Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Luke 24:1

It was early on the first day of the week, Resurrection Morning, and the disciples came to their Saviour's empty tomb.

Some came with prepared spices. "Certain others also came." I wonder if they were equally prepared? Or did they miss that precious privilege and leave that joyous honor to others?

Two types of disciples will meet at the Remembrance Table this morning to worship our risen Lord.

Will you and I be among "the prepared" or "the others"?

The joy of worship is in being prepared.
--Arnot McIntee

Have you read how He looked to heaven and said,
"'Tis finished; 'twas for thee"?
Have you ever said, "I thank Thee, Lord,
for giving Thy life for me?"

O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:39

Author:  S. Trevor Francis, 1834-1925
Musician:  Thomas John Williams, 1869-1944

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me,
is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward
to Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
spread His praise from shore to shore!
How he loveth, ever loveth,
changeth never, nevermore!
How he watches o'er His loved ones,
died to call them all His own;
How for them intercedeth,
watcheth o'er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
love of every love the best!
'Tis an ocean full of blessing,
'tis a haven giving rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
'tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
for it lifts me up to Thee!

It's not Sunday morning yet here in Indiana but not too far off.  I didn't have anything I wanted to watch on TV so I came back to the pc.

Hayley's Emma is a darling.  I can't imagine how anyone can draw/paint like Hayley.  Amazing.

I can stay on here long.  I have to get up at 6 a.m. to get ready for church.  I man the lights for both services tomorrow.  Long morning but I love it!!!

Thanks Pat for the devotional.   I want to be one of the prepared ones to worship and praise Jesus.

Etta Sue that poem is wonderful.  It shows how the people coming into this country are confused with the English language.

     HAPPY  BIRTHDAY  GORDO AND GREGG

            HAVE A NICE DAY

Etta Sue

I forgot...Papa John, I am so happy you are back home safe and sound.  How did your bed feel last night and I know your brothers and sisters at your church welcomed you back with open arms.

I am all ready for church.  I may have to get the car out of the garage and then load it...I have so much I am taking with me today.  The Youth Minister and his wife, Jen, are having a baby girl soon and there will be a Baby Shower this afternoon.  I crocheted Baby Curry a pair of pink and white booties...they look like shoes and socks.  I hope Baby Curry and her mommy and daddy like them.

I wasn't ready for the alarm this morning so I am sure Jerry's couch will provide me with a nap this afternoon.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is another beutiful Lord's Day here in Georgia and in a little bit we will be leaving for Sunday School and Church.  I expect our group will go out to lunch today.  It has been several weeks since we went out after church services.

Papa John, glad to see you had a good safe trip home.  Thirteen hours is a long time to ride in a car so know you will need a day or two to rest up.  Glad Martha was with you all to do the driving.

Happy Birthday Gregg and Gordo.

Janet, sorry to hear you are having timing out problems.  It almost sounds like it is a problem with your server cutting you off or do you still have access to other sites and just lose access to CP?  Also don't understand why you can't link to your own webspace on your server if you have been able to do that in the past.

Marilyn, sorry to read that your son and family didn't think to include you in their outing.  I agree with you that doing things alone isn't the most fun, especially on outings like you describe.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Janet

Good morning, CP Family!  Darrel was just watching aprogram on TV about the International Whistling Contest!  It was really interesting, and I didn't know they had such an event.  They even have a School of Whistling!  At the graduation, the audience whistled "Pomp and Circumstances" as the graduates went to get their diplomas. ;D ;D  I have always loved whistling, and whistle myself sometimes (when I am alone!) ;)

Larry, it is only on CP that I got timed out.  But someone had come to the door, and it was a good while before I got back to my computer, so to be fair, it was probably my own fault.  I will be calling my server this week to inquire about the problems I am having posting photos.

