Morning Devotional...

Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:25

The commanding pilot of a jumbo jet flying cross-country suffered a heart attack and died in flight. Over 300 people on board came to no harm because the co-pilot took over and landed the plane without incident.

However, for eternal salvation, there is one and only "one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Tim. 2:5).

Thank God that our Saviour will never die and we are eternally safe in Him.  "Because I live, ye shall live also" (Jn. 14:19).
                                                             --David J. Logan

Rejoice, rejoice O Christian,
lift up your voice and sing;
Eternal hallelujahs
to Jesus Christ the King.

Hello friends, here I am talking for the next day again!

Welcome to Ursula, John and Caroleen!  And anyone else I may have missed.

Pat, you are such a busy lady this week.  I don't know how you do all that driving, I would be worn out.  Thank you for the devotional which I just read. The visit at the dialysis unit must have been hard for you, but maybe healing in its own way, too, helping you get one more step beyond.

Janet, it's so good to see you back!  Hope your week was productive.

Marilyn, I guess you are counting the days now and not the months anymore!  How exciting for you, new home, new job soon (we hope) and new life.  I really wish you well, and a safe move.  How many miles away is it to Eureka?

Carol, no I haven't had any esophageal surgery before, just the endoscopies and there have been 7 of those over the years.  Tomorrow morning (today rather) I have to go to the hospital and get a manometry done, which is necessary preceding the surgery.  In prep for that, I had to quit taking the Nexium this week.  My stars, the acid really hits hard when you leave off the meds.  I hope your situation will improve and not have to have surgery done again.

One of my favorite hymns is "Trust and Obey" and another is "Jesus Paid it All."

I better get to bed, tomorrow comes pretty soon!
G'Night,  Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Iain

Pat,
I have only scratched the surface of this site and I cannot tell you how much I enjoy it. My soul was so refreshed reading through Al's devotionas on the Psalms, then a spent the best part of 15mins doing a jigsaw! Well done sis, this is the doing of the Lord and wondrous in our eyes.

Here are some of my thoughts this morning:

'I will arise and go to my Father.' Luke 15:18
For the child of God there is a great deal of shame involved in sin. Much is said of the Prodigal Son, and that passage is interpreted in various ways.
Much is said of the Fathers willingness to receive, and rightly so, but what of the penitent?
I thankfully had a great relationship with my father, we were very close and I hated letting him down. However I often did.
Whenever I confessed my failings to him, he never once raised his voice to me. His eyes used to fill with tears, and I thought then that they were tears of disappointment. This used to break my heart. No words needed to be spoken, no rebuke given!
Perhaps as I look back now they were tears of a fathers tender loving heart. Perhaps he was saddened that all his loving care and instruction over the years was bearing little fruit in his eldest son.
As a parent myself now I can understand this. I long to see my children saved and honouring God. I cannot save them, I wish I could, but the sad fact of the matter is that I couldn't even save myself!
I think of the prodigal returning with a broken heart to his loving father. Open arms await him, yet he is too ashamed to look his father in the eye. He feels ashamed, embarrassed and totally dejected. 'After all the love he has shown me, why Oh why did I have to spoil things and sin against him like I did?'
Take heart dear friend, he may not have been able to look up and see the love in his fathers eyes, yet as he gazed down to the earth he would have seen his fathers loving hand place a ring of reconciliation on his finger!
Only then would he have been able to look his father in the eye.
Have you sinned against your Heavenly Father in a way that has left you feeling ashamed? My friend He awaits your return with open arms. The love that He has for you is greater than the sin that you have sinned against Him.
He has proved that to you by giving freely of His Son as a sacrifice for sin on your behalf. What more can a loving Heavenly Father do?
You have sinned against Him and He has provided the remedy. Honour God today and accept His sacrifice. Accept wholeheartedly His love for you and accept the righteousness purchased for you by Christ.
Only then can you look your loving Heavenly Father in the face and say, 'thank you Father for your love.'
'Thank you Dear Lord for saving a sinner like me.'

P.S. Do you folk still sing 'Amazing Grace' over there as that's what was going through my mind as I was typing this?

I couldn't sleep so got up to read.

Then I came here and found your morning thoughts, Iain.  What a feast!

AMAZING GRACE
(Click title to hear music)

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.

When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

Good Morning Again...

