JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

Morning Devotional...

The glory which I had with Thee before the world was. . . that they may behold My glory.
John 17:5, 24

Before ever a planet hung in space or an angel served in heaven, there was God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

God, inhabiting eternity, fully satisfied in the delights of divine Persons, needing nothing to fulfill Their joy.

Yet somewhere in that vast sea of Life and Light and Love there arose a plan to bring creatures into being, that would share that joy and see that glory. But what a price! Calvary, the darkness, and the sword.

May we bow in wonder today and worship God for who He is and what He has done.
--J. Boyd Nicholson

Thine is the joy but yet 'tis mine,
'tis ours as one with Thee;
My joy flows from that grief of Thine,
Thy death brings life to me.

Prayer: The Prayer of Faith

..The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
--James 5:16

A second important requirement if the believing church is to be used
in God's ministry is prayer and the response God makes to our prayers
uttered in true faith.... No matter what our stature or status, we
have the authority in the family of God to pray the prayer of faith.
The prayer of faith engages the heart of God, meeting God's
conditions of spiritual life and victory.

Our consideration of the power and efficacy of prayer enters into
the question of why we are part of a Christian congregation and what
that congregation is striving to be and do. We have to consider
whether we are just going around and around--like a religious merry-
go-round. Are we simply holding on to the painted mane of the
painted horse, repeating a trip of very insignificant circles to a
pleasing musical accompaniment?...

All of the advertising we can do will never equal the interest and
participation in the things of God resulting from the gracious
answers to the prayers of faith generated by the Holy Spirit.
Tragedy in the Church: The Missing Gifts, 7-8.

"Lord, don't ever let me be satisfied 'holding on to the painted
mane of the painted horse.' I want to be part of a dynamic Body of
believers, greatly used of You because we're seeing answers to
genuine 'prayers of faith generated by the Holy Spirit.' Amen."

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portals He's waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.

Refrain

Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?

Refrain

Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
Coming for you and for me.

Refrain

O for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.

Refrain

                                                        April 10, 2005

VERSE:
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also
received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the
third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of
Cephas, then of the twelve...
    -- 1 Corinthians 15:3-5
       http://www.searchgodsword.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+15:3-5&translation=kjv

THOUGHT:
Some things are "first importance" things. They lie at the heart
of the matter and are central to the issue at hand. For us as
Christians, we don't have to doubt what those "first importance"
things are. The Gospel of our salvation is built on one simple
foundation: Jesus died, Jesus was buried, Jesus rose from the
grave, and Jesus appeared to his disciples who were never the same
after witnessing their resurrected Savior. Let's not let anyone
distract us from these core truths or crowd out their simplicity
with other matters they may claim to be essential. Our salvation is
rooted in our faith and our participation in this simple, yet
powerful Gospel.

PRAYER:
Dear God, I confess my faith in your work for me in Jesus. I
believe that your Son and my Savior, Jesus, was crucified by wicked
men just as you had said long ago in your Word. I believe his dead
and lifeless body was placed in the tomb. I believe that on the
third day, you brought him back to life, just as you promised. I
believe that those most destroyed by his death, those who knew him
best, saw him alive again. I believe their lives were never the
same. I believe, dear Father, that as I have confessed my faith in
Jesus and shared with him in his death, burial, and resurrection
through baptism that my life is caught up with him in your
salvation and victory over death. I praise you for this grace. I
thank you for this assurance. I look forward to sharing in your
glory when he returns for me. Thank you for my salvation, in Jesus'
name. Amen.

Etta Sue

Nice and sun shiny here in Indiana on God's Day.

Yesterday I got out my bucket and shrub brush and cleaned my deck with bleach.  It is resin so bleach does wonders to the mold and mildew and leaf stains.  I rinsed it all off with water.  Then I got my two-wheeled cart and put my yard ornaments in it to set out in my river rocks.  Then I got my little things that I put on my deck along with my white resin lounge chair.  So I have all of that done.  Now to pick up those twigs and take them to the woods.  Then I need to get the roller out and smash down those mole runs.  About time to mow also!!!