I did post some, with Pat's help, last night.  They are in Photos Here, and some of you have already looked at them.  Thanks! :)

I'm almost ready to leave for church.  We may eat lunch with our kids, at least that is Abby's plan! ;D  She wanted me to come get her this weekend, but we had so much to do.  So she has her heart set on me getting her next weekend.  She is still calling me every day! ;D ;D

Etta Sue, every time you mention Jerry's couch, it makes me regret buying a loveseat instead of a couch, because the loveseat is way too short to nap on; cannot stretch out!

Papa John, I know your church will be very happy to have you and Cornelia back in the fold.  Welcome Home!

I better scoot!

Good Morning Y-all: I am ready for church with a few minutes before I have to leave for Intercessory Prayer Meeting before church. I did take the time to fix up a card for the birthday boys before I came here.

Thank you Pat for the devotional today. I do pray that I will be "prepared" when Jesus comes. There are so many little things that we tend to put aside or to forget in our preparations. Sins of omission are  some of them.

For example is there someone we "forgot" to pray for who had specifically ask that we pray for them. Sometimes I write down the requests and then forget to pray.

Well I am off the check the prayer folder before I leave.

Thanks for the devotionals and great music, Pat.  I have not been on the computer the past two days.

Have been having terrible problems trying to get new lens for my eyeglasses.  The first set were not messured correctly and so went back, had my old lens installed and waited another two weeks.  Went in and had the work done, then suffered vision problems.  Checked under a light with an old pair of glasses and found only one lens had been replaced.  The old left lens was still in my frame.  There was glue on the top from when they had replaced it the first time!  Went back (Wendy having to drive me each time) after phoning and getting cold response.  After much glaring from the staff, they found the other lens and put it in.  However, the one competent woman there (rec. by my doctor after learning about said problem) measured and said they were still not right.  Is having a complete new set made.  Wanted to include a new frame for free, due to all the problems.  We thanked her and declined, stating I was not that way and only wanted what had been paid for.  She was really nice and even gave my poor daughter a hug.  We are both so stressed!!!  Do you think that third time will be lucky?  I had paid the $520.00 for new lens and they don't give refunds.....

So, pray that all of them will learn a lesson about Christians and will also take more care in future.  We are not going to church as planned.  Wendy has to rest.  They went to find out about a door that was ordered for my outside screen/storm door.  The company had lost it on the computer and didn't have the measurements, also were rude.  So the kids are still trying to complete things for my suite.  No one seems to care about anything these days.....

Now that you know all about my problems..sorry about your neighbor Ria.  That happened with a dear friend in Calgary a number of years ago.  He was very successful, had a wonderful family of six kids and great wife....became severely depressed and finally ended his life.  They were not Christians.  Whatever would we do without our Lord?

Rachelle, I am so sorry about your friend and will pray for her.

Gareth, that place must have some heating bill in the winter!

Have read all the posts and enjoyed each one.  When Calgary and Vancouver went into overtime last night, I couldn't take the stress and will check the score in a few minutes.  Our Vanc. team was ahead 4-0 at one point, then blew it!!!!!!!!

I plan to go and watch Hour of Power, then Peoples's Church from Toronto, then spend the day reading.  I can actually sort of see again!  Have finally received the new John Grisham novel 'The Last Juror' and it is great.  He is a Christian now and his books are always interesting.

This was a 'two days in one' post, so please forgive the length....for those who read it all.

God Bless.

Wow!  A whistling contest!  I love whistling!  Rebecca whistles all the time for me.  I wish I had seen that program, Janet!

Poor Ria!  Etta Sue, your spell check is sure going to mess her up!  HAHAHAHA!

Liz, I'm sorry that Wendy isn't feeling good.  And by the way, your post wasn't too long.  I really enjoyed reading it.  I also watch the People's Church when I can.  That's where Ruthie goes to church!

Marilyn, it sure isn't pleasant being alone all the time.  I know how you feel being alone.

                       A  SONG

       In heavenly love abiding,
         no change my heart shall fear;
         and safe is such confiding,
         for nothing changes here.
The storm may roar without me,
my heart may low be laid,
but God is round about me,
         and can i be dismayed?