I finally got some sleep and have come back and re-read your thoughts, Iain.  Thanks so much for them.

I'm off to London today to have two teeth pulled so won't be around much till much later.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning to you early ones--Iain, Janice and Pat.  And a later good morning to the rest of you who will pop in later.

Janice, I pray you won't have too much acid flaring up after leaving off the Nexium, and that you will have the best possible result from the upcoming surgery.  It really is amazing what they can do these days!

Thanks for missing me!  I had a wonderful few days painting with a great group of friends and a fantastic instructor.  He is from Amarillo--name is Jack Sorenson, and he is one of the best-selling artists in Santa Fe.  His stuff is in the Joe Wade gallery there, if any of you happen to go to Santa Fe.

I am playing catch up now, and will begin preparing to go to the family reunion coming up on the 14th and 15th.  We will probably go up early to help my sister prepare for it.  It's a big job, and they have been really busy with their siding business.

Oh, Janice, you asked about Beth.  She is still not back to work, seems week and unstable when she walks.  But she is very excited because her friend John is coming in just a few days to visit her.  They have a computer friendship so far, so we will see how it works out in person.  She has never had a boyfriend before, so she is understandably nervous.

I must get some stuff done here!

Hey, Sonja!  How are you doing??

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone and a big welcome to Caroleen.  This is a great place to quickly make friends and I am so happy to see you joining us.

It is an overcast morning here in Georgia and is suppose to start raining later this afternoon and through the weekend.  Everything is really green down here and our drought is certainly broken.

Iain, your devotional thoughts this morning certainly hit home as we also had a prodigal son who came back home and now we enjoy a fine relationship.  We certainly do sing Amazing Grace fairly often and it is one of my favorite hymns.  Our choir director, who is a soloists witht he Atlanta Symphony Chorus, and it without music some months ago and I don't think there were many dry eyes in the congregation.

Pat, hope your tooth pulling experience will not be too painful but doubt that you are going to feel up to par for a few days.  At least this is the weekend coming up so maybe you won't have to be as busy.  Take care of yourself and do as the dentist orders.

Janet, nice to see you back posting.  Will we be seeing the results of your lessons soon.  I am glad you were able to train under such a distinguished teacher.  It is wonderful that Beth can look forward to the visit from her cyber friend.  I know of several relationships that have started this way, including my granddaughters.

Janice, I hope your test today will not be painful and sure feel for you having to experience the acid reflux problem.  Will you be able to resume your medication following this test?

Marilyn, it would certainly be wonderful if your resume's generated employment opportunities that would be awaiting you.

Jerry, do you have a big shop?  It is nice to have a place to work if you are handy with your hands, which you apparently are.  When I was a youth and in 4-H work I took some wordworking classes from our minister, who was also the industrial arts instructor at the highschool.  Unfotunately it didn't take and I have never been skilled with woodworking.

Jeanne, that would have been embarrassing for you but I bet everyone else really enjoyed the moment.  I am sure I have had some embarrassing moments but just can't think of any at this time.

Good Morning.
Pat: thank you for he devotional this morning.

Iain. Your exhotation on the pordigal son, reminds me of the past I left behind. My mother prayed for me everyday of my life while she was living and this prodigal daughter did not come to truly know the Lord until shortly after she was gone. I think of the lies I told her about how I was living in my life of sin. I know that she knew I was telling her lies. She was such a loving mother, I miss her terribly. Iain, the other her know about my past, Have you read my testimony? I God can and did turn my life aroiund I know he will do it for any and all who truly seek Him with all their hearts. :) :)

Janet It is so good to have you back.

Hi Larry you were posting at the same time as me.

I'll will be back later

Good morning,

I've been trying to think what my favourite hymns are, and I can't come up with just a few, there are so many.  Any Easter hymn, just about any Easter hymn.  I also really like "Take My Hand and Lead Me" (which I learned in German a long time ago, "So nimm' den meine Haende", something like that) and was my Confirmation song.

Anyway.  Good morning from Ottawa, it's a beautiful, sunny day.

Ursula

JudyB

Good day everybody.

Pat all those years driving school bus prepared you for this time of driving,  I hope you have someone with you for the drive home as pain can reduce defensive driving.  I do know you will have put a few extra seconds between you and the guy in front.  Will be praying for travelling safety.

One if my favourite hymns is
Blest Be The Tie That Binds
Our hearts in Christian love
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.