But today, since Lynn is visiting her Dad, Ivalou and I are going out to eat after church.  It will be a late lunch since I won't be getting back here until 1 p.m. or later but it is always great to spend time with Ivalou.  She's a jewel.

Have a great God's Day!

Hi everyone.  I slept in this morning and just now getting to the message boards and e-mail.  It is going to be a beautiful day here in the 70s and sunny.  Pat and I are planning to go to church and I expect we will go out to eat after with some of our friends.

Etta Sue, do hope you have a wonderful day with your sister.  We couldn't put out lawn or porch furniture yet as we are just starting to get a yellow haze over everything that is caused by the pine pollen.  It lasts for a couple of weeks.  Fortunately we don't have any pine trees close to our house so don't don't too much of it on our screened in porch, but some.

Pat, do hope you will be able to get to church this morning.

Marilyn

Good Morning Thank you Chris for the deovtionals and song this morning. The subject of the prayer of faith reminds me that I haven't told you that our pastor is having  prayer line formed at the end of the Sunday morning service and is calling for the people to come by in groups of --1. those who need physical healings, 2. emotional healings. 3. spiritual; healings, 4. financial healings. It is ok to go through  for all 4 healings if that is what you need.

Versal has told me that she wants to go to church today so I am praying that her pain will subside long enough to allow her to get to chruch and into that prayer line for her healing today.

The wind was sure cold yesterday. This afternoon I am going next door to dig up some of the flowers that are over there in flower boxes. I would get the boxes but there is no way I can lift them.  I think the demonlition begins tomorrow So I have to get what I can today.

Thank you Al for the call yesterday to remeind me that you have posted some of the edited Psalms that you have been working on.

Larry pollen is flying around here to it usually covers the windshield of my car every year. It is really playing up my allergies too.

There are no allergies in our area today.  Snow if flying horizontal and we have opted to stay off the roads, although the street here doesn't look bad at all.

Have a peaceful day.

Hey everyone,

I got back from Honduras last night. It was the most awesome 1 week in my life. God was so amazing and we couldn't have done anything without him.  I'll post a few pictures--perhaps this afternoon. Thanks for your prayers last week.

Kathy

Well, I'm back after catching up on the last 13 days.  That's when I fell and broke my leg at the ankle :'( :'( :'( Now I have to depend on others for just about everything :'( :'( :'(

But I am blessed with many family and friends who have been more than available :) :) :) and I thank God for each and every one of them.  Guess God wanted some more of my attention.

I have been over to the computer and sat for a while...tried to catch up and see how things were.
I enjoyed reading all the posts. Larry, I enjoyed your informative post about what all is involved in becoming a candidate for heart transplant.

I see that Pat is gettiing just a little better and I pray that this will continue.  Congrats on the picture. :) :) that was the photo of the day.

Marilyn, you have another job  :) :) :) or rather an additional job and still looking for a new home?
I wish you were over here on the Atlantic side as I rattle around in a awfully big house and there is plenty of room for two..even with dogs.  ;) ;)

Etta Sue,   You are quite an inspiration as you continue to take care of Jerry.

Not to forget that our Janet is really a fireball with plenty of talent.  I enjoy her pics  and comments.

Now I know that I've left out a lot of you....please forgive.  My letter is getting long and tiresome.

I'm listening to an afternoon of beautiful hymns on our Christian radio station.

God's blessings to all.   ;)

Oh my Kathy you have broken your leg?  Yes I am still waiting for the Lord to show me where it is that he has my house waiting for me. I think it may still be occupied and He is waiting for them to move out to tell me where it is.

I had a wonderful morning at the service,  took Versal ans she went through the prayer line and got blessed  to pieces. I went through twice and got blessed. Our Pastors wife Michele had her fist Chemo treatment friday and said there have been no side effects this time around. This is her third time with cancer. And that is exactly what I prayed for the Lord to do in her life. No side effects.

I did get to go to church this morning, then ate with friends, then worked as long as I could today. Will rest up and get ready for this difficult week. Between now and Friday, I'll be making about 25,000 mouse clicks to get the work done that is necessary. Thanks for praying that my hands will hold out. Usually I have to go every night and soak my hands in water to relieve the swelling during this time.