         Wherever he may guide me,
         no want shall turn me back;
         my Shepherd is beside me,
         and nothing can i lack.
         His wisdom ever waketh,
         his sight is never dim,
he knows the way He taketh,
and i will walk with Him.

         Green pastures are before me.
         which yet i have not seen;
bright skies will soon be o'er me,
where the dark clouds have been.
         My hope i cannot measure,
my path to life is free,
         my Saviour has my treasure
and He will walk with me.

                            Anna L. Waring (1823 - 1910)

This song have we this morning of course in Dutch
sing in the church.

Bye love Ria :)

I like that hymn, Ria.  I wonder what the name of the tune was that your church used.

In Heavenly Love Abiding
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Anna L. Waring, 1820-1910
Musician:  Authur A. Luther, 1891-

In heavenly love abiding, no change my heart shall fear.
And safe in such confiding, for nothing changes here.
The storm may roar without me, my heart may low be laid,
But God is round about me, and can I be dismayed?

Wherever He may guide me, no want shall turn me back.
My Shepherd is beside me, and nothing can I lack.
His wisdom ever waking, His sight is never dim.
He knows the way He's taking, and I will walk with Him

Green pastures are before me, which yet I have not seen.
Bright skies will soon be over me, where darkest clouds have been.
My hope I cannot measure, my path to life is free.
My Savior has my treasure, and He will walk with me.

HYMN HISTORY:

One of the surprises about devotional verse of the mid-nineteenth century is the way in which it sold. Edition after edition of verse by writers who would not be accounted poets in the strict sense were bought up. Anna L. Waring's poems had that welcoming experience. At the age of thirty in 1850 she published her "Hymns and Meditations", a small book of nineteen hymns which by 1863 had gone into ten editions, and contained thirty-eight hymns.

A Glamorganshire Welsh woman, her poems have the phrase and turn of one who not only had a genuine piety but knew how to express it. Four of her hymns have found permanent recognition: "My Heart Is Resting O My God", "Go Not Far From me O My Strength", "Father I Know That All My Life and In Heavenly Love Abiding".

The nineteenth century would have voted for the first named as her best hymn, but the twentieth, judging by the popularity of its choice, goes for "In heavenly love abiding". Not a robust or a bold hymn of discipleship, but one of calm and complete gospel assurance.

Wherever He may guide me,
No wants shall turn me back;
My Shepherd is beside me,
And nothing can I lack:

His wisdom ever waketh,
His sight is never dim;
He knows the way He taketh,
And I will walk with Him.

My Pastor this morning  gave a semon on fasting and has challenges all of us to  fast from something for the next seven day , Next week there will be another sermon on fasting. He is gently leading us into a 40 fast. Not necessarily from food. It can be Sweets (I really need to stop eating so many sweets), Coffee, You morning Latte, the TV, and for me I am going to get off my computer by 5pm and spend the rest of the evening relaxing, praying and reading the Bible. So if you see me on here after 5pm tell me to "GET OFF!!"

Prayer: Much Every Way

Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your
great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.
--Jeremiah 32:17

When Tennyson wrote "More things are wrought by prayer than this
world dreams of," he probably uttered a truth of vaster significance
than even he understood. While it is not always possible to trace an
act of God to its prayer-cause, it is yet safe to say that prayer is
back of everything that God does for the sons of men here upon earth.
One would gather as much from a simple reading of the Scriptures.

What profit is there in prayer? "Much every way." Whatever God can
do faith can do, and whatever faith can do prayer can do when it is
offered in faith. An invitation to prayer is, therefore, an
invitation to omnipotence, for prayer engages the Omnipotent God
and brings Him into our human affairs. Nothing is impossible to the
man who prays in faith, just as nothing is impossible with God.
This generation has yet to prove all that prayer can do for
believing men and women.
The Set of the Sail, p. 33

"I don't begin to comprehend all the implications of this truth,
Father, but I accept it and thank You and worship You for it. Amen."