I don't know how to put the music on but the memories surrounding that hymn are enormous.  At the church we grew up in we sang it immediately after Lord's Supper.

Well I have a big day ahead, washing sheets and pillows to destroy the strep germs.

God bless you one and all
Judy

Janice

Good morning, Pat, Iain, Larry, Marilyn, Ursula, JudyB, Janet, anyone else aboard right now?

I had the manometry done, it wasn't so bad.  If you are the sort to gag easily it might be, but I had no problem.  YES!  I can take the Nexium again now!   I am wondering if I will still need it after the surgery?  Hope not.

Janet, how excited Beth must be, her friend coming to visit.  I hope it is a pleasant experience for her, and not too stressful getting ready for it.  (For you, too!)  It must concern you a little bit, sometimes Internet friendships are great, and sometimes not.  I do hope she enjoys the visit, and the friendship flourishes.  God bless her!

Iain, I always like hearing about the Prodigal Son story.  It tells us so much about the love and mercy of the Father, and the turnaround for the prodigal.

JudyB, I like that hymn too.  We used to sing it quite often in the little church where I mostly grew up, in Arkansas.

Gotta run, much to do today.
Love in Jesus,

Well, maybe it's about time I spoke up again.   ::)
I always love to read the devotional thoughts from Pat, Iain, Papa John, and Al ... others as well, but these seem to be the main ministers.   :)

Good morning to Marilyn, Larry, Judy B, Janice, Janet, Ursula, and all those who will slip in here while my back is turned.   8)

About cyber friendships ... maybe y'all don't know that is how I "met" Nita ... I had been reading her posts in SN for some time, and was so impressed with her love and encouraging words for everyone.  I could tell she was a Christian, and would "follow her around" that forum just to read what she would share.  Finally, I wrote her an email with a question ... sort of testing to see how--or IF--she'd respond.   ???  Well, her response was totally genuine and so full of the love of the Lord, that we bagan a correspondence that grew into a very strong friendship ... all this was long before we ever met "face to face" ... Now I live just across town from her and we still email and IM often, along with phone calls back and forth.  We even manage to get together for visits and/or a meal or just a drive out to the ocean beaches every once in a while ... We are now "bestest friends"   :P :D 8)
You don't need to be concerned about cyber friendships if you allow the Lord to guide you and He can "censor" anything that is not in line with His will.

I'll be back d'rectly ... y'all take care now, y'hear?

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

I'm stopping by the computer for a minute between chores.  My "adopted" and much loved brother, Don, has been making missions trips to Mexico to build small houses for the people, and he takes clothing, too.  So Darrel and I are cleaning closets and drawers and getting lots of stuff for him to take to Mexico on his next trip.  I found quite a few things with tags still on, new and never worn!  I know they will like those!  Sometimes things get buried in the closet or drawers and forgotten, and I figure if I haven't been using them I won't miss them, so might as well bless someone else with them.

About Cyber-friendships---I know there have been some bad things happen, but also many wonderful connections have been made.  John also has NF, so he understands Beth's problems as well as anyone can.  They have been corresponding via computer (with video cams!) and telephone for well over a year now, so I think they know each other pretty well.  John seems to have good morals and a good work ethic, and he is a Christian.  And he even agrees with me politically!  (hee hee!)  ;) ;D  Beth pretty well believes everything I do, so they seem to be compatible.  Now, to see how it works out when they are actually face to face!  Please pray that things will go as the Lord desires.  I know everyone needs a special person in their life, and I hope John is the one for Beth.

Back to the sorting!  See you later!

I thought this was good, so I wanted to share it with you.

SAND AND STONE

Two friends were walking through the desert. In a specific point of the
journey, they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in
the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but...without saying
anything, wrote in the sand:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to
take a bath. The one who got slapped and hurt started drowning, and the
other friend saved him. When he recovered from the fright, he wrote on a
stone:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.

The friend who saved and slapped his best friend, asked him "Why, after
I hurt you, did you write in the sand, and now you write on a stone?"

The other friend, smiling, replied, "When a friend hurts us, we should
write it down in the sand, where the winds of forgiveness get in charge
of erasing it away, and when something great happens, we should engrave
it in the stone of the memory of the heart, where no wind can erase it."

Learn to write in the sand.