Y'all take care - I love each of you.

wOOt!  I am back!  I have such good news, but I need to leave for a few...be back in a bit.

We had a most beautiful day, warm with lots of sun.  Then around 4 in the afternoon a phone call asking if we would like to join a couple of friends at the Wishbone Restaurant for dinner.  Yes we did meet with them.

Now as it is getting late and I am feeling tired I think I will say nite nite to all

I'm so sorry, Kathy.  I broke my ankle 2 weeks before Jack had quadruple bypass surgery back in 1996 and I know just what you're going through.  My goodness.

Hope you can just sit by the computer and talk away to us.

It will be nice to hear your news, Soni!   ;D

Thanks for all the devotionals in here today.  What a feast it's been reading up on them all.

Decided to risk getting bumped on the head.....seems to have been a quiet day in here!

My favorite curling team has won for Canada and again reclaimed the World's title.  Will miss the curling as this closes the season.  Nice way to end tho and pleasant memory of having seen them play at the arena.  Oh, to be young and strong again :-\

Finally have been out with my camera again.  Going to post a couple of pictures.  Nothing too exciting.  Still staying close to home these days.

Here is a small smile:

They Don't Tell Me Anything

A sweet grandmother telephoned Mount Sinai Hospital. She timidly asked, "Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?"

The operator said "I'll be glad to help, Dear. What's the name and room number?"

The grandmother in her weak tremulous voice said, "Holly Finkel in room 302."

The Operator replied, "Let me check. Oh, good news. Her records say that Holly is doing very well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back as normal and her physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged on Tuesday."

The Grandmother said, "Thank you. That's wonderful! I was so worried! God bless you for the good news."

The operator replied, "You're more than welcome. Is Holly your daughter?"

The Grandmother said, "No, I'm Holly Finkel in 302. Dr.Cohen doesn't tell me anything!"

Have a pleasant evening folks and God Bless.

Chandraya and I took off Friday to compete in a dance competition over the weekend.  We had a bit of trouble with the truck as we drove to our destination...the stearing belt broke and I couldn't turn the wheel so I had to pull the truck over.  Thank God I seen my friends right before I left or I would have been stuck out in the middle of nowhere with her.  My dance teacher gave me a ride in her vehicle while my other friend packed my suitcases in her truck.  Friends are awesome! ( Mike fixed it for only $42.00 :D )

Anyway, we get there and Chandraya danced first thing Saturday morning.  She got on stage and did the best she could do.  Every move was perfect and right on the beat.  She smiled ;D the whole time too(this is hard for young ones).  She lost her balance on one part but caught herself and kept going as nothing happened. She walked off stage and competed in her other 4 group dances.

Come awards time for the solo dancers...she sat on stage with the crowd of kids excited and ready to hear what they recieved for an award.  They called out "Naked Mole Rap, Diamond"  She jumped up and was so jazzed that she had won a (1st high score)diamond.  She practice so hard and it paid off.  But it didn't end there....as they were giving out special awards (showmanship, technical skill and Best choreographed dance)..they called out "Naked Molel Rap  recieves the Technical award".  She jumped up and was excited even though she had no idea  ::) what she won. hehehe...   At the end they give out 4 awards for the best dance performed.  They called one of her friends Anthony for 4th place and some other dance from another company for 3rd and 2nd...(Chandraya's dance teacher was sitting next to and looked at me and crossed her fingers.)

The speaker called out "and 1st and over all for the petite solo division(ages 4-8)...." the crowd got silent and they played the song "Naked Mole Rap"  She stood up and started jumping around and ran to the front of the stage and grabbed her BIG trophy(almost as big as her!) :o  I was in tears :'( watching her reaction and knowing that she deserved it.  She worked so hard these past couple months.  Sometimes getting frustrated but never giving up.

She and the other Twinklers took (1st high score)Diamond in her Jazz group "Funky Town",  (1st)Ruby in their Ballet and (2nd)Emerald for their tap.  She also did a special class with some older dancers and took diamond for that.

Mike and I took diamond again for our group tap number and I took diamond for my jazz number.  ;D 8) It was a good weekend.

Practice makes perfect!  Chandraya proved that!  Way to go, MOO!!! Mommy loves you!
