island.  I had an early coffee outside with Wendy this morning....also Misty.  She loves to get in on everything....The hummingbirds were showing off and one sat still and stared at Misty for ages.  Think it was daring her to do something.  Not a good idea, we had to discourage her from going and sitting under the feeder.  Until then, Misty had been sitting on a chair beside us  :-\  Makes one wonder about the nature of ALL living creatures.

Not a good day for either Wendy or me...So doing small things to help her and keep my mind off the old body.  Will cook a light dinner for them tonight.  Salmon Loaf, veg. & salad, Choc. pudding.  Nothing to get very excited over this time.

Spent some time at Photography site.  Also entered a few photo's into the gallery.  Pat won Photo of the Day (or was it week?).  Nice pictures to be found on the site and worth a visit from everyone.  I have been slow to go there and hope to visit more often.

Time to go and fold some laundry for Wendy.  Here is a small something from my devotional:

When dawn announces each new day,
Before you rise up out of bed,
Rejoice—be glad and give God praise,
And thank Him for what lies ahead. —Sper

A smile is a curve that can set things straight.
;D  ;D  ;D

Pleasant day folks and hope people come back to post more often.  So many interesting people have been ignoring us lately.

God Bless,

Liz

I had such great plans for lots of jobs today but I found myself very tired and I've been sleeping off and on.

I went out to my garden swing to read for awhile with a cup of coffee and fell asleep out there!  LOL

So, here I am at the end of the day with all of my jobs still undone.

I will be back a little later to open a new NEM.

God bless you all.