"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father
will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your
Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:14-15

PRAYER
Gracious and forgiving God, help us this day to become more like you in
our ability to forgive and forget. Amen.

We had sunshine this morning and rain this afternoon.  Both the sunshine and the rain are blessings from God.

Pat, thanks for the devotional this morning.  In Hebrews we see the superiority of Jesus and the gospel over Moses and the law.  Jesus, God's son, as our high priest can do what none of the Levitical priests could do.

When I read this, I thought it sounded a bit like Sonja's family!  Anyway, a family that knows how to enjoy life!

CAN FAMILY LIFE BE FUN?

A family in the East was planning a month's vacation to
the West Coast. At the last minute, the father's work
responsibilities prevented him from going, but Mom insisted
that she was capable of driving and that she and the kids
would go ahead. Dad got out the maps and planned the route
and where the family should stop each night.

A couple of weeks later, the father completed his extra
work responsibilities. He decided to surprise the family,
so he flew to a West Coast city without calling them. Then
he took a taxi out into the country on a highway that,
according to his travel plan, the family should be
driving on later that day. The taxi driver dropped
him off on the side of the road.

Dad waited there until he saw the family car coming,
then stuck out his thumb as a hitchhiker. As Mom and
the kids drove past, they did a double take. One of
the kids said, "Hey wasn't that Dad?" Mom screeched
to a stop, backed up to the hitchhiker, and the family
had a joyful reunion.

Later, when a newspaper reporter asked the man why he
would do such a crazy thing, he responded, "After I die,
I want my kids to be able to say, 'Dad sure was fun,
wasn't he?'"

Larry ~ No I am sorry to say, I don't have a large shop. Last year when I moved my mobile home here to Pendleton, I had a 12x14 shed built and I am using the first 8x12 feet for shop and the back 6x12 for storage. I am going to build a loft to put some of the things that  I don't want to part with, like my Christmas decorations that Bev and I had for some years and any other boxed things. I am going to put shelves in the lower part for bolts, nuts and things I can use to tinker with! I do love to tinker, I spent today converting those touch lights (They are the ones that you push the dome to turn them on/off and operate on AA batteries) over to 12 volt and wired them so I can run them on a power supply. I intend to use them as deck lights on my porch and down my steps.I have my house numbers made into a light so it will be lit up also! I eventually want to put lights in my driveway markers also! I only hope I can keep the kids from destroying all of it for me. I set a cement angel out by my porch steps and it lasted three days before they broke one of the hands off! WOW---- This has gotten long and is probably a lot lore than any of you wanted to know. Etta Sue is always telling me the women don't really care about this kind of thing when I write about it. (VBG)

Janet ~ You said you just popped in to see what was happening, well, I hope you have your lunch with you now. You will need some nourishment to get you through this  ;D ;D ;D

I am praying for a super stupendous night for everyone and may you have blissful sleep and pleasant dreams.

Good evening!  We're having heavy rains in Georgia.

I've read with great interest the posts of Iain and Papa John and enjoyed them very much.

For JudyB. - We still sing "Blest Be the Tie" sometimes and it always brings back memories of when I was a teen and went to our Minister's house for singing hymns and playing fun games after church services for Teen night.

We have 2 sons who have left the church, but say they believe.  The oldest was prodigal for many years, but we are close now and phone one another every day and visit often.

There are so many bible verses that I love and this is one of my favorites:

James 1:5...."If any of the lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.  6...But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind."

Hello Everyone!

I've come home from London with a very sore jaw.  They had trouble with one of the teeth as the root had fused to the bone so lots of cutting and banging and...  well, no more details are necessary!   ;D

Nice to read everyone's posts.

I'm going to shut down early tonight.

I may not have a devotional but if I don't, just carry on with today's thread but we'll see how I feel a bit later on.  I've taken some Tylenol 3's to kill the pain.

Talk to you later!

Till the Storm Passes By
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Mosie Lister

Mark 4:39
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace be still.  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howl above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,
Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;
In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

I am glad you are safely home pat, What an ORDEAL. I am so glad that I have my choppers and don't have to worry about real teeth. LOL ;D ;D ;D ;D
I tis good to read all the posts for today. I sent off another resume and worked on my web site today at work. I've added 3 of Jeannie's paintings to the pictures of Jesus page in another paragraph and a link to her site on my main page as well as with her paintings. I Put one on SN and added one here. She said she has visited here but I don't know if she knows how to register and get logged in.