Hi Liz, I have had some trouble with my new prescription as well.   The opthamologist said I had a "rapidly growing cataract" and then changed the prescription after 5 weeks.  I didn't get it filled but went to an optomitrist who is supposed to be very good.   He said I "didn't have a rapidly growing cataract" and changed the prescription that the opthomologist gave me.  A long story, now my family doctor wants me to see another doctor for a 3rd opinion.

I noticed that you watch The Peoples Church from Toronto.  That is my church I am proud to say.   Right now we are starting our missionary conference.  Our goal for our "faith promise offering" is $2,000,000!  We have over 500 missionaries around the world and around 300 nationals.  There will be people from India, Africa and South America at the conference which will extend over 3 weeks.

Well I hope you get to see some of that on TV.  By the way Liz, where do you live?   God Bless

Hi Pat, I just realized that you had posted about The Peoples Church.   I read it after I had posted.   HAHAHA

How are you feeling today?  My bathroom lights were out because Naoako had put a little silver chain near the electrical outlet.  Maybe it was wet.  Well after getting Lornie, (my electrician cousin) over today, and after taking apart two plates in the bathroom, he checked the circuit panel and one breaker was slightly out.   He fixed it and everything is back to normal.   Praise God.  Last night I was lighting the bathroom with a fat candle, smelled like vanilla.

I will be going to church at 6:00 p.m.   God Bless

Hi Marilyn, that is interesting about the fast from TV, computer, etc.  I didn't know it meant anything other that food.   But denying ourselves of the TV and other things is a good idea.   Especially if we fill our time with worship, prayer and Bible reading.  Sounds like what we should all be doing more.   I'm sure you will come out a better person when it is over and then it becomes a life style.    God Bless

Thank you Chris for your devotional on Prayer.    I love Jer. 32:17  "There is nothing too hard for God"  We all need to understand the implications of this scripture and trust Him, the God of the Universe.

Chris, could you tell me how to get those devotionals from Tozer.   I have tried to email on the link, but it won't go through.  Thanks again.

Wow!  A whistling contest!  I love whistling!  Rebecca whistles all the time for me.  I wish I had seen that program, Janet!

I saw just the last part of that program, too!  PAT, I remember when Rebecca was just a baby and she started whistling!  I'm glad to know she has kept it up!   :D

Well ... I drove myself to church today!  And then, there was a lady and her son who needed a ride home, so I took them home!  Someone asked me how I could drive my car with a stick shift since it's my right clavicle that is broken ... I answered: "very carefully."   :P

I'm doing much better but I know that I still cannot reach or pick up anything heavier than a pencil with my right hand!  For that reason, I keep the sling handy to remind myself not to get too frisky!  ::)  I still have pain, but this too shall pass and I know there is so much worse stuff going on in the lives of people all around me that I sure am not going to complain about this slight inconvenience.  :-X

MARILYN, It was great getting to talk with you yesterday!  I really am looking forward to having you visit this section of the Pacific Coast soon ... I love those redwoods, too.  In fact, I lived in Forest Knolls for a few years and our house was right in the midst of a redwood forest!  Reminded me of Woody Guthrie's song "...from the redwood forests to the Gulf stream waters ... this land is made for you and me."   :)

I'll be around, from time to time, so y'all take care, now, y'hear?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Wow!  What great messages to read!  Thanks for the links to your area, Marilyn.  I'm going to look at them after I post.

Nice that you have your lighting all fixed, Ruthie!  Also, Ruth, are any of the Mizo people from India coming over?

Ria, can you maybe look in the hymnbook and see what the name of the tune is?  I'd love to see if our English world will fit it.

Thanks again, Chris.   Oh, what a fine man Dr. Tozer was!  It was so nice as a teenager going to downtown Toronto and actually sitting in the services where he was preaching in the Avenue Road Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.  After he left, the man that came to replace him was Charles Templeton and what a rogue he was!  He became and out and out agnostic and eventually that church shut down and became a haven of Hare Krishna.

Love your new photo, Soni!