Jerry, no problem reading your post.  I like to hear things like that, and wish we could get many small things and several big ones done around here.  We have good intentions, but then wonder where the time and energy went! :-\

Pat, sorry they had such a time with that tooth of yours!  I am blessed with very good health and very good teeth, and I'm so thankful for it all.  I hope your jaw feels much better in the morning.

Marilyn, you do keep yourself busy, don't you?  I haven't had time yet to check out your friend's page of paintings.

Joan, it's always good to see you here!  I hope you're enjoying a great day, too.

I'm going to bed early tonight, just because!

Hmmm, I came in here to post a halfway intelligent, edifying post, and forgot completely what I was going to say.  :-\
Ugh.
Take care and have a good night everyone!

Pat - Hope you feel better soon . Tomorrow you will probably feel like you're the loser in a prize-fight.  :(

Larry - I also had a "prodigal son" but in my case it was my youngest daughter.  She has turned her life around (thanks to the Lord) and we are close again.

I love Amazing Grace but for some reason when I play the music for the hymns it's all static.  I have to get my husband to figure out why.

Janet - I will be praying that Beth's meeting turns out well.  She deserves to have someone special in her life.  The computer has brought many people together, including members of my family.

Just popping in to say hi.  Pat, how have you been?  I still wait to get that coffee in with you.  Haven't heard from you in a while.  Hope you're doing alright.  Jen.

Janice

Pat, I am so sorry about your dental ordeal today, and you even had to drive home after all that!   :(  Hope you feel better tomorrow.  Would you believe the song you posted for us "Till the storm passes by" was one I just learned on Tuesday!  I joined the OASIS choir at our church right after we became members there last summer.  We oldsters sing mostly the old time songs, but that one was new to me.  Most of the others knew it.
Take care of yourself!

This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Iain

Pat - I have often found that when the pain has been most severe, the dew from heaven descends and my soul delights itself in fat things. I pray that will also be the case with you.

I'm in a rush this morning as I am taking my photos to a Mini Market where I have a stall today, hoping to earn a few bob. Oops, sorry. what is the American version of 'A few bob?'

I have a real old copy of 'Streams in the Desert' which I read every morning. It does not seem to matter how often I read through these gems, there always seems to be a crumb from the Master's Table for me.

I have two favourite readings, one of which is posted below, the other, I hope to post on Monday. May it be blessed to your soul and may you enjoy a blessed and peaceful Sabbath.

"Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord." --Exodus 14:13

These words contain God's command to the believer when he is reduced to great straits and brought into extraordinary difficulties. He cannot retreat; he cannot go forward; he is shut up on the right hand and on the left; what is he now to do?

The Master's word to him is, "Stand still." It will be well for him if at such times he listens only to his Master's word, for other and evil advisers come with their suggestions. Despair whispers, "Lie down and die; give it all up." But God would have us put on a cheerful courage, and even in our worst times, rejoice in His love and faithfulness.

Cowardice says, "Retreat; go back to the worldling's way of action; you cannot play the Christian's part, it is too difficult. Relinquish your principles." But, however much Satan may urge this course upon you, you cannot follow it if you are a child of God. His divine fiat has bid thee go from strength to strength, and so thou shalt, and neither death nor hell shall turn thee from thy course.

What, if for a while thou art called to stand still, yet this is but to renew thy strength for some greater advance in due time. Precipitancy cries, "do something. Stir yourself; to stand still and wait, is sheer idleness." We must be doing something at once--we must do it so we think--instead of looking to the Lord, who will not only do something but will do everything.

Presumption boasts, "If the sea be before you, march into it and expect a miracle." But Faith listens neither to Presumption, nor to Despair, nor to Cowardice, nor to Precipitancy, but it hears God say, "Stand still," and immovable as a rock it stands.

"Stand still";--keep the posture of an upright man, ready for action, expecting further orders, cheerfully and patiently awaiting the directing voice; and it will not be long ere God shall say to you, as distinctly as Moses said it to the people of Israel, "Go forward."

Thanks Iain!

I really appreciate your contributions here each morning.   I have a copy of Streams in the Desert that was my parents' copy and I used to read it each day as well.  I must look it up and get it out again.

The pain isn't quite so bad this morning although, I experienced little sleep last night.

At 4 pm this afternoon, I can start rinsing my mouth with salt water.  That, I hope, will also help.  I mustn't do that too soon as salt promotes bleeding.

Anyway, enough of my troubles...

I do pray that each of you experience a closeness with the Lord today as you prepare for the Lord's Day tomorrow.  I pray that you'll all "Stand Still" and wait for the Lord's voice as in Iain's words above, "Go Forward".  Oh that we would all have such a close and intimate relationship with our Master that we hear His voice clearly all the time.

"A few bob"!  I haven't heard that term for a long time, Iain!   ;D  Even though we used dollars over here, Jack used the term "bob" all of the time.  I hope you earn a few today.

Speaking of Jack, Heather gave me a photo to scan of Jack and he's wearing his kilt!  I'll post it over in the photos area for you to see...especially our Iain!  (Iain, do you wear a kilt at all?  Jack loved his and wore it often).

Now, I'm back to lie down with an ice pack on my cheek!

I hope you do come back with a few "bob" today, Iain.  I guess we'd call them "bucks" or "sawbucks."
I appreciate that the kilt means something to the Scots, but I can certainly understand their being called by that name, because I'd feel as if I'd been kilt to wear one!
I'd appreciate your prayer for me, folks.  Today I go up to Brookings, Oregon to preach tomorrow at Pistol River.  But the big thing today is that we'll be meeting my boyhood friend of 53 years ago.  It's the first time I will have seen him in all those years!  It turns out he lives just above Brookings.  I don't know that he knows our Lord, so pray they'll be receptive.

Hi everyone.  It has rained all night long and is really gloomy here today and suppose to rain throughout the weekend.  However, no complaints as we are nice and cozy in our house.  At noon today we are going to the old Stone Mountain Village, which is next to Stone Mountain Park, to attend a special luncheon for good friends of ours from church who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.  So know it will be a time of warm and loving fellowship as we dine together.

Last evening we went out to eat with other friends of our and then they stopped by the house for a few minutes of good conversation.  A very enjoyable time.

Iain, thanks for sharing that writing with us this morning.  Our culture sure doesn't teach uf to "stand still" but those are certainly words of wisdom.

Pat, it sounds like you had a very unpleasant day in the dentist chair yesterday.  Do hope the pain will not be too severe today.  I liked the picture of Jack in the kilt.  One of the couples from our church group are Scottish hertiage and he has a kilt, but have never seen him wear  it, only seen pictures.  They have traveled widely to attend the various Scottish festivals.

Beverly, so glad that your daughter returned to the fold and you have a good relationship with her.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Larry, there's a beautiful old German restaurant in that area. My friend and I certainly enjoyed eating there a few years back. Great food and the atmosphere was wonderful.

Good morning!

Iain, we say "make a few bucks" here.  I just asked my husband about a 'sawbuck' and he said he thinks that refers to a $5 bill.  I don't know!  Anyway, I hope you make a good pile of bob today with your photos. ::)

Larry, your day sounds very pleasant.  It rained here most of the night, too, and is quite cool.  Darrel is wondering about pulling the fifth wheel trailer out of the garage, because the ground is so soft and muddy.  We will be taking it to the family reunion, leaving next Thursday, so I hope it dries up enough that we can get the trailer out!  I don't fancy sleeping on the muddy ground. :-\ :( >:(

Pat, I hope your jaw/mouth feels better each hour.  You aren't having all your teeth pulled, are you?  I know a guy here who for years has had ONE tooth left, right in the front!  Not too pretty.  I don't know why he doesn't give up that last one and get dentures.

Hi, Al!  I pray your meeting with your friend proves a real blessing to all involved.

Hello, Janice!  Good to see you here today and I do hope we get to meet someday before too long.  You don't live all that far from me.  I hope both you and Earl are feeling good today.

Hi, Jen!  We miss you when you don't post, so come on in and chat a little more, won't you?

Paulette, good to greet you today.  What are your plans with those cute kiddies of yours today?

Sonja, where are you?  I really miss your posts when they don't appear.  Remember, you are much loved here.

The community here is having a benefit for a couple today, both have cancer.  The wife had colon cancer surgery, and just after being released from the hospital, her husband began to drag one leg, could hardly get around, and he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  They said in Wichita that it was inoperable, but they went to Kansas City, and they did operate.  Now both are taking chemo, etc.  They are a lovely Christian couple, and I hope this day brings in a lot of monetary support to help them with the expenses.  There is a bake sale, rummage sale, and a dinner, all out at the 4-H building on the fairgrounds.  So that's where we will be eating lunch.

I'd best stop before you get bored and run on past!

Hello hello hello

Cold and rainy here.  Well, not really cold, but as i have no socks on, my feet are.  Travis is taking his midmorning nap, and I am trying to get soem work done. Can't you see how hard I'm working!  ;)

Pat, sorry about hte extractions.  I had to have 4 teeth pulled before I could get braces (there was no where for my teeth to move!) then in college, I had oral surgery to remove four impacted wisdom teeth.  I would take the wisdom teeth surgery ANYDAY! over extractions.  Anyway, hope you are feeling better and getting some rest.

bernard and i were going to go riding today, but since it is still raining, decided that it would be better to stay off of the trails.  Wet trails get damaged very quickly.

We have a deep Scottish and Irish heritage here in Western NC.  Though I have never been, Blowing Rock, NC has the Highland Games every year.  They do traditional stuff and most of the men wear their kilts.

Have an awesome day!

Pat

Yea thanks Pat, I sold 11 photographs today and around 50 others took business cards to view the website.

One of the places where the bagpipes stayed for a time was Fort William, unfortunately I cannot remember the other town in Canada.

Two photographs also went to Vancouver this week! Keep it up Canada!

LOL

Pat

Well, Fort William and Port Arthur were two cities at the top of Lake Superior and they've amalgamated into one city called Thunder Bay!

My daughter lived 55 km to the west of Thunder Bay for about 10 years and we missed them a lot.  It is 20 hours drive to get to Thunder Bay from Guelph.  I'm so happy that they are in Southern Ontario now.

Glad you earned a few bob!

Well I have come back in to blow some steam. I am so sorry to let it out on my friends here, please pray. You know the problems with my landsords. well now they are moving all my stuff out of the shed and setting it out side so they can put more of his equipment in  and had another shed delivered this morning on top of that. I told them I wanted my stuff under the eaves of the house and covered with a trarp. I was only using and 2 1/2 X 6 foot spot. I have to go supervise my stuff because when some one else moves it around things get lost. I lready had to go retrieve Brand new curtian rods from their stuff. Then the pump holding tank started leaking and I have no water until some friend of theirs comes to look and see if he can fix it. The friend is to be here "sometime" this afternoon.GRRRRRRRRR >:( >:( >:( I have already lost my cool with them going in and out of my house and all else too. I Let her have it. Oops not very christ like of me either. At least no foul language came out.

Marilyn, it is perfectly all right to defend your rights!  God never asked us to be a door mat for other people.  As long as you pay the rent, the house should be considered yours, and no one has the right to just come barging in whenever they feel like it!  On our lease/rental agreements for the properties we own, we stipulate the right to come in once a month to inspect the property (we don't do it, but if need be, we do have that right) but to just come and go in someone's living space at will just is NOT RIGHT!  Same for the storage space.  I would be upset, too!  And I'm glad you told her about it!

Marilyn God bless you, it sounds like you are being taxed far more than you should.  Yes I am praying for you.  Just remember you are not a doormat you are a child of the King of Kings.  Now take a deep breath and pray that God's peace will fill you and you will have His wisdom to say and do what you need.

Papa John

Let me drop in for a minute today.

Marilyn, sorry about your problems.  Things will be better soon.

Good to see everyone.  Iain, I'm glad you made a few Bob.  I think we would say a few bucks.

Pat, many years ago I was having a wisdom tooth removed.  The dentist had problems with it.  It broke off in pieces and he worked and worked.  He would leave and come back and work some more.  His assistant would pat me on the shoulder and say, "poor Mr. Murphree."  Anyway when it was over the dentist said, "I know you are going to tell people about this."  He just made up a name and said, "Tell them DR SHULTZ did it."  I hope your mouth is well soon.

Joan, I like that passage in James too.  Many times I have gone to the Lord in prayer and asked for wisdom to deal with this or that problem.

Their friend arrive and is outside working on his truck that is storedd here. Not even looking at the pump and he is the electrician they said they had to wait for. But I am calming myself down relaxing and trying to let go and let God handle this for me. I was sooooo stressed out by them.  As if i don't have enough to do, then they make more work for me to do.
Now the friend tells me that he doesn't know how to fix the pump ll he knows how tdo is install it. Oh My,My, what a weekend.

Niether have I Pat. Well everything is working again My last load of laundry is in the dryer and I will be able to take my shower. what a relief. owever I know that after I go to church in the morning they will be in and out of my house  some more even after I lock the door. I just want to be left alone for the rest of the week end.

Praise God though for the trials and tribulation we go THROUGH. Because He goes  THROUGH them with us. We don't have to get stuck in the middle of the valley with Jesus at our sides.

My kids have a song they like to sing.  It is called The Bear Hunt

Going on a bear hunt
We're not scared,
uhoh Look what's up ahead
It's a muddy swamp.
We can't go over it,
We can't go under it.
Can't go around it,
GUESS WE GOTTA GO THROUGH IT.

So many things in life are muddy swamps and we have to go through them.  BUT we can know that the Lord is holding our hand and He has something to teach us through the mud.

My pastor has a favourite verse "And it came to pass" it didn't come to stay.

My hubby is coming home toight, it is raining and the roads are slick.  Pray for safety as he drives, and a restful day tomorrow.

God bless you all
Judy

Etta Sue

Thanks, Pat, for welcoming be back.  It seems like it was a long time without CP!

What a wonderful two days and nights spent with my niece and her family.  I got to see another niece and her three-week old baby, Isabelle also.  Even got to hold her and give her her bottle.  SOOOO much hair on a baby!  She could use barrettes!  We had two nights of watching dancing.  I took photos of the rehearsal but I don't care for my camera for pictures inside when it is dark and we weren't allowed to use flash.  We brought back Lydia with us.  She is 4.  Talks all the time but hard to understand at times.   :-\  She has already been over to visit Ali and me.

We got home around 1pm today.  I came in, put food out for Ali, changed clothes and mowed the lawn.  Then used vegatation kill around some trees, bushes, and my deck.  Then it was shower time.

Now to get caught up on the PC.  I have read everyone's post.  All I can say is, Beth, follow your heart.  I met Jerry online.  And it is true, you have to be careful...there are some weirdoes out there.  Jerry ARE one!  No, all kidding aside.  Jerry is my special friend.  We met when we both needed companionship.  We are good for each other but we also need our space.

I am ready for the Lord's Day.  Tomorrow afternoon Ivalou, Lydia and I are going on the Home Tour, touring 6 homes in our area.  That should be fun after listening to a wonderful sermon in God's house.

June 6th quote is too good to passover.
"I know things are tough right now, but just remember, every flower that ever bloomed had to go through a whole lot of dirt to get there!"
The todays quote is...
"Eat a live toad first thing in the morning, and nothing worse can happen to you the rest of the day!"

God Bless All of You.

Welcome back Etta!!

Judy, we also used to go on "bear hunts."  We had other verses about things we couldn't go around, over, through, etc.  One of those campfire, action kinda songs.

Marilyn, if nothing else, maybe these trials will make you place up north even more appealing!

Well, i'm off to tour the rest of the site for a moment.  Then, maybe go take some pictures.

Hi, Etta Sue!  Hi, Karma!  Hello, Papa John!

I stayed off the computer for several hours this afternoon and worked on my painting.  I'm doing one of a section of the Great Wall of China.  It's going pretty well, I think.

I want to read for a while, see y'all tomorrow!

I know I haven't been around much lately, but I have a good excuse.  (My mother always said "if you had a good excuse you wouldn't need to use it.")  I've been moving, arranging, re-moving and re-arranging the living room furniture.  I think I finally have it right, at least the big stuff, but now it's the all the little details and accessories.   :-\  All this pushing, pulling, shoving really tires an old lady out and I've been just falling into bed every night.

Next week will be a long one, too.  I'll be filling in for the other girl while she takes one week of her vacation so I'll be working from 8:00 to 5:00 every day, except Friday which will be 8:30 to noon.  My next paycheck will really look nice! ;D

Well, folks, I am going to "hit the hay."  I am extremely sleepy, and don't want to fall asleep at church.  It would be just like my preacher to say something to me.  That, and we have chairs, not pews, and I would probably fall out or something.

Good night all.  have an awesoem Lord's day!
